On my old HTC TyTN I downloaded Google Maps and had fun using it.
I've also been using it on my HD2 as it was already installed.
However, I noticed last night that I don't have street view which I did have before.
Is this because the HD2 has a special version? Is it just out of date?
If I download the lastest version will it work and will I get street view back?
My HD2 is un-modded from T-Mobile UK

I`ve just downloaded Version 4 and installed it to my 16Gb memory card and works fine.
I could get streetview on my T mobile UK 1.43 phone by pressing down on the screen on the spot you want to view. A menu pops up which includes streetview, this was on the T mobile installed version of Google Maps
On v4, if you press and hold you get a 'tap for more options' box appear, from there you can then select Street View.... bit messy really, they should just put it on the + arrow when fully zoomed.

bcoz it's not v4 on the HD2. you have to install the current version
I've just tried mine as well and found that it has no street view. think i'm going to have to find a different version.
Brilliant.
Press and hold menu includes Street View. I forgot about Press and Hold...maybe it's because you don't get the silly circle anymore.
Now I just have to find out how to get it to change to landscape......though I rarely use it that way as I sit it in my car cup holder when driving
Does anyone know if it is the latest version on the one that is available from the openmarket????
i aint got street view either...which version are you lot using?
Streetview is also region specific....only select countries have it.
Don't bother trying other versions unless u are very sure your country has it. The latest version (v4) has it for sure, only point to note is whether there is Streetview in your country or not.
Just gotten the newest google maps.
Its has Street View, if you press an area for 3secs then selece street viwe.
Although I have found that if I try and use it the app closes itself after 20-40secs.
Anyone else had this problem?

Street view pic quality?
Anybody know why picture quality in street view sucks on winmo phones? It looks decent in iphone and android but doesn't look too hot on the winmo phones I've used.

I have Tomtom Navigator 5.10 installed and running on my device, but with the Great Britain-Plus map. I dont live in Great Britain. I live in California. I have the whole program working fine, GPS device paired via bluetooth and it tells me my accurate driving speed below the map when I have it paired and TT is running. I also have the California map in the same directory but it is not recognized when I go to the "switch maps" function. Is there an imcompatibility between software designed for the UK with corresponding maps and North American maps? I have had SOO many problems with installing TT5 to my device and finally have it running (after having to perform one hard reset) but now I cant actually use it without my local map. Thanks for any help. I have downloaded about 5 versions of the map (some from complete versions of TT) and placed each one individually on my mini SD card (2GB) via card reader and still none of them are read. Please help me! I am so frustrated :x ... Thank you.
Hi dkseveneleven, as long as your map is for TomTom 5 then it should work, if TomTom cant find the map, usually its because the folder location and/or name is wrong. The map should be in its own folder on the sd under the correct name. I dont have that map so I cant help you with the correct folder name. One way is to look in the folder and have a look at the files extentions .pna and .mid the name of these files seems to match the name of the folder e.g "Great_Britain.PNA" folder will be "Great_Britain"
well basically i am facing the same problem with US maps and the problem, as i have found out, is that you do not have the correct version of the canada map.
for example, if you have tomtom 5.21, then the only canada map that works with it is the v5.67. if you have the a lower version such as 5.1 or 5.0, then only the v5.66 or lower would work.
what you can do now is to upgrade to tomtim5.21 since it is free and your maps will start working again as i suspect that you have the latest version of these maps.
hope that helps.
Which is the latest version of USA maps?. I have v566 but they don't work with the 5.10 or 5.21 TT software versions.
Any help??
Under my Tomtom navigator version menu, it shows that I have "App version 5.100 (5160) , GPS driver v1.20, Map: Great_Britain_Plus-Map v571.... So is it possible that the California map that I'm trying to use is the wrong version? I have tried to use every California map available through torrent searches, so I dont know what other options I have. I dont even know what version my California map is because I havent been able to run it to view the version.

Just edit with notepad the file pna in your map directory.
Does anybody know if the PPC version of TomTom 7 will goes out ?
Following some information's I've read, TomTom will not sell this version "in the box" but some company may deliver a v7 version with their device.
Also read that HTC will deliver this with the Diamond.
Thx in advance for your feedback.

According to Tomtom, the availability of version 7 is unknow.
However, some people have ripped the HTC Diamond version which is illegal and no new maps are available that works with the ripped version although some people claims that the maps of release 6.75 works but they are out off date. Conclusion: May be that you can get an illegal version of Tomtom 7, but it will not support the latest maps.
Therefore, if you want navigation with the latest maps consider to use IGO8.

No you cant. But why do you want to keep version 6? Version 7 works better, works with newer maps... why keep with the old stuff?
I have TT6 running WE 6.75 and use a lot, so am more than interested in upgrading.
3 Qs
1. What are the new features of TT7? Is it worth it? Is it really faster? One feature I would really like in particular: does TT7 have the ability to give a voice warning of being over the speed limit?
2. Do we ever expect TT to release this formally for PDAs?
3. Do you also need to update TomTom Home to 2.x? (TT6 only worked with TT Home 1.x).
Thanks
Q1: you can give a sound to warning over speed so i guess a voice too.
Q2&Q3 dont know

Hi,
I have it running on the poor mans Polaris (Artemis) and it works just as well as TT6.
1. The new features I have noticed are
i You can now disable auto zoom, so you can set a zoom level you like and it won't change.
ii You can set a warning both for going over the speed limit or for a speed defined by you.
iii You can change the pointer to your car of choice.
iv It displays the road you are on as well as the next road when following a route.
v the speed warning is now red background with white text so is easier to read (was red on blue before).
vi Has access to MapShare (I can't get this to work as I have it installed purely on my SD card but other forum users report it works).
2. No idea.
3. You need to use TT Home ver 2.3
Overall it is not a major improvement on TT6 but there are a few bits. Due to the size of its installation (over 12mb) I can't fit it on my device storage but it runs fine on the SD card. However, this does prevent it from connecting to TT Home. However, I intend to change my Artemis for a MDA Compact IV or an Orbit 2 so that problem should be easy to fix.
Regards
Thanks spangelsaregreat and le poulpe for replies.
As I use mine in my pocket via earplugs on my motorbike, and hence never look at the screen (and hence my interest in voice/audio features) it doesn't look like there is much more in TT7, except of course the speed warning.
just tested tomtom v7.450.9028 on my polaris with tt7.20 and tt7.15 maps. it works great and even faster then tomtom6
These are a few non-working apps I discovered when trying to customise my TD2 on day one.
1) HTC's gprs monitor refuses to install.
2) Core player exits on installation complaining about a "problem". - NOW FIXED
3) I already mentioned Tomtom6 on another thread.
Anyone found any others?

As I've seen coreplayer showing video on the Diamond2 in one of the reviews I'd say that something has gone wrong during your customisation.
Core player 1.3 work perfectly on my Diamond 2 !!!!
A problem has occurred with player.exe
Please tell Microsoft about this problem.
That's what happens when I run the program. It installs and appears in the program list but just won't run. I can't tell you what version it was either.
Maybe I should try a different version.
After a hard reset and direct install onto the device from a cab file I can now confirm that Coreplayer 1.3 does work very well on the D2. I have amended my original post. Thanks.

There is a new updated version of Co-Pilot specifically for the Diamond2, phone technical support on 0871 6412 540 (in the UK) and ask them for the download link, I did and my Co-Pilot is working ok.
If you try and load the D1 version you wont see many of the graphics on the screen, to get round this you can try using a non HTC old version and use the cab file from that, you should be able to find one floating around somewhere. The graphics are still not correct using the old generic cab but its usable.
Thanks for the reply and I did contact them and was given a link to the Diamond 2 program and it works ok.

Can you let me know what that version is? Im running 7.7.0.134 (full version with SD card etc, not Diamond version - which I think is the same but just comes without SD card and CoPilot Central PC app) but thats been the "latest" for nearly a year. Does this "new" version support the 480x800 resolution correctly.
It runs fine, just that the onscreen keys etc appear squashed.
Be grateful if you could let me know.
I just got the latest download v7.8.0.162 from them two days ago and was told by there sales person that the only thing that does not work is the TD2 Zoom Bar.
I have tested the program and it runs very smooth
How does this compare feature-wise to the TomTom mentioned in other threads for the TD2?
Co-Pilot
The version I am running is 7.8.0.162 Data NAVTEQ.EU 07Q3. v7.1.13.1.5, my understanding is that it has a higher screen resolution than the old Diamond 1 version, the menu system is a bit different. I think this version new will also run on the Touch HD.
I was told by Co-Pilot technical support that version 8 is on the horizon and will be out later this year.

In my opinion Co-Pilot is the better choice, for example you can specify the sort of road preferences you would normally drive on for each sort of road and enter the average speed you drive at to create a user profile that is normally quite accurate, there is a better zooming facility on Co P and I usually drive with the screen zoomed out so i can see all the small roads and villages around my route.
I hate to have to make such a thread, but ALK (the company that makes CoPilot) has informed me of something that they have neglected to mention to anyone purchasing CoPilot Live 8 for their HD2.
The HD2 specific version of CoPilot does NOT bring the map updates that CoPilot advertises
They mentioned that while they have come out with updates for their maps it's only for the REGULAR version of CoPilot. For now, the HD2 version (which I'm sure all HD2 users have purchased) does NOT come with this. So what does this mean? You would have to reinstall your CoPilot program as a normal GPS program. Meaning it would not function with NaviPanel and other HD2 specific software. They are not saying WHEN or even IF they will come out with the updates for the HD2 maps, but in my opinion it's not worth purchasing now until it's fully compatible.
In my own experience. I can't say I like it simply because the maps and searches that I've done (on Live Search for CoPilot) are WAAAAAY out of date. I was looking for a specific hospital when their "live search" gave me an address of where the hospital was almost 12 years ago. Not good and NO excuse for such lack of maintenance. I'll leave it up to people here to decide if they want to buy it or not.
Timely but a shame. I was about to buy this as I've got the UK Tmobile HD2 just this week and it hasn't got CoPilot on it at all. I thought I could get the HD2 version from ALK's website (I think I'd save a tenner) but now maybe I need to buy the full blown version. Are CoPilot's versions of maps easy to identify?
Well, I don´t use the Navipanel since it´s a pain ita to change the backcover everytime for the car-cradle, I´m better off with the Brodit-car-cradle.
I made some fuzz at ALK-Europe for the map-update (I bought the HD2-version in Dec. 2009) and they sent me the original Copilot8 cab for install on SDcard without charge. Now I run the regular version and have no update problem with the maps AND copilot doesn´t eat up my valuable Storage mem.
That's why I'm using the regular version of Copilot on my HD2.
And it works fine.
I indeed remember that when I tried Copilot special HD2 version (trial included in my original ROM) most of the maps were out of date and wrong.
I can't see any point is using the HD2 version, the regular is fine!
I bought cp 8 when It came out, before I even had a HD2, (but was using the test roms)
navipanel seems a gimmick to me, something that I tried once and never bothered with again.
Where are the maps located? In the Copilot folder, right ?
So why not download the regular Copilot version (2577 + Copilot) and then replace just the 2577 folder with the one dedicated to the HD2 (downloaded separately).
Just a suggestion. Could this possibly solve your problems?
@Phenomenon - can you tell me what version of Copilot you mean as a standard version? I'm using ver. 8.0.0.659 -
thanks
Where can I download the generic version of CoPilot? I'm hoping to free some memory, try out the newer maps and upload my tracks with CP Central. It's not that there's much difference between the 2 applications!

Mmm. It occurred to me too but I can't find it. I can download the HD2 version but not the generic. For the former I was sent a link to the full version and just have to enter my details and download the maps etc. that I bought. Getting the HD2 trial is easy too but I cannot find the other anywhere.
ALK have supplied the links to the generic version of CoPilot, together with instructions as to how to install both versions from scratch. They were very quick to reply. I still can't find a link on the website.
Does anyone who has tried the generic version know whether it is necessary to de-register the installed version before trying the device-independent application when re-installing to the same device?
iGO8 people, iGO8!!
I bought the CoPilot 8 Live for my Touch Pro and then changed to the HD2.
But, after I installed the regular CP8 I downloaded the HD2 update software "found link with google in UK" and installed, I have the HD2 version and I do get the map updates...
This does work fine as I've performed the same thing above several times while upgrading roms.
On another note, the website says you can't switch your license to Android from another OS ie: Windows Mobile.. but I'm going to try to deactivate my license on CP8 in Win Mob and reactivate in Android...who knows hopefully it will work...

I'm sure that the web site said it was alright to move between WM and Android when I bought CP8 some months ago. Moving to an iPhone was not possible. I'll see if I can find the page in my archive. I can't believe that I misread it. I think the text is ambiguous now but I'm fairly certain it has changed as well.
You might try contacting ALK and see what they have to say.
As it is not yet published on the net by the time writing this post, I can't tell whats all new, since I need to explore it too.. however.. have fun ;-)
Trying to figure that out myself. Standby...
EDIT: after playing around for a few minutes, I don't notice anything different. I'd love to hear if anyone else finds anything, though.

Nope. "Failed to move application. System updates cannot be installed on external media."
The Australia Navi is my best guess, though I'm in the USA and can't confirm.
Had same issue at first (installation unsuccessful). So I uninstalled map updates from settings and installed again from the market. Worked!
New features were related to rating a place and getting more personalized search results. Also UI did feel snappier, imho

Some people have had theirs enabled a bit early, so it seems like there's a bit of a staged rollout. Don't freak out if yours isn't enabled first thing tomorrow morning, might take even a day or two.
Google Navigation now available in Australia. Tried it at 11:55pm last night as soon as the update was offered.
