I'm looking for some widgets or to create some that will give info like the homescreen++. Like program memory storage memory and battery drain.
Is there anything out there already. If not can it even be done?

Hi
Just moved from WM to Android and it's a bit of a learning curve
i am using Launcher Pro at the moment
I wanted to use a launcher that ran alongside the standard HTC Launcher so i could use it for apps only
So i have all of the widgets on the HTC Desire launcher and all of my Apps on Launcher Pro.
So i have a couple of questions if you dont mind
I have tried Helix Launcher and a couple of others and i cant seem to run them seperate to the standard launcher i can only select them from the homescreen Selector App.
But Launcher Pro runs as a separate app which is what i want
So my questions are
1.should all launchers run as standalone am i doing something wrong ?
if not which ones do ?
2. Are there any launchers that provide shortcuts to pages that i could put on the first page ? (EG so tap a shortcut to go to page 7 and call the shortcut Games)
Also on a slightly different topic is it just me or do most widgets seem to waste a lot of space ?
on my Touch HD the homescreen was full but on the Desire when adding widgets there seems to be a lot of space unused between them which is a shame as i would love my tasks on there too but cant use the space.
Same with the HTC notes widget, It's a 4x4 widget but only looks 4x3 in terms of space they could have made it bigger and so more could be fitted in - end of Rant
Thanks in advance

yes they should run stand alone, all are different apps.
you should be able to make a folder for "Games" instead of having a shortcut just have the folder. I use Launcher Pro Beta. I like it. Its smooth and has a lot of little cool features.
Anyone able to find the Internal Memory Widget in the market? I backed up the apk and tried installing it that way and it wouldn't show up in the widgets list.
Just wondering if others had the same problem?
I can't find it either, or SD memory widget

This is frustrating. I'm not sure if it is the market or the EVO. I can't find this, handcent, or ADW launcher to name a few.
try mini info
SD memory widget is in the market as - SD Card Storage Widget
Internal Memory Widget Is in the market as - Internal Memory Widget
Hi all,
I used to have an application called Elecont launcher which I used for launching my applications from Second Today. Now I have Sense 2.5 with Cookies Home Tab which I love.
I want to add three quick links which aren't really shortcuts, but instead displays information on free ram, free memory on device and on SD card. I have circled this from Elecont Launcher.
Is it possible to have/create quick links like this on Sense 2.5?
Moved as not software release.
Sense and CHT are great, no doubt.
But I just wonder if there's any simple, pure quick launcher out there similar to CHT quick launcher or the iLauncher of old time where I can put links on home screen to programs, toggle switches and files (not possible in CHT?)
The reason is I want my Leo runs at max possible speed without Sense slowing it down even minimally. I hope a simple quick launcher would be less memory intensive.
Hey guys,
I'm trying out a few launchers (Launcher Pro in this case) and I was wondering.. Ultimately if you go for a new launcher, you'll always have the stock launcher installed as well.
What happens with the widgets that are on the launcher that's currently not being used ? Do they still update and take their toll on the system ? Or should you remove all the widgets from all the launchers that are currently not in use ? This is a bit of a pain as you have to set it all up again if you wake up one day feeling like switching launchers.
Thanks for any hints
hmmm
never heard of thet
For example, some widgets are programmed to only do the background updates if the widget "has been installed". By this it means, deployed in a launcher. Now if it's on the launcher that is not currently in used, it may still be doing the updates. Dunno...

yes...stupid behaviour..how to get around this? found anything?
As far as i can tell, they are not updating if the launcher isn't the one being used.
Interesting avenue of thought though. You could use a task manager to see if the idle Launcher or Widget app were doing any work, if you want to check for yourself.
well in the meanwhile I resorted to the stock launcher and removed all others so I never got to dig into it too much. But I might just for the sake of curiosity! Battery Monitor Widget writes a history file. It's easy to download it, place it in a launcher, and start using the other launcher without the battery widget. Then after a while check the history file and see if it's been updated lately...
However from an API point of view I'm a complete n00b so I don't know if the Android platform is stopping widgets on unused launchers or if the widgets have to contain code themselves to query if they are in the active launcher and if so... run. This would mean that some widgets might behave as expected and others not..
