I've read all over the forums that newer owners of the TP2 are not able to unlock their phones to enable ROM flashing. I've tried several suggestions but have not been successful. I am getting an error telling me '...we have detected that you appear to have already unlocked another device...' which is not true. I have submitted a ticket several days ago but it appears to be untouched. I've owned several HTC's before and have never had 'license' issue with a unlocker. Is there ANY way around this? Is there any other unlocker in existence? Can anyone verify they've been successful with the unlocker recently and if so, please describe what you have done in the process? I would love to help out the community with ROM testing feedback, etc. but I'm stuck.

Send them another ticket...they will reply...
well whatever. obviously, in my case the only way to get my 'free' license was to pay for it. I paid $6 bucks or whatever it was and I got my 'free' license rigth away
Don't know if this will help but I had a hell of a time unlocking my sprint touch pro 2. Tried just about everything I could find on all the forums - spent 3 months just trying to get the bastard unlocked. I too never had the problem previously.
I did donate and get a RhodiumWUnlocker and it would not work.
I also tried but could not get the SSPL-Manual-RhodiumW__V1_01 to work from the phone, it just locked up.
What I did seems silly, but it worked for me on mine.
I gave up using my main desktop that I have used for years for everything and grabbed a new/different Windows 7 laptop and installed the Hard SPL from there and it worked!!
I was then able to run the MightROM update.
I would try doing the flash/unlock from another machine. Had I not been so obstinate I could have save my self a butt load of aggrevation.
I now have the latest MightROM running with one major bug - got a corrupted 'HTC Sense Home' that I can't seem to get rid of - I tried the "MightyMike & LilRico PIMPstick Purple Full" and it jacked the Home all up. And it will not uninstall either!
Oh well.
But you might try from a different machine that's all I could recommend and I hope that helps.
Same problem I paid three times, submitted 2 tickets & I get no response for 2wks and counting! I sent them my payment info as well

Bought the the device on black friday and almost regreting it have been able to root or rom
heres a pic of the about section maybe someone can point me in the right direction
I originally bought mine on Black Friday but took it back the next day because Office Depot had the 32gb on sale for $20 more. It seems I got lucky because my tablet unlocked.
According to many of the members here, the unlock tool isn't working on many devices yet. Some say it's due to the fact that Asus hasn't added the serial numbers to their data base. Who knows the reason? The fact still remains that many cannot unlock their device. For devices running the Jelly Bean bootloader this means NO recovery and NO root. Hopefully Asus will solve the problem because many are frustrated.
Have you tried to use the unlocker from Asus yet? There is much info on the subject in this forum. I suggest doing some intense reading up on the subject. All of the answers to your questions are probably held within this forum.
Good Luck!

Good idea, Tamaskan. I just downloaded and installed the unlocker apk but it seems things have changed and a lot of people are having problmes getting i to work. It may very well require registering before the unlocker can be used. I would at least give it a try if it weren't working for me. :good:
tried registering ..no luck ..am still getting the error mesage
I had a one x a while back and just got another...submitted my unlock token, but havent received the file back in my email. How long does this take, because it seemed like last time it came instantly.
thanks

lost my token
submitted my token request yesterday, no e-mail since then, although i've made 3-4 requests. A question for u guys: my HOX bootloader was unlocked in the past by another guy (it's now relocked for OTA), the problem is that i don't have that unlock token. I've heard that HTC sends the token only once. Is that true? Does anyone of u received from HTCDEV, let's say, at least 2 times the token? Let's presume if i got my original token lost (erased). Any responses appreciated! Thx.

They resent me a token. Deleted the first one (never thought I'd relock) went and got a second one and stashed it on my USB drive just in case.

I had the same problem and communication from HTC, but when I tried again today, the site had recovered and I'm again getting the message:

Error Reason: MID Not Allowed.
So it seems that the HTC web site maintenance "fooled" us into thinking the process would start working for the One X...

It won't work with an AT&T CID, which is why you're getting that error. You have to change it to SuperCID.

I recently had to send my Infinity to Asus twice for some warranty repair and on the last trip, they replaced the WiFi so now I can't get OTA updates or unlock the tablet. Can anyone tell me is there is someone specifically that I can contact to have this fixed? I tried the Asus-USA rep on this site and sent an email to [email protected] (which was posted on another thread as a possible source of help), but so far I haven't been able to get any help on this situation. I really wanted to unlock and give CROMI a try, but I can't until this gets fixed, if it ever gets fixed. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
Call them directly. Don't take no for an answer. Tell them you know others have had it done. Ask to speak to a manager.

Regular tech support will not get you the results you want. They will just continue to issue an RMA but they can't fix the information stored on the servers and I don't think the service centers can either. The information they enter is correct on their end but for whatever reason it does not update the servers in Taiwan.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2187777 Look through here and read what others have tried. Don't mention your desire to unlock the tablet. Good luck and as sbdags mentioned, don't give up.

I had seen that thread before and I was going to try that, but I can't even access the Asus Device Tracker site. I go to devicetracker.asus.com, sign in and then I see a "Page no found" error and am booted back to the login page. Anyways, I got another email from Tien and after some back and forth, he agreed to create a case for me so that when I call the support line, they'll be able to see that I'm not bull****ting them. Still, it's pretty ridiculous that we have to jump through all these hoops to get basic functionality. What do the non-nerds do? I'll let you all know what progress I make with this and I thank you for all your help so far.

Alright, here's the story. --
I bought this refurbished Transformer tf700t, and eventually got around to rooting it. The only issue I had with that was downgrading the build from 10.6.1.14.10 to 10.6.1.14.8.
Easy peasy, no problem.
Next, obviously to install a custom ROM, I needed to unlock the thing. It gave me a network error, which I found was because I didn't register with Asus. I go to do that, only to find that the serial number is unknown.
I've browsed for about 5 hours now, and I'm almost positive that it's impossible at this point to get the serial to register to unlock, or for that matter, unlock at all.
So this thread is more about 'Am I actually screwed' or is there another way around the network error/register issues?
ahh crap, I posted this to general instead of Troubleshooting.

I got to the Asus support chat, and explained my situation.
He gave me the actual serial number based off the Mac address of my tablet, and thankfully, it worked with the device tracker. sort of.
It came up in the list as my device, yet it can't locate or communicate with it.
So now I'm just trying new things to see what will work.

If you have blocked the OTA files, froze them, or deleted them, it won't let you unlock, FYI. If you restore them, you can unlock if this is your problem.

If this is the case would I get that dammed network error from the unlock tool? I had to downgrade to 10.8, so maybe that messed things up. Is there a way to check and see if I've blocked them, or deleted them?

I have read and followed dozens of this stories and have never read that frozen or removed "OTA files" (????) have anything to do with it - and I seriously doubt it.
The most common reason for the unlock tool not to work is that your serial number or MAC address of the main board are not registered on their server in Taiwan. This happens most often after a RMA return, but sometimes out of the box.
You need to be persistent, keep pestering them that you insist on being able to use their device tracker service.
You could even tell them OTA updates are not working.
The regional help centers seem to loath having to contact HQ in Taiwan to get this fixed. And they are the only ones who can.

Bad News, I am afraid. I too have a refurbished Infinity with the same problems. After 3 weeks of emailing Asus support they finally told me they only allow new units to use their services (unlocking ,OTA's and device tracking). Something that they do not disclose when they are trying to sell it to you. Unless there is a change in policy at Asus we are screwed. If we had bought a secondhand unit we would be looked after better by Asus.

Hi everyone, Just joined the site. I may only be here briefly to ask a question, Im going on a trip and need to take an unlocked phone with me and pic up a Sim when i arrive there. So i happen to have this old Samsung Captivate and wish to unlock it, i search the thread and it now seems to be closed. Rather than pay a guy down the street to unlock it i thought i could try myself. Is there any chance someone can send me the link to the little program to get the unlocker code off my phone? i watched a fella on you tube and got me to this site. seems pretty cool, never heard of a site that might help people before without chucking CC #'s out.
