Guys and gals, I see this is by far the most frequently read thread. This is why I ask you here to click http://www.petitiononline.com/xdadevs/petition.html and sign the petition.
Here follows the original article:
XDA-Developers (the most active Pocket PC Phone Edition forum) forum member hanmin has just made available a way to skin your Pocket PC to, Today screen-wise, look exactly like an Apple iPhone.
You may also want to read the subsequent posts in the thread (starting with the 8th page; I especially recommend this).

wonderful-but just how does one install and activate these files? i've downloaded them, extracted them but haven't a clue how to continue and make them work on my PPC6700.
Way cool idea, though!

iPhone skins
This is probably a very dumb question, but how do you install claunch skins after you unzip them? After unzipping iPhone for example, there are 12 bitmap icons; iPhoneAlarm has a folder with some more bitmap icons, and a .skn file?! How does one proceed from there? I tried to drag these files to my pocketpc (under ActiveSync) but that did not worK?!
Also in a similar context, can I install theme files (.tsk) in the MY DOCUMENTS folder in the SD card? and not in RAM? I just did this, but when I look at my x50v under Settings>Today I only see what came with the axim (Dell Default, Guava Bubbles and Windows Default)! I cannot see my other .tsk files that are in My Documents BUT in the SD card! Did I do something wrong? Isn't it better to have the .tsk files not in RAM to save space? and is there anything that would automatically rotate through the .tsk files, like a screensaver?
Thanks for any advice/suggestions,
CP

Delete (I think this is right) the init.ink from StartUp in the Windows folder.
I also have the problem with the PhoneAlarm background.
Am I the only one that is able to get the phoneAlarm work with the carbon fiber background?!
This guy is having the same problem, but he solved it in a .. weird way. Others are having problems too. Let me know if you've found a solution.

iPhone without the Phone Alarm Plugin
I made my iPhone screen without the Phone Alarm plugin, since it looked to be a duplication of icons already on the screen.
However, I did change one thing -- instead of 32x32 icons, I resized them to 48x48 in order to take up more of the screen's real estate.
Then, to complete the skinning, I added Wisbar's Windows Vista Portable Edition Skin from the Lakeridge forums.
This is what I ended up with:

Two questions:
1) i've installed cLaunch, icons and iphone.skn
All runs ok except iphone.skn that even if i select it through cLaunch it isn't shown in the background skin, why ?
I've to change the extension or what ?
2) the 4 icons on the bottom side are only pics without shortcuts to the programs, isn't it ? othrwise how to make them runnable ?
Thanks
I'm trying to find a TSK previewer for on the PPC (not on the PC). Although I've renamed my themes, they're all of ladies in (mostly) bikinis, so there's a limit to the descriptions I can use! Does anyone know of a program that will run on the PPC and show me a thumbnail of the theme so I can choose without having to load each one in turn?
I've been searching for ages for this without luck, but I know someone's going to point me to an existing thread - so I'm going to apologise now if it does exist and I've missed it!
Thanks.
Download ThemeGenCe and then open them up in there and you'll be able to see what they look like on your PC. You can also then edit them if you want with it also, or even make your own.
Not quite what I'm after
Thanks for the suggestion, Xeno1, but I've already got an application to preview the themes on my PC - I'm after one to preview them on my phone when I'm out and about.
Thanks again for the reply though.
This is an old post I know but wasn't answered and I was looking for something similiar myself. Here is my suggestion
BVRP Theme Manager v2
It runs on your PPC and it creates previews of your themes and caches them in the form of JPGs with the extension PTM. Its great for previewing them and allows you to display them in multiple views:
- List
- 2x2 grid
- 4x4 grid
- 8x8 grid
- 16x16 grid
- Full screen
The only problem is its a little slow and awkward to create the previews if you have a lot of new TSKs. You have to view it for it to create the preview, so in the 8x8 grid it will only create previews for the 64 themes in view. If you have additional themes you have to move the cursor.
Pocket Theme Manager also has a theme rotation feature but it keeps the whole program in the memory for this (about 1MB RAM--way too much). Also it doesn't handle going back n forth between QVGA and VGA themes. You are much better off using ShantzTodayChanger (which you can find in General > Developer forum here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311173
Hey everyone!
First off I want to thank Dr. Gonzo again for the 6.1 rom. It's great and love it!
Second, I was using the HTC home screens that user tho made (found here) and I really got used to having the weather plugin on the homescreen. I really like how the homescreen is setup on this new rom, but I still want a weather plugin for it. Is there any way to add that plugin to this homescreen?
thanks.
if i was you i would try the following:
install the home plugin on your device. copy the .xml file from the plugin to your harddrive. open it and find the coresponding <plugin...> entry for the plugin. Then copy this entry to the xml-file of your skin of choice and there it should appear again... if it does not work or you have no clue what i was talking about, give me report.. i will try to do it for you,
Yea that's what I was thinking about doing. I just did not know if it would work or if it would look alright. I'm at work now so I don't really want to mess with it, but I'm going to try that when I get home.
ok. let us know if it worked when you're done
Wow this is a lot more difficult than I had thought. I can't find the weather plugin in the HTC Home screen and as the other thread may have tipped you off, the Sliding Panel home screen is very confusing to work with.
Basically what I would like to accomplish is to have Weather on my homescreen, while still using the Sliding Panel motif. So like if I could click over to the right next to where it displays the time it would show the weather. I'm going to keep working on this, but if anyone would like to jump in and help me I'd appreciate it.
Thanks.
according to the slide panel. I think all you can do is to manipulate the panels with basic configurations read out from the registry. It is not that easy to create something new, but i think a good point to start is always the manipulation of the welcome center, because this one is what most people need when they like to make "their own panels". The only way something will create a new slide is to code a plugin which is dedicated to appear in the slides. and still someone has to figure out what basic options are needed to create a new panel or to figure out what these guids are respectively.
Can you provide the htc home xml at least? it would be nice to have all extracted files in a zip file, so i do not have to install it again and pic all files out by myself.
Well that's sortof bad news that I can't create something new, however it might still be possible to edit the home panel to add that in?
I attached the xml for one of the home screens. I looked through it all and couldn't find the plugin for the weather but maybe you will have better luck than I will.
well, that is exactly what i meant. First choice, change one of the existing panels. If it works then and someone can explain those damn GUIDs I think we would manage to get it work on an own panel.
As far as it is "documented" in the XML (which is quite interesting i think for non wm6.1) this is the plugin-option for the htc home:
<plugin clsid="{B0C8AC4B-CDDC-4010-AAEB-076A2A6EB171}" name="HTCHome" height="88"></plugin>
This means to me, that cannot extract the weather-plugin for the homescreen unless you know how the home-plugin was made and the weather-plugin is a standalone, built-into htc home.
if you install the htc home, and edit your slidingpanel.xml with this tag somewhere, the home plugin should appear. I added the .xml for Frau Hottelmanns panther scheme with the htc home plugintag so you can see what i mean (not sure if the comment-tag is allowed, so just remove it before uploading to your device).
This is all I can do for you right at the moment.
Alright, Thanks a lot. I will try it when I get home.
I am really sorry that i wrote some damn ******* before It surely is possible to create new slides!!! It is just not possible to create a slide with ANY functionality
i just had the idea, that we may figure out what the minimal options for a slide are and then go on to figure out what the others are. But if we know the minimal options we could for example copy the testuiplugin-panel and try to get it work with the entire htc home plugin in it.
just wanted to write that, so you would not be that hopeless
Ok, what i found so far is:
- The htc home plugin works on wm6.1 as usual
- It seems not to work with the bronze-plugin in the same theme
* when loading the theme, the htc home plugin is displayed but vanishes as fast as the bronze-plugin is loaded.
* i played around with the height-attribute from the bronze-plugin but it seems to have absolutely no effect
- what i discovered in one of the previous skins is, that there are at least two major plugins for the htc home plugin which can be loaded in a theme. there is the notificationbar where the calls and sms etc. are shown and there is the htchome where the weather is displayed and so on.
- I also found that the exe-file for the weather-plugin is located at /windows/weather.exe so maybe its possible to configure the "output" on a call of this file and the weatherplugin is displayed (which means that we could put it into a slide)
- I also found an old thread here on xda for the "customization" of the htc home plugin, but it seems that the way the plugin works has changed since this thread and the version gregory released
- what is missing is something like a documentation on the htc home plugin, so which parts are implemented, how are they called from the homescreen etc. maybe gregory, if he's still around here has any idea(s) ???
- i just got that the weather.exe sets the city, downloads and refreshes the local weatherdata. So the output has to be somewhere else.
sounds like you are onto something here. Since the HTC home weather plugin is causing some problems, I think I am going to take a look at some other weather plugins. They might make it a little easier. I'm specifically looking at SPB Weather and Fizz Weather.
The only problem is, once I install them I'm not really sure how to put them into the slide panel. I'm going to play around with it and I'll let you know.
A tip from my side... always start from the delivered .xml files for the theme. mostly you can see there how they are implemented in the home-screen... then you just have to copy it.
i am wondering why the htc home plug does not work with the bronze. rinkus iconbar does, and its also just another plugin implemented... It also would not make sense that microsoft put something in the code of bronze which disables other home plugins

You mit be better waitin until HTC release a WM6.1 Standard ROM to see if HTC customize bronze to have parts of there Home plugins integrated and extract everything from a ROM then making a cab file to install it .

this was my first thought, but as you may know, there are people out there (yes, i am one of those ) that do not like to wait and have things first and before all the others do

I wonder if there's a Coreplayer version for WVGA devices, i mean, i know you could use Coreplayer with HD2 but the skins don't look good as they are for smaller resolutions.
Truth be told, no one has tried making a nice WVGA dedicated skin, not even Coreplayer makers. There are a few but none decent to my liking. There was a mockup on their forums that never got released. Maybe someone will start making one after all, but then maybe Coreplayer 2 will bring a nicer interface...
I hope someone here has the skill to make a decent one

Hi!
Found a nice Black HTC skin for CoreP in another forum: http://www.persian-forums.com/f95/coreplayer-1-3-6-skins-ppc-32936/
Can't find an author name or nothing, hope he don't mind me posting his skin here...
And this one have multiselect as well.
Just copy and paste into CorePlayer folder:
Maybe someone here good at PhotoShop could make a slightly bigger new background that says HD2 Leo or something....

1. Download the zip file to your local PC
2. Rename the file skin.zip to skin.cps
3. Copy the file to the core player directory.
4. Start Core Player
I made a basic one for the Touch HD but it a time consuming task - if I remember I gave up as I asked for documentation or tips from Betaboy but never got a reply! It was VERY similar to this skin. ta

Is there any added functionality in these new cool skins? I mean, I don't really care how my CP looks like as long as it would have bigger buttons, at least the ones next to the song/movie title on the top. It's hard to tap accurately on those small buttons with your finger, whereas you can tap a single pixel accurately with a stylus (ok, maybe exaggerating a little
Since I found the HTC Leo's Sense quite difficult to edit the bloody Manila files (in OMNIA was... totally simple project), I'm willing to give (via PayPal donate) some cash, to someone who can create what I need...
He (they") will give me the exact dimensions of the files and I PERSONALLY will create my own graphics and I'll give him (them?) the files and he (they?) will create me what I want...
I want:
1. Co0kie (my personal) clocks (flip/analog)...
2. Slider (my personal) icons...
...and a couple things more; I'll have to check.
Anyone interesting?
Try CHTtweaks. You can change many of the items of co0kie home tab including flip & analog clock, softbar, lockscreen & SMS & email widget using simple png files; also you can get lot of transparency and easily chage text fonts. All with a simple file explorer, forget about manila files.
Regarding the slidertab is a bit more complicated, but if you upload here your png files for sure some other user will kindly help you. To start with you should install in your PC m9editor and / or CFC_GUI; also Resco Explorer or Total Commander in your device; then do a search in your device's windows folder for *_manila; then copy all the founded files to your SD and from there to your PC.
In post #8 of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696214 I did update a zip with all the files included in the slider-tab. Unzip in a separate folder in your PC. The files have the manila names, but png format. You can edit each one with PS, just keep the names and the sizes. It will be easy to convert them back to manila format before put them in your device.
Do it slowly, and ask here what you need. And do not forget to enjoy!
poy any reason why you would copy manila files to sd card first then pc?
i would just open windows folder on pc then copy straight to the pc.
You are right, probably my PC is very slow so i transfer the files using the card reader and i also like to have a backup copy of manila in SD. Of course is not essential .... the most important is to put all manila files in PC -no matter how- and do the edition there.
lol your pc is slow?
I may have you beat. it takes my pc about an hour and a half to copy all manila files.
frustrating but still hella fun though.
@ OP upload your files.

Thxs all of you, for the interest.
But... I don't know the BLOODY DIMENSIONS of these graph files!
I'm pro designer and if you may check bellow the link, I made a "total-theme" for OMNIA - took some serious time, but was easy, after all.
In OMNIA's "Manila", the project was so "crystal"; just copied EVERY graph file from Windows folder (mobile) in my PC, edited them, re-copied back to mobile... Or even better (with M2DC), I was extracting the ENTIRE theme somewhere in my mobile, copied the theme in the PC, opened via WinRar, editing the files, re-placing back in the "rar" theme file... and back to mobile!
SIMPLE!
In Leo's Sense Manila, it's NOT THAT simple!
Anyways... Is it possible, someone, to give me the BASIC files for these graphics (for example, Sliders icon mask and icon itself, Slider tab's icons, Co0kie clocks seperated graphs, etc.), to edit them (make my own graps) and help me out?
HERE IS my first personal Co0kie wallpaper (wide) I made; maybe I'll make others too, but I like that (see bellow)...
So... I wonna make some serious modifications, with the... obvious theme!
