I made a theme with a plain black bar and the icon's from the Desire Rom, modified to play nice with the black. I dont know how to make update.zips, and im too lazy to learn right now.

What you need:
-root
-basic knowledge on using adb.
How to install (for now):
- nandroid!
-rename framework-res.zip to .apk and push to /system/framework
-rename services.zip to .jar and push to /system/framework
-reboot (device may reboot by itself, this is okay, as long as it turns on)

To do:
-make metamorph
-make update.zip
-make some icons smoother ( a few of the look a little rough)
I like this. I'll give it a try once i can get my 5.0.4 stabalized. Thanks.
is this working with 360 degree rotation?
Hmmm...I'm getting "remote object 'framework-res.apk' does not exist" when I try adb pull.
I can see framework-res in my system/framework directory, but I keep getting the same message. I've tried:
adb pull framework-res.apk /system/framework
adb pull framework-res /system/framework
I've also tried remounting. Maybe I"m doing it wrong. I'm new to android...can someone help?
nm...figured it out...
adb pull /system/framework/framework-res.apk framework-res.apk
It works fine, except my font color is still black. So it's black on black and I can't see anything. How can I change the font to white?
wow, forgot about that, il have an update sometime tomorrow..

yeah you have to tell it what its local name is
Please update this with the white font! This is now my favorite black-bar theme. The icons are so clean, the black is so clean, and even the notifications are nice and clean and I love the black semi-transparent notification background.
The only things which I would suggest adding are:
1) a thin white/grey line under the notification bar when it's pulled down (maybe, gotta see it first)
2) the little dot-graphics that are found on default bottom pulldown bar. Have the same dots, except inverse colors I guess.
I've attached a pic of the areas i'm talking about.
Thanks so much.
Thanks for the stealth update. I love the new bottom bar. Also putting the two little "accents" on the left and right sides of the bar would be a great enhancement too (see original screenshot). I think I like the previous background more, but I haven't tried this one yet. But the beauty of a theme like this is that I can swap and replace the images as I like. However I still can't use them anyways because I can't get white font (see below).
I think you meant services.jar should be pushed to /system/framework because there's not /services folder at the root of the phone.
The services.jar push clashes with CM 5.0.4. Upon reboot, the notification bar doesn't load up. Once I swipe to unlock, I get error after error for "Use action for default" message, and a jumbled message to touch. I touch and touch but the error keeps popping up. I can't recall exactly what the message said, but can replicate it if you need it.
Pressing the power button causes the phone to jump back to the splash screen (not a real reboot), and then it will reload the same way. I restored by flashing my rom again.
I still love this them though, and can't wait for an update I can use with CM. Thanks for your work on this, di.
could i get that wallpaper?
here is a functional service.jar (for white text)
rename from zip to jar and push to /system/framework
Hey Bud. If this is a direct copy of the Desire notification bar and notification icons, then I salute you.

Thanks for this Ac!d. We're almost there...the fonts on the notification bar itself are now white. The actual notifications when the bar is pulled down need to be white too. Also, the notifications when they come in are still black as well (like when I get a SMS and the first line of text appears on the bar). It might be the same setting as the pulldown font, but I'm not sure.
And plus the service font (ATT, Tmobile, etc) should either be white or maybe a really light grey, since the default was dark grey on top of white.
Thanks for your help!

What you need:

How to install (for now):
- nandroid!
- Pull "framework-res.apk". its usually in /system/framework, though, again, that depends on the Rom you're using.
- rename to "framework-res.zip"
- open the zip, open the folder "res", and open "drawable-hdpi". update the folder with the files in the "drawable-hdpi" which is in the download.
- rename back to "framework-res.apk"
- while the device is on, push "framework-res.apk" to wherever you pulled it from. after a few seconds, the device should reboot (it shouldn't take long).
-pushing the services.jar to /services/framework should change the text to white, but i have only been tested it with enomthers rom. nandroid, turn on your phone, push, and reboot. first boot could take a while. testers needed.
btw, the icons look much better on the N1's small screen.
Because you're replacing the files in the framework-res.apk that comes from your device, this should work with any rom.
However, nandroid before you try this anyway.

nah, the point of my theme is for the bar to be black and at the same time keep the desire icons. If it wasn't i wouldn't spend hours putting a black backround behind every icon..

These are all MetaMorph files! Do not try to flash them as an update.zip! You have been warned!
By downloading any of the below links you agree that I am not responsible for anything that happens to your phone.
Misc Stuff:
You can use any combination of the 4 lockscreen Morphs, so you can do a slide lockscreen with no text and a clear background, or a rotary lockscreen with text and a custom background. Mix and match till you're happy
The reboot after any of these Morphs (with the exception of the two background Morphs) will take a very long time, since they all edit a framework file and have to re-write the dalvik-cache.
If you encounter any problems (random reboots, FCs, etc.), try rebooting, then wiping dalvik-cache, then fixing apk UID mismatches.

Same result here... I'm going to try to push a different framework-res to see if it corrects it.
EDIT: That seems to have fixed it. Push the framework-res from Sushi or Ic3Rom. I've attached the Ic3ROM file. This looks the best IMO.
Code:
adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework
adb reboot
This + cyanogen launcher.apk = win

I structured the folder framework in the framework-res theme wrong, it is fixed now.
Before you try it though, adb pull your current framework-res.apk, open it up and delete the drawable-mdpi and layout folders that are in the root directory of the app (NOT THE ONES THAT ARE IN THE /res FOLDER)
New version also contains JsChiSurfs black carrier text and white clear button!
Just updated again, the AOSP taskbar had one wrong icon with 1x dormant... it is fixed now.
Tried the rotary lock screen and vanilla lock screen and neither worked. download > applied through metamorph > reboot > delete htclockscreen.apk in system\app
Am I doing anything wrong?

Just pulled my framework-res.apk file and there isn't a drawable-mdpi or layout folder in the root, so I assume the fix I did earlier (Using the Ic3ROM framework-res.apk as illogic6 suggested) cleared this up? Am I safe to try it out?
(I am anyway as soon as I nandroid, but.... you know...)
EDIT: Nope, didn't work.
Sense crashed before it was applying the framework-res.apk, something else crashed a little later, then when it got to the framework-res.apk, the phone locked. I gave it about three minutes before I decided it was time to pull the battery. What files do I actually need to apply to get the updated notification window? mms.apk and phone.apk kind of seem useless at this point?
EDIT 2: Got it working. I just used the com.htc.resources.apk and the framework-res.apk instead of the whole update and got it going great. It still froze, but I sort of didn't care... I pulled the battery and just let it boot and it worked fine. I honestly think that it's a problem with my installation of Metamorph.....

This morph is more susceptible to failure just because if how big framework res and com.HTC.resources are. If metamorph runs out of space to use then it wont apply the theme. So ya, if it doesn't apply the theme try rebooting and reapplying... that USUALLY helps...

This is just a quick mod I had made for myself. But a few people had expressed some interest in it, so here it is. All thanks and credit go to jschisurf for creating the Rosie mod to begin with. This is simply my version of that mod with a black AOSP-like taskbar(I say that its almost because the location icon is different because I hate that target lookin thing). This isnt a theme really, so all the menus and colors are stock and green. I did, however, add the font and animations from the Darkstar theme just cause I like them better. Anyways, if you want it, here it is and enjoy.

I tried to flash this over IC3rom 2.2, and it worked except for the time and date. They font color is still black, which is now against a black taskbar so it's unreadable. Originally it used a white taskbar with black font, so is that my problem? Do I need to use a different rom for this?

I'll be the first one to tell you Im no coding expert. But I do know the way the slashes face are important. All you should do is this:
adb remount
adb push Rosie.apk system/app
That being said, I dont know what ROM and/or theme youre currently using but if you just push Rosie all its gonna do is give you the three buttons overlayed on your current set-up so I dont know how its gonna look. The black buttons aren't in Rosie.apk theyre in htc-resources.apk so if you want/need them then you'll just have to flash the whole zip. Or if you got some crazy **** goin on PM me.

If you notice, its just the satelite when gps is just turned off, and then the signal bars appear when you turn it on. The only way to fix it would be to change the location icon.

Is there any chance of getting a white Notification with NO clock?
After deodexing with xUltimate all is good. I now have a white clock and transparent pull down.
I just realized that the notification ticker text is still black.
Thank you, works great!
Just one thing. When I pull notification area down, there is a slightly transparent area going in front of it. And then it gets covered by the status bar going down.

This bricked me.
I had the black clock like everyone else after having to pull my battery on second reboot I got sliders but nothing else. Now I'm in a boot loop & on a mission to find the X SBF file so I can unbrick.

If you're in a bootloop, thank just go into recovery, and do a nanadroid.
Anyone with a black clock, dowload the latest release. I replaced it with my services, jar. So hopefully everything works out.
i pushed the service and framework more than once and i still have a black clock and the pull down isnt transparent. i have bad luck

Are you deodexed. That's probably the issue.
Can these files just be replaced using root explorer? I hate to go through all the trouble of using terminal...I'm lazy.

I wouldn't use root explorer doing this stuff. Just don't trust it enough. ADB all the way for this stuff! Never bricked my phone once yet (knock on wood)

Unless you wanna sbf I would use adb.
Yep, you'll go in a bootloop if you use root explorer. I was lazy too and learned it the hard way

Can anyone help direct me how to theme this. when on the homescreen, and press the menu button you have a list of options that popup including: all apps, scenes, add to home, wallapaper, notifications, settings
I would like to make it black background and the pictures and text white, so basically revert it. any help as to were these icons can be found and how to change to text color. please and thank you for any help!
That would be Rosie. Are familiar with rosie?

ok thats what I thought, I did find a few of the icons, I think 4 outta the 6 but I amd still not sure how to make the background black instead of white and change the text to white from black, thanks for the reply!
Changing the background is most likely gonna be a 9.png image and changing the color of the txt is probably gonna be buried away in XML file.

It's not rosie. The pngs for the background are in framework-res and the text color is in com.htc.resources. the icons are in both and in the apps themselves.

The images are in framework-res.apk in the drawable-hdpi folder. They are menu_background.9.png and menu_background_fill_parent_width.9.png. I too am trying to figure out how to get the white text instead of black, so I can change the background. Once I figure it out, I have the images I want to use.

black menu for AOSP roms
I'm stlill looking for a way to get my menus black on cm 6.1 stable. I don't want a full theme b/c I want to use my own transition animations and other custom feats. I like the stock black theme that comes with cm 6.1 but want black menus! Can anyone point me in the right direction???
I have a metamorph theme that will give you want you want. However you will need to then pull the framework-res.apk because I have noticed the metamorph may cause issues with force closes. But once you have the framework-res.apk jut make it into an update.zip and when they flash it they shouldn't have any problems.
black menu cm 6.1
Really? That's awesome! Where can I find your metamorph theme? I just tried to pull the menu back ground out of cm7 framework-res and placed them in the cm6.1 framework-res.apk and zipped and installed, it kinda worked just no text in the menus!

The text is in values.xml once you de compile the frame work if you want I help make a gingerbread theme for cm6 this is what my menu looks like. If you want it just look for ninjabread in the theme section
The op of the topic broke his pc so I took it over. So the newer one is close to the last post and not the op.

Thanks for the help but I'm only looking to mod the menu to look like they do in cm 7. I've tried ninjabread but when I go to metamorph my transition animations it sends me into a bootloop then off to restore back up. Is there a theme zip for menu only? What part of the framework is value.XML located?

Values is a folder that will show up once you decompile the apk. It is actually present in almost all apk's res folder.

If you like the look of ninjabread and want you mm to work send me the files and I can make an update.zip custom for you. Or send me a pic of how the menu looks and I will try to do it for you.

wish I could help you, I only got as far as the OP thanks to the theme I took all the hacks from. running an evo rom such as myns, already has a GB theme, it's very time consuming to do this when you know what you're doing, and near impossible when you don't
I really like the SE Style maybe im the only one but i like the blue. But i really like the 2.2 from z too and its stable and fun too play with but now my Question. I modded some Themes like GreenGlow with different Icons like Wifi icon and this i extracted from MIUI Rom but i dont know is it possibile to copy drawable-hdpi from SE 2,1 in 2.2 Framework and have the blue theme on 2.2 or what do i need to do. Please help me i really want it. If someone can help me and there are some People who maybe like the blue too i will release it here.
You need to go through the frameworks and mod, rename the images ect, just copy and pasting wont work. Read the theme reference thread too.
Bluuuuuuuuuuuuuueeee
Well you are not alone,
Im in to blue color too., you can copy some images from 2.1 version but make sure you have correct pixel size of the image not only image name, otherwise you will have wired output or you want be able to boot the phone.
I have moded my own version of blue for 2.2 beta3 of Z. most resources I get from all arround the the wold and some samsung forums, but main contribution from X10 forum is from SEMPITERNAL & XperiaX10iUser themes, fonts.
And I didn't see blue color progress bar anyplace so far, so I crated for my taste, im fine with stock battery percentage so I made my own set for battery and lock screen. but modded some items in service jar to suite black base. And some other mods here n there I cant remember exactly.
Here are some previews.

Notification bar is related to 3 Items.
1. framework-res.apk
apart from the images, you need to edit status_bar_expanded.xml & status_bar_icon.xml. Notification clear button related to this. Color of the progress bar is editable in progress_horizontal.xml
2. services.jar
Need to decompile classes.dex and edit
3. DownloadProvider.apk
When you download or upload, this is the place its related items. need to edit status_bar_ongoing_event_progress_bar.xml
Note: This is based on 2.2.1 beta3 of Z. I think other roms also have the same structure. but 2.3 will have new item called settingsUI.apk to play with.

I want the T-Mobile A in white not in grey and the Clock in white not in black but this is not possible for now i know but how can i get the T-Mobile A in white? This is 2.2 from z and not 2.1 Stock SE just to be clear. Also i dont like the Froyo Dialer much and i hate the Callscreen it looks ugly and i always put others on hold. Someone know how to change this?
Edit2: Found another one, the USB Debugging and USB Connected Text is Black in Status Bar when i plug in the Text comes black but i just want it black in Pulldown like in Screen and not in Status bar.

What ever you do, dont copy xml files from 2.1 to the beta 2.2. you will end not been able to boot the phone.
You need to mod phone.apk for the call interface. I will post my framework tomorrow, I need to do the finishing touch.
