So after applying a new spl and getting root access, i downloaded a Hero rom.. applied the update and it went through and said installation was finished. I let it sit for a bit and nothing happend, so I just pressed the reboot device.
well, since then, it's been hanging on the Rogers logo. I've tried recovering or resetting, and the furthest I have gotten is "HTC Magic" and it still just sits there for ever.
I didnt make any nandroid backups because I am an idiot, didn't think I needed them yet because I have nothing I cared to save.. so I can't try recover via http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Sapphire_Hacking_2#sec06.
I don't have a data or system file.
Kinda lost as to what to do now.
try to pull out the battery for a time,
go to recovery,
wipe and flash a stable build for yout phone
should help
test in fastboot...
i think rogers is a 32a boart so use only the 32a Roms or they wont boot

I can get to recovery, I can wipe, but I am overwhelmed with all this stuff at the moment, so I don't know what a stable build would be.. like what files i should be trying.. I've downloaded 10 million things but can't remember what they are for
edit: oh my god, i am so stupid. this rom is 32b, and i knew that, and i knew there was 32a version, i found it awhile ago before i got my magic.. and now am just remembering.. frak me, i will try that.

Did you format your SD card? Most of the hero's have some sort of swap and Apps2SD installed and what I found works best was deleting the partitions on the card and resetting 'em up and formatting.

Good find...will it work?
Someone try it?!
Wow sounds scary - flashing radio from another device. Scary.
But we want bluetooth so much, don't we...
I want BT as much as the next...but I wont be the tester lol, I have bricked 1 out of 7 G1's that I have rooted, was my mistake as I was tired from a 14hr shift at work, stayed up late night before and boom, didnt do radio first.
Its almost as if not having BT is worth it if you want Hero on a G1...Kinda lol
Someone needs to try it. It seems like a logical fix.
just to be sure? android dream is 32B right? and 32A is sapphire with more ram

Yeah, 32b is basically a g1 without the keyboard. That's why it makes some sense for this to be a fix. You should try it.

yea but from what i believe that is for the 32a. i was asking if there is a better way i should try specifically for the dream/g1.
i mean i dont even run hero roms honestly , ont find them worth all the hype but i dont give much back to the community so i figured why the hell not lol.
32b=dream and the hack is flashing 32a radio

I just tried this. After flashing the 32a radio and the new recovery, it does not get past the G1 screen.
Had to revert. Maybe someone else will have better luck.
did you reinstalled a hero rom a 32a one?

It wouldn't even let me get to the new recovery to flash a 32a ROM
I followed these steps Eugene posted. Maybe I missed something. Good news, its recoverable at least:
Code:
fastboot flash radio radio.img
fastboot erase system -w
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RAv1.2.0G.img
- press MENU to power off! (do not reboot)
- hold HOME and POWER to boot into recovery mode
- apply update
EDIT: I'm thinking it didn't quite take the radio image even though it said it did. It still thought it was a Dream 32B instead of 32A.
i got a bootloop. im pretty sure i followed the post almost to the T twice i tried. sounded good in theory....
even went to a hero rom (king) prior to instillation just to give it a little more hope.
I flashed the miui rom ...booted...than rebooted in bootloader and flashed a recommended radio version....I didn't notice it was the DESIRE section !!! I have a desire hd. Now the red progress bar is stuck at the end and won't to anything....
What do I do? Is there a way to stop the process or reboot ? The command prompt after the
fastboot flash radio radio.img
sent the radio (OKAY)
and now stuck on writing radio....
help !!!

I'm no expert but perhaps the only way to brick that phone is flashing an incorrect radio. I suggest you seek help from jkoljo.
well i was flashing a desire radio so....that would be incorrect !!!
i am really a mess i can't think...before I make something worse....jkoljo please help !!! lol
oh....wow....relief...i took out the battery and i can access the bootloader without problems...god i really thought it was bricked. it looks nothing happened, i'll just flash the correct desire hd radio now....
any advice on what radio could I use with miui 1.4.22 ?
do not reboot whatsoever! Do not reboot!
its working after reboot, well lucky enough Errm, stick to the radio you have atm.
If you are still in fastboot it that radio should eventually flash. When that is done just flash a correct radio. I've heard someone else who made the same mistake and he even tried to boot but his DHD was still rescued
Well I'll make myself clear.
I had a normal radio, then i flashed miui rom and looked for 'recommended radios' for it. Didn't notice it was the desire page. I started flashing the desire radio, red progress vertical bar on bootloader got stuck....
1 - took out battery
2 - swtiched on the phone with volume down
3 - bootloader loaded...that meant anyway with the recovery i would have been saved. the radio showed is the old desire hd radio...no trace of the faulty desire radio flashed.
4 - i just flashed the latest desire hd radio (already tested by me but with different rom).
5 - now i'll reboot and hope for the best...but as things look right now, everything is normal.
I posted about this in the radio thread, search could have helped you
It seems that Desire HD has a backup radio, which fires up when it detects faulty "main" radio. Lucky for you As you already flashed a proper DHD radio, your device is fine now.

Only been using it one day but so far found no problems, great reception, wi fi fine and battery seems good
Swyped from HTC Desire S using XDA Premium
I want to give this radio a shot, but to my understanding if I want to return to the radio I had previously, I would have to re flash a stock ROM which has my previous radio, then go from there, right?

You can find a link here. I'm having no problems whatsoever with this new ROM, but TBH I don't find any real benefits over the latest official one.
I did have some problems flashing it to my phone though. After flashing my phone went into a infinite bootloop and I had to pull out the battery. Starting in recovery and wiping cache solved it though, but be sure to delete the PG88IMG.zip file first from the SD card as it will try to install it every time you boot.

Bloody hell. Happened to me too. Forgot to clear cache.
Thank you for the feedback, guys!!
I think I'll give it a try too. Just one question, a little offtopic but I think it will be worth enough: is it possible to flash the Radio via Fastboot??
I used to do it this way in Desire Bravo, and I think it is the easiest.
Thanks again!!

I'm not sure if wiping both is necessary, but wiping it you do not break anything. It will just boot a bit longer (of course just once)...

Hi guys.
I have a strange problem.
when I'm trying to flash custom ROMS, mostly cyanogen ROMS,
I do a full wipe and try to flash the ROM, it finishes, but when I reboot my phone it gets stuck on the HTC logo until the battery runs out and then I have to return to a different ROM.
I managed to flash cyanogen 7 but then I tried to update to 10 and again it got stuck on the HTC logo and now I cant return to cyanogen 7 even with my nandroid backup.
what can I do to fix this?
I looked all over the forum but I didn't manage to find any post with a fix for my problem
my HBOOT is 6.98.1002 and RADIO 3831.17.00.310
and I'm S-Off using revolution
and I'm currently using fallout 5.0 which lags alot (thats mainly wht I want to try the cyanogen)
any help would be very appreciated.
thanks

As a suggestion change cwm for 4ext, there have been issues with cwm not formatting the partitions properly and some issues on flashing files. Also take a look at the none Sony panel users hangout lounge, click the link in my sig and you'll find a link on post 2

only than I realised it got stuck on the bootanimation this time..
I waited, and I guess the battery was draind or something becuase my phone was shutdown, but now I cant open it or even get into bootloader.
it just vibrated for 7 times in a row and thats it.
I'm not even sure if it's charging when I plug it in

did you update to the latest "boot.img"
For example in "[Flinny] Andromadus Test builds - CM10.1[16]" is Kernel version 3.0.66.
I did update the kernel
After that used 4Ext v1.0.0.5 RC8 to format the system and seperate system_lib
Installed Flinny and had no problems.
I am using
