LANDSCAPE Keyboard lag on 2.1 Roms? - Hero CDMA Themes and Apps

Am I the only one experiencing this? Mainly on the browser. I don't mind lag, but when it lags it no longer auto corrects or changes spelling. It also will often type they symbol associated with the letter as it thinks I'm holding the key down.
Just thought Id point It out as I haven't seen any posts on it. I run ASK often so Its not a low memory issue, I have 40-50+ megs free in RAM with the program I'm typing in open.

Same..bad lag with the HTC keyboard...dunno if it happens with the stock keyboard since i haven't removed the htc one..same thing happened on my moment as well, bad lag with the keyboard.

Havent had much lag but when do have trouble sometimes getting the keyboard to open when trying to click into text fields..could be just in dolphin browser though not sure.

Very Strange Fuze Keyboard Troubles

My keyboard has been lagging and doing other strange things that has got me worried. I did a hard reset on it yesterday and before I even installed any software I was forced to use the on-screen board for a spell as the slide out was un-responsive. I chalked it up to some background process being a hog and moved on. Now I'm finding some consitencies.
On a fresh reboot if I open the notes app in landscape mode and start typing I can see the cursor moving but nothing else till I get about 75% across the screen and then there are some black artifacts that now look like a ton of characters all bunched up in the space of about 3 positions wide. If I keep typing till it does a return then the entire line of text shows up and the process repeats itself on the next line.
If I have a full page of text open in say Total commander's text editor in portrait mode and slide the keyboard out, it will make a pattern of those black artifacts diagonally down the screen toward the left side and it will not correct itself. If I go back to portrait mode all is well again. There is seriously something wrong here.
I can't find any information from searching on the problem but hoping one of the experts here could shed some light on it and let me know if it's time to think about a return. Will try to uncover more if I can.
Many Thanks,
Eidolen
I took some screens of the problem. Both pics on the bottom are the same document but left is with TC's editor and the right is Word. Upper right is word as well. Hopefullt the attachment makes it through, if not I can host and link to it.
If you are running a stock ROM without any customizations (you said you hard reset your device), then chances are you have a defective Fuze. You should exchange it through AT&T's 30 day return policy.
If you're not running a stock ROM, then maybe you have an unstable one. Flash Da_G's clean ROM and see if the issue still occurs. Since that ROM has very little installed by default, the chances of a software conflict are slim.
Please post back here with your status.
I was thinking the same thing but the one thing I can't reproduce is when the keyboard doesn't respond at all. Maybe the graphics and the responsiveness are 2 different things?? I'm wondering if clear-type might have something to do with the graphics but that shouldn't lag the keyboard.
Gonna disable Clear-type now and will report back.
Eidolen
Well if I would have done a search with cleartype I would have found my answer, sorry I didn't figure it out sooner. At least pople can see what cleartype looks like on the Fuze in landscape mode if they were wondering. Apparently there is no fix known other than to turn it off. Hopefully the laggy response clears up as well but not getting my hope up. Thanks for your response.
Eidolen
What an odd thing for ClearType to do in landscape mode... as for laggy response, flashing a clean ROM would give you a good gauge as to how preinstalled apps can affect such lag.
Same thing happens to me but in txt'in sometimes my keyboard dont work at all and i have to restart the device, but this has happen to me only 3 times and the keyboard still have life cuz when i hit the fn key or shift the light comes on indicating that i put them on. as for screen lag i bearly get screen lag, because i did some hack i saw in this thread and it seems to of help alittle
by the way am using the ROMeOS2, i was wondering if i was the only person with this problem but apperently not.
Yep I got the same problem. I installed the NullKb cab on my phone to keep the kb from popping up in Opera. It didn't work. I uninstalled NullKb, It still shows up as selectable under other input options. The lag got progressively worse and even resets will not get the keyboard to work.
I've got the same problem. It's really strange.
I used ROMeOS but now am back to Australian Three official rom.
It seems like, when ClearType is active, I can't see what I am writing with the keyboard in LandScape mode. Even stranger is that when you write an SMS, the keyboard writes fine as there is T9 active.
I really need a fix for this as this has started to frustrate me.
I found having "clear type" activated was my problem as well. I turn it off and my kb is back to usual normal. I have a euro stock unit. Very happy with the rest of it's performance. I can live without cleartype.

Hi:
I had the same problems. I fixed it by disabling cleartype in landscape (using Diamond Tweaks), and then installing the Fuze Keyboard fix cab, which I am attaching here for you, in case you want to try it. I'm sorry I don't remember the original post I got it from. After doing these 2 things, everything seems to be working great for me.

Slide out keyboard issue

Hi all,
I am new to this forum, so please bear with me if I have posted in the wrong section.
I am with T Mobile UK and I have the MDA Vario IV.
Recently, I have had a strange problem when using my slide out keyboard. When I use the onscreen keyboard, I can see the text as I type. However, when I use the slide out keyboard, I can see the cursor moving as I type, but I can't see the text being typed. This happens when composing an SMS, typing into Google's search box, entering log in details for Facebook, etc etc.
As I am Deaf, I obviously use SMS and emails a lot, so this is a problem, as I find the slide out keyboard MUCH easier to use than the onscreen one.
Hope you can help.
Wayne.
How fast do you begin typing after you slide out the keyboard? I know sometimes when I begin typing too quickly after sliding it out that the cursor will move while I'm typing but no letters will be displayed...but then they all pop up at once.
Have you used a tweaking tool or registry editor to turn on ClearType in Landscape?
There is a known issue with the font not displaying.

Hi mate...
Ahhh, that could be it...let me try it & get back to you.
You are correct David....that WAS the problem!
Thanks - all working fine now
keyboard lag solved - possible software conflict
I had tried all the above fixes and they helped, but did not fully alleviate the lag. I was getting annoyed and wishing my hermes was still alive.
Then I remembered that the only real difference in my keyboard setups between the fuze and the 8525 was that I was using the iphone like full qwerty sip instead of the keyboard sip. i selected the finger unfriendly keyboard sip, and voila the slide ouy now has instantaneous response. no lag at all.
It seems to be that the full qwerty sip option forces a t9 function even when you have all that turned off.
Happy again except for the laggy shift between portrait and land scape.
now to find an iphone sip clone that doesnt affect the slideout. By the way this is with the recent stock att rom.
further issues with keyboard
The lagging keyboard issue continues to nag me. it seems to be related to the fuze having a difficuly time with switching to landscape mode. for instance in opera mini when i switched to landscape to type this there is no lag. if I am using messaging for text or email, when I switch to landscape, the lag occurs until I change the sip. it doesnt matter which sip i change to or from, just that it gets changed. i suspect that it has something to do with resetting the keyboard drivers. anyone else noting this problem. Anyone know of a fix? I have t9x turned off, cleartype turned off.

[Q] problem with typing...

When im typing on my phone, it usually works fine for a little then starts to lag and some keys i press dont work... i dont know if this is a problem with the touchscreen or the software. if i lock the phone and unlock it, usually it will work. so im hoping it isnt the keyboard. is there a solution for this?

I have noticed this bug on sense 2.1 roms. If you rotate the screen it will switch keyboards and fix it and you can just rotate it back. I have never experienced this on 3.0 and higher sense roms. I think its just a bug on 2.1.
Also it has been a reported bug on CM7 roms, I believe its CM7 roms or maybe older versions too. There is no current fix. Some users just use a keyboard from the market like swiftkey or something like that. Its an app you have to pay for, but seems to get rid of the issue.
I ran into a similar issue last night when I was typing a post on another forum. My keyboard lagged greatly and then just stop responding for a few seconds. However it seemed to only happen when I was in my browser typing on the forum page. It was happening on Dolphin Browser and the stock browser. I tested it with three different keyboards (Swiftkey X, Gingerbread Keyboard, and stock Sense keyboard). All lagged. Restarting didn't resolve. The lag did not happen with other apps like GO SMS, Twitter, or Facebook. Nor did it happen on a couple other websites I tested on. I noticed when I turned off the vibration, or lowered the vibrate time, the lag lessened. I'm thinking it's an issue with memory or processing speed, but I have no idea how I would test or resolve something like that.
I'm running ARHD 6.1.5, only slightly OC'd.
Now that I think about it. It sounds like all 2.3.3 based roms have this bug, aosp or sense.

Keyboard becomes very slow when typing a lot of information

Not sure I've seen this before. I'm fully stock with an unlocked bootloader and when writing an email or a post of any lenght, my keyboard begins to slow down to a crawl and is almost unresponsive at times. Anyone has similar experience or how can I solve this problem.
I've had this problem for a while now, completely stock through all of the point releases. Restarting helps for a little bit. Now I swipe everything I type to cut down on the lag. I rarely turn my phone sideways to type anymore. That's one way to fix it, lol.
Only seen this happening since the last Google Keyboard update, myself. A reboot fixed it up though.

Keyboard edge miss typing => reverse letter

Hello,
I've since the update 10.5.8 and 10.5.9, I've got miss typing on the edge
When i'm typing a word starting on the edge/curve screen, the word is in 2nd position instead of 1st position :
meme => emem
pq => qp
aux => uax
autant => uatant
qd = dq
This is like pocophone when the phone get out there was a touchscreen bug for 6 months then they've fixed it so no more reverse letter
Now it's a regression from OnePlus because on previous firmware i didn't have any issue
I'm on stock rom just rooted and BL unlock
I'm the only one ?
It's happening the same to me. I'm going to try another keyboard app, I'm using Gboard.
Stock ROM here but not rooted.
Edit: it only happens to me if using Gboard, but it works fine with SwiftKey. Try it.
I've used touchpal on my old phone and with oneplus i wanted to used stock app (now i liked it, it's very difficult to change )
i've tried swiftkey and go keyboard and i've still got some miss type but not as much as gboard and i don't really like it
But this happen since latest update only with 10.5.7 i have no issue at all

I tried SwiftKey yesterday but I don't like it as I cannot switch from Spanish QWERTY keyboard (with Ñ) to Portuguese QWERTY keyboard (with Ç). Gboard can do it...
I think we have to write slower til Oneplus fixes it... :silly:
Yeah, i've open a case since 10.58.0 but we have so much isssue with google stuff
also Chrome freezing issue

But I think is some Google related problem. I was owning a Huawei P30 before OP8 (since more than a year and until 2 weeks ago) and Google Chrome was freezing also there (the trick was going to homescreen and then open Chrome back again, that fixes it temporary until another freeze hahaha). So I don't think that's related with OP8, but not sure.
I've uninstall Webview android so it's stock one and i don't have that much miss typing...
I didn't install the update from play store but for the mom i'm staying like that
I have this problem even when using other keyboards

And what does Android Webview have to do with this keyboard issue?
Another one with the same problem. It seems that this issue is fixed with Swiftkey but I don't like it at all. I've contacted with One Plus support but the only solution that they gave me was sending to RMA.
I've tried with the Android 11 Beta 2 but the issue persists...
oh double post
Really ? They may change our screen for this issue ?
This happen since 10.5.8 update before that I've didn't have any issue.
It's like a driver issue.. but it's seems we are only a few people who are affected by this issue
They can change with 8T for me
My issue is similar to yours. The error appears when I press "ai" or "qi" quickly or with two thumbs - the result is "ia" and "iq" even though I believe I pressed "a" and "q" first. On the edges of the screen, there is a small delay in input. The problem isn't unique to physical edges, as all "a" and "q" buttons can be delayed even if they are not directly pressed on the edge. My conclusion is that this confirms the existence of a software bug. Is this something that can be fixed? I find it quite uncomfortable to type with two thumbs. Would it be possible to change this? It is on a Nordic keyboard, and "q" and "a" is located right at the screen edge. There is no difference in the problem no matter what keyboard I use, including Gboard (despite its small buffer between the screen edge and the leftmost key). For practicing typing, I found a free online typing test tool to see how fast you type. Also, it will help you remember the keys. It's an easy and enjoyable way to check your typing skills.
