Ultimate Start - new Start Menu and Skype audio routing - HTC Vox

Guys, there is one very good application released on PocketGear. I have it on my s740 and apart from being perfect new Start Menu with some very very useful features it can route audio to an earpiece when Skype is active. Also it has Task and Process Manager and it is fully animated. Just wanted to let you know.
Here are some screenshots and detail description.

Skype
by the way "it can route audio to an earpiece when Skype is active": long time ago I read a thread (I'm not sure if it was a Vox thread about skype problem. I think there was a way to find a solution without using ultimate start....
Unfortunately I can't find it again. Can anybody help how to use Skype without backside loudspeaker ? Or does anybody know in which tweak is the explanation to solve problem ?
Regards odiad

There is no tweak to do that. You need some application to do it for you. And there are not many applications that can do that. But that's just a bonus feature of Ultimate Start. Start Menu part of the application is really something.

hello Callah,
yes I saw that feature in Ultimate start. But I don't like the generell function - the modified start menu (I tried the demo version).
And so it don't make sense for me to buy this tool only to to fix Skype problem. Does anybody else a way or a tool to fix Skype earpiece bug? Would be nice if such a tool is freeware.
Regards Odiad

if you want skype and the earpiece:
Use Nimbuzz
Amazing multi messenger, supporting almost all im's AND skype AND SIP and uses the normal earpiece!!!

I would love to here what you don't like about the start menu. I find it very useful.
Thanks

Hi Callah,
my test of Ultimate Start was quite short because Demoversion of tool didn't allow so many process steps. But that was not so important.
One reason why I don't like the tool was that I prefer the start menu as a list, not grid view. But if Ultimate Start would be so excellent that I could say "wow thats it" - then I could also accept grid view.
And second reason was that in test, when I pressed start menu, I had to wait a little bit until start menu appears. And thats annoying for me. The S710 seems to be a little bit too slow to show good performance. I don't know if it is the same on all S710, but in case of my phone it was so (WM6.5.3 from fireburned).
So that are my reasons why I don't like it.

Thanks. What I like about it is T9 search of whole start menu. I don't know if you tried it. It is just like in Contacts. You can get to almost any application or bookmark in just 2-3 key presses.
That second reason you mentioned...I agree. Reason for slow start is probably because application is written in Compact Framework. But...good thing is that you need to wait that long only once when you turn on your phone (my phone is always on). After that application stays in memory just like default start menu and activates fast when you click Start again.
I have read some bad comments about UI on some forums, some people describing it as Windows 3.1 style. But I can't disagree more on that. I think it looks very good. But that maybe just a question of taste.

It looks like many developers are dropping prices (possibly because of WP7). This application is now only 1$, 80% off!

Text Problem!! This really sucks

Ok so when I get a text or email on my TF3D and I open the email or text. Then I hit reply/open the qwerty and the box comes. then I start to type and it goes into my phone!! I x the phone out and im back to main display with qwerty open. So then I have to go back in messages select message and reply.
Anyone else????? This is frustrating when you are trying to type a quick message.
Yes i have encountered this problem, not just with texting. Try pairing with bluetooth in landscape...i bet the passcode prompt does that same thing?

If issues like this dont get fixed I will dump this in the garbage drawer, sad but windows really needs to get stupid stuff like this figured out. I never have these issues with RIM and other devices.

This is my first windows phone that has had the hardware I like so I havent really done all the cooked and hacks etc..
Can you link me to this I would love to keep this phone.
Thanks!
I think I have read somewhere that you should give it a sec or 2 before you actually start typing the qwerty.
This way you will have the same window infront of you.
Regarding BT, that really sucks but still a one time thing if it's a headset and you do not pair devices every day...
But all in all, I think we shouldn't be worried.
This is just S/W ****ty bugs that will be fixed when we have our great chefs cook their 3rd or 4th ROM release we will have satisfying results.
I just hope this forum gets the attention that was on Kaiser, then we will all enjoy
I remember Kaiser's WM6 ROMs had a similar bug,
Comm Manager kept popping every now and then infront of you and was fixed in time...
We have to keep in mind that this is the start and we will have to be keen on all threads posted around.
I just hope we get all the help from the greatest devs at Diamond forum as it won't be alot different.
Differences in time will be known to chefs and as they cook a Diamond ROM they can add some stuff and release it to Raph as well.
Way ahead of myself aren't I
Alot to look forward to, which is the fun of WinMo IMO
Cheers
the other way of doing it is to wait until the reply screen is actually shown before you open the keyboard.
If i hit reply in TF3d and then immediately open the keyboard before the compose screen has appeared, then yes, it does exactly as you describe.
if i hit reply, and then open the keyboard AFTER the compose screen has appeared, no such problem.
you need to let the messaging app open before you open the keyboard, otherwise the opening of the keyboard triggers tf3D, not the messaging.
Minor bug, and one that will no doubt be fixed soon enough by the devs here.

Programs close on "X" and when pressing Home button

Hey,
I bought a Touch Pro some days ago and sometimes have an annoying problem:
When pressing the "X" button of an app or pressing the phone's home button, all apps doesn't get minimized but they get closed. Then I have to restart the phone to get rid of the behaviour.
At the moment I can't reproduce this issue.
Does somebody experienced the same? Do you have any ideas to solve this?
Thanks,
Raphaelo08
As from my knwledge there are a lot of programs who catch in their code the x button and are closing themselves (they use some tricks because the WM developers never intended to have one program closed, they wanted to remain in the memory so the next time you start it it will start much faster...etc).I have seen this affirmation on some forum from a guy who had a link to the msdn forums, but it was long ago.
Had the same issue.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=424505
This explains the fix, has worked a treat for me.
Hey guys,
thanks for your responses.
I applied the fix and will post some feedback in the next days.
Thanks!

Hello again,
just little feedback:
The problem has almost gone away but it's not fully gone.
E.g. using Beejive messenger and mort player at the same time can cause the issue when you're trying to surf through the system.

Same with me... especially full screen aps like tom tom but also opera/google maps tend to kill all apps.... This is not the case with the diamond. I have a friend who has one and he has a lot of apps running in the background...

Right now, when I open many apps and return to the home screen. All apps in the back get terminated... I cannot just check a location on opera and return to Google Maps... no I have to start the application (google maps) all over again. That also happens with small apps in the background.
This is seriously driving me mad
I need a solution
Hey,
for Opera there is also a fix available. Follow the link z3r0l0g1c posted.

Well, it is not only opera related... it happens with every app after some time - and than constantly. A soft reset temporarily solves the problem... I need a permanent solution
Registry Path: HKCU\Software\HTC\Task Manager
Suspect 1: EnableAutoKill=1 (try changing it to 0?)
Suspect 2: MemoryThreshold
This might help.
Suspect 2 must be changed to a size of about 20MB and or Suspect 1 must be turned to 0 (in order to disable it)
Hey,
thanks for the hint.
Will edit that asap.

What will you edit XD? Something on your device or add it to a list of tweaks
Since I'm not using a Raphael, I do not know whether it apply to you but it apply to me. I am using O2 Atom Life.
Certain application, when started requested too much memory which causes WM to start closing other running applications. After this happens, it seems like WM keeps going on with this behaviour until a soft reset. In another word, WM keeps closing running applications running in background.
The following are the software which causes the behaviour:
Opera 9.5
SKTools FreeUP RAM (with all options applied)
Free Mem (by Oxios?)
So, the only way to identify the culprit, soft reset. Then try running any applications. Each time, check whether other applications are closed. If after running a certain applications and other background applications are closed, then that application is the culprit. Remember, after the effect is applied, it doesn't matter if that application is still running or not, WM will start closing background applications.
Hey,
most time my RAM usage isn't higher than 50% so WM shouldn't be that fussy. But I will keep that in mind.
@Jorlin:
I edited it on my device. Shall I add it to the list of tweaks?

Manila 2D and Easy Contact

Hi there,
I'm using Manila 2D and Easy Contact. Before, I was using iContact, and if I clicked on "All People" in the M2D-Tab, there comes up iContact. But with Easy Contact, there comes the normal Outlook-Contacts of WM... Any idea?
Thx,
MCXSC
Well, this isn't really an answer to your question (I think this is just a good time to throw it out there), but it would be nice if there was a way to set default programs, like on a PC.
Then problems like this might be non-existent.

Actually you can, using programs like SKTools, or I believe Schap's Advanced Configuration.
Try checking your settings in easy contact as i now use easy contact and it launches from all people and from contacts in my dialler it has fully replaced the old wm contacts

Facebook Chat on HD2

This one goes to all the windows phone newcomers who are looking for a way to use facebook chat on their new HTC LEO / HD2, which lacks from both native winmo facebook app, and HTC Sense facebook integration.
The software name is FIM (Facebook Instant Messenger) and beside the fb chat it integrates many of the core facebook features like status feed, notifications, photo post, and pretty much everything else via Facebook's mobile site.
Most important is that the software is finger friendly and I'm using it myself on HD2, so later I will post a video of the software on HD2 for those who still consider buying this awesome device.
You can find the rest of the details here
You can also download it directly on your device by navigating to http://get.mosko.mobi
will give it a go
Good job

excellent app, congrats
fantastic app! best facebook app ive used on the HD2 yet! thank you!!!
does not work on 3G -1
How much is this likely to kill the battery if it was left running in the background?
I'm fairly sure it was Palringo that gave me my battery issues when I first got the HD2.
While we're talking about Facebook app on HD2, how come i can't see my thumbs of my uploaded pictures? Is this a setting somewhere or just a bug?
Thank you very much, been looking for exactly this.......
I am trying to dl this, but it looks like the website is down?
same here, seems broken? anyone got the cab?
great ap though it does drain the battery got a percentage icon running and you can see it counting down
Site seems to be working again!
Hi, excellent app! love it. BUT......
...95% of the time when I open fim and try to sign in it fails to connect and pops up with the message "Failed using the internet connection. Try to restart your data connection". This is on my HD2 which I've only had for a few days and it's also my first winmo so I'm a complete noob. It doesnt matter how many times I turn on/off wifi it makes no difference and I get the same error both on my wifi at home and at work so I'm a bit baffled - especially as it does occasionally work first try.
If anyone can point me in the direction of where I'm going wrong I will be eternally grateful lol.
Cheers,
Matt
Thanks a lot for this, it's a damn shame the official Facebook app totally sucks compared to the iPhone version which allows for so much more. It's small things like this that make the whole device user experience suck. It's not HTC's fault.

Hi all, +1 for the same problem. but i'm not a complete noob and not in wifi.
edit: I may have found the solution "Incorrect Email/Password Combination": but you are positively sure you entered everything correctly? well, if you have special characters in your email or password replace them. only numbers, English letters and of course @ at the email allowed, also keep in mind that facebook passwords are case sensitive."

WM6.5 and Avaya as dialler

Hi,
I am new on this portal but I read a lot in the last days and was very surprised of the solutions you find and also the apps you made working. Great
I know its not looking very good to ask as newbie for help but I hope you can help me... I am searching for more than a week for a solution and tried even to edit the registry but unfortunately I am not good enough to find the solution
So what do I want do to?
I have a HD2 (branding free) and I want to install Avaya One-X mobile.
Well the installation was succesfull and I also get it running inside my company and also the private modus. But since I have it installed I hear no ringtone. It always plays an "ding" and thats all.
So right now I always have to keep my eyes on my mobile to see if someone calls me or not.
And the second problem is that I also get no caller picture displayed..
But as soon as I deinstall the one-x everything is working (phone rings and caller picture is displayed)????
So you are my last hope to find a solution. Please can you help me?
If you need any further infos please let me know
Thanks
Frank
oh... the one-x mobile software is free for download on the avaya webiste
I can post you the link later (I am not allowed to post it right now...)
i'm getting mad with it...
Now I am a step further.. I now that the software deactivates the onboard call handler. I think it is only a registry setting to reenable it. after done the caller name+picture should be displayed and even the call-slider should be back.
Does someone have an idea where I can find the entry?
well now I know exactly the differents between the registry with one-x installed vs without. But I have no experiences in reading/interpreting my results.
Is a Dword something which can be used as name? or is it only a value?
Does someone has a guide for beginners please?
Did you contact Avaya support for assistance?
I have recently taken over all our telecoms at the office (avaya system)
Saw your post on One-x and been reading a little on it. Where did you get the install files from and did you get it working in the end?
I have a support contact with a company called central so I can contact them for free advice if needed
is this the version you are using?
http://support.avaya.com/css/appman...loads/P0438/5.2.x/C201012083328498084#summary
I'll take a look at what the installer does as I've not heard of it before but it's not letting me register to download it .
yep that's the software I am trying to download
Could not create an account either
I have emailed my support company and they will be sending the software to me on a disc.
thanks for your responses.
I installed the version for pocketpc WM6 (not the UC version) and yes it is working fine
But:
The problem I have is that since I have it installed it
- my mobile does not play a ringtone any more
- "slide to answer" and "show caller name+picture" is away
When I get the disc tomorrow ill post up the results.
This app will be very helpful if i get it working
As for the no ringtone issue I am not sure.
I would attach it... but i have no permissions...
@ fards: there are two versions. one for "Windows mobile 5"and the other one for "Windows mobile pocket pc" (here you can find it for WM6). the first is a UC versions. For this you need an internet connection and a uc-server running in your company. the other one is for normal mobile use. it calls via the phone connection the server and then your call is managed by the server.
support.avaya.com/css/appmanager/public/support/Downloads/P0483/C20090710162819340875658#files
you can find it here for free and you need no login
I do not see the HD2 listed as compatible device.
Did you get it working or still having problems?
How does the Avaya interface on the mobile phone look like?
Is it replacing the WM dialer completly or only while Avaya software is running in the background?
I have just installed it onto my HD2. The install hung at the end for about 20 mins. Reset device and the software has replaced my dialer. Appears to be working but im reading on how to configure the ini file now.
Tested on personal mode and call connected fine.
it replaces the dialer completly...
for the ini file you need the settings of your ACM. here you have to enter different extensions for each function...
you also has to to enter your mobile number in the ACM. Because your are identified via your number.
But can you test if you get a ringtone for incoming calls? thats my problem. I get no
Just to draw a conclusion to this This topic. This solution does not work correctly on HD2. Unless someone has managed to do this and has not shared?
sry... I was offline for a while... Does somesone find the solution?
No i gave up in the end..... bloody crap
