Hi, I started getting a message when I try to place calls this morning, it says "Due to error number 16, the call cannot be completed. Please stay on the line to be transferred to customer service" It then says "Switch 702, please call the number provided by your service provider", and then hangs up.
I called Sprint, the rep there said that they can't really do anything about error 16, there's a special number they transfer those to. Then he told me that the phone should transfer me automatically after playing the error message, so he isn't sure what's going on. So now I'm waiting to hear back from them...
In the mean time, I can't make or receive calls, but I do have data. My shift is rooted, and running Cyanogenmod 7.1.
Anyone heard of this?
I had this same thing. It was a combination of a lot of things that finally fixed the issue. Basically calling 611 and telling them the problem. Forcing the most current prl into the phone and then finally getting the right tech person on the line after 3 days of calling. Its not fixed until you have 2 consecutive days of the phone working right.
Once they get something working on their end you can finally dial the number you are told to enter and it will finally work.
sent from my evo shift through tapatalk
I can't even dial 611 from the phone, I get the same message. Or did you mean dial it from another phone? My wife also has an Evo Shift (Unrooted) that isn't experiencing this problem. I'll try from there.
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated....
Thanks
They had me update my PRL, profile and then dial ##087523# to change my MSID. That finally got it working.
I had the same error, and I had it while running CM7.1 The sprint techs told me it has something to do with new security features they are implementing on their end. If you wait long enough after the error message is played, it will connect you automatically, it just takes a minute or two. They ask you all your account information like they would when you call customer service for anything else, then a few more questions like what phone model you have and so on.
I flashed x99's rooted sense gb rom and updated the profile and prl and everything was working fine. Later I nandroided back to CM7 and it immediately put me back on the error. I flashed back to the sense rom, updated again and was still errored so I had to call again and once it got resolved, I just left it with the Sense rom.
I also had this problem since Monday, its annoying because you have no idea your phone is not working, so you have to actually try to send a text message or make a phone call...
When i would send a text message, it would say couldn't send message.
I been calling sprint each time, so far today its been working but I ended up switching it back to stock rom.
Had this issue for the past 48 hours or so. Had to call customer service to resolve it. No PRLs or anything needed to be updated, just had to verify my account info. Apparently the problem has something to do with phones not running official Sprint ROMs.
I ended up telling the CSR that I was running CM7 rooted, and he asked why I didn't just run the official Gingerbread 2.3 for the Shift. I almost mentioned that I was tethering, but caught myself just in time
Had the same issue on my girlfriend's shift (CM 7.0.3.1).. had them fix it automatically then decided to update radios and PRL from a sense rom and moved to CM7 nightly.. problem's back. Fixed it automatically again this morning.. hope it was just the radio changes that did it the second time.. if this happens everytime you flash a new ROM it's gonna be ridiculous.
I had to flash back from MikShift to CM7 today and the problem came back. Maybe this is some new measure to discourage custom roms.
I called again and had the tech run a network refresh on my phone. That fixed it, for about 6 hours.
I finally went back to the stock ROM since I use this phone for my business, and can't have it not working like it was. A crappy ROM is better than no phone
If Sprint is intentionally disabling phones running unofficial ROMs, they suck. Especially since their official ROM is buggy and full of crap I don't need or want.
Having same issue. Only on the Shift not on my Evo or Hero that all are rooted ROMs. I get no help from Sprint and my dialer will not do anything when I input those commands they want us to use.
the problem will be fixed once you update your prl and the other option that is there..
then you have to at least load a few pages on your browser.. turn on 4g and get a gps lock...
then you shouldnt have problems on the next roms.
i was in the middle of playing a game and a box appered something about update, couldent read it all next one said failer of some sort couldent read all that. next thing i know i was gettin unsent text errors then i tried callin someone and got the error 16 message. talked to a rep she said she was resetting my phone. asked me to reboot few times asked me to pull battery, which i couldent since i have a internal one. she said everything looks fine on my end. call back tomorrow if it protists or go to a store. few mins later my screen comes on with message saying updating prl then another message saying updated prl. tried texting it worked fine tried calling it worked fine. was stressin for a bit.

Glad you got it sorted out . Sometimes Updating PRL / Profile will correct ERROR 16, sometimes it will not. In that case you have to do as you did call Sprint. They will Reset your Data. One thing though, you mentioned you have an Internal Battery. As in Non-Removable . You do realize this is the EVO Shift Forums. Not the EVO 4G LTE Forums .
I received my Nexus about an hour ago and it doesn't seem to be able to finish downloading the update. Because it's not actually into the main launcher yet I have no idea what kind of progress it's making (there's no progress bar, no connectivity listing, and no ability to open the browser).
Anyone else having issues?
I'm connected to my work wifi for devices, but I honestly can't remember if it opens a browser window to accept the terms of use on first connect (we just changed to this type of wifi around last year, with independent logins per user and such. Around that time is when I connected all of my various devices, so I can't remember if there was some type of acceptance page. Then again, they could just be blocking one of the ports in use by this updater...I really can't tell what's happening.
BTW it's a 125.8MB update...which should take around 6-7 seconds to download on the work network, if it's working correctly. It's now been 20 minutes (on and off).

I haven't gone home to pickup my new Nexus 5. but my expectation is that the server is getting hammered right now due to everyone getting their new hardware.
I'd expect launch day to go slow.

Possibly...but the download hasn't even started for ~2 hours or so now. Moving slowly is one thing, but it did everything up until the update fairly quickly, and just refuses to start it.
I'll post if I have issues later tonight. I haven't gotten my hands on my device yet.
Mine sat doing nothing when I first tried the update. After a while I pressed the back key, and then forward again to the update. This time it started downloading.

I've tried that a few times to no avail. Thinking I might just have to wait until I get home.
sorry dude, no problems here...just keep trying, my update took less than 5 mins, yours will work too

Must be a port getting blocked at work, then. Boo.
It's weird...the wifi works wonderfully here, but the occasional update just doesn't work. In the Play Store, it'll update 10 apps great and one it won't (at all).
After i got my device it updated perfectly. I was at home.
Hi, I'm having this issue too. It looks like the download doesn't progress. I already tried to reboot the phone and to connect on 2 different wifi networks (home and neighbour).
Still waiting since an hour...

This was the case for me as well. Initially I tried to DL the update on LTE. I cancelled it, went back, signed on to my WiFi and tried again and it flew through the download with no issues at all.
Problem seems to be just solved. I removed the sim card. Still didn't work. And then I restored it. After the reboot the progress bar was completed in 1 sec. It's now rebooting and updating
I'm pretty sure the sim card has nothing to deal with this issue. Obviously google servers issue.
Hey guys, my phone has been working fine until 3 days ago. I am running the latest Eclipse rom. I woke up one morning to send a text and it wouldn't go through, it kept failing, so I restarted my phone to send it, and it worked. Later that day I went to send another message but it didn't work again, so I did the same thing. Now, I can't receive, or send texts (I can't even do calls) without having to turn airplane mode on and off every 5 minutes. I tried factory reset and that didn't work. My brother doesn't have any problem with his iPhone so maybe this is an S3 thing or something.

Are you from either the 570 or 717 area codes? There are a lot of people from those areas(myself included) that are having this issue on AOSP with no current known fix.
no but i have seen those posts... i flashed the slimkat rom and it seems everything is now fixed
edit: hour later, phone is starting to act up again. only way i can send messages is to toggle airplane mode. i have no idea if anyone is trying to reach me... phone status says i'm connected with mobile network, in service. i have no idea what could be causing this.
Hello guys! I have owned the OnePlus for a month now and I am more than happy with it! A couple weeks ago I ordered a second one for a friend but this one is acting up from the moment it was pulled out of the box :crying:
Since I was unable to fix it myself, I am RMAing the device but while I'm waiting for OnePlus support I wanted to post here as well for some feedback (maybe I'm missing something) and in order to update you with the process. So this is my ticket's text, it pretty much says everything in it.
The device reboots itself at random, I was unable to pinpoint the problem.
Completely randomly the device freezes up and automatically reboots after 5 seconds. At times it may work for up to a couple or more hours before it does this, other times it may reboot twice in 10 minutes...
The first time this happened was actually out of the box, before I even completed the setup wizard! At the time I thought it was an Android hickup since I've since random software crashes before. Then I updated to XNPH33R but it happened once more before I unlocked the bootloader and rooted the phone (notice that I am an experienced android user, I even have another OnePlus One that works perfectly fine and had done this before).
It kept on doing this so I googled and found a couple of similar cases online. However mine seems different as it happens completely randomly (wifi on/off, airplane on/off, various battery levels), nothing seems to prevent it. As I was rooted, I have kept some "/proc/last_kmsg" copies from various restarts but I was unable to understand something out of them. I also waited for a reboot with a logcat running in the background so I have a pair of a logcat and a last_kmsg that you might find useful.
To isolate the problem as a hardware fault, I tried the following but nothing helped, it is still acting up exactly the same:
-Factory reset, no luck
-Run a stability test (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.into.stability), no errors
-Installed TWRP (custom recovery) and cloned my other OnePlus on it by means of a nandroid backup, it kept on restarting
-Factory reflashed EVERYTHING through fastboot using the "cm-11.0-XNPH25R-bacon-signed-fastboot.zip" I had downloaded from CM's website in case something was not correctly flashed in the factory, but it reboot on me again.
Finally, I want to notice the fact (and this seems very strange to me) that it usually happens while the device is not stressed at all! Every time it happened I was doing very light and simple stuff, like chatting or moving around launcher icons or checking an application's settings. During the above mentioned stability test, it run for 10-20 minutes with constant load on the CPU and RAM with no problem, I then stopped the test manually, and the phone crashed a couple of minutes later when I was browsing through the app drawer! I also tried a game (Riptide) for a while and it run fine. This means it's not a temperature problem either.
Taking all the above into consideration, I am positive that this is a hardware issue I am unable to fix myself and I would like to request a replacement unit. I must mention I am currently in Greece and I want to know if you can send me the replacement directly to Greece, as it's not a new buy so you shouldn't be facing any law-related problems, to spare me the hassle and cost of sending it to my German address and forwarding it to Greece.
I have attached a ZIP archive of the various "last_kmsg" copies I have kept and a second one containing a "last_kmsg" AND a logcat of the same freeze/reboot, hoping they can help you in troubleshooting the problem. I am available for any other needed information.
Thank you for your support, please do not forget to answer my question about shipping to Greece.
Regards,
Spyros

Since I have zero experience with the linux kernel, is anyone able to get something out of the attached logs?
Thorough...
Thorough, as always...
I've got same problem with my one. But for me it usually happens when my battery is fully charged. Wanted to figure out the reason too, so it would be nice if you'll keep writing about the situation. Good luck!
I will update here with any news but I suggest you open an RMA ticket with OnePlus as most probably this is not going to solve itself and it will take them some time to respond to you anyway.

That's bad
Tech support replied today. Apparently, they did not get the attachments and I was asked to resend them, but it was pretty impressive that I got a reply next day after everything I have read about them being so slow to react.
On a side note, I got a new last_kmsg that shows an "AHB bus error" coming from the graphics driver right before the disaster and noticed on a previous one an error coming from "qup_i2c" so it's probablt a faulty processor... (I'll include the log in the OP, it's #9)
Was anyone able to solve problem with reboot loop?
I am having the same thing only that my log is this:
Code:
38.142516] SMSM: Modem SMSM state changed to SMSM_RESET. [ 38.142819]
Fatal error on the modem. [ 38.142992] modem subsystem failure reason: :Excep :0:Exception detected. [ 38.143159] subsys-restart: subsystem_restart_dev(): Restart sequence requested for modem, restart_level = RELATED. [ 38.143312] Notify: start reset
51.374367] Kernel panic - not syncing: [ed777000]: Timed out waiting for error ready: modem! [ 51.374852] CPU1: stopping
Update: The tech support guy replied the next day saying he escalated my request. However, after all these days (we are close to 2 weeks now) I got no response. I even sent a message asking for a reply on the 7 day mark but was ignored...
Anybody else that has already dealt with their service center? How long did they take to grant you a replacement?

Here comes yet another update. I am quite disappointed by their service. I was forced to open a PayPal dispute for the phone since I got no answer, a nerve-breaking phone and the dispute period was ending. It's been a couple of days now since I did it and still no response
Ok, just an update for future reference.
The problem was resolved December 13, 2014 (they sent out a new device).
I absolutely hated the experience of dealing with their support. That said this is still a great phone and having bought or supplied invites to friends for more than 10 more devices all of which worked flawlessly, I still recommend this as good buy.
Hope their support has gotten better by now that they don't have such a long queue.

Hi guys, I got my G920i from an ebay seller that everyone here has been talking about. The phone was in great condition and everything was fine with the phone for the first 24 hours. Ever since then , my phone has been constantly rebooting after a few hours on it's own. I have not installed any apps that I normally don't have on my other android device , the oneplus one. The G920I is not rooted or anything. The only app I can think of , that is different this time from the OPO , is the samsung push service update. I checked around and could not see anyone else who had recvd the Push service update and was facing the same issue.
Please help!
same
I have the same issue. I also bought the international version off of eBay. I didn't notice anything for about two days, but have now had the phone restart on me three times. All three times I was not actively using the phone and the screen was off.
One thing that I tried was to reinstall the Samsung push service update. That worked for 3 days as I didn't see any more reboots. And just 15 mins ago it happened again while the phone was in my pocket. Hope this gets fixed soon.
It has happened to me twice. I just disabled the auto update feature for my apps to see if that actually works. Will let you know if it worked after a couple of days.
I've had the phone since last tuesday and didnt notice any random reboots until this app updated and now i have 3-5 a day

the samsung push service or whatever it was called that was supposed to fix the battery everyone claimed

Maybe it's the same issue and we can narrow down the problem.

Im only around open networks at work and it does the soft reboots around my house which is secured
My random reboots started shortly after the Samsung Push Services app was updated. I force stopped it, disabled it and uninstalled the update and I haven't had a reboot in a while.
My phone was rebooting several times every day before that.
Edit: The random reboots are back. This is very frustrating.
reflash the firmware fix the problem for me. No reboot since 24 hours. 5 to 6 reboots per day before. Hope it will continue.
I also have the same issue. It has happened 2 times for me, today and yesterday. I had the phone in my hand and suddenly I see the Samsung logo. Within 5 minutes it reboots 2-3 times. This sucks =(
I have the same problem, it only happens to me when I open Play Store or when I update something.
Edit: I have the F model.
I have had my 920i for almost a week, and I haven't had any random reboot at all. Everything works as supposed to.

I bought my 920i from Breed on Ebay. Everything has been great for the most part, but I do experience a random reboot at least once every few days. It just happened to me while sitting on my desk.
I am rooted, but I don't have any crazy customizations and I applied stock recovery after root. Only one app is frozen and it's that Samsung Security Agent process that was draining my battery. I also have it connected to a Gear S, but I'm pretty sure that's not the issue.
I wiped it twice yesterday and then set it up. It's definitely not a ROM/cache issue. I'll be interested to see if anyone figures out what this is. It could just be a bug that we'll have to deal with until the next update. Fortunately, the phone restarts super fast.
I also believe this is a software issue. I am not rooted and don't see myself doing that any time soon.
Which network are you using on your 920i? I am on AT&T network

AT&T here, also.
I'm using the G920F with an european carrier, so I think that is a global problem.
It happened to me twice today. That's a first. The only thing that's different is that I have a Gear S connected full time.
Didn't Android 5.01 cause the phone to reboot after some time due to running out of available memory?
