yeah, for some reason this wallpaper excites me. i have it on my nexus one and it would be great to see it on the hero

well i got it to install, but it force closes...some things need to be edited just not sure what exactly

My dog could draw better graphics than that one has.

it's the one from the htc desire. like i said it works on the desire and since someone got the desire rosie.apk ported, i thought that maybe it would be possible to get it to work. maybe it has some dependencies on the desire framework...im not too sure.

I'm looking through the file and i think its only a matter of it looking for a different renderer engine than the one that are on our phone. I almost got it. Just give me like a couple more hours, or sooner. lol

Ah, that one. Yeah, that one's pretty cool. Not a "must have", but it would be cool to have on my phone as an option.
I could make a youtube video of the one I was referring to, but trust me, it's not worth it...
Now, for a completely unrelated question....
How do I get one of the demo phones? I've done all the right things. Tried the phone stock when it was fresh out of the box, tried better roms, wiped EVERYTHING and then reflashed the fastest roms I've found, and my phone has never, ever been as snappy as what they show in these demo videos.
Makes me wonder if they build special demo phones that have a 3ghz core 2 quad in them with three and a half minutes of battery life.... (just enough to do a quick demo and then run back to the booth for a fresh battery...)

Someone leaked it to modaco a while ago. As for messing around with it. Install it and run logcat to see why it fails. Then use smali or the apktool from the g1 forums to modify it.

Is there anyway I can get Friends Stream for fresh's 2.1 ROM?

Its been discussed before. The frameworks are different.

legend roms only right now, make a choice. DarchLegend is a solid rom.

For me its either Darch or Flipz...the best roms IMO.
Friend Stream is such a nice widget for integrating facebook and twitter that I may have to go back to Darch.
I love that the Flipz rom is based off the sprint leak but I feel like its still lacking all the benefits of the Legend builds...

I meant when you said Flipz' rom was lacking all the benefits of a Legend rom, I just wanted to know what benefits besides the Friend Stream. I too think that Flipz and Darch make the best roms, I just haven't had a chance to try out DarchLegend v5 yet. I loved v4.3.

Friend stream was the main thing but some other apps don't seem to work for me right now like epocrates...
That said, both are solid...

Well one of the better features on the legend Rom is the browser that comes along with it. It has a very cool copy and paste feature that is also tied with easy dictionary and translation access.

Can't we just load the APK up ourselves?

Thanks...I gave that a shot but it just says "did not install".
I have allow untrusted checked off too so...maybe it needs to be resignedi don't know...

It's not a matter of getting it installed. It has dependencies on other apks images and framework files. It will never work on another Rom unless some ports all its dependencies over which well no one seems to want to do.
It cannot just be installed and work believe me. I wish it was that simple.

Does anyone know where com.HTC.rosieutility is located or what on here could still be causing it to fc on boot it doesn't affect the phone at all its just annoying seeing that every reboot

Yup you'll still be rooted with toasts method at least never touch the unrevoked root
I have no idea about 4g I would say probably not since I didn't change anything in that regard
I'll get back to u on the market

Aw, darn. I thought this was actually an AOSP ROM. This is basically already what I've done to my stock ROM.

you will never get an aosp rom. 2.1 doesn't support wimax or the high video drivers. htc made the updates needed for those.

Ya sry about that but to be honest I like the little HTC touches here and there it actually tends to complement vanilla more then you might realize

WOW. almost 300 posts and you were WAITING for someone to rm a few apk's and then add one or 2? NO offense to you and i appreciate op just going thru the effort to share and ul, WE should all appreciate any contribution and if you have a problem with it just dont comment or use it. Just dont understand why you wouldnt just take 10 minutes and do it yourself. It takes ops longer cus hes also got wait for it to upload so he can share. This is not a crack and i am not a child. This is just my 2cents and what i thought while reading this comment.

Good job. Thanks for the speedy contribution towards our shiny new evo rom collection I remember liking sense and aosp so i like both and i always wanted sense to run right. That was everyones complaint with sense. Well thats not an issue anymore. I thought i would be all on it, like with my hero w/o thinking.....well as soon as i got my evo i forgot all that i learned about root and why to do it....JK but i am very satisfied with it and i will wait until i can access recovery and rw to system from device before i do. I spent the whole time i had my hero trying to make it into a device like this.....well now i have it Gimme a week and i think ill go to work.......

This is just the stock ROM with Sprint apps, HTC widgets, and the Sense launcher removed. It is still loaded with Sense.

as you can see i thougth sense was removed completely and if you think you can do that by just removing a few apks show me. also even if i had 1000 post, this could be my very 1st android phone and those 1000 posts wouldn't mean a damn thing, just my 2cents, if you don't have anything helpful to say, shut up.

Until we have fully functional aosp/froyo/2.2 you wont have a rom that will even work without a bunch of sense remnants wasting space on your internal storage and increasing rom size.HTC is a shiny ui htc used to lure in all the apple morons(no offense i used to have an iphone before my hero). and since they made the devices, they're plaguing software/htc sense is an integral part of the ruu they put together. This is the reason everyone always wants a non-sense rom or VANILLA. We will not have full function vanilla until toast or someone else here compiles an0ther makeshift kernel, or lastly when htc releases the source so that we can compile a kernel with the right device drivers, to give us a full function rom. It would be to say the least, very very very hard to just compile the right drivers for the htc device hardware, thus all the aosp/froyo with certain features such as cam, or 4G missing.......hope this helps you und3rstand what you are looking for a little bit more clearly. In theory, YOU or I could create the source code for the kernel and drivers. Is that going to HAPPEN?????????????????? Probably not. Dont worry though, we have toast, so we happen to have a head start in the race.....

Rosies gone and most of the apps that where randomly coming on and wasting mem/batt. Are gone this is all I'm worried and it runs nice as **** I mean has anybody that had something bad to say even try it

search my name in xda search youll find PLENTY of inter3sting things ive said. Do your own homework before instulting me or anyone else please.I meant neither of you any disrespect. I was explaining myself a little better and when i put up the 2nd post i saw this. This is an open forum right? well thats my opinion and some info. If you dl'd the rom you would see all the sense remnants yourself, resulting in less thread clutter,simultaneously answering your own question. I was trying to inform you in my second post. I noticed what you did when i looked. Just wondering, were you unhappy with your evo when you got it? or did you just make a new rom to give everyone another choice of rom? or maybe even your personal, like i do sometimes? Just curious.....
@ops. I never spoke ill of your work, jic you took it that way, im not that guy. I appreciate any contributions to the community and have spent months of my own time staying up finishing up things ive been working to complete my self in order to ul and share with the community. It's very hard, if not impossible, to implent the Sense apps into AOSP ROMs.

Its not the wrong section im trying to gauge if i should bother developing a custom android rom. And that didn't really answer my question. Is it possible to bring sense and all it required apks and libraries over to CM5, if this is the wrong section could a moderator move me to the right one

Ok i assumed as much, but it could be done with a lot of work right? i think everyone would agree that it would finally make sense usable on the Dream / MT3G. Overclock to 687mhz kernel bit of comcache bit of JIT, dithering, zipaligning and stipping away of some of the crap that is included in sense roms and you're away!

Ok well i wouldnt mind the challenge, i feel kind of useless as iv been a software developer for a few years and im only now learning to build roms lol would any one be interested in giving me a hand to build this?

Like i said im in software development so it should be to bad im also a good bash scripter i just need to get my head around all of the tools that cooks use to build roms.
So ok features what would be wanted in a this new GSense rom (im using that name and my tagline will be "that tingly sensation" ;-) )

Well it will be using the sense apks for the most part, does sense have a custom settings menu?

Since CM 5 series is android 2.1, make an Sense 2.1 ROM. I would recommend using the Droid Eris 2.1 dump since I am running KingKlick's DroidEris2G1 and that thing is the fastest, smoothest Sense 2.1 build that I have run.

Im using bits of the android 2.1 update for the european HTC Hero but if i get good reason i will be using bits of other roms (e.g droid eris which is a hero effectively)

I have always liked sense, but have never liked how 'sluggish' it runs in comparison to other android roms since it comes with some extra baggage i.e. Rosie. But if you can make this happen, I'll be quite excited and will probably try it out..so...all the best!

Does Camera work on KingKlick's DroidEris2G1?

allow me to comment: if you take cm5 and replace the apk's and frameworks, you will run into several problems:
1. it'll be too big for g1, without using mtd mods...
2. you'll essentially end up pushing everything from a sense rom into different folders (bin, lib, etc) in order to even get stuff working
3. it'll basically turn into a sense rom with a cm kernel... which already exists. LOL
4. you'll have to learn smali, which is confusing as you-know-what

my girlfriends htc inspire will not update the market its still on the old green on not even to the black one yet and it looks like some people have sense 3.5? with the ring and hers doesnt can anyone help me out

So, bjballar41, uhh in regard to Sense and to the Market/Play question, is your Girlfriends phone rooted?

If the phone is not rooted, she might want to check for software/firmware updates. Sounds like she is still running froyo, android 2.2.

Uh, ROM version aside, there's a d/l for the play store.apk. Google it. I did that way back, b/c I was still on market 2.5 (I think)

But is the play store an improvement? I recently went back to a nandroid of the ROM I found most stable. I have the old market back and am loving it compared to the more recent veal they have foisted upon the unsuspecting masses. Yes, it may be a good idea to have the apk, but I won't install it unless my market stops working. My 2 cents.

As it is stock ATT never updated the Inspire to anything past 2.3 with the older sense. It didn't even get the Sense 3.0 update HTC pushed out. This is the reason foe not having the lock screen. Unless you root it and flash a custom from it won't happen. The market maybe OS version dependet

I don't know about better. It looks like the 3.x series of Market. I will say that the 2.x Market I had had started having random times where it wouldn't connect.
