Hey guys!
I did a thorough search of these forums and was amazed to find nothing about the wonderful program DateLens Calendar. (Apparently it used to be called FishCal).
It's a front-end for the clunky Calendar in WM5 and it has a very interesting GUI. Not "interesting-gimmicky", "interesting-FUNCTIONAL!"
It's freeware, so check it out here:
http://www.windsorinterfaces.com/datelens.shtml
Enjoy!
Dax.
I forgot to mention...
Only problem I've found with the program is that is doesn't have an icon, as in, it uses the default program icon, which is kinda ugly.
Never fear! I realised that it should be possible to use icon from a DLL file as a program icon (Just like in Windows xp, 98, etc)
Simply open the shortcut in something like PHM Notepad and add the following to use the standard Calendar icon.
?outres.dll,-10002
So the contents of the shortcut file should now look something like this:
45#"\Program Files\DateLens PPC\DateLensApp.exe"?outres.dll,-10002
Snoop around; Opening other shortcuts in PHM Notepad will reveal some interesting syntax. I think I saw one that said something like "Icon=" but I can't find it again.
Psst!: In PHM Notepad, don't forget to change the file types from *.txt to *.* or you won't see the shortcuts!
Ohhh maaan!
This puppy doesn't seem to work correctly!
It's great as a proof of concept, but doesn't function properly on my handset.
(I noticed when I try to enter a date, it comes up with a year of 1753!)
The author says that it could be due to regional settings, but this has not fixed it the problem in my case.
Has anyone else tried it and got it to work?
Now that I've seen it in operation, I can't stand to go back to other software! Even AgendaOne!
Dax.
Yes, I have the year 1753 problem as well. My regional settings is of the UK region. And when I tried to make it 2007, it goes 9988. Anyway, I bet it may be caused by WM5 problem rather than regional settings. Also, it seems slow in starting the app as well. Much slower than what I've experienced with other PIM (e.g. PocketInformant). However, once you had it in the memory, it seems alright.
Having said that, this app rocks! I wonder why it isn't getting the publicity that it should. SEE THE VIDEO DEMO HERE!!
It is sooooo aye-Fone-ish. They should have done more advertisements. I bet other PIM (probably Apple?) will like to have get their interface
Thanks Hanmin!
Much appreciated!
That calendar app looks very promising. Anyone talk to the developer yet on the WM5 issue??
He's said that he won't be working on it anymore, despite the fact he still thinks the concept is good (So do we!!), BUT that he is considering open-sourcing it.
Even if he does this, we would need dedicated & talented programmers to work on the code.
Do we have any takers?
Has the author released the source yet??
Holy crap, this is amazing. Well done on finding this little gem, I've been looking all over for an outlook replacement that was easier to work with but wasn't overloaded with to many features.
This is a great find, free as well! bonus.
Very nice. Has anyone figured out how to enter new appointments with the correct year and day?
@Kwan: No, unfortunately not. What we need is for everyone who's interested to ask the author to make it open source. I'm happy to co-ordinate the SourceForge site and he's already sent me the code, we just need his permission to open source it.
His name is Ben Bederson: [email protected]
Please be polite and courteous! If he says no, please don't hassle him. (But I really hope he says yes!)
All the best,
Hi. I'm new here. This app looks great! Has there been any updates? Has anyone tried it on WM6?
This is where you'd find updates if there were any.
You need to email Ben if you want this thing to go anywhere. We need all the support we can get!
ei.. you are back hows your effort with the code?
This app is pretty nice. I have been using it for the past day.
There are some issues with it though. Creating appointments causes an error and makes the app crash. It just needs to be fine tuned a little more.
Extremely impressive and works on my HTC Wizard running WM6 minus the already mentioned issues. I've done my part by sending Ben an email. Anyone have any new info on the appointment entry and date fixes? It is really all this app needs to be fully functional and more intuitive than any other calendar on the market. I can't believe this thing has gotten no press.

Because probable nobody knows about it. This is posted in the General forum. It needs to be posted in the Development and Hacking forum to get more traffic.
Hi folks.
Not been on here for a while but I got a new XDA (Touch Diamond) and I'm looking for a freeware app that used to be around for producing forms. I figured the vga screen would make it a less laborious task than last time I tried it.
The software is called (I think) X Designer or X Forms by Grandasoft. The Grandasoft website is gone so I guess they aren't around anymore but I was hoping someone would have a saved copy I could snag. Not asking for illegal software here as I said it was free anyway.
Failing that, could anyone suggest a similar software I could possibly use. I want to be able to tailor and produce a daily report sheet from a template and then send it back to my office by FTP or email.
Cheers!
Pete.

Google is your friend.
Cheers buddy, but I had already got those and they don't work. You need a key (which is free) but I can't get one because their website doesn't exist
Key for xs designer
MOD EDIT
please take time to read the forum rules
Hello. I'm sure the majority of this site know what Spotify is. And I've discovered some great stuff, that maybe could be ported to a WinMo device.
I'm really, really bad at coding, so I don't know if this is possible, but hey, why not, it's worth a try, right?
So, to the subject. Some Swedish hackers have hacked spotify and made a program to connect to their servers and stream music. It's all opensource, altough no GUI is available.
So my request is, port this program to a WinMo device, and make a nice graphical interface!
Here is the link to the program.

Come on people, someone? Make the code mobilefriendly and a nice GUI, somebody/a group must be able to do it?
Nobody? would love spotify in the mobile!
Still nobody that can look in to it?

despotify can't be ported to windows mobile. even though its possible, winmo doesnt have a native python runtime, the app would be huge, and to slow to actually be usable.
a new app would have to be programmed in C/C++ or C#
i would love this app two im a big spotify fan and use it alot
+1, seriously now spotify exists for Android and Iphone!
I have been working on a Windows Mobile Spotify client called mySpot.
The first alpha version is complete and I have uploaded it to the forum today.

i read on the blog that they are coding a java version. cant we just throw the java **** on your phones and run it in java?
I've ported despotify/jotify to C# (compact framework), and will release a working Windows Mobile client whenever I manage to build a nice GUI.
Maybe, some day, I will combine it with my old Grooveshark player, and create a all-in-one music app.
Stay tuned
Excellent news, nilezon, thanks. I'll look forward to this

Here's a .NET (and CF) library for Spotify, based on Jotify and Despotify.
http://www.sharpspot.org/
hello !
just in case...
official release of Spotify : http://www.generation-nt.com/spotif...bile-musique-streaming-actualite-1094941.html
Have searched through the forums here and online otherwise and have found a few topics where this is mentioned, but cannot seem to find any Apps someone has attempted this for Windows Mobile.
Here's the kind of thing I'm talking about available from A.
http://tinyurl.com/yl63efp
If someone knows of a WinMo version of this can you point me in the direction of it? However if it doesn't exist yet I'm guessing it's not too difficult for one of the boffins to whip up! It's only a graphic of a Shaver and an Audio sound of a Shaver of which there's plenty available online.
Have some of this...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=496050
Clipper / Shaver application for Windows Mobile
Ta, thanks John - I was searching for 'Shaver' and not 'Clippers'
It's not as polished as the slick IP app, but still a bit of fun.
Cheers.
there's a shaver/clipper feature in an app called shootme http://www.shootme.mobi/?page=screenshots
also has a lighsaber, shotgun, whip, etc...
...and by good, I mean not the awful paid version of that famous studio that we have for now. It's slow, buggy and awfully expensive for what it is.
My girlfriend used to play on her WinMo6.5 HTC TOuch2 a great freeware game called "PocketUno". Fast, simple but classy looking and filled with options. Everything that we can't have on Android...
So my question is : what are my alternatives ?
I already considered developing an app for her but it would be my first and I doubt I can achieve that in a week-end !
Is there a way to find a Java version (paid or not) that would fit the Magic's resolution (480*320) and its touch interface ?
Could a port from the PocketUno .cab file be possible in any way (it would remain a private port though as I didn't ask the original developer permission to do anything more than that) ? I doubt it but who knows (like in "Uno's"...hem, sorry).
Thanks in advance !
So it looks like I'm going to have to do it myself...
