Has anyone used the web app for Google Voice on an HD2.
That seems to be the only viable alternative for Windows Mobile since Google's GV app is primarily for Android.
Any updates on this?
I need to know this too.. Im having a hard time deciding if I should get the Nexus One or the HTC HD2. One of the pros of having an android device is my google voice account which I dont wanna give up (I currently have a G1). I'm leaning more towards the HD2 at this point because of all the issues/reports with the N1, and if there is an app for google voice on WM it will definitely be a plus!
You can use this to call

iDIALER (see the bottom part of the page)
http://supware.net/iDialer/
It acts as a dialer to call through your google voice account. Just dial the number (you'll have to log in the very first time you make a call) and it will automatically make the call. There will not be any prompts.
TO text you can actually save that random number that you receive when someone texts you to your google voice number. Save it as a second phone number to that contact and when ever you text that person use that random google number and it will always text that particular person and show your google voice phone number on their phone.
Only thing is that you can't play back voicemail... youll have to go to the website and download it to your phone. Or you can also do the transcription but thats not always perfect.
There you go... You get the perks of google voice.

So im wondering if anyone knows how to properly setup the integration of a Google contact + Google+ within hangouts. For example, if you have a google contact with a phone number called Brooke in your phone. You then are friends with her on Google+. What is the proper way to get everything merged into one contact so it works properly with Hangouts and SMS integration within hangouts?
So far ive done the following.
Brooke is saved as a Google contact with a phone number. Ive also added her on Google+, she has the same name as the contact. Thinking hangouts\android would automatically do the rest to combine both contacts into one was too much to ask. So i then added Brookes google+ @gmail address to the Brooke google contact, doing this seemed to let android know that they are one of the same people made hangouts then show the option to send a message via SMS for Brooke or via Hangouts in the drop down list.
However, i don't understand why it seems to separate the hangouts and sms threads showing multiple names of Brooke in the conversation list. See screen shot below. It doesnt seem to do this for everyone. So i dont know if its a bug, or depends on how you go about trying to integrate a Google contact with a Google+ account. Any insight would be great.
Is there a correct way to get a google contact with a number and a google+ contact merged together without it seeming to be a total mess?

I keep thinking any day now Google will update the Hangouts or Google Voice app to integrate both of them, and it seems to be continually pushed to the side. For the time being, I decided to theme the current Google Voice app to make it look more like Hangouts and less cartoony/Froyo look. Let me know what you think!
Feel free to build upon my work, just be sure to share what you did if you make improvements.

Does anybody ever use the stars on the side? Seems to mimic the gmail app but I always accidentally click on them in Google Voice. If I really want to add a star, I can long-press. Think I'll remove, it'll make the inbox look cleaner.
Tapin' the talk.
I know this might not be the right thread for this post, so if someone can direct me.
I was wondering if it would be possible to edit in the file (classes.dex?) in Google Voice apk, the list of Domestic, area codes.
Currently it is set where all the local area codes in US are domestic, and all others are international. If you set the calling to only use google voice for international calls, it will only use it for all calls outside of US.
I live in Canada, and would like to set all Canadian area codes as local, and all US area codes as international.
Please someone direct me.
Thanks

thanks for sharing, downloading it
Recently I replaced all of my Google apps with inverted ones, if you don't know what inverted apps are, they're basically apps that are dark themed, for example where black replaces white and white replaces black.
Anyway, the voice typing, or voice-to-text is working everywhere in my phone such as the Google Now search box on my home screen, AOSP Messaging, Hangouts, basically everywhere... but isn't working at all in Chrome.
Well actually, its kind of working. Take a look at these screenshots to see what I'm talking about...
Here you can see its picking up my voice just fine...

}
...and here you can see it is successfully processing my voice just like it does in any other app...
Then here is where it simply stops working and doesn't input the text from my voice into the Google Chrome address bar.
Here is where you can clearly see it is working, or trying to anyway. In this screenshot I said some jibberish and of course it couldn't understand it so it returned this message. So as you can see its working perfectly like it is in every other app except in Chrome it just won't input the words that it hears.
I don't understand, and the only thing I can think of that being different than other apps where its working perfectly is that in Chrome the mic isn't on the keyboard, its on the address bar.
Does anyone know of a fix or what's going on or have any answers? If not, can someone help troubleshoot this with me that might have a better idea of what's going on than I do?
I have searched all over the internet and couldn't find anything helpful. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks a lot!

Google announced today that the Hangout app for Android and iOS will get a major update. It starts today with the Android, the version for iOS will follow later.
This update will be focused on "staying connected with friends and family", who then is the purpose of basic Hangouts and any messenger program.
We see point point what are the new notes, although Google says that there are others not announced, but find out only after trying the app:
Sticker : penguins, pirates, koalas and of course cats at will! 16 new sticker pack (and more coming), saying with images what words can not.
Filters for video calls : sepia, vignette, black and white and others. Just a swipe during a video call to try them all and make the conversation more original.
Last seen : the same way as WhatsApp, Hangouts will inform us of the last activity of our contacts
Smart suggestions during conversations : for example, if someone asks "where are you?", Hangouts will show an option to share our location on the fly.
And beyond that, of course, the graphics in Material Design .
At the moment we don't have the APK to share, and for now the Play Store does not give hints to update, but we will update this article when it becomes available the file to download. Bookmark this and Stay tuned!
Hi,
I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I want to share some website & Android app I made.
Last year I thought about how it would be fun to just speak to my laptop/phone and get animations in return.
When I looked for such a website, I couldn't find it, so I made it myself:
voiceflick.com
I also made it into an Android app:
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.voiceflick.voiceflick
My nephews and nieces love it , I hope other people will also enjoy my website & app.
I made it just for fun, it has no ads, or anything else that will bring me profit.
The website only works on Google chrome, because it uses Chrome's built in speech recognition.
This was the first time I ever made an Android app, so there might be some bugs
If something doesn't work, please let me know, and I will look into fixing it
All feedback is welcome.
I hope you will have fun with it

More info about the app:
To save battery, VoiceFlick only records while you hold the mic-button.
All returned animations are appropriate for all ages.
The animations are rated G: General Audiences – all ages admitted.
VoiceFlick uses Google App for speech recognition.
So if something doesn't work, please check if Google App is installed and working:
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox
The voice records are not send to VoiceFlick, it is processed by Google App, (Google App can be configured to use offline speech recognition).
