Trackball notifier help... - Nexus One Themes and Apps

Besides the one I have installed right now, Trackball Notifier 1.0 beta3, is there another app that does a universal alert?
Like, right now, this one only does the color alert when it is a SMS, not for email or anything else. Is there a app that covers SMS, email, and apps as well?

Does it work though? I tried using this feature but it always seemed to be a white flash. If the trackball notifier from XDA manages to extend support to emails etc it would be awesome

i have tried it but, not got it to work corectly yet, as trackball color notifier would kick in aswell, but did mange to get it go green for a contact but it then quickly changed back to my default color red in trackballcolornotifier.

Flashing LED notification different colours and rates etc

Hi there,
Is there an app that allows users to change the colours of LED notications for SMS, emails, etc from green?
Cheers
I use SMS pop up, which allows me to set the color of the LED and blinking pattern (and vibration pattern) for SMS to whatever I like. You can even get different notifications for different contacts.
Then I use K9 mail for Pure (with the Pure Messenger Widget) which gives a blue LED for email, one can also choose a different sound, but that's it.

Handcent problems

Got a weird bug that's started today. When I receive a message I have my little screen bubble with a smiley in it for handcent and no a black and white envelope and my ring tone plays twice too? I disabled notifications in the stock app so no idea why I get this other notification? It stays there until i clear it or click, and clicking just takes me to handcent??
Anyone help?
Just upgraded to CM7 on HTC Desire HD btw
do you have any other message app installed on your phone that shows the messages or otherwise?
oh and if you have handcent set up as default message application, that will be why it goes to handcent. to me it sounds like another app notifying you. one that comes to mind for me would be pure messenger widget. or another app that uses multiple messaging methods (e-mail, sms etc)

[APP][>= ICS] GMail Unreads Notifier

Hi,
I present a new application, compatible with Gmail for Android (versions for Ice Cream Sandwitch and higher).
I will implements recurrent notifications for unread messages (in inbox or prioritary inbox).
Due the limitations of the Gmail API, that exports the total unread messages count, nor the messages, the notifier can't detect new messages in certain scenarios.
By example:
The notifier works fine in this cases:
* Receive a new message
* Read messages in the device
The notifier not detects a new message if
* You have X unread messages and (in another device, like PC) you read Y messages and Z new messages are arrived before next phone sync (and Y + Z < X)
In other cases, the app works fine.
Comments are welcome!
For use it, you can disable ringtone notifications (setting notification sound to silent) in Gmail (prioritary or normal inbox depending of your choice), but not notifications (i like gmail notifications and I don't have included in my app),
the go my app and configure repeats, sound and vibration the enable the service in the top-right of the screen.
Play Store Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ryosoftware.gmailnotifier
Changelog
1.0.0
- Initial release
1.1.0
- Corrected bug calculating the silent hours
- Added spanish translation
1.2.0
- Added setting in order to continue playing leds (but no sounds and vibration) when reminders max count reached
Released into the Play Store

not working for me
I am running android 4.1.1 and gmail v4.2.1. App doesn't seem to do anything.
I configured:
1. Gmail app notification on but silent.
2. On your app picked acct, turned off priority inbox (to monitor plain inbox), picked ringtone, turned off silent hours.
3. To enable, the on/off switch says off in gray (when disabled it says on in blue - a little confusing).
When new Gmail comes through, I am only getting the standard Gmail visual notification. No sound.
Am I missing something?
I really want this to work because I too like the standard Gmail notification, I just want it to repeat.

It works now (D'oh!). I swear I tried both toggles before. Oh well, thanks:good:
Well, I still have a couple suggestions:
1. Change the on/off to "enabled" and "disabled". The problem is that on/off refers both to the state of on and off and to the process of turning on and turning off, so you're never quite sure what you're doing when you push the button.
2. If possible, and this sounds more complicated, make the beeping stop after the notification in the pull down has been dismissed, even if the email hasn't been read. The reason I like the standard Gmail notification is because you can see what the email is straight from the notification area and dismiss it without even opening Gmail. But if you keep on getting beeps, you have to open it anyway, so there's no point.

Hi,
Happy to known that's working for you!
1)
love the switch, i think don't need to be changed.
2)
not possible to make that, due to the limitations of the Gmail API, that exports only the label names and the number of unread messages, but with the new Gmail app (published just a few minutes ago), you can archive emails from the notifications bar

I agree the on/off is attractive, but now you must click the on button to turn off and click the on button to turn off. Could just change button assignments so that clicking off disables and clicking on enables.

sorry,
possibly i don't understand, but i think the switch is ok.
if switch value is "on" (blue color) the app monitorizes the gmail inbox or prioritary inbox and notifies the new messages (and the repeats)
if switch value is "off" (gray color) the app don't monitorizes (and don't repeats).
is not?

Yes, the blue color indicating on is great. Playing with it some more, what confused me is that when it's on and blue and you press the on (right side of switch) it changes state and vice versa for off.
So when it's blue (on), only the left side of switch should respond to touch. You should not be able to turn off by clicking "on" or turn on by clicking "off". The fact that I was confused says something (besides "what an idiot!").
But anyway, I'm really curious about the new Gmail version. I went to update and nothing showed as an available update.

Is Notification LED Supposed to Light with Hangouts SMS?

I have been receiving plenty of texts, but I don't see the notification LED coming on. I downloaded LightFlow and the test works, so it definitely isn't a hardware issue with the LED. I also have "Enable Notification Light" checked in Display settings. Am I missing something else?
Try led manager. Works great for me plus you can add apps with different colors.

@mrro82 it would be nice to see a color for a hangout vs a color for SMS/MMS.

I believe what he was saying is that it would be nice to see a separate color for each one. i.e. say blue if he receives a SMS/MMS, and green if someone tries to get a hold of him through Google Hangout.
As for the LED with text messages... it works for me, but i will say that there's a BIG gap between blinks. Maybe you're just used to seeing a more rapid blink than what is set up by default on the N5?

Since sms and mms are combined with hangouts, Idk if they can be separate colors. Or regular hangout messages for that matter. The blink rate is about the same as it was on my S4.

There is currently an issue with Light Flow so that if you have "always on" setting for any LED notification it can mess up the other notification light settings (specifically hangouts).
An update should be out soon, according to the dev. For the time being, disable any notification you have set to "always on" and make it blinking or something (or off).
Off the train of thought here, but Google Voice uses a green notification light by default.. Not sure what makes it different except maybe the app is never updated.

You're right. I would like to see two (three is a stretch) different light colors available within Hangouts for hangouts, SMS and MMS. That said (and completely unrelated) Hangouts is a bit crowded with everything in there. I'd like to see a filter or a swipe to see only Hangouts OR SMS/MMS, almost separate inboxes. If this concept went live, I'm willing to bet they could be recognized as separate notifications and therefore different colors. I'm actually playing with my GNex/4.4 with the MMS.apk from 4.3 AOSP to determine how I will setup my N5.
Not working for me as well
Update. It does work for hangouts. You just have to wait a bit for the LED to light up. Don't know how long exactly, but certainly more than 10 seconds.
I seem to have the same problem as the OP. LED works for emails, but not for hangouts. I'd rather not have an extra app running and don't really mind the white LED. Curious to know what might be causing the issue.
I didn't have LED notification for Hangout SMS too. I used Xblast Tools (Xposed module, needs root) to set it up. Works great now.

LightFlow and Hangouts?

Maybe it's just me, but I've not been able to get LightFlow to work with Hangouts. I've set up contacts, and specific colors/sounds, but they get over ruled by the default Hangouts notifications (for SMS at least). Has anybody got this working? Do I have to disable the default Hangouts notification for LightFlow to work?
Version 3.12.5 - 07 November 2013
- Fixed android app store links
- Contact specific notifications for google voice
- Contact specific notifications for hangouts (with some limitations)
- Workaround for nexus 5 not being able to have the led always on
- Fixes for kitkat stock email app
- Support for sms hangouts integration in kitkat
- Better layout of notification list for full hd screens
- Fixed clearing of some sms messages in android 4.3 upwards
just wanted to say i also have this problem.
Light Flow has had a problem playing nice with Hangouts so far, even after the newest update which claims to address these problems. They were working somewhat okay before (albeit notifications were highly inconsistent), but now they just don't work at all with Hangouts. If you read the comments on the Google Play page for Light Flow, a number of users have mentioned this too. So I'm hoping it's a known issue and will be fixed in the next update.
Mine works fine. 3/4 of the time. There's sometimes it doesn't clear the notification. This is for the SMS integration in hangouts. I have custom contacts for colors too. And I have to manually clear it.

try going into the individual notifications you have set and for the clearing method for each one select :Screen on, rather than manually do so etc etc.
I'm now getting duplicate notifications for my specific contacts that I set up in LightFlow. I can get around this by disabling the SMS Hangouts notification, but then it doesn't make any sounds for the contacts that are not set up in LightFlow.
I wish Google/Android devs would actually let me assign different notification sounds (similar to ringtones) for SMS/Hangouts from the contact itself... I've already requested this in the Hangouts product forum https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!forum/hangouts
Use "ledblinker" it works great! Make sure to restart your phone after installation! Lightblow doesn't work

Have you tried contacting the developer through the app? It'll include a diagnostic log, and just explain to him what the issue is. I did this and he literally replied a minute later, explaining that there is a fix on the way and also a workaround to use in the meantime.

it's not a problem with the app, because it's working correctly, but it's an annoyance due to google designing the way hangouts can notify.

I'm pretty sure mine is working OK. I checked settings and I have the following checked;
Enable Light Flow
Root Mode
Run in foreground
Enable Clear All
Accessibility Check
Then for Hangouts SMS and MMS
Enabled
Pull Down
Switch Screen On
Last, set pulse notification light on in Settings, Display.
Hope that helps. Oh, I also have the Lite version.
Mine works fine for SMS and that seems to be about it. I don't really get other notifications often so I can't recall if they work, but SMS is most important to me... root mode, does NOT run in foreground, and SMS apps + MMS set to white. Hangouts is set to yellow but I use it for SMS and it notifies me in white.
After the recent update of Light Flow, now my hangout SMS led notification doesn't work. I tried resetting my phone and doing all the tricks for Nexus 5 but it would not work. The only way to make it work is to set up all notifications for hangouts and disable the SMS notifications. Im wondering if they changed the SMS notifications for hangouts or something. Other then that I have no problems with it for now.

Thanks, that works on my Galaxy Nexus running 4.4.
Light Flow seemed to be the source of much battery drain for me. I'm having more luck with light manager.
I use Light Manager and it works like a charm, however, I don't have it set to different colors for SMS, MMS, and Hangouts since I use the Hangouts app for all 3
I thought the LED (hardware) is white only.
