[Radio] Baseband 2.41.04.02.03 | For Fresh Rom 2.0b - Hero CDMA Android Development

Geek for Me is proud to release:
Updated Radio.img for Android 2.1 (radio version 2.41.04.02.03) for Fresh Rom 2.0b
Thanks to toast for the moral support, and for being the first to test this on his phone. Haha.
This has only been tested and confirmed as working on Fresh 2.0b
Flashing an updated radio will typically give you better battery life and better signal
This won't fix any current problems with the 2.x roms, but it will make your phone more effecient
Don't hold me responsible if you brick your phone
Don't flash this unless you have a CDMA Hero
I wouldn't flash this unless you are on Fresh 2.0b
In case you are wondering, our stock one is 1.04.01.09.21
Check this post for how to flash it: How To: Flash a Radio Update Sprint HTC Hero

So just a quick question, if I flash this and for some reason I want to restore back to a previous rom will this affect me from doing so?

howcome the version in your screenshot is 2.41.05.02.03 ?

its a typo mine matches the screen shot

Might this finally make my phone show its connected to rev. a? You know know that bug..

I am waiting on the answer about rolling back to 1.5 roms

@linkinx64 its a radio update. I dont see why i would be compatible....just saying.

LOL ... i get your point . I am just a little bit skeptical

well i flashed it, i got insurance.

Let us know if it makes a difference, please.

All the radios that flipz has just posted will work and not leave u with a brick. But... sometimes shot happens.

Ok flashing :-s
So far so good..someone in flipz website said that he is seeing a great improvement in battery life

Because the flashing process for a radio is a little different, I'm wondering if I went back to Fresh 1.1 if this radio will work or if I'll have to flash a different radio? Correct me if I'm wrong, but wiping data/flashing roms does NOT change the radio, and it's like a separate firmware entirely...?
I'm leery about flashing if I have to go back to 1.5 and not having a correct radio or not being able to downgrade.

I was thinking the same. but radio should not have anything to do with the ROM, besides I am staying 2.1 until the official release

I flashed without any issues. Just make sure you have some battery life left.. probably wouldn't want your phone dying in the middle of this.
Looks good so far to me. As I said, my battery life was already noticeably improved just by updating from 1.5 to this ROM, would be great if this increases it's longevity even more!
Thanks for all the work Flipz/Toast!

Seems to be working just fine on 1.5 Rom. I will update if I experience anything bad.
Great job Flipz!

K, so this is from newest to oldest I see, top-down..
Oh, and of course the grand question of it all, does the new wimaxx "write" itself..
Thanks..
Yes I flashed them and verified they all write correctly
is the lates radio and wimax update available to be used with the newest fresh evo 0.5.3, or does it still require yesterdays OTA update system files.
6.10 when did this happen

K, going to to test the new wimaxx radio.. Thanks Cal for this always..
Hopfully this will work with the new DC 3.2.2.1.. Or just the rooted rom you made of the OTA..
Oh, can we please get update 1.2 or 2.0 since this is a new rom.. From you..
I always trust things from you as I have from the Moment.. Thanks Dude..
I'm new to android/rooting so I have a couple of questions. I just did a full root, and from what I've read, I just have to get into recovery mode (via prompt -> "adb reboot recovery", is there a easier way?) and then select the package and install from the menu, right? Aside from that, is it safe to downgrade radios in the case where a newer one performs poorly?

Yeah, if you run into an issue with a radio, feel free to play around and find which one works for you.
Personally, I've had all sorts of issues with the newest 3G radio. Lots of data connection lost message, and other garbage.
Okay, I want to make a note of this:
This is for CalKulins good work..
I have tested the new wimaxx and it works, it really writes and works.. I can now access 4G on the new 1.47 ota.. And all others under it.. Along with great reception and all working well with the new radio..
K, Thats out the way, this is for you others who are leery, go on and flash, it is fixed..
Not sure if those links are signed (for protected recovery users) but they are available below if needed .

Cool.. I'm flashing the newest ones now. I just remember their being issues when flashing back to older radios on WinMo, of course, this ain't WinMo anymore but it never hurts to be sure.
can I use these with the new fresh rom
I'm interested in knowing the same as others, is it possible to just flash over any other ROM, like Fresh or does it have to be the over new OTA system files only?
Thanks!
Can this be flashed on top of the Unrevoked root?
Worked great, thanks Calk.
Scanning forever, but that's to be expected with the newest radio/older firmware.
thanks for the links. Worked great
I'm currently on DC 3.2.2 with the latest Radio (2.05.00.06.10) and the oldest WiMax (24722).
My MAC address currently matches the one on my rear label.
I'm not 100% sure on what my next step should be. I'm not sure how one updates the PRL/Profile, but I've seen it mentioned a lot. Should I just grab the latest WiMax from here and flash it? I unfortunately have no 4G near me to test my phone to make sure it's even working right now, but I will be in Baltimore a lot this summer and wish to use it there.
From what I can see the wimax radio did not overwrite my mac address but no 4G so

If your having slow data speeds on AOSP Builds...

If anyone is having slow data speeds for the AOSP builds, CM7, or the like, I flashed the recommended radio and BAM my speeds are back to 4.5 down and 1.5 up. This might be common knowledge and if so just delete the thread, but I was having consistently good data speeds on every sense rom even without the recommended radio, and for some reason when I flashed adamholden's ROM with the stock radio was getting as low as .2 down and .8 up, and after a helpful suggestion to flash the radio through HBOOT (just putting the PD98IMG file on my sd and booting into the bootloader and letting it do its thing) which was way easier in my opinion than all the eng s-off stuff, not to mention safer, my speeds are back up to the normal 4.5 down and 1.5 up. Hope this helps, because I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out all this new radio stuff (came from the captivate).

I see in your sig you've got TPGB's AOSP ROM, so you must be referring to radio version 26.06.06.30. This is the new stock radio that HTC pushed out a couple of weeks ago to the stock Inspires. This has been a great radio for me as well.

Yes. In my market, most custom ROMs run slow without the APN fix.
I think this ROM already has the fix implemented (I'm back on CM7).

ROM issue

I tried installing BAMF 3.0 RC2 on my phone, and I can't seem to get it working properly. Upon startup it force closes a bunch of things and the radio shows no signal at all. I have ran the MD5 on the download to ensure integrity. Also did a complete wipe prior to flashing. Could this be a radio problem? I haven't done any radio upgrades.

when you say everything is the same, do you mean it still has the previous radio version number?
I'd suggest that you both:
1) Wipe data/dalvik/cache and flash back to a froyo ROM where you do have a signal
2) Upgrade from froyo to the MR2/2.5 radio
3) Re-wipe data/dalvik/cache (or even do it twice for good luck ) and re-flash BAMF 3.0
If its worth doing, its worth overdoing, especially when you're messing with radios and the like. Best of luck!
That's the same problem I first had with gingeritis before flashing the correct radio.. if you are still experiencing the problems after the radio flash i would suggest confirming the radio did install by checking the version number..
if it is all correct do as MattBeyers said and wipe and reflash
Thanks, that seemed to work. I still got a couple of force closes but much less than before. Also I can see my radio now! If I wanted to restore my old my Backup (Stock Froyo - MR1), do I restore my backup then flash MR1? If so, does anyone have a link the MR1 image? TIA!
I'm always one to upgrade/downgrade radios before I flash a ROM, so I would say to downgrade to MR1 and then flash the Froyo backup. Also, try going into ROM manager and using the Fix Permissions tool to see if that helps with some of the force closes.

I just feel like the radio, being the thing that, well, controls every useful function on the phone, should be installed and present when a new ROM is flashed. I may be wrong, but it would seem logical to me that a new ROM would talk to the radio in order to make sure everything is kosher. But what if that's something that a ROM will only do once, at the first boot, and not once a new radio is flashed? Then, all of a sudden, you have the right radio, but its configured improperly by your ROM, since the ROM has already gone through its initial boot set up with the old radio. Therefore, my theory is radio > ROM (Please note, theory. )
Make sure u have a gb radio mr2 or mr2.5

This makes sense from a logical reason. Perhaps a ROM developer on this site can confirm this.

[Q] GB to ICS & BACK to GB....Possible?

I am very much interested in ICS ROM, but one basic question:
If the Radio is not good for my region, esp. the voice clarity thing, and I wish to revert back to the GB ROM with the current RADIO which is on my sensation....would the Nandroid thing work on it???? Or anyway to download the radio which is currently there in my sensation...if yes, How do i find out the Radio for my sensation??
Someone please guide me...
I was flashing ICS ROM yestarday, but things didn't go right. Restored NAND and everything is working, and i still have back my old radio.
I have seen a few reports of going back to a GB ROM over in the InsertCoin thread, so it would seem like reverting back would be an option. It would also depend on whether or not you did the full process of upgrading to an ICS ROM including updating the firmware, because I believe 4.0.1 can be run on the original firmware but 4.0.3 you must update it. According to what I have seen regarding InsertCoin anyways.
Also, I want to say that you can find your radio information if you boot into hboot. (Take battery out, hold VOL down and power). Not 100% sure though, I usually just use it to hop into recovery.
Hope I helped
I flip flopped a couple times now, just make sure u reflash gb firmware if u upgraded for ics, and always use the radio reccomended with the rom. I've had no issues.
Here's my last 4 roms, in case anyone cares.

Flashing a rom or backup doesnt change your radio. You have to go through your bootloader for that. I havent heard any bad news about going back to GB as long as older 10.xx radios are flashed as well. And people have actually gone back succesfully while keeping newer firmware and hboot. And by people i mean me lol. I have a insertcoin GB 3.4.5 backup on tap i use regularly cuz we all know ICS is still learning how to walk on our sensations

Did you flash the radio separately? I am having the problem now as I did a NAND restore to GB, but the radio is still 11.xx...I think the battery is draining more with it. You can flash a radio through hboot screen just like you did with ICS firmware. Im not sure but i dont think the firmware zip from the dec tmo ota had radio included as all radios are rolled up in a thread in the dev section. Theres a radio flashing guide somwhere too

I personally have nothing but random reboots/bootloops on all of "UndeadK9's" ROMs. Some ppl say this as well, others swear its the most stable ROM out there.
MT4GS Lite 1.2.3 is going to be extremely stable... But Bulletproof uses the same ROM base and its awesome with stability and battery life with newly implemented UV/OC kernels.
Very active/ helpful dev who knows his stuff on Bulletproof.
Not trying to tell u Lite won't be stable, but bulletproof will b just as/ if not more stable and battery life will prob b better.
Just my spare change.
I recommend Bulletproof. However I dislike the green hue, so I just copied and pasted all the apk's I wished to replace from Lite.
Some of the rom threads in the dev group are freakin massive(random) any way... thinking about trying out bulletproof im reading good things, but right on the newly updated thread it seems to say s-on may be a problem.
Can somebody clarify if im using the fast boot method to flash a new boot.img prior to flashing a new rom, should i worry about not having s-off?
Side note when if at all should i be wiping the data prior to flashing a new rom?
Out of those two I suggest Rubix expresso 1.3 over on Rootz. It is the final iteration of Crack Injected. It is my go to ROM when I want to get back from the bleeding edge and go to software that just works. I have links to it on the Rootz threaad as the other links are dead. Flash 1.2 then 1.3 to get set.
It is very close to Bulletproof but it's tweaked slightly in a couple of places. Bulletproof is great too.

I have a problem with bulletproof 1.1 wifi keeps disconnecting and eventually disables itself. Not sure where i went wrong with the installation if i did. Reinstalled twice, did a full wipe but wifi wouldnt work.

The rom is actually fine. False alarm. I screwed up some proxy settings so it wouldn't work, but it works now. Sorry

Nope, s-on (unlocked) is no problem. Now that I was able to figure out how to set one of my doubleshots back to S-ON and then unlock it through HTC, i'm running fine and you should have no issues.
I will be supplying a new kernel for bulletproof when I get a chance to update the ROM again, meantime it's still the stock kernel in it but with an insecure boot image.
If you have issues right after flashing (wifi doesn't work) then you'll have to flash the kernel separately through fastboot, but again, for S-ON unlocked this is no problem.

You should always wipe your data and cache between ROMs, but on bulletproof (and any script i've ever released, actually) I handle all that for you so you can just flash and go.
I just think it's just good coding practice for the developer to take care of this step instead of leaving it up to the chance of the user not doing it.
