[APP] Slide Sreen Home replacement - Hero CDMA Themes and Apps

Guys check this out, I think is awesome
http://slidescreenhome.com/

I use this now, actually. I love having everything on my homescreen -- and it looks nice
Sometimes lags though, but nothing unbearable.
Not that many FC's either.

The only problem I am seeing is, is not showing my Exchange emails only gmail's any way to do it?

I'm with you...reminds me of cleaner looking winmo 6.5 (which I never liked, always used the sense ui with my htc touch).

I used Slide Screen for about a week, but I missed having quick access to widgets. One plus is that you can switch back and forth from this to sense with the home key (if don't choose a default for the home key).
Ultimately I have switched back to Slide Screen-less for good.

Its nice but not for me either. I like to have multiple widgets and apps on multiple screens.
Did anyone besides me ever try sweeter home.

Use Flyscreen for trackball to activate screen when locked

Alright guys, I usually never post new threads, but I am pretty excited by what this app can do.
This app was recommended by jerrycycle and when I went to use it, I can now wake my phone up by clicking the trackball button. I am still testing this to see what the pros and cons are about it and I will report back.
You can find the app on the market and on their official site here:http://www.myflyscreen.com/
Been using this app since the first day i got my N1(actually since i had my G1 and MT3g),and never notice that, unless it came in the last update, anyway great app, used everyday and love it.Pros to the dev

Nope, been available since day 1 I believe.
I notice Flyscreen got few issue on Nexus One:
- Themes not working
- All themes post at Market seems deleted already.
- Can simply unlock the screen by pressing the "Home" button.
Due to last issue, I need to remove this gorgeous Apps.

Everything else you listed is also true about the app.

Bleh, I've been looking for ANY decent way to get my agenda on the lock screen (I too was spoiled by S2U2 in this regard) and Flyscreen looks okay but you're right, Home button does go to the homescreen.
it's not a HUGE deal but seems they'd fix that.. I don't use my lock screen as a security method, although eventually I should.
My annoyance with Flyscreen is that widgets which should fit into it don't, seems a normal 4x3 Widget size won't fit, 4x2 is okay... Using Pure Calendar Widget to see my agenda. I'd prefer the phone not have TWO of these running, however...
Looked at Executive Assistant and it seemed a bit too much, plus the calendar didn't show locations, which is a big fail for me. I have meetings in random conference rooms and I gotta know where to go.

Works on Liquid 2.1, thanks man .
Could you post some other Ally stuff, like the weather widget, just to try.
EDIT: The widget is really cool, people should try this.
EDIT 2: There's one thing not working: Settings of the app. I don't think it's a bug, there's probably another Ally apk which contains the Socialite app settings.
Deleted by me.
Any thing else we can get from it...

nevermind .mak is working on a workable version for HVGA devices
To those who have tried this app on an appropriate sized device (480x800, 480x854, etc), does the facebook tab work as it should? Does it update with your facebook profile picture at the top of the widget, and when you click said picture, does the "Update your profile" box pop up?
This information will be VERY helpful to me, thank you!

The widget doesnt like landscape on my droid.

Can someone post a few screenies of some of the cool widgets that work on other devices? That messaging app looked kinda cool.
Mh, I keep getting "unable to connect to the SNG server" when trying to login
I basically use this app only for the amazing widget that it comes with. It's great. The app itself force closes on my droid like crazy, so I don't use that.
are you able to pull that awesome weather widget?
thanks
Can't someone talented extract DivX support from this? ... and port it to the Nexus One?

Depending on what you want it for or how you use it; Socialite or SyncMyPic work best to mimic what could be done in sense with HTC Facebook.
Good post. I've been hunting to find a good gallery program to replace the 3d gallery. I tried just removing the 3d gallery apk from system/apps but then I cannot set a wallpaper (I wouldn't care of even having a "gallery" program but it seems like i cannot set wallpapers without it... i'm fine just using estrongs file manager to browser pics).

I originally posted this in the wrong thread, but flickie doesn't seem to do it. First off, its primary focus seems to be finding new wallpapers (and not to browse images already on the sd card).. secondly, it uses the same 3d gallery thing as the 3d gallery thats included in cyanogen. Am I missing something?
EDIT: Ok.. I think i'm just on crack... everything is working as I want it to now... who knows. I usually screw up more than I care to admit
I do think the 3d gallery is neat, but I like simple usually. Its suddenly allowing me to just use a file manager to browse my photos and set as wallpaper... wasn't allowing me earlier.
On a side note, I think i'm gonna keep that flickie program installed. I do like being able to find some other neat wallpapers by category. So thanks for the recommendation

One cosmetic question i can't figure out being used to Sense - is there any way for the icon to display the number of unread texts or emails instead of it just showing up in the notification bar?
god i wish there was a way for someone to pull and post the htc mail apk its so much better.

Try launcherpro. Shows these notification numbers in the taskbar.
for those of you wanting a home clock with weather replacement like sense's, beatiful widgets home looks very much the same, only you can skin it however you would like. there are dozens and dozens of available skins.
Or get chomp sms for your texts. I think it's much better then stock messaging anyway.

There was an issue with facebook sync on the hero build as well. Someone posted a fix there. I was going to try it out later.
handcent now has a small widget that looks like a small app that will show a number with how many texts you have unread
Anyone know of a way to get facebook calendar events into a calendar on CM6; a la HTC Facebook for Sense? I tried some Facebook Birthdays events or something that worked for about 20 minutes then corrupted everyone on reboot.

Friendstream replacement for AOSP ROMs?

This is the only thing that I've been missing since moving from a Sense ROM/launcher.
Does a nice scrollable widget exist that's similar to the stock Friendstream one?
EDIT: I've tried out Socialite, but it seems to never sync properly and eventually force closes on the CyanogenMod nightly builds.
I miss it too.

EDIT: I was just too tired to realize what I was doing incorrectly. Trying to get a widget setup that looks decent.
All of the different variants of the Sense style widgets look really "off" for some reason. Looking further, it's definitely the pictures, as they trail a bit off the left side of the widget. (See pic)
I'm also not fond of the left/right arrows on the widget. I only set up FB, so I don't need non-working buttons.
Pure Messenger will make you forget Friend Stream every existed.

Use the scrollable version with ADW/LauncherPro. It is better than FriendStream.
Like so:
Nice setup TheBiles.
PureMessenger > friendstream with the ability to use skins, add email and sms along with twitter and FB to stream, ability to select preferred clients for clicked feed, and oodles of config settings in a nice scrollable UI with ADW or launcherPRO. Well worth a buck-fifty.
I wouldn't consider Pure messenger better than Friendstream myself.
It's nice... but sadly needs a few fixes in my opinion
1) Won't display 'mobile upload' picture notifications properly. It only shows 1 picture in the internal viewer with no way to go directly to the person's photo list.
2) Pictures display as filenames in the list view, rather than the actual thumbnail as sense does. (This might be considered user preference, but I'd prefer to see a picture rather than <randomwords>.jpg )
3) No support for built in HTC applications for Facebook nor Twitter (aka peep). While the internal viewer can be dismissed in favor of a real 'app', the selection is limited to bout 3-6 apps none of which are the built in parts of HTC's rom. (Of course if you're not using HTC roms then this isn't problem
Overall it's a great app, and the best out there I've seen, don't get me wrong.. but Friendstream still has the edge in actual functionality for basic use. Sure, No themes, lack of customization hurt, but when it comes down to using the product for what it's intended for (Keeping up with posts/photos from your friends) it has a few issues IMO.

Overall it seems "ok" but lacking in some ways as well. You can't post directly from the widget, which is a huge strike against it. I want the widget so I don't have to clutter my homescreens with redundant apps.
Guess I accidentally went past my 24 hours so I am the proud owner, or some such thing.

I'm using the scrollable widget currently, and like I said, it's neat to watch updates, but it's a killer that I don't see an obvious way to post anything to FB/Twitter through the widget, instead I'm forced to use the app.
It just feels "clunky" for lack of a better term.
I will say that the widgets can be set up to look better, it just seems that some of the skins are definitely not ones any OCD person would want to use.

Erm. You just click that little star, and select "update status." You never have to open the official apps. You can also click that little arrow and select "open Facebook" so you don't ever need an icon on the screen in the first place.

That's Extended Controls. The second icon is the Froyo hotspot toggle, but it does have a 4G toggle option. I just don't have it on there because 4G doesn't work with CyanogenMod at the moment.

Well crap, it looks as though I'd always been fat-fingering the arrow and only saw the "open Facebook" link in there.
I recant my previous statements and accept that this is a damn fine alternative to Friendstream. (after a little getting used to)
The only issue that I have with Pure Messenger is this: When a FB contact posts something on someones' wall it doesn't show who the other person is, even if the other person is one of your contacts it doesn't show.
Got socialite running on newest cyanogen nightly. Its pretty nice really, I actually like it better than friend stream.

Aviate - Tips and Tricks...

I wanted to start a thread to share info about the new launcher Aviate. There's no shortage of threads on requesting invites, so let's not do that here.
If you have Aviate and are actively using it, come here and share.
Thanks!

**Please do not use this thread for requesting invites!**
I've been using it for a day now and I find it curiously intriguing. It's a totally fresh user experience that feels a little like Google Now to me.
Frankly, I never thought ANY launcher could pull my attention away from my custom-crafted (ok, OCD-crafted) user experience I designed using Nova Launcher. I have the same design on all of my mobile devices and it feels like part of my DNA.
Can't say yet if Aviate will be a permanent replacement for my Nova-based home, but I seem to be staying with it.
Just saw the video presentation. I'm looking foward to have a little more feedback about this app.
I liked the fact that it categarises apps and I disliked (as in google now) the fact that you must have your gps on in order to take full advantage of it. Makes a lot of sense and it's very useful but I don't like the idea of sharing my whereabouts all the time...
Been playing with it since yesterday as well on my HTC One.
Like it so far, like the idea of the activities changing during the day. Not sure how it's controled though. Today ie, I set it to Work, and when checking my phone later on, it was set on Home... don't know why.
Of course the custom side of it is quite limited, I assumed it will be better with later versions.
Haven't figured out yet how to get shortcuts to contact phone numbers implemented in Aviate.
Any ideas?
Don't have "morning" and "night time" screens. Only "home" whole day. Any solution ?
To change between Fahrenheit and Celsius, long press on the weather notification and tap the toggle to change.

The only method I have found is to add a contact widget. Not perfect, but close.
I also haven't figured out how to save a bookmark icon to my favorites section on the home screen.
Another thing I would like to do is switch between the light and dark theme automatically based on time of day.

Thanks for the response. This is a deal-breaker for me, as I need easy access (direct-dial shortcuts) to my frequently-called contacts. I wrote to the Aviate team. I'll report back.

I was able to get an invite for aviate and loaded it up and started setting it up, when I started to wonder if this was the launcher for me. I loved the idea of chameleon launcher back when it came out, how it changed your home screen based on time of day. This seems similar in many ways. But then it dawned on me, I generally do a lot of the same things on my phone no matter where I am. That being the case, would someone like me benefit from this type of launcher?
I have uninstalled and moved on.
Not being able to do direct dial shortcuts the way I want is a deal-breaker for me.
Plus, I found that I really don't need access to different apps at different times of the day. I like always knowing where they are - all the time.
More power to those that find they like Aviate. For me, it was a swing-and-a-miss.
Hi. Just found this thread. I'm loving Aviate so far and, I'm sure the customisation will improve in future releases.
I would like more customisation of the 'spaces' (manual addition/removal etc) and better theming support. Overall, I like it a lot and in sticking with it, at least, for now!
