ok, i bet this post is somewhere on this forum... and yeah, i tried looking for it...
but anyway,
I got a Htc Magic, with amon ra and running myhero 2.0.5
my phone tells me i can download a new update, so i do ...
asks me to install it, i say yes, phone reboots...
then it shows me the next thing:
Welcome
Build : RA-magic-v1.2.3H
Finding update package... (ok)
Opening update package... (ok)
Verifying update package...
E: no signature (230 files)
E: verification failed
Installation aborted
how is this possible, am i doin anything wrong, while i'm actually not doing anything at all just hit yes to apply it...
if i reboot phone it's still the unupdated version
any guesses?
greetings.
don't update it, it's not an update of your custom myhero rom, say no to the update, its a hero update you cannot get into your rooted magic
also you should upgrade radio and spl and use cursorsense.

got a htc magic 32A
greetings
all the info is explained best here in first post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=592856
but if your happy with myhero and wont risc anything then keep it and do not take the update, cause the update has nothing to do with myhero.
is it really safe to update radio and spl? its a really really long thread...
you got personal exp. with this?
greets
i followed the guide there, and worked for me in first try, but if your unsure and don't feel safe, then stay with myhero, and not risc

Now I know this is a noob question, but anyways I am wanting to upgrade to jfv1.4....well I have a none modded g1 with rc33. I tried to install jfk with changing it to update.zip boot and alt&l then alt&s, but it says something about verification failed dealing with keys, which I read around that I may need to get a recovery image. I just need to be pointed in da right direction so that I can instal jesusfreak update. Thank you in advance. Again I have a non modded g1 with rc33.
the error message i get is
E: No Signature
E: Verification Failed
which im pretty sure its something i just havent done on my phone to allow Jfk1.41 to install
yeah if you have a stock rc33 version you do not have root enabled, nor do you have the ability to use it... so your verification telling you that verification failed is because its not a tmobile/google signed update.zip, you need to replace the test keys from google with the modded ones to give the phone the ability to verify n update JF V1.41 or any mod from there on... so you will mostly have to downgrade you rc33 to rc 29, then aquire root, change test keys, switch up bootloaders (for emergency maybe-bricked-situations), and then update to JFV1.3 Rc30 then JFV1.41 Rc33.. dont forget to update your radio too when updating to rc33..
please correct me if im wrong... but i thought thats what ya need to do, thas what i did
check out Dream>Dream Development and then go to the sticky posts and look for Rooting, Hacking, ..... the G1
that should put u in thw right direction, if you need step by step help email me [email protected]
also check out Stericson for themes and JesusFreke for troubleshooting the G1..

This explains what you need to do
well i just came across this problem orginally i had no idea what my original RC version was, but since i live in canada and didn't have a data plan setup yet i followed the guide to downgrading to the RC29(Rooted) version so i could activate my phone via wifi. But after experiencing problems reading and writing with my 8GB patriot memory card on my phone only. I looked this problem up on google and it seems that the RC33 update fixed this problem. So i downloaded the RC33 upgrade files and attempted to install them. But i ended up with an error like the following.
Code:
E:Failure at line1:
assert file_contains("SYSTEM:build.prop", " ro.build.fingerprint=tmobile/kila/dream/trout:1.0/TC4-RC30/116143:user/ota-rel-keys, release-keys") == "true" || file_contains("SYSTEM:build.prop", "ro.build.fingerprint=tmobile/kila/dream/troInstallation aborted.
Copied from someone with a similar problem
then the phone just asks to reboot, instead of installing RC33
Anyone know how to upgrade from RC29(Downgraded version) to RC33 or a modded version of RC33 that will help me fix my micro SDHC bug
Thanks in advance (Sorry to be a leech signing up to ask for help )
Where did you get the RC33 update from?
Here's the thread with all the info you need for upgrading to a rooted RC33:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=475381
As with every mod to the phone, do so at your own risk.

Sorry man, not to be mean but read the thread, not just the title. The title just says that it's updated for RC9 as well, but in the thread itself you'll see links to the RC33 download.
You may want to do more research on the board before doing all this. I spent quite a bit of time reading threads even before attempting to root my phone.
Hello everyone,
I received an update today on my rooted G1. It has the official ADP 1.5 google rom installed on it. It downloaded an update and then reflashed my spl and then threw an Error that CID's do not match. The update failed to install. The file that was downloaded(I have it saved if anyone wants me to upload it) identified its self as CRB43 update and was only 4.3M. I have the logcat files and the file. Is this the cupcake update we are waiting for?
**Note** I am at work and can't upload or post logcat right now but will do so as soon as I get back (2AM EST).**
I don't think it's the Cupcake update as it's a mere 4.3M. Could be a hotfix for the 1.5ADP.
The Official Tmobile based Cupcake coming from 1.1 Should be 35megs + But since you were 1.5 ADP already the keys were most likely Test keys.

Using Normal Keys
Hello,
I was not using the test keys and was using release keys. The full name of the file is "signed-gfh-CRB43-from-CRB21.c88b03d2.zip". It won't update on my current setup. I was using Haykuro's extended partition SPL and have a feeling this has something to do with it. I'll have some time when I get home to figure this all out and also be able to wipe and install crb21 with release keys and then apply this update to see what is going on.
tried to flash it because im a fricking noob but it was all set and gave a huge error message....heres a direct link
https://android.clients.google.com/updates/signed-gfh-CRB43-from-CRB21.c88b03d2.zip
Error Code
The error I get is:
Error in applypatch status 256
Failure at line 165
seems to error on the file /system/lib/modules/wlan.ko
Code:
ro.build.fingerprint=android-devphone1/dream_devphone/dream/trout:1.5/CRB21/147201:user/gfh,test-keys"
This kinda tells me that its a ADP update......
well to be honest im bored so i just went from jf adp 1.5 to regular official adp1.5 now im going to retry to flash that file you linked
yeah don't do that....the phone gave me the scripted version of a large middle finger lol

roflmaoo shows how much i looked at it....time to put the JohnnyWalker down and call it a night lol....
Cupcake update is BS. You got guys on here pumping out Rom's every other day. Then there's a simple phone company who cant compete with the big boys (att, version) who cant put out a rom we have had for all most two months. I don't know about anybody else, but im not buying it.
I'm scared that my noob cousins and friends, who I rooted and installed jf v1.5 for, will get this update patch notification and install it, then they're going to call me to tell me that their phones are not working.
Hey all i have just bought me an HTC magic..
after few days i was made the updates so it was rooted..
and then i saw the hero also was running on some magics..
so i started to make the neccesary things to do it..
But something went wrong...
my phone booting up...
but just hangs in the HTC magic logo
Maybe a wrong SPL , Recovery or Radio..
im new to this... so maybe i have misunderstood something..
As for now i can only do a few things for it..
1. if i plug my usb cable to it when the phones boots up nothing happends
but if i plug it in - while im in the 2 menus home+power and the back+power it found something... both xp and vista popped up found
Android 1.0" but no drivers seem to work...
but why is it a android 1.0 and not the normal 1.5
so i think something is been changed to older stuff.
my phone is not recognized in the adb devices
in my Android System Recovery utility
i only have 3 choices , when i rooted the phone when it worked i have a few more points
reboot system
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
and the error E:can't open /cache/recovery/command
when i use the apply function after i have dropped a update.zip file in my sd card i got this
Install from sdcard
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:No sognature (5files)
E:Verification failed
Installation Aborted.
the only info i can give you about the phone is from the other menu
Sapphire PVT32A ship s-on h
Hboot-1.33.0009 (SAPP10000)

sorry... i knew the steps only on vodafone magic...
get some guys with htc magic to helps u..
I have the Vodafone magic and is having the same issue as the other guy, what are the steps to get the signature off for vodafone magic? thank you
What process/guide did you guys use for rooting? The modded recovery images work with the test keys, which most update.zips on the forums are signed with.
just share my experience with you.
I have the same SPL, and rooted without problem based on the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=530527, and then got bricked after flashing modd spl2004, not sure if i should use spl2005 or should flash spl BEFORE rooting? anybody would like to share your experience? thanks
anyway, will get back my htc magic in 5 days... will try again
probably you flashed a "B" rom instead of an "A". There is a thread listing all compatible "A" Roms. Now: Take out the SD Card and plug it into a PC. Delete the Update.zip from the SD Card and replace it with one from the thread. Flash this Update and AFAIK your done.
I had the same problem and tried to overwrite the update zip using ADB Push. However this did not work. I had to delete and replace via PC.
Hope this helps.
Regards
-f
Download recovery-RAv1.0G.img here.
$fastboot boot recovery-RAv1.0G.img
apply update (make sure the update.zip is one for Google branded Magics, so 32A boards).
Thanks, i finally got this to work...
I dont like the 1.3 version tho, it always shows HTC screen and then "Loading..." for a minute or two everytime i press home button.
The 1.2 version don't
I figured a new thread would be helpful. Thanks to the unrevoked team!

Edit: Please see Joeykrim's post if you have the following problem – http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6994302&postcount=14

I don't believe so, no.
Posted the following in the original thread...Any thoughts?
Am thinking correctly that the changes made by the file:
"OTA_Supersonic_1.47.651.1-1.32.651.6_unrevoked2"
which is available on the unREVoked site make persistent changes to the hardware?
In other words.....it was recommended that this update be performed over a stock ROM which I am willing to do but then what?
Do we need to stick with a ROM based upon the 1.47xxx version such as Damage Control or are we free to flash anything after applying this update?
Thanks in advance

Unfortunately, I don't have the answer. I would just sit tight until someone a bit more knowledgable chimes in on the subject.
