Just bought an HTC HD2 and wondering what older systems I can emulate on it, thinking like the SNES, C64, Spectrum and Mega Drive??
Are emulators available?

Not really, could find a lot for older WM 2003 but not a lot for specifically newer version of WM,
How about fpsece, amazing PSX emulator? http://fpsece.net
http://forum.brighthand.com/games-w...nesis-megadrive-emulation-windows-mobile.html
check this out.
you might be lucky; I tried both picodrive & genesis plus and both crash on opening a ROM. Don't seem to be able to find out how to fix this either, which is gutting, as having a mega drive & snes on the phone would make up for the complete lack of quality games on windows mobile.
Hi
So which are best known to be working with the htc hd2?
Can you reccomend any? and why these are the best use?
Many thanks.
games
You can find the playstation emulator and some games at
www.krenisiswinmobilegamesapps.com
supposedly picodrive is the best and seemingly both should work on HD & HD2. maybe it's a free memory issue with the HD running the latest energy ROM, but when you compare to the specs of the original console there's no comparison - HD blows it away. I've heard people running picodrive fine on the HD2 so give it a go
MorphGear is your solution for the older systems. This MorphGear thread is about using MorphGear on the HD2 with multitouch. It works great on my TMOUS HD2.
For Playstation PSX/PSOne, FPSECE is absolutely amazing.
Morphgear is very good. My amiga, amstrad etc emulators that I have on my orbit2 do not work on my hd2. The spectrum (pocketclive)does but does not fill the hd2 screen.
fpsece!!!!!!!!!
the best emulator for htc hd2,you need donate to get support version but trust me ist worth.
im currently play gran turismo, destruction derby 2 ,destruction raw, colin McRAE 2,and amazing nascar 2004.
im tested over 100 games!! over half works

HI @ all...
my iphone is dead
now i have an HD2 yeha
The iphone was a good game Maschine - so i search 4 good games
First i search a game like PapiJump for the HD2 has anyone ideas???
THX for Answers... cu
If you still have some old PSX cd's, i would strongly suggest you get fpseCE (the upcomming 0.10 version) since that emulates psx, and with decent framerate too! (and well, with 0.10 you can use the HD2's multitouch and g-sensor, the currentlly available version 0.96 isnt very playable on a HD2)
Besides that, just look around a bit for windows mobile games, i can tell you that all 3d games i tried so far (maybe 8, not counting psx games in emu ofc) run great, so just look around a bit, nfsu and other common games all seem to work, though i would suggest you look for a trail of a game before you buy it, after all its a new device, lots of developers dont have (access to) it yet.
Im ashamed to say (since personally im not a apple fan, at all) that the iphone beats windows mobile out of the ballpark when it comes to the amount of available games and apps, given, windows mobile has been around alot longer, but apparently the iphone is **** easy to develop for.
The HD2 (and all other wm 6.5 devices) has a windows marketplace now, there you can easylly buy apps and games, but theres not alot to choose from atm, this will change in the future (when all windows mobile developers update their apps to 6.5)

Hi everyone,
Just wondered whether it would be possible to adapt Final Burn (WM version) for the HD2 in much the same way as Morphgear has recently been ported?
I've found and got ver 0.014 (which seems to be the last WM version published) running on mine but can't seem to set it to display in landscape mode, nor are there any on-screen buttons, so apart from watching my phone run CPS2 games nicely there's not much point!
I'm a complete noob when it comes to this sort of thing as the HD2 is my first WM device so I suppose all I'm asking is if it's possible to make it into a useable program and if so I'll gladly donate to anyone willing to develop it!
Cheers guys!
Just found this video of someone running Final Burn with a BGP gamepad on HD2 (go to 9:22 in the vid) and was hoping someone might know how it's been done?
It looks like he uses WVGAFix in order to run it in landscape but I can't seem to get it to work? I've currently got WVGAFix4.
Any ideas? I'm still hoping some kind soul will develop a WVGA version of Final Burn, I've even tracked down some source code from a guy that ported it to a Linux mobile (file attached) if anyone is up for the challenge?!
He use FPSece to emulate games from PsOne.

No he's using FPSece to being with but at the end of the video (9:22) it's Final Burn, you can tell by the UI and because the screen flashes green before the ROM loads.
what are the improvements of using Final Burn ?

It's really just the selection of games that aren't available on something similar such as FPSece for example, like Street Fighter 3 or Alien Vs Predator. I think considering the HD2 is more than capable of running Final Burn it's a shame it's not fully supported.
Final Burn 0.014 version works fine on HTC HD 2 ....... just have a bluetooth gamepad for the controls and WVGAfix4 for display .....

you should try the ps1 version of Street Fighter Alpha 3, also Castlevania ... i did used to play alot of games with finalburn on my old TP1 but it does not compare to fpsece in my opinion
I just got the phone yesterday, so I'm wondering, what emulators will work on it? I'm mostly interested in M.A.M.E.
Hermes is quite an old phone with limited ram, so although some emulators will run they wont run well.
I tried MAME, didn't worked so well, about 20fps, but it's playable. Where can I find NES and SNES?
Hey,
Before I get started, I just want to stop all flamers - I have searched and I couldn't find anything for this specific phone.
The specs for the nintendo 64 is a 93.75mhz processor and a 62.5mhz GPU -and people who like to call themselves "educated" in this area say that you need 10x the power to emulate something - and I reckon the HD2 has the power to do it. What do you think?
I think it would be great if this was possible, and just like the fpsece - people would donate to have this ability as we all love the goldeneye on the n64, and to be able to play that on the go would be amazing.
Thanks,

OMG good idea zelda - Ocarina of time all over again..
Love the idea and hope there is a supreme programmer around who loves the idea too..
re
it is a really nice idea, but after all a dream i guess...
remember there where some N64 emulators out, but most of them took years until the could
emulate the standard games like mario kart, mario 64 and some others, there are still many games wich dont run on the emus. The next Problem is the controller...
Perfect 64 is a great N64 emu for PCs, so it has been done well already on other platforms...
I'm going to bump this thread up a bit so it gets some attention. I would also love a n64 emulator for the htc hd2! Would be so awesome to play zelda on my phone! And I agree , I and many others would donate for such a thing.
I know some people have been working on an emulator for the iphone and this phone is much more powerful than the iphone.
You read my mind... N64 on this phone would look awesome!!! we got some genius developers out there. crossing my fingers and praying they listen...
I'd happily part cash for it!
And a FinalBurn emulator, damn my lack of programming knowledge! Where does one begin to learn such technical wizardry?!
Even if we have an emulator for N64, it will be very difficult to play games due to too many buttons for control in N64. And HD2 is not really multitouch, am I right?

Um no you are wrong . Hd2 got multitouch. And a nice button layout combined with the big screen would make it possible to play games pretty good. Atleast slow-paced games would be possible to play without much problem.
Goldeneye oder Perfect Dark on the HD2 would be magnificent!!!
the source code for project 64 is available,
http://www.pj64-emu.com/downloads/
so in theory it is possible.
Ye there are also other open-source n64 emulators out there.
Like:
1964: 1964emu.emulation64.com
Another emulator for the PC
Daedalus: sourceforge.net/projects/daedalus-n64/
Which was the first emulator to emulate n64 on the psp.
DaedalusX64: sourceforge.net/projects/daedalusx64/
Which is a continuation of the original daedalus on the psp. This is the one that currently is the best for n64 emulation on psp.
And all these are open-source. So it should be very possible, I think, to use one of these codes to write an emulator for the HTC HD2. Don't shoot me down now if I'm wrong, I'm just a noob when it comes to programing.
I wish I myself could help getting a project like this started but I know nothing about programing.
What we need are some good and dedicated programmers willing to give this a go.

I think Im not.
Multitouch on HD2 is not like iphone. HD2 only support multitouch for a couple of programs. It will be really difficult to build a n64 emulator, for action games like Zelda play smoothly with multitouch. I completed Zelda by Project64 on PC before.
Did u try emulator like Morphgear, or FpseCE? I had the supporter version of these two, multitouch really does not working so well, still some bugs and problems
No I haven't tried those emulators yet. But even though the multitouch isn't perfect it's playable, from what I understand, and they are both works in progress aren't they? You can at least play it fine if you use a bluethooth controller.
And I can't say anything about how difficult it is to build a program that supports multitouch , since I know nothing about it, but didn't the multitouch version of these emulators come out rather quickly after the hd2 was released? At least it isn't impossible to build a emulator with decent multitouch support.
We just need to get the ball rolling!

Multitouch works very well on both FPSECE and MorphGear. The only reason it isn't very good on MorphGear from the beginning, is because the standard pad sucks HD2 has a capacitive screen, and therefore it is able to use multitouch just like any other multitouch phone (iphone etc), it just requires the programmer to write the program with multitouch support, by using the code from HTC
And a N64 emulator would be awesome
What about games like Ogre Battle though? Underlying point being there are still some worthwhile games that will work well despite the lack of hardware controls and/or multitouch support...
I was searching for this!
I love the idea and would pay (just i have for FpseCE) to get this, i would love zelda on my phone
Seriosly, this is the idea of the century!
Maybe not, but it is a very good idea i would sertainly donate to whomever creates this very much appreciated emulation program!
And as someone else sad before me the multitouch works well if you just put some effort into it and program it right, i have Supporter Version of FpseCE and multitouch works well there!
fantasytozi: *Flame, flame you* Multitouch works perfectly inf FPSEce. ONly thing holding back is y-alignement problem. But multitouch works great.
All: This wont really happen. Who would start work that would take years to program on dying OS? IF there will be some emulators in future, it will be for WP7 (as emulators are best with strong HW and strong HW devices will come only for WP7. So add two years (if there is genius team of programmers) to WP7 release and you have date where first emulator could exist =)

Easy man, that post was when I hadnt tried ur optimized package yet
But honestly, it's been a long time I havent played fpsece. It's great for like rpg games, some action games. But, for action games when u have to hold and charge like Megaman, it's really difficult
Hello to all!
I can see that nobody talk aout this.
Can you suggest some emulators for old consoles wich best suits this device?
I'm using some from android market but those do not have option to save game. That's bad, realy bad. You have to buy full version I guess to have that option.
All in all any sugesstion can help.
Oh, I tried to use snesoid, gamebod, gensoid... but they doesn' work. I'm found them on internet. they work great on my wildfire s but here is no go...
Boysi, a little bit off-topic, but do you think the Status' screen size is good enough to play PlayStation games using the PS Emulator (which has been banned from the market)?
For sega genesis, snes and game boy advance is big enough. I will try psx and than I can tell you.
btw Newer versions of Gameboid, Snesoid, Gensoid... are work great on this phone.

The one that was banned was pretty crap, but FPse is on there and going strong. Works wonders on my Desire, will try it on the girlfriend's ChaCha over the weekend.

got gameboid on my brothers cha cha and it doesnt work, such a shame! I've tried so many emulators on this model but none properly work! why is this?!
I'm using John NES Lite though and I am quite happy with it. I have Super Mario (old time classics, eh) only.
Gameboid, Gensoid, Snesoid, Nesoid... All works for me. Just try to find some new version. For Gameboid you need gba bios file. Just google it. You'll find it, I'm sure.
have you already tried fpse on chacha what is your review

Yeah, I would like to know that too! I am planning to buy it for my sister. who has no interest in Emulators, but still I want to know!
ScummVM and DosBox

Apart from those emulators ScummVM works extremely well on my ChaCha. It sometimes takes me a blank screen when start-ups (only if RAM is low / very low!) but no game crashes whatsoever so far once loaded and I have tried the following games on it successfully:
Day of the Tentacle (CD version)
Beneath a steel Sky (CD version)
Sam and Max Hit the Road (CD version)
You may have to install plugins available on the playstore for some of the games to be supported!
Also try DosBox for older DOS games...still haven't used DosBox extensively yet to fully confirm how well it works for the ChaCha nut with my experience so far it works well (only a week or so trying it out)
