[REQ] Update the Gallery

After using the 2.1 Roms with the 3D gallery..whenever i go back to 1.6 (which i always have to do for one reason or another) the gallery just doesnt cut it...
I really dont like having multiple applications that do the same thing so i was seeing if anyone wanted to or already has edited the gallery so that..
- theres a slightly more attractive ui (doesnt have to be all 3d and stuff)
- grabs pictures from your picasa
- swipe through the pictures

Sorry for being so harsh but really? A phone wasn't even made to be used as a camera anyways(a crappy one at most) or some picture editing software. At most you would post this in the APP section as an request to see if people were willing to make you such an app.(I have no knowledge of gallery apps as I've never used my phone as some gallery picture viewer)

Hum... looking into Market, there really aren't any good gallery applications around. I guess all we can do right now is wait for the official release of 2.1. It should be out soon.

sheeeeet hahaha my bad bro...you obviously dont like/use the gallery/camera so i dont know why you even opened this thread....anyways theres a thread for browser enhancemets (loccys) mms enhancements (cant think of the devs name right now) phone enhancements (cytown? or something) just thought maybe if someone was interested in doing something new this would give them something to sart on...
oh and whether or not you think phones should or shouldnt have cameras...they ALL do now soooooooo at least make the gallery nice google must of realized it since they changed it in 2.1
and READ i dont really want another app just some changes to this one that everyone could incorporate in there roms..

Lol i dont like the gallery neither but i'm more into what the devs are doing to make the phone faster, more reliable, convenient and more interested in having an ancient G1 still competing with the newer phones out right now so f--k it leave the gallery and who wants to take a pic with this phone anyways its ****ty since day 1

I think this sounds like more of a demand than a request. But you should get new phone so there would be no lag at all *happy reading!

Try Beautiful Widgets, and no the Sense UI and Cy mod are not capable together. Maybe the kernel will sometime but not the actual rom. BTW major off with the section try Q&A next time before you get flamed hard.

This is development. You had an extremely simple question that could've been answered in cm's thread, or better yet in Q&A if you insist that your question is important enough to warrant it's own thread. Respect gets respect, even on the internet.

No because it's so much easier to port a whole ROM over than it is to do a hybrid. Theoretically, it would be possible to take the frameworks of Sense and apply them to the source.
Besides, your analogy seems kind of flawed. It's like saying a few days ago, "If it was possible to get full 3D and Video Acceleration on 2.1 we would've already done it." And all it took was one very dedicated and intelligent coder named Cyanogen doing it.

agreed. probably possible.. but whats the use?

Even if it was possible we have to remember it has been out for two days and is an experimental rom. NOBODY wants to work for a few hours for a couple days only to have a new, more stable rom come out that could potentially break the work they just finished. They would rather have a rom that is "stable" and won't be replaced within days (Meaning yes, a long-term rom that won't be updated for 2+ weeks).

By the time that happens we will have all discarded our G1's. Do remember people do this as a hobby not for a job, that's for actual devs that do it for a job.

Possible Video Recording @720p?

I have a copy of the Evo camera files. Does anyone know how I'd go about porting it to the Desire like the N1 folks did with the Desire camera? Is it just a case of changing drivers?

I'm pretty certain Evo has a different Camera. 8MP if I remember correctly, pretty certain you won't be able to port it across.

First of all for this to work you have to assume the camera in the desire supports 720p recording. Then, if the cameras are anything alike, you could probably port the kernel bits, then the interface bits, then the camera itself. Looking at the apk alone isn't enough.

Had a go at this my self last night, the apk alone isnt enough and there is no kernal source yet for the Evo.
HTC have confirmed that the desire supports 720p capture, this was expected to be pushed in an update from HTC a few weeks after launch but same old same old.
would be a fantasic achievement, once the Evo kernal is up and all files available I will begin to research and attempt to port if possible.

Yes they have indeed. Read the press release they gave when desire was launched. Actually when it was first announced, they said its going to be a feature from the first place!

Eh, no they didn't. They said DivX alright but the 720P thing was just very lightly hinted at. In any case we're recording at 480 now and we get 15FPS, if we up that to 720P you should expect nothing more than a 5FPS slideshow

I defninatly get more than 15fps on 480p, over 20. But i did read that 720p was supported by the Snapdragon and also by the Desire's camera sensor

This was confirmed and laid out on the "pre launch" spec sheet I recieved at work.
720p capture is 100% possible and will come in a future update along with Divx playback.
the drivers/software were not finalised in time for launch.

My thoughts exactly.... In the words of LoxDev... HTC Sense only makes sense if you like waiting for updates.
The hardware support is there, we just need to get our heads down and try and port the correct drivers etc.

It really doesn't matter if it was on an official statement from HTC because the Desire and N1 have the same CCD sensor, N1 now has 720p recording capabilities thanks to FroYo.

Does anyone know where com.HTC.rosieutility is located or what on here could still be causing it to fc on boot it doesn't affect the phone at all its just annoying seeing that every reboot

Yup you'll still be rooted with toasts method at least never touch the unrevoked root
I have no idea about 4g I would say probably not since I didn't change anything in that regard
I'll get back to u on the market

you will never get an aosp rom. 2.1 doesn't support wimax or the high video drivers. htc made the updates needed for those.

Ya sry about that but to be honest I like the little HTC touches here and there it actually tends to complement vanilla more then you might realize

WOW. almost 300 posts and you were WAITING for someone to rm a few apk's and then add one or 2? NO offense to you and i appreciate op just going thru the effort to share and ul, WE should all appreciate any contribution and if you have a problem with it just dont comment or use it. Just dont understand why you wouldnt just take 10 minutes and do it yourself. It takes ops longer cus hes also got wait for it to upload so he can share. This is not a crack and i am not a child. This is just my 2cents and what i thought while reading this comment.

Good job. Thanks for the speedy contribution towards our shiny new evo rom collection I remember liking sense and aosp so i like both and i always wanted sense to run right. That was everyones complaint with sense. Well thats not an issue anymore. I thought i would be all on it, like with my hero w/o thinking.....well as soon as i got my evo i forgot all that i learned about root and why to do it....JK but i am very satisfied with it and i will wait until i can access recovery and rw to system from device before i do. I spent the whole time i had my hero trying to make it into a device like this.....well now i have it Gimme a week and i think ill go to work.......

This is just the stock ROM with Sprint apps, HTC widgets, and the Sense launcher removed. It is still loaded with Sense.

as you can see i thougth sense was removed completely and if you think you can do that by just removing a few apks show me. also even if i had 1000 post, this could be my very 1st android phone and those 1000 posts wouldn't mean a damn thing, just my 2cents, if you don't have anything helpful to say, shut up.

Until we have fully functional aosp/froyo/2.2 you wont have a rom that will even work without a bunch of sense remnants wasting space on your internal storage and increasing rom size.HTC is a shiny ui htc used to lure in all the apple morons(no offense i used to have an iphone before my hero). and since they made the devices, they're plaguing software/htc sense is an integral part of the ruu they put together. This is the reason everyone always wants a non-sense rom or VANILLA. We will not have full function vanilla until toast or someone else here compiles an0ther makeshift kernel, or lastly when htc releases the source so that we can compile a kernel with the right device drivers, to give us a full function rom. It would be to say the least, very very very hard to just compile the right drivers for the htc device hardware, thus all the aosp/froyo with certain features such as cam, or 4G missing.......hope this helps you und3rstand what you are looking for a little bit more clearly. In theory, YOU or I could create the source code for the kernel and drivers. Is that going to HAPPEN?????????????????? Probably not. Dont worry though, we have toast, so we happen to have a head start in the race.....

Rosies gone and most of the apps that where randomly coming on and wasting mem/batt. Are gone this is all I'm worried and it runs nice as **** I mean has anybody that had something bad to say even try it

search my name in xda search youll find PLENTY of inter3sting things ive said. Do your own homework before instulting me or anyone else please.I meant neither of you any disrespect. I noticed what you did when i looked. Just wondering, were you unhappy with your evo when you got it? or did you just make a new rom to give everyone another choice of rom? or maybe even your personal, like i do sometimes? Just curious.....
@ops. I never spoke ill of your work, jic you took it that way, im not that guy. I appreciate any contributions to the community and have spent months of my own time staying up finishing up things ive been working to complete my self in order to ul and share with the community. HTC Zoe on Nexus?

I know this is a long shot but here it goes...
I used to have the HTC One, and I LOVED that phone. I switched to the Moto X, and loved that. Now I have the Nexus and love that. Now I want the HTC M8 because I think I will love that. Anyway, you get my point...
But one thing about the HTC One that i liked a lot, was the Zoe feature. Not so much making the slideshow for you already, but the fact that it took the 3 second picture/video for you so that you could make a clip with it. I know Google's Auto Awesome does this already, but just a basic slideshow. Is there any way to port that feature for the camera? Or if not, an app similar to that?

Yeah I looked into it and figured if we couldn't even get the sense launcher, there was no hope,
but is there a camera app that would do something like this? I could edit it myself, or use Google Photos to edit it (although navigating that app is a PITA) but just a camera app that, you, or someone else that knows that could work?

Yes and No...
I don't mind Sense at all, I had a few issues with 5.0 with the small things like a black BG on the dock, etc. But I really want to take small, quick movies when i press the shutter button, so that I can make quick, small edited movies that don't look like the boring old slideshows they have now. I want it to be an "animated slideshow"
