Why Why Why!!! - Touch Pro2 CDMA

Why does my TP2 only flash Mightymike roms only? ive tried energy roms and and leo evo3 rom ad it jus stays on the TP2 black start screen..
what am i doing wrong.. or everyone else doing right?
Im a Englishman who has bought a TP2 from America on the Sprint network.. and i class my fone as a CDMA.. not a gsm.. i hope that is correct...

I hope that you are not flashing any ROMs in "this" particular forum as they are all GSM. There is a CMDA section that might help, but in reality you need to head to ppcgeeks.com as they are more CDMA based.

Yes you are correct. Since your phone is a CDMA phone, the only roms you can flash are the ones for CDMA.
I'm pretty sure NRG cooks for CDMA TP2 as well. Check it out from the CDMA forum if you like his work.

And to add on, MightyMike only cooks for CDMA.

you guys are the best.. soz i keep putting it in the wrong place.. jus put on a new rom.. but since u guys are in the know..
could u tell me your TOP 3 ROMs to flash on... there is no real thread to list the roms.. just recommending others.. im looking for more concise info.. Just the names.. an i can go find them myself...

For the CDMA phone the most popular ROMS are Mighty, Energy, and Juicy.
Just look here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=98
The ROMS here on XDA tend to be for the GSM versions of the phone so you shouldn't flash those...since Mighty ROM is CDMA only it was probably the only CDMA ROM that you flashed

Yeap! What they said!

The touch pro from Sprint is a CDMA phone, but has GSM capabilities... Is Vodafone a CDMA carrier? or is it a GSM Carrier?
If it is a GSM Carrier, then you must have installed your SIM...this may complcate things....
I see you have JuicyRom installed....I am using MightyMikes rom, and it works better than the stock Sprint Rom...
You must make sure that you do the correct provisioning for Vodafone
Another post on here will direct you download :
Vodafone UK:
Vodafone_Contract_UK_PPC_V2.0.CAB
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/download.php?id=6777)
I have attached the file for your convenience.
I do not have Vodafoen, so I can not vouch for this .cab...I found it with the help of my good friend Google.

wow thanks.. this hopefully should help with my MMS woes as well..
ill give it a try and get back to you!!!

T-Mobile Rom or Cingular Rom??

i may sound stupid but i was wondering...
i am using T-Mobiles 2.26 Rom and tmobile has horrible reception @ my work and house i was justing wondering i flash my phone with a cingular rom and than to flash to any other rom like XDA M63 will i have any better reception??? and if so does anyone know where i can download the latest and best cingular rom??
You can find the latest OFFICIAL Cingular ROM on HTC's website. However, you will need to unlock your phone (if it isn't already) in order to flash another Carrier's ROM.
You might just want to try some different radios on the phone and check your reception before flashing a whole different ROM, though. Those can be found in the ftp section.
but in theory would it work?? i dnt want to have to flash me fone for no reason.. u know?? would i be able to use my tmobile service with cingular reception??

I believe what you WANT to be asking is can I flash a cingular RADIO only rom so I can get better reception while using my tmobile rom or XM6R3...the answer is yes..radio rom's are not provider dependent.
I don't think you'd want to run an actual cingular rom on your phone and then use it with tmobile...I suppose you could but you'd have to manually configure your gprs...mms etc.
mfrazzz explains the flashing process in his first post pretty well for XM6r3 but to recap. Flash Tmobile 2.26...flash whatever radio only rom you want..then flash XM6R3.

Just to clarify, you can flash the Radio after you have installed a custom rom like XM6r3 (you don't have to do it in that exact order). I've changed radios numerous times without reflashing the entire rom with no problems (as long as its a radio only rom).
just one more thing.. where can i find cingular radio only roms?? and is there anywhere i can look to see the differnece??

You can find several radio only rom's in mfrazzz's first post (notice how I keep pointing you back to that OVER and OVER?)...you can do a search on XDA to find the difference's in the various rom's but most of the results will be suibjective depending on carrier (tmobile, cingular) and location..your best bet is to try them and see which one works best in your particular situation.
hey, i got a question, where i work i get no reception but a friend with tmobile has full reception, he has a wing on wm6 and i have a hermes. is there anyway to get into the tmobile reception while im at work? like a progrtam?
Why don't you go and ask him what radio rom he's using.
It should show up in the 'device information' area of your settings folder.

Lets not forget that tower location for each carrier will play a big part in how good your signal is. Where you work there may be a T-Mo tower fairly close by giving your friend a great signal but on the edge of the coverage area for your carrier which is why you have no reception. You can change radio roms all day long and maybe see a little improvement, but it won't put you onto the T-Mo network (unless you can configure your phone to roam on the T-Mo network). I've got the reverse situation where I work; T-Mo gets no signal but US Cellular and Verizon both get decent strength.

Why no custom roms for Rogers Dream?

Can the phone really be that different from the Dev Phone for T-Mobile G1?
Seems like it would be desirable model for US 3G (AT&T). No interest in this model?

there are a few people here who have the rogers phones and have flashed hero and other roms to their phone just cause it does not say rogers does not mean it won't work be careful cause you don't want a paperweight
I'm on U.S. AT&T 3G.
But thanks for the pointless racist comment that does nothing to address the question.
rogers roms
Last time I checked there were several Custom Rogers Roms.
Did you look at soulife's ?
Is there a specific modifcation that can be done to the custom roms to get them to load on the Rogers Dream?
T-Mobile's lack of 3G coverage was not desirable to me so I imported one.
I know Cyanogen mentioned somthing about it but I can't find any information otherwise.

Aren't these rogers roms ported for use on the TMobile G1? AFAIK, those don't actually run on a real Rogers Dream, but if I'm wrong, I'de be happy.

So let me get this straight ... you imported a Rogers Dream so that you could use AT&T in the states ? umk (There are ways to unlock the TMO G1's for AT&T use)
Eitherway ... as far as I know, if you're rooted and have a nice recovery image installed, like Cyanogen's ... you should be able to (with no problem) load a custom Roger's ROM like soulife's (which I liked very much, when I used it).
Dream hardware is dream hardware ... doesn't really matter where you got it.
You may need the HardSPL though.

This is wrong, and there is a whole thread in the Dream forum about it. The Rogers Dream is slightly different hardware and we can't build custom kernels for it yet. Its being worked on, though.

Cyonegens roms don't run on the Rogers, he even has stated as much. He had a custom boot iamge at one point for the Rogers DReam but pulled it because it didn't actually work.
I would agree, in theory, G1 hardware is G1 hardware, but something is different about the device some how. It is a newer revision of the G1 and uses a different amplifier for the different 3G frequencies so who knows what other minor tweaks were done.
Yes I imported one. And I also own a developer phone which runs on AT&T. Now I think it's obvious to anyone that Edge speeds for data or less than desirable. This is simply an unfortunate state of T-Mobile undesirable 3G deployment which is hardly anywhere useful, and AT&T much larger deployment with larger spectrum assets in many markets. AT&T is no Verizon, but it's more solid than T-Mobile any day, where I live for sure. Maybe when T-Mobile goes 3G here later this year I will reconsider but for now I'm happy with AT&T, not to mention my grandfathered data plan is less than T-Mobiles and I'm constantly hitting 1 - 1.5 mbit on AT&T's 3G around here.

Maybe google hates Canadians. I find it odd that there is no developer phone with North American 3G (AT&T/Rogers) frequencies.

But the answer is likely in the cyanogen's correction on the matter ... if they can't build custom kernels ... that would explain the lack of ROMs.

A few people (PhaseBurn in particular) are trying hard to get the specs/code needed to do this. We are kind of at the mercy of HTC right now.

Telstra TP2 questions

Hey guys,
I recently got a Telstra TP2 on a new contract, but I can't stand what they've done to the ROM. For those who don't know, Telstra have added 4 extra tabs on TF3D (downloads, telstra applications, tv, news and sport) which can't be removed or turned off, and they've put 12 locked (unremovable) program shortcuts on the start menu.
As I'm in a rural area, I need the 850 band the Telstra version of the phone supplies, and I'm worried that flashing a new cooked rom will lose this functionality (I'm very new to this). As it is, the shipped version of the Telstra rom isn't found on this site through the wiki (version 1.19.841.3 (51489) wwe), so I'm scared that I'll lose it forever and won't be able to put it back on if something goes squirly.
Is there anyway I can get around this besides flashing a cooked rom, and possibly losing the shipped rom forever?
Also, have any other telstra users been able to use HDWall on the phone to replace the crappy blue telstra background throughout the device?
Many thanks,
Tim
Welcome to forums
Have a look on Rhodium ROM development and choose another ROM!
Good luck,
Thanks for the welcome
I've had a look around, making some heads and tails of it, but I really need to know if I'm going to lose my 850 band with Telstra if I flash another cooked rom without all this Telstra garbage on it.
No you wont
850 is a hardware stuff related and you cant change it with any ROM, so you can install
Just have a deep read on the how to section in rhodium rom development
Enjoy,
Hi there, me again.
I was at the Windows 7/Windows Phone pre-launch in Melbourne on Tuesday, and picked the brains of the Microsoft employees manning the Windows Phone booth showing off Winmo 6.5 on the TP2 and D2. One of the first things I was asked during the conversation was if I had already flashed 6.5 on my phone, which I was surprised about. I mentioned my reservations about losing the 850mhz band with Telstra NextG, and the employee told me that the support for the band is built into Telstra's crappy ROM, and would be lost if flashed with anything else.
Are they yanking my chain or what?
I would like to know this too.
I`ve changed my ROM twice, saved my original one.. and I`ve finally encountered a connectivity issue...
Perhaps it`s my using a Telstra, Unlocked HTC Touch Pro 2 with an Athine ROM (though it really doesn`t make any difference what ROM I use... Maybe) on my Rogers BlackBerry Internet plan.
But I`ve used the Sony Ericsson Xperia on it and a few weeks prior to this date, have had no problem surfing the internet.
It MAY be the fact that Rogers is having problems with their network in downtown Toronto, so I`m hoping it`s not my TP2...
In any case, I`m using HDWalls on my phone.. but I`m just (un)installing the individual walls as I go along.
There`s something wrong with my computer that I have to fix because I cannot install the items necessary to use HDsWalls on the phone, and on the computer.
But so far, it`s been the best.
Although, I just have to say.. if you don`t have anything like "background for all" sort of cab files on the phone, I believe;
1) The phone runs faster
2) The background quality is crisper/better
Took me 2 weeks for me to get my Telstra Touch Pro 2 from Australia to Canada, and it was worth it.
I BELIEVE just changing the ROM will do nothing to the radio.
Moving into radio talk, I was wondering if I updated my Telstra phone with the latest AT&T radio build, because the hardware is for 850mhz and so is the build...
Will it enhance my connectivity?
Does anyone have any expertise on this and help shed some light?

Telus worldwide TP2 on Regers GSM network

I would like to know exacly what are the problems that could happend if I use an unlocked Telus TP2 on the rogers GSM network. I already know about the problem with the phone only running on EDGE. Are there other things I should know?

That's th only "problem".. I'm using the phone on Fido which is basically Rogers and I have no issues at all. Just to let you know though that the EDGE speed is surely slower than that of 3G but you can barely notice the difference when browing using Opera (thanks to Opera for that). Everything else runs smooth, MSN, streaming, even video streaming and skype using edge ofcourse.
BTW it's Rogers not Regers
typo ! sorry!
Anyway, saw a good price for an unlocked GSM HTC touch pro...

For those in canada, it might be a better idea than buying a Telus CDMA one.

Yeah I would recommend the normal version since it is already unlocked and you have a better variety or ROM's. But the downside is that the European version is more expensive. I would recommend ebay though or local deals if you can find them.. better than a website if you don't trust them.

How can I tell if my phone is CDMA and other questions?

Hi Guy's,
I want to hardspl my phone so I can use some custom roms but am a bit worried about turning it into a brick!
My Phone: Touch Pro 2, 3g, Orange UK Branded. WM 6.1
First thing is that I don't know if my phone is CDMA? I have read a lot of stuff around but cannot find a definitive answer?
Also, I have read a lot about custom roms and hardspl and am getting conflicting information. Can I actually HardSPL my device? Which HardSPL version do I need to use? Will it really wipe my phone clean of all the data?
I've also been reading about radios, will the HardSPL knacker my phone, will I be able to use any new updates from my carrier? Will it have any damaging effects on using 3g, hsdpa, edge etc, etc.
If anyone can help I would be very grateful as I want to get the most out of the awesome device.
Guy's,
just done some digging and think my phone is HSPA/WCDMA.
I found it on this link http://www.htc.com/uk/product/touchpro2/specification.html
but can anyone out there confirm this for me or is there another way to check this.
Also if it is HSPA/WCDMA is there a way to HardSPL it?
If anyone could answer that would be great.
If you are on Orange UK, you have a GSM phone, not a CDMA one.
Cheers matey.
