EasyTether beta - a new free replacement for PDANet - Hero CDMA Themes and Apps

I've just posted a thread in the Themes/Apps (non CDMA) forum about this new app that is apparently an awesome USB tethering solution.
Unfortunately, TMobile pulled a rather **** move and has blocked the download of this app in the US app market.
In the other Hero thread, I've asked someone from the UK market to download and send the APK through PM, and I hope that it will work.
My situation, like others in the CDMA Hero forum, sucks because my work blocks Adhoc Wireless so I can't use wifi tether for root users on my work laptop, and PDANet sucks because it replaces the HTC Usb Drivers, which breaks ADB and my development on my android apps.
This would be HUGE for us, and DAMN TMobile for doing that to the entire US. Here's a link to that thread, and info about the app.

***EDIT*** still available in the Sprint market (see below) So grab it while it's still there!

Sprint is not blocking this app. I still find that this app keeps a connection well but has really low speeds.

yea but i image the pings of your quest DSL are far better than what a mobile connection will give you...

Can you clarify?
You have the option of keeping your USB driver on install, so it shouldn't interfere with your normal usage of ADB. The reason I asked you to clarify, however, was to see if you meant will it ADB while tethered. If THAT is your question, then I'm not sure, haven't tested that one.

I was referring to usage of adb in general. I don't know if both working simultaneously would add much value to me. You answered my question. Thank you.

Meh.. the 64-bit drivers are unsigned. This will only work on Win-7 64-bit if you manually disable running signed drivers each time you start.

I bought this app. Didn't download it from the market, but from their web page. They send a link to your phone to download the software, so even if the vendor blocks it in the market you can get the app. Not sure how you update it though bc I can't find the apk on their site.
Easytether gets good dl speeds, I average 1.5mb in downtown chicago, and I'm running vista ultimate 64bit (no Linux support, but my home network I just use ics and connectify), but there are still bugs with this software. The DNS resolves domain names, and web browsing works great, but other Apps like hava and slingplayer. Don't work at all. Apt can't find the repositories for installing software on debian which led me to the discovery that trying to ping any domain returns a timeout. Somehow the DNS only works for web browsing. Strange, but I'm pretty sure this is why my other Apps don't work. Ps3 connects up nicely with ics and I can play online games even With the udp support turned off.
All in all, nice software that has delayed me rooting yet again, but still a bit glitchy. Hoping they iron out he wrinkles soon. Oh, all my testing on the Droid btw

damn... dsl speeds are 1.5 mbs??
I guess I'm spoiled here at UMiami lol

I am using the Full, paid version (That I paid for of course *cough*) LOL And it is AMAZING!!! Let me say that it is the BEST i have EVER seen! Blows PDANet out of the competition!
1st. It works along side with the HTC Sync drivers (adb dev drivers) where as PDANet replaces them
2. WAY faster than PDANet
3. Cheaper
I was PMing Devs and asking them if they were going to enable MNS (Mobile Network Sharing) so I wouldn't have to worry about it, but now that EasyTether has showed up I don't even need MNS! When using PDANet, it would be a LOT slower than MNS, and EasyTether is just a TAD BIT slower, if it even is slower. Anyways, Definitely recommended!

Can someone post a link to the developers website. I'm a little confused because there are two 'EasyTether' apps in the Sprint Market and it's not clear which one I should be getting. Thanks!!!

Does anyone else's phone get hot while using this? It didn't get hot before...It always got hot with wireless tether. But never wired. I think my battery is fried.

I love the fact that I just plug the phone into usb and it starts working without dicking around with any settings. I was using the "1x race" workaround for MNS before upgrading to dc1.0. What a pain in the ass that was.
Seems just as fast as MNS was. I don't notice any speed difference. Also, my hero does not get hot using easy tether.

[ROM (not completed)] Raphael Ophone

Hello there. Since saturday evening I'm working on oPhone port. I'm porting from oPhone SDK which is free to download from there
Code:
http://www.oms-sdn.com/
you only need to register.
EDIT (7/7/09 - 17:25):Hey, sorry for "inactivity" but I was working on it but I've updated only my twitter (@detoxcz). I've skipped radio initialization so now you can play with it a lil more. Graphics issue still persists
Get it here: http://www.mediafire.com/?nwdxbmixjm0
EDIT (18/6/09 - 17:18):l Okay, another news. I'm releasing the latest update.zip. Now you can swipe down notification bar and play with it. Graphics issue still persists. I'm workin on it.
Latest build, take it or leave it.
EDIT (17/6/09 - 18:09): We have an update. I won't upload it but now the screen can go black and when you hit Menu you will get to lockscreen (but there is still that crazy graphics issue) and you can see the blue ring (actually, due to graphics issue it's only moving rectangle). Screen is now reacting, when it's dim (not fully black, only dim) and you will tap on it, it will get brightness as before.
EDIT: Some news. I've tried flashing my latest version into G1 and then nandroid. These files I've copied to dir where oPhone emulator images was. I have used mine ramdisk.img, system.img, userdata.img but not the kernel. It works, phone works but can't get trough "Searching SIM Card" dialog (that should be the touch screen block at G1) and when I have done screenshot in DDMS it's same as DDMS from G1. So I'm not sure what the reason for this graphics issue. My personal tip is, that it's kernel with the drivers. I have also tried to copy this (nandroid-ed images from G1) into images forder of regular SDK (not the oPhone one) and phone didn't even start. I'm attaching screenshot with DDMS and emulator.
I already have first test version. It's only for testing because it won't boot properly (in logcat you can see the system is running but no display feedback).
You can get it here
Code:
http://www.edisk.cz/stahni/69148/update.zip_77.28MB.html
(I will upload it on odther sites too)
You WILL need haykuro's new SPL (same as for Hero)
Reason why I'm releasing this is, that I want anyone who can to help. Please try to find out bugs and solutions and write to me and I will do new update.zip. I'm working on it right now but getting even worse than before.
So thanks for your help and advices
PS: You can write me mail: [email protected] or ICQ/AIM: 278-783-808
EDIT: New version is out. It's still only testing version but now it boots and you can see it booted in Home application. From now you can't do anything, you can yust switch out your keyboard and it will animate to landscape and back when you will switch it back. I'm trying my best to get you fully workin' oPhone ROM.
Get it here:
Code:
http://www.mediafire.com/?uimitlz3pr4
and screen from ddms (it's nicer than in device)

Yep, if expecting booting to Home screen i have to dissapoint you. What this do is, that it's booting and booting and booting and there is issue with Video drivers or somethink like that. But when it's booting, you can connect it by ADB.
I think one of the biggest hurdles we are going to come across is driver support on the G1. Rumor that Haykuro had it running on his G1 could have meant recovery console...etc. The Hardware is pretty different on the Lenovo oPhone. I don't think just pushing over some libraries and some .so's are going to do it. I can only assume it will take possibly a recompile of the kernel in order to run on the G1's Hardware.

Yeah, for the meantime I think I'll just stick with playing on the emulator.
The home screen is really the only thing I found so far that makes this an OS I'd like to flash. Personally I think the Rosie UI is a bit nicer.
I do like the ability to have up to 9 screens though.
no this ophone runs on the htc magic which is close to our phone there is a pic of it some where and htc is releasing it this month

Well I agree with you that it seems unlikely that we'll be able to use the full ROM as is, but it seems like we should be able to cannibalize some of the libraries/apks.
Haykuro already ported this, someone might wanna contact him!
Quote from his Twitter page:"no i don't have an oPhone. just got hold of the SDK (openly available http://www.oms-sdn.com/ here) but i DID port the image to the g1
7:06 PM Jun 12th from web"

here is the pic in case any one was curious but its been posted for a while so most of you have probably seen it
i just sent haykuro a tweet asking if he would ever release his port or to atleast tell us what he did to get it working. Is there a way to set the os to english instead of chinese in the emulator.

How the hell do I tether my rooted Infuse without using an app or hot spot?

and before anyone says do a search, i've already done that and they all point to the same useless crap about downloading pdanet or some other app to tether.
i've done it before but for the life of me can't remember how it was done without having to use an app or the hot spot feature. i'm in an office and don't need everyone seeing the SSID and tethering is much faster than hot spot.
my phone is rooted so that's done and i can use the hot spot feature which works fine but when i tick the "usb tethering" checkbox to tether it doesn't work. wtf am i doing wrong? this is frustrating the hell out of me.
do i need to download some extra drivers or is there something else i need to check off or enable to make this thing work? HELP!!!
If you are already rooted all you have to do is download Titanium Backup Root from the market. Then run it, and find a program in the list called tethering manager and REMOVE it. It will be a system file and will tell you as such. Remove it anyhow and the stock tethering program will work fine.
I will be no help, but for those that can help it would be nice if you included more info
What rom are you running?
What kernel?
Or are you just stock rooted? If stock rooted froyo or gingerbread?
Provide as much info as possible, more is better than not enough. Again can't help you figure this out as I've never tried to tether...but I hope someone can help you figure this out

Sorry, guys, but I just checked and there is nothing in there called "tethering manager." Am I supposed to download this or should it just come with the ROM?
The only things I have listed in the "T" section is Task Manager, Tip N Split (cause I'm a damn good tipper), Translate, TTS Service 2.3.3, TwLauncher 2.3.3 and TwWallpaperChooser 1.0.
I've even done the filter to find anything with just "teth" or "tet" but still nothing.
As a last resort, I uninstalled TB and re-installed but still nothing. This sucks major balls!
update 1:
After doing some more digging, I checked the network connections in the control panel on my laptop, and it looks like I'm connected when I check the "USB tethering" feature on my phone but there is still no internet access. What could be causing this?
I've already checked the IP settings which are set to dynamic and my firewall is disabled so that's not the issue. I'm sure it's something simple but I can't figure it out.
Here's a screen shot of what I'm showing:
If you cant find tether manager in titanium backup then maybe try a factory reset and then see if it appearsjust to let you know our infuse custom roms tether and mobile hotspot far better then stock, and tethering manager is not included in any custom roms that I've ever seen.cm7 works the best for me but many of them work great ..trust me I play MW3 on Xbox live all night sometimes with solid connection.....read the stickies and FAQs in the dev forum if you want to flash some custom roms. Your missing out on some greatness
On my phone you have to connect and wait for about a solid minute before it works. Try waiting longer.

I have been seeing a lot about TB and am wondering how useful the pro version is over the basic version for a noob that is just playing around trying to find the best ROM to do what i want while still liking the looks of it. I am using a Samsung Infuse4G that presently hasCM7 installed. I use both Google's Play and the Amazon App store for my apps. I would not even be looking past CM7 right now if it allowed my Bluetooth to work as the tethering portions of it are great. based on all of this, which Titanium would be best and why?
Thanks,
Gary
Tether Manager issue
I have also been dealing with this issue. In some custom ROMs the tethering manager does not show up in TB so you cannot remove it. In others I have removed it and yet the tethering still does not work. This does get confusing for those of us that are not developers and are just learning how to root and load custom ROMs. Is there an easy way to tell if tethering will work before one goes through the process of downloading and flashing all of these different ROMs? I like CM7 the best, but it has no BT so I am looking for something close to it in function that has both.
Thanks,
Gary

If tetheringmanager has already been removed (which is the case for most custom firmwares), wifi tethering SHOULD work.
Tethering Manager
That is what I thought I was told, but it is not working. It still says you need a tethering plan from your carrier. Call 611 to arrange for one, or some such message. Is there something else that needs to be done as well? Also, what about USB tethering? What needs to be changed to let this work?

I was hunting around and found this thread and was looking for some answers?
And at the end of your question the thread just ? stops. did you ever get a answer to your problem?
Or did this thread get moved to a different folder?
I had been trying to help my SO get her recently (me) rooted infuse to tether so I got fairly familiar with how to do it. Not cause I'm an expert but cause I read the crap out of all threads.
It's on your phone and you just need to clk a couple more locations to get to it.
If your still looking to resolve it answer back in this thread.
I was able to do usb tethering on Aeon rom based on GB without 3rd party app.
1. Set phone to debug mode.
2. Settings>wireless & network> tethering and portable hotspots>check the usb tethering.
3. now i can browse the net on pc using data plan of my phone.
hope it will help.

[Guide][Link] Reverse tethering for galaxy Note [Free] (Windows)

Hi,
Seen a lot of users asking whether reverse tethering/Internet pass through (using PC internet on phone) is possible for Note or not.
So decided to post it here.
Okay here is the link to the original thread by capslock66. (All credits to him)
NOTE- This is for Windows users only!!
You do not have to buy any paid app or any router to use this method, it's absolutely free!!
What do you need to use this tool?
Rooted Note
proper drivers installed on pc.
USB tethering enabled on phone.
USB cable.
Summary of instructions to use.
1. Download reverse tethering .zip from bottom of OP from above link.
2. Extract the .zip anywhere on your pc.
3. Copy Tracetool service.apk from extracted folder to phone and install as normal app.
4. Start AndroidTool.exe from extracted folder on pc connect your phone and click "connect" on the Android reverse tethering tool.
5. Allow superSu permission on phone when requested.
Done!!
I have tested it myself on Windows XP and no issue in connecting or installing apps from Google play.

Few other methods (thanks to Cooldoud)

When I need to do reverse tethering I usually use "VirtualRouter", which lets me share my Internet through wifi. I find it a bit more practical as I don't need to have my phone plugged in, but it obviously also means that you're not charging the battery . It does require Windows 7 though and a compatible Wifi driver. If you're under XP, you might also have some luck with dedicated software like Connectify which serves the same purpose. Used to work for me, but a note that I haven't used it in a while.
VirtualRouter : http://virtualrouter.codeplex.com/
Connectify : http://www.connectify.me/
If you want to try a software similar to VirtualRouter, but that has been updated after 2009, you may want to try this one (Win 7 only again). Haven't tried it myself though so can't comment on whether it works
http://www.virtualwifirouter.com/
EDIT: Tried Virtual Wifi Router now, works well, and seems less flaky than VirtualRouter, recommended

No need to download anything for this method to work, just install the .apk included in .zip to your phone. If you are not able to download from Google play then try this.
First enable cell data connection on phone and then connect to reverse tethering tool, I am on Windows XP right now and it is working fine for me with antivirus running and firewall on, downloaded 29MB game in just 4-5 secs.
yes, its working...... managed to update apps from play on LR9
few hiccups still......
so we need to keep mobile data plan on ?
I have used reverse tether from play store long time ago
and i found a note i have put with this application regarding how did it was worked, may be useful
---------------------------
- Install to device (reverse tether from play store)

Hmm just curious and bit confused... So inorder for me to enable tethering, I need to always plug my fone to the usb cable and on to my laptop... Is this how it goes?
If so.. Is there some chance we can still tether but not using any cables anymore? Hmmm like tethering it wirelessly?

Now this is something! I have been looking for this for so long, with my previous phone it did not work but with note it works! Now I can download bigger files at my work with this as we dont have wifi, thank you!
Tried Virtual Wifi Router now, works well, and seems less flaky than VirtualRouter, recommended
Well, we have lot of options to enable wireless tethering but for that user need wifi enabled pc and may need to buy router in other options and in that case it's no longer free, where as the method in OP is absolutely free, you just need USB cable and can be used on old PCs without wifi
That's the motive of the original thread.
But it's good that we have more than one available option to use reverse tethering on Note, it will be easy for users to find best suited. let them coming

WOW...
virtual wifi router is awesome
Works flawlessly without any paid app or any other hustle..
Thanks
ohhh yeahhhh virtual router works..
trying to use my laptop net conn on my note .. connectify not working as virtual router.. can anyone explain the method??
for virtual router to work you need win 7 and above
run this command in cmd
< netsh wlan show drivers >
look for Hosted network supported : Yes
if it says no even if the drivers are updated for WLAN, then its not supported on your card. (WIn 7 and above only)
for this enable usb debugging on phone and install the tracetool apk on phone, open it and click on the 2nd tab on top and allow su access. then run the android tool exe on pc and connect the phone using cable and click connect.

Root Transmission: the ONLY app that allows you to root other phones straight from your own device!
Inspired by Kos's p2p-adb hacking toolkit (http://hak5.org/episodes/hak5-1205), this app is a pleasant, easy way to root other phones while away from your computer! Just two buttons, Root and Unroot! Connect the cable and root away! It couldn't be simpler!
Even has its own terminal window so you can see exactly what's going on while your phone does its thing!
You will need a ROOTED device capable of USB hosting (USB On The Go), a USB OTG cable and one-click root scripts for the devices you wish to root.
Scripts and their associated files should be placed in /sdcard/RootTransmission/*devicename*/*version*/, otherwise it will not be available for use. *devicename* and *version* can be whatever you want.
Note that this is an UNSTABLE version, and you use this app at your own risk. Occasional force closes are to be expected (though they will most likely not break the phone you are trying to root). Incorrectly written scripts can permanently damage or brick both devices involved, so only use trusted 3rd party root scripts and at your own risk.

I've attached a zip with the files needed to root a Verizon Galaxy S3 (SCH-I535), extract it to /sdcard/RootTransmission/ to use.
Note that since I only have one USB host-capable device (my own S3), no warranty is provided over the functionality of this zip since I am unable to fully test it. (It is a repackaged version of the DebugFS one-click root found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1883984 and thus will only work if the device to be rooted is running ICS, which shouldn't be a problem as of yet.)
Again, this is an unstable test version. It should mostly work, but no guarantees on its functionality.

Awesome. I was wondering if this was possible a while ago and now it is. Good work.

This is awesome.. just bought my USB on the go at Amazon.
So where can I find the One-Click-Root scripts for specific devices?
EDIT: Disregard... found them...
Very cool idea! So just to confirm this app uses DebugFS to root other devices correct? So if DebugFS does not work on the device you want to root (aka you have Jelly Bean) this app will not work as well?
Just as a note, adb sometimes fails to detect a connected phone. I would try the following steps:
- ensure USB debugging is enabled on both phones
- unplug and plug the cable on the host device
- reboot the device to be rooted
- in a terminal, run the following commands:
Code:
su
adb kill-server
adb -d wait-for-device
Then relaunch the app.
If it fails after that, then unfortunately adb is just being stupid (trying to figure out what causes this)

Currently, that's the root method for a bone stock S3 (remember that the JB leaks haven't been released yet).
If the only way to acquire root is to use a proprietary program such as Odin, then this app will not be able to root. If a later one click root exploit is released, then it will work for those (and actually, I might have a universal one lying around somewhere that works up to 4.1.1).
DebugFS can be used for other devices, but it is not the only way for the app to root (for example, in the screenie I'm rooting an OG Droid using another exploit). The app's mainly a convenience/novelty way to root phones using the methods available right now. A lot of people have been asking me to root their phones (S3s included), though, and it sucks carrying around my laptop around all the time - hence why I made this app.
Is there a list of devices that this app "should" be able to root? Or a general rule to follow, such as android 4.1.1 and below should be okay to root?

It should be able to root most devices running 4.0-4.1.1 (I have a script that does that). I can't guarantee all will work, but a large number should be able to be rooted.
Other than that, it becomes device specific - you will have to research the particular devices involved.
I'll look around for that universal script and include it in the app next release.
Cool. Really looking forward to seeing this app progress!

wireless adb_p2p??
Just wondering if you thought this would be possible via a adb over wifi?
I haven't had much time to look into the Hak5 kit, but one would think at least on a device with wifi-direct already present out of the box, we could achieve this root transmission without the hassle of USB OTG.
Again, I haven't had time to look over the code, so there may be USB specifics for this method, but I just thought I'd bring up the idea.
On one hand it would be cool, on the other hand it would probably be a pretty serious security hole. Actually I love security holes, so either way its win win for me.

How much of the original stuff from p2p-adb did you keep in this app? Cause there's some pretty naughty data stealing scripts in there... Fairly obvious in the names but still, a layman who just wanted to phreak or skiddie may get themselves into a spot of trouble playing with this in a mobile shop.
Just a word to the wise, is all.
Oh, also, um "Unlock" bootloader Transmission?? Future update maybe?? Hint hint. Wink Wink.

Yeah, I thought about adding rooting over Wi-Fi as well. Unfortunately, in order to enable adb over Wi-Fi you have to either have root on the device (which wouldn't be the case here) or connect the phones together anyway over USB to force adb over Wi-Fi (and you'd have to do this every time the device rebooted). Unfortunately that's not practical.
I just kept the idea from p2p-adb really. There's no data stealing scripts in my app, and pretty much none of the stuff from p2p-adb was reused other than the idea of connecting two phones together to do stuff.
Unlocking bootloader... for the S3, it's a simple download from the Play Store, so it doesn't seem practical to me. Also, there's the potential that I might screw things up, wouldn't want that to happen now would I

I'm working on making them downloadable within the app. Until then, you can search on xda in the forums for the devices you want to root, or just ask here and I'll upload the right ones if they exist.
A script for Verizon S3s is in the original post.
Updated Root Transmission to 1.01unstable.
Following changes were made:
-bugfix: app occasionally FC'd when closing app
-bugfix: app crashed if scripts directory did not exist
-smaller size (166k, old version was 1.62mb)
-made it available only for 4.0 and up (had it set to 3.1 and up by accident)
Available in first post or in the Play Store.
Keep sending in those bug reports, it really helps!
Also, if you have any new features you want to suggest, let me know.
I'm considering the following so far:
-Downloading scripts in-app
-Nicer GUI
-Help text

I searched "Asus Transformer TF101 one click root" and found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1689193
It's a Windows batch script, easy to convert into a Unix shell script (I'll go ahead and do it later this evening). I might post a tutorial on how to convert your own scripts as well at the same time, so stay tuned.

Introduction:
AdClear is a non-root ad blocker for Android devices. There's only one version of the app, and it's free. We released it at the end of December and are looking for feedback and help in making AdClear the best it can be.
Features:
Blocks encrypted ads
Works with Wi-Fi and cell data
Blocks ads in apps
Selective app filtering
Support for multiple browsers
Non-root
Log of blocked ads
Saves bandwidth and battery
Increases loading speeds online
How Does It Work?
AdClear is non-root, but it works on rooted phones just the same. AdClear creates a VPN on your device to filter out ad traffic before it reaches you on the web or in apps. The SSL certificate gets in the way of encrypted ads and filters them in the same way. This means the ad blocker can run in the background while you browse in whatever browser or app you want to use.
Who Are We?
SEVEN Networks actually has a pretty storied history on the mobile market--just in the background. We became pioneers in mobile messaging by inventing push-notified e-mail in the early '00s. We sold this feature to carriers and companies like Blackberry to put on their phones. In the same vein, we deployed e-mail to more than 550 devices in a time when OS platforms varied from phone to phone. As Android and iOS became the two primary platforms, we switched gears by creating Open Channel, which improved mobile network traffic by eliminating the need for constant syncing. We sold this technology to multiple carriers and even released a version on the Play store.
Recently, we've obviously taken sight of the developing market for ad blockers, and we realized we have some unique tools to bring to the table. Open Channel's fantastic resources gave us the ability to block encrypted ads and a huge data pool with which to build AdClear. We released AdClear on December 28, 2015, and we've been updating and upgrading it ever since.
"How Do You Make Money?"
The truth is, we don't right now. What we are doing is creating a source of analytics from our users in order to fix bugs and improve the app. This includes your device, android version, battery life, and app usage. You are assigned a UUID that completely separates you from your device and data, and there is no feasible way for us to personally identify you. If you'd like, uninstalling and reinstalling the app will give you a completely new UUID that cannot be connected to the previous one. We only use this to rapidly analyze and change our product.
In the future we may sell anonymized data to carriers, but that's one idea of many. That's part of what we want to know from you. This is a unique business plan for the ad blocking market. Would you be more inclined toward an acceptable ads or freemium model (premium being opting out of analytics)? Our main priority is to provide a high quality experience based on user suggestions to YOU at a high development pace. After a post we made on reddit got a bit of traction, we added a log, selectable app filter, and on/off switch based off of suggestions within the next few days. We want to get that type of feedback, that help, from XDA, and we're excited about the DEVDB platform. We've included the feature request and bug report sections and we hope that they are used! Either way, we're excited to have address these things with you in the comments.

Ok, I have installed and uninstalled this three times. Each time, I get that it is installed properly. But, I keep getting a triangle warning in my status bar that says "network may be monitored by an unknown third party" . I have checked the ok to have it as a trusted credential. But, I don't think it is showing up in the trusted credentials in my security setting.
I don't see the C O credential. Why is it not installing the credentials? The ad blocking does seem to be working.
I am rooted, with Verizon's xt1254 phone using resurrection remix rom right now.
I also use the "mother of all adblocking" script (right word?).

The credential should be in the user tab under your security credentials. The third party notification is something we can't fix unfortunately. I believe it has something to do with the VPN being on. As far as your ROM, we have no real testing done on how we work with ROMs, so that may be an issue. That's something we want to have enough info on in the future to address. Please let us know to what extent the app is working and we'll see what we can do.

On screen off, vpn disconnects and doesn't reconnect on screen on. Adguard works fine though.
I have this on my Huawei P8 and I also get the occasional notification that vpn disconnected when screen is off. No mention of reconnecting but ads are still being blocked after this happened so I guess it's still working.
Is this apps work like adaway?

Hello, thanks for installing.
The notification is, at this time, normal because of the way Android handles the certs. It can be removed with root optionally but we can not do it on our end.

Thanks for the feedback,
I am very interested in this and have not seen this behavior before. We have attempted to replicate the issue but are unable. We currently do not have a Huawei P8 to test on but any more info on the phone would be greatly appreciated as well as steps to replicate. Replying with Android version, phone model, network you used (wifi or 4g, etc.) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the question,
If by like AdAway you mean both block ads then yes we are similar.
Where we differ is we do not require root to block the ads. This means we can not modify host files like AdAway does. Instead we block with and on-device VPN than filters all traffic through it and removes the ads before they are in your apps and browsers.

EDIT: seems my colleague got to it first!
There's no steps to replicate. I installed the app through Amazone app store.
I just put the phone down and after some time I notice a notification which states that vpn is disconnected. I can see this notification on my laptop as I have Airdroid installed which mirrors all android notifications to the laptop. So far all notifications came in while on home wifi.
Huawei P8 GRA-L09 android 5.0.1 on wifi. Haven't seen it happen yet while using 4g.
Vpn disconnects with screen off. And I meant adguard which uses the same vpn principle as adclear but their vpn doesn't keep shutting down. Which is why I've reverted to using it instead of adclear.

That's unfortunate. Could you give us your os version?
One thing you can try is to uninstall adclear and delete the certificate (if you installed it), then reboot and install again. I'm not sure if you tried to install multiple times, but that sometimes causes issues with the VPN.
Edit: Also, did this happen on wifi or lte/4g?
