Does it work on 1.66 (479.2)?
I have 1.66 official rom from htc.com (europe one, edning with 479.2) and its not working..
Its the .cab from Skype.com before they pulled it.
If you give us more details we will be able to help more.
skype stopped developing for windows mobile. ive read that they are working on a wp7 version, but support for 6.5 has stopped. unfortunatly, the alternative i was going to reccommend, fring, has dropped skype support 'due to network stress' (there is a lot of talk that it is due to the iphone and apple not liking it), so i would expect a a lot of 3rd party providers to follow. you could have a look at nimbuzz, but ive got no experience in using it.

So i've contacted Qik to ask when the programme will be available for the HD2. They basically said they don't know. I asked if the CAB from the Samsung Omnia II would work (because it runs Win Mo 6.5) and they sent me the CAB to test it. It installs but doesn't work.
Would anyone be able to get this to work?
hi
qik will dont work on my hd2
thx
srox
hi there,
is there really no one outside, who can make this .cab run on HD2 ???

is this program to do with recording live video on the internet? if it is i installed a version of this on my diamond 2, surely it would work on hd2 too. i got it from freeware pocket pc you should google it maybe try it out.

Yes it is. No ther version works with the HD2......yet. I thought someone on this forum would be able to get the cab ( in the top post) to work with the HD2.
Qik
Same here, waiting and hoping that Qik makes a HD2 cab.
So Qik if you are reading this?
Please, pretty please with sugar on top.
Help us poor HD2 users
hopefully, the US release of HD2 makes them step up their game and make it work!
I sent them a messege on the twitter account hopefully they respond, they seem to be working with sprint for a evo 4g version already, hopefully hd2 isnt' skipped.
IF you go to http://www.skype.com/mobile/, what you find absent is Windows Mobile!
This story makes me hope that Skype for WM is not dead, because I use it almost every day.
What do you think?
Yeah but there are plenty of other apps that can connect to skype
Such as?
Fring? Tried it. Not as good.
Nimbuzz? Same.
What else is there?
Not sure why they had never put a link to windows mobile so it is better to download it just incase.

implus (latest version only) works well for skype Although its only a short trial version
Perhaps this has got something to do with it!!!

This is on their FAQ:
Why can’t I download Skype Lite or Skype for Windows Mobile?
Unfortunately, Skype Lite – a version of Skype for your mobile phone – and Skype for Windows Mobile are no longer available for download from our site. We’ve chosen to withdraw Skype Lite and Skype for Windows Mobile because we want to offer our new customers an improved mobile experience – much like the version that has proved so popular on the iPhone , and which is now available on Symbian
It seems to suggest a new version coming?
I hope so!
Thanks for the post.

Skype withdraw Skype and Skype Lite apps for Windows Mobile... I hate Skype already.
We can still use it but no updates no nothing ...
yes..skype and adobe are among the first the abandon winMO 6.5. soon skyscape for medical apps and more.. there no sense in supporting it anymore. WinMO 6.5 is DEAD.
I think its a money politycs from microsoft, not supporting WM6.5 because they want sell more WM7. Baaaad dog, baaaad
and a funny thing is that im looking for a skype app on hd2. I did download it once before but now i need it again. Can someone help with link or directions:>? please

Tried to install that, it won't install because it doesn't have a digital certificate, how can I fix that?
why don't you use native winmo VoIP support? .It's much better I think, and it's integrated with the dialer, there's no difference receiving a voip call than a normal call I love it!
I have both skype and fring. I do prefer this last one, with skype the only loudspeaker works.

i have the PPC version installed on my HTC and the only issue is on the create account screen, and you will need to download a patch that fixes the sound coming out of the wrong speaker
i think this is the correct one i am at work atm and havent had a chance to test it can somebody confirm this is the right patch?

...Bump....
I can't open the file, nothing happens when I press it
I have Skype 3.0.0.256 , the latest version for Windows Mobile.
This is not extracted from EXE file, this is the CAB from skype site (it was there)
it doesnt need and patch or anything, I use it everyday making calls, chat with no problem.
(I still dont know why they decided not to continue supporting this, works perfect)
here you have it.

We’ve chosen to withdraw Skype Lite and Skype for Windows phones because we want to offer our new customers an improved mobile experience – much like the version that has proved so popular on the iPhone, and which is now available on Symbian phones. We felt that Skype Lite and Skype for Windows phones were not offering the best possible Skype experience.

What is skype. I've heard about it for these past 2 years but never bother to check it out.
I just went to the official website and the only thing I got from it was People paying for a skype credit to use skype services such as "free calling" and not using mobile minutes.
Can someone tell me what use do you use skype on their HD2 for? It seems like its great but I am not convinced enough to try it out.
I can upload to u a skype cab. but I suggest to use fring, since it allows to speak with earclip. voice experience provided by skype.cab is very bizzarre...the only loadspeaker will work!
I have Skype 3.0 for Windows Mobile which must be executed from your PC and an Active Sync connection and I have it installed on my Rhodium and it works great via Wi-Fi and wherever I have 3G. As just mentioned there is a CAB version available as well. I don't get this decision to make it unavailable to Windows Mobile users given that Verizon Wireless has Windows Mobile devices in their stable and if you get your hands on 3.0 for WM devices why no love for these devices?

What a shame... they cant develop good interface for winmo and they blame it easily on the OS itself
There is nothing the HD2 cant do what an iPhone does but there are a million things the HD2 can do but the iPhone can not

The Second link i quoted in my original post, has an app that you run as well as Skype that reroutes sound to the earpeice, or louspeaker.

Hi,
Now mango apps are available in marketplace but i don't see any application for SIP/Voip...Is there is any application available?.
Thx
Wait until December, u will c Skype.
+1 only this one thing is preventing me to use wp7
Skype is not a solution for me. I use private sip provider
Sent from my HTC Pyramid using XDA App
Skype will be nice, but I need a true SIP solution, like Agephone was for WM 6.5.
Anyone know if there is a SIP under development? Or if it is even possible with he currently available APIs?
I really wish people didn't pull dates out of their a**. There's no information Skype will be available at that time.
