Acrobat Reader on XDA II

Hello,
the pre-installed pdf reader on my xda II doesn't show all pdf-files correctly, so I installed acrobat reader for ppc. Nevertheless, if I tap on a pdf-file in the file explorer or in an email, it opens the file with the other viewer. Only way is tosave the file and open it manually.
Does anybody know, how to male acrobat my default pdf-application or to uninstall the other viewer?
Kind regards
Sascha
any help ??
yah, faced the same problem too ... was wondering is there anyway to change the file association?
help [email protected]@!
Hi,
I don't know of any way to chance file associations with any of the pre-loaded apps, but you can do it with Resco File Explorer. You can download a free trial version from resco-net.com - I can definately recommend this product as a permanant addition to your XDA anyway.
Codenix.
PocketTweak
You can use PocketTweak to easily change file associations.
sounds good ...!
i think it might work, but before i try, there's something in my mind .. then can the built in ppt and pdf viewer be total removed?? thanks.

PDF file association problem

A funny thing has happened with my S710. PDF files are no longer associated with the built in Adobe reader. If I look at a pdf file through the file explorer the pdf file's icon does not show as an adobe icon. Then when I try to open it an error message comes up saying:
"Can't find "<ipdf file name here>" (or one of its componants).Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all the required libraries are availible"
Although if I open Adobe first and then tell it to open the file through the explorer in Adobe, then it works fine.
This used to work fine previously and I can't think of anything I've changed or anything new I've installed since, why has the pdf file association suddenly gotten messed up? How do I fix this?
I'm using the latest official firmware off the HTC website (OS 5.2.1622 build 18128.0.4.4) and the built in Adobe Reader LE. I've never installed any other 3rd party pdf reader either.
Thanks in advance on any input.
PDF reader
Alright, no input on that. How about recommendations on a good 3rd party PDF reader then?
Any help is appreciated.
OK, get a registry editor, if you don't already have one and check the reg-key of the attached "adobe reader.reg" or import the file to the Vox's registry!
Thanks frauhottelmann, I'll check it out.

program to add e-books in sence reader

may be somebody knows an app. to add easily e-books in sence reader. ideas welcome
Out of curiosity, what formats does this reader support? Not that it matters too much, I really can't see it being a patch on Allreader+ which is the best mobile ebook reader I have used bar perhaps Stanza.

ePub, the HTC reader supports the ePub format (don't know if it supports other formats as well). As of now only Freda supports this format. In addition, the HTC eReader support DRM protected ePub books (I have to test this out yet, but the device can be activated using the adobe server)
ebup and plain text both work, haven't tried anything else yet. Just have to access them via file manager, so I asecond the original question.

I second that also, but I think we just have to wait till someone is going to write a program for this. At this moment, there's a little work-around described here. This works very well, but is a bit cumbersome.
BTW, there is some interfacing possible with Adobe Digital Editions. When there is a active sync connection, one can activate the HD2 with this PC program and there is a possibility to copy books to the HD2. However the books copied to the device don't show up in the ereader tab.
On the 2.05 test rom there was a directory "Program Files/HTC Reader" in which there was a subdirectory "manifest". This name is also used by Adobe Digital Edition for its library.
(Not that this is of any use right now, but maybe someone can figure out how the HTC reader interfaces with Adobe Dig. Ed or for that matter, any other pc reader/manager)
btw http://www.epubbooks.com/books has many many free epub books.

it wont do this automagically. There's a database which holds all the books, unfortunately there's no tool available on WM to add new books.
I'll publish one soon.
EDIT: wont publish mine, as one has already been published.
ebook indexer
Try with this

So it doesn't read PDFs? Might have been worth using if it did so I'll stick to Allreader, any EPUB books I have can be easily converted to HTML.
calibre does a great job of converting to Epub
OT: Is there a way how make eReader read different character page correctly? I cannot read all Czech characters correctly, only some of them.

Application to read .CHM files on HD2

Hi Guys,
I have a book in the.CHM format but can't seem to find an application that works well with my HD". Does anybody know a .CHM reader compatible with HTC HD2?
Thanks for the help so far!
Cheers!
Hi ! You may try Allreader ... It works fine for me !
Cheers ~
Managed to install the application but where should I put the book so I can open it?
I am a bit stuck here...
Thanks.
It doesnt matter where you put your books, try storage card. Then you will just have to open Allreader and choose the path .. Menu/Open/Storage card/your book .
I hope this will help .
Cheers ~

You can also convert a CHM file to a PDF or DOC. Just do a google search and you will find a program for it.
chm reader
all chm readers in the market don't support the touch screens
so you can install any of them but no more touch scrolling ... big problem
any help from the experts
If you find a coder who wants and can do it, ask him.
But for the moment, iarapilot has a good idea.

[Q] How add epub books to HTC's Reader and my shelf

Hi....
I am not sure this is the right forum for this but I would like to know if anyone solved or can tell me how to put my epub books so they show in HTC's Reader.
I live in China and have a little bit of problem to get paperback books I want to read. I got lots of epub books but the reader only shows some of them and not even the same ones that been showing before.
Is there any directory in the phone I should put them? Tried to put some in the directory system/etc because I found the original books there but still not luck.
Would really like to know how to do it. I know epub works so can't be that most be some other thing that I need to do.
Anyway all suggestions and help would be appreciated.

Put your epub files on your SD card in a directory called "Digital Editions". They will then show up in the HTC Reader application

Mine are in a folder called "eBooks" and the reader app imported them no problem.
Unsure as to if it does a scan of the SD card or if the files need to be in a specifically named folder (either "digital editions" or "eBooks" or perhaps others also)
I have this problem. Let Someone please help
Windows Mobile also makes it possible.
