Anyway to change the touch sensitive buttons to different colors? A nice blue or green would look fantastic on some themes...we were able to get the 'non-changable' trackball to change colors, so maybe these too?

I see a lot of ROMs with different shaped and coloured bottom buttons in 6.5, but I have no idea how to do this myself.
I really like the square buttons, but my ROM-of-choice has rounded buttons...
Tried searching.

Would it be possible, or is there any way, to make the backlights on the Menu, Home, Back and Search buttons act as notification / status lights?
A similar modification was made to the Palm Pre Plus to make up for the lack of a dedicated notification led. It seems reasonable that some talented dev out there could make this work.

Possible, yes, we did the same thing for the SGS phones with BLN. However, I don't know how useful it would be as I can't see the lights on the buttons unless it's dark out. It is something I'd like to look into, but it's on a long list of things to do.

Good point, and you're probably right. I didn't even realize those keys had a backlight until I had had the phone for a few days. Thanks for the reply!
Not sure if this is just me but my backlights for the bottom keys dont turn.on unless its dark and i dont have auto brightness onthat might be why you dont notice them unless its dark.
I just picked up a gTablet and I noticed that the hardware menu buttons on the top right side are very hard to see on the black bezel. at night it is impossible.
Are these buttons supposed to light up? If they do, does anyone know why mine might not light up?
Thanks !

No they don't light up.
In the dark... I use the Force to locate them
Search for threads on how to workaround this problem,
ButtonSavior (to get on screen buttons)
Fluorescent tape near buttons.
Opencase and add LED
add drops of glue on the side across the buttons
etc etc

No bro, look u will have wallpaper colours on the navigation bar when on the home screen, lenovo takes care for such small things. Dont worry....
And btw black colour doesnt cause screen burn since the pixels of black colour area are always off. Anything except black can cause screen burn

Yes,amoled screens are prone to screen burn but only when they are on, and when its black colour the pixels are turned off,so its equal to screen completely turned off, hence burnout cant take place due to black. No worries...:good:
Hit thanks if i helped

How to save status bar from burn, can we have auto hide+slide down or make its color black? Although by default it keeps changing color.
BTW
I opted fingerprint gestures:
I don't like on-screen buttons much(was a gs5 user)+ small fear of burn
Neither https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150
This addon never gets old. And everything else feels retarded once you get used to it.

Yup,Status bar keeps changing colors,it wont burn! For that hide+slide option, some app or xposed might help u to get this
FP gestures. For me, there is no point in buying a 5.5 inch screen phone if you have to use .3 inch of the screen for navigation. If it was a set like mi mix with higher screen to body ratio, then it would be fine. But we have enough bazzle space in our P2. More over, FP gestures work perfectly and you don't need multiple point of contact for finger to get multiple actions performed.
1 button for sure. More screeen the better. Also its quite easy to get the hang of it
i use on screen buttons BUT i prefer capacitive buttons outside the display, this on screen buttons are the worst thing about the p2......
i hope that lenovo will release a p3 with capacitive buttons.....
