android & Microsoft & vice versa - General Questions and Answers

I was wondering (sorry for sounding stupid); if you can put android into a microsoft phone, can you put microsoft into a Dell Mini 5?
I've been trying to find some site to answer this but I think the best place to answer this is here.
Thanks

AFAIK windows mobile isn't open source. So the kernel code is not available.
Android however is open source so you can download its code to port it to other devices.

I appreciate your answer. While patiently waiting for the HD2, this Dell Mini 5 is now being shown, now I'm a Windows man (?) & the Dell being Android which is kinda new, I use Google search. With this in mind am I already familiar with Android???
I hope you understand my dilemma, simply put am I already using Android?
I don't like Bing I use Google search.
Lastly am I waiting for a Windows phone or should I be getting the Android (Dell Mini 5)???
(Lots of questions but again Thanks).
This is driving me crazy!

I hope I understand your question. Android is a very user-friendly OS, so it's not important if you're familiar with it.
If you buy an HD2, there will be android available for it in future and maybe also windows phone 7 series.

I don't understand your question. Do you want to ask if you are already using Android when you use Google search?

Again, I suggest you buy the HD2, it's a great device!

No problem, you're welcome.
Let me know if you have any more questions.

Thank you, you did understood my questions.
I've been following the 'Leo" for a very long time but since then new apparatuses have arrived & all this talk with Android, I just wanted to make sure that by the time the HD2 gets here it would still be proper to buy.
You have calmed my nerves & waiting for the HD2 is "still" at the top of my list. Its been awhile but good things come to those who wait.
Again Thank you

I figure here is the best place to say this, Android is lagging in so many ways I'd be a fool to go there. The Dell Mini 5 looks good but the Android really is lacking. I truely hope Windows can get themselves into the cloud as quick as possible. Regretfully the HD2 isn't allowed there (WIN7) & to wonder how long before another phone would be developed with regards to the mighty HD2 makes me accept the HD2 & use it for the lenght of time until the WIN7 becomes usable, concidering this is a new decade with new ideas.
I don't think I will have any regrets doing this.
Thanks.
Hope this makes sense to you.

Yup, it isn't a WinMo subject, but, given that a lot of people want to install OS X on their desktop (regardless of when they want to develop for the iPhone or not), they will surely welcome my tutorial, which is way better and much more up-to-date than anything else out there.
there is another whole forum dedicated just to putting os x on ur normal everyday pc. believe its in the link, insanelymac? its been out there since 2005 when it debuted and i ran it on my pentium 4 lol.

Yeah, there surely is - if you read my guide, you'll see I've linked to a lot of insanelymac threads. It's just I wanted to announce the existence of my guide on also the WinMo boards I'm a regular at - after all, it's the first step-by-step guide to for example setting up the latest and greatest distros, hacks and kernels on the t4x-series Thinkpads ever written.

There are people like me preferred original rom which is much more stable and hussle free.
I voted.. i want wm6.5 with TF2.5.
Me tooo
. i want wm6.5 with TF2.5.
When was the last time an online petition worked? Just use a cooked clean ROM.
This is not gona happen.
Because of the fact that IF Microsoft releases wm6.5 for a phone it MUST have the windows button (Thats a button with the windows logo on it)on it.
Same thing if microsoft agrees a a keyboard to be a windows keyboard, u need the windows button (the one left to the ALT button)
So the TP has a Home Button (Symbol like) and all new phones and the ones who had an upgrade had the windows instead of the home button.
So its a thing between the hardware manufacture and microsoft. If u want wm6.5 for ur device make shure that the button is there.
No windows logo on the button no wm6.5 or higher, its that simple.
new dev is stopped on older devices. if you really want it, go do it yourself. theres nothing better about an official rom, they are slower and full of crap. especially branded ones.
another senseless "i want, i want, i want.." thread..
there are hope
http://msmobiles.com/news.php/8744.html
And if you can't wait until then...
EnergyROM Akeo (WM 6.5 with TF3D 2.5) for Touch Pro
Seriously, though: does ANYONE know of ANY online petition that has EVER worked? I strongly doubt it.
This is a complete waste of time and effort. There are already ways to get WM 6.5 on our devices, and that's the best direction to channel time and effort.

yes but people like me aren't that smart as you guys, i'm new like many other people and i can't find quickly what i want to find, like how to upgrade it, all i find is complexed words etc!
there's a good reason why we also have tutorial threads in their respective forums. If you want to upgrade your rom, then you go to the ROM development subforum, read the stickies and if you have any basic questions, google it OR if google doesn't strike, ask on the forums. Plenty of people willing to help.
The fuze is my first winmo phone and I learned it by lurking the forums. I read, searched, tested, and played with the phone until I learned what I need to learn. XDA and fuzemobility are massive treasure chests of information if you're willing to search (logically). Go to the right place and search and you'll find all the info you need. otherwise there are plenty of members out here that are willing to help.

Should I got HTC Windows Mobile or Android?

I am waiting for the Sony Xperia X10 to come out, but was wondering, what is the best Windows Mobile device coming out that will be able to run windows mobile 7?
I was waiting for the HTC HD2 , but understand it is not able to use 3g on At&t's network.
I like the Sony and not sure what the pro's of having windows mobile would be. Looking for a upcoming windows mobile device to contend with the Xperia.
Welcome to forums
Wll I would choose an HTC device because the great support of this site.
As for the new models, have a look here:

I´m not sure about which one will be able to run WM7
I would stay with WM as Android is to young and unmature OS for now, I´m sure in the near future will be great.
Just my opinion
Good luck,
That being said, what is going to be the best WM device say through Feb 2010?

Thanks that helps!

There's a sticky at the top of this forum, called [EXCLUSIVE] HTC Portfolio 2010 (Q1-Q2). It has all the 2010 Q1 & Q2 devices with full specs and info. The rest is pretty self explanitory

did you spend ANY time to search on the forum before you posted? IT IS NOT POSSIBLE.
technology not compatible, despise it is near the same devices are unique to run windows or android, you should be able to sell your w phone and get an android version
also keep in mind that you might not be happy with the android version. if used to windows phone you will find the higher battery drain under android quite disturbing.

Woot !!!
Hello guys,
Seriously, I'm currenlty struggling to get one, as they're only availabel in the U.S. and nobody wants to ship to my location...
If you really have one of these and want Android, then please make things simple for everybody : contact me to sell yours and get an Android model !
On the other hand, i agree it would be fun to be able to run an SD Android ROM like we did on the HD2, but if you're looking for a NAND ROM, justs swap for a regular M8 that's available everywhere !
P.S. : I'm serious about wanting to buy an M8 for Windows... AT&T unlocked, as we're using only SIM cards here. Thanks ! ^^
Isn't there any swap section on this forum, btw ?
As a FYI to anyone that happens to be messing around in this space: I've intentionally bricked my (Win) M8 into QDLoader 9008 mode, but haven't gotten much further as the device doesn't appear to fully implement Qualcomm's Sahara protocol, or at least implements it differently than any examples for other devices that I've found - it will do the hello handshake and a mode switch but returns some sort of error after that. I'm out of relevant docs and examples on Sahara and firehose though, so I'm pretty much done unless I decide and manage to hook up JTAG.
There was a poster in another thread who said they were able to install android this way, but then never reported back with their "tutorial". As such, they may very well have been lying, but unless someone who understands the M8's Sahara support chimes in, it's still a possibility. Not trying to get anyone's hopes up though, as I'd say it's still unlikely given the lack of dev effort for this phone.
any updates?
Anybody hear about any update on this topic? My friend and I are willing to work on a project to see if we can make it possible. We just need to know where to start. As of now, I have the HTC M8 unlocked to sideloads apps and what not. Anything helps. Being negative never gets you anywhere. Being positive opens new doors. Thanks for your time.
Developers! can you convert windows htc m8 to android?
Hello Developrs!

if you are serious, please contact me on my email [email protected]
we'll keep in touch
Thanks for the offer, but I've bought a Lumia 950 now.
BTW, your email address seems to have been "anonymoused" ! ^^
.
Checking in for any updates. I got handed this phone in an insurance upgrade.
Hi, I can't find the other 3d about the porting, but today I was thinking about the mi4.
If you remember, the MI4 LTE can switch between windows mobile and android... maybe if we study the tools and the code behind that device we might modify/create a tool or (maybe) at least find something interesting that we can apply to our htc one m8.
I'm not a dev and my english is very bad, but I wanted to share with to all of you my thoughts.

Any Windows 10-Mobile Launcher out there?

Hey guys,
I just saw the new Windows 10 Mobile (right now the final version I think) and was allowed to test the new system for a couple of days... And it's extremely impressive! :good:
But, 'cause I love the variety of Android, I don't really want to buy a Windows Phone...
So... is there somewhere a launcher out there I didn't found by using Google? Everything I found hasn't anything to do with the new "Windows 10-Mobile-Look&Feel".
I know this isn't a common topic, but perhaps other XDA-Friends are searching for this, too?
I'm sorry if my english is so terrible as I think it is
thx
