Htcclay's FastClean v1.1 - G1 Android Development

I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR WHAT HAPPENS UPON YOUR DECISION TO DOWNLOAD/USE THIS ROM IN ANYWAY, IM MERELY PROVIDING A LINK FROM A GREAT DEVELOPER TO A GREAT ROM.
Pretty much lightning in a phone, try it out.

If there's a problem clay, let me know and ill take it down. otherwise, enjoy people...its a great all around 1.6 rom.

any specs? maybe a link to the original post or copy and paste what's in this rom?

he didnt make the ROM Clay did, i dunno he dont usually post his ROMs here

any idea what theme i can use. this one did came theme like FastTest2.3

Voice fixed on outgoing calls?
I *loved* Fasttest v2.3.....but then I phoned my wife and she could barely hear me talking.....which I read was a known issue. Looked like it was an old bug that came back.
I hate that.
I'll load the next version that works properly as a phone.
Is this it?

i understand that, but he must have gotten it from somewhere, i assume that it had some sort of spec sheet that came with it.

i'm having that bug with super d as well, which rom are you using that fixes it?

been running this for half a day now. Performed several benchmark tests and compared the results with other builds. It topped the others, lightning in a phone indeed.
PS, clay usually post his releases on twitter, not on forums

@ linuxluver
I had the issue with both fast test and super d. The fix on fasttest and super d thread is easy and works very well on both rom (and it's originally a fix for a cyan release).

FastCleanD.zip a bad file?
2010-02-13 17:26 NZDT - UPDATE: The problem is the browser I'm using. I switched from the public Beta version of 64-bit Chrome (Google colours icon) for Linux because it was too slow when several tabs were loaded.
Instead, I started using the latest daily dev builds of 64-bit Chromium (blue icon - and MUCH FASTER!!!) which I download as they are released. Well.....the latest one appears to corrupt *.zip files when you download them. I re-downloaded the FastCleanD.zip file from AndroidSpin using Firefox and it came down just fine.
Not corrupt.
I'll leave the symptoms of the problem below as a record of what you see.
*************************************************************************************************
This zip file is broken. I've downloaded it twice. Attempting to install with Amon-RA's v.1.5.2G recovery produces
Can't open /sdcard/FastCleanD.zip
(bad)
Intallation aborted
The same thing is happening with Eugene373's AOSP v2.5 from 4Shared....but any previous ROMs install fine. Hmmmm.
UPDATE: It's not my imagination. The FastCleanD on androidspin is corrupt. I've downloaded it several times now and each time I get the same errors. This file is broken....and so is the FastTest v2.3 zip file.
When I try to open the zip file, I get:
Archive: /home/steve/Downloads/FastCleanD.zip
Zip file size: 48489616 bytes, number of entries: 416
error [/home/steve/Downloads/FastCleanD.zip]: missing 3877 bytes in zipfile

It's not bad and does run fast, seems to have the 10mb mem hack and swap turned on. Turned swap off and runs a bit fasterbetween switching apps but that is expected.

Its not swap, its compcache that comes pre-enabled. Just happens to be 32meg

Yea, he usually releases them in twitter and he even says himself that hes slackin on a official page and changelog and all of that. One will probably be up soon so im not stressin it. Thats odd, i didnt have that problem on FastTest or Super D. This build, Super D and FastTest 2.3 all ran fine for me with no problems. I was under the impression also that compcache and swap were turned off by default? I have neither a ext partition or a swap partition on my sdcard, just straight fat32 for me and the phone runs like lightning for me.

So i found out why im not having the voice volume problems, it seems to only be happening on MT3G's not G1's.
Here's the fix.

actually I am using the FastClean ROM, and that is amazing, there is no isse with the phone with this build everything so far is excellent. Ya know how flick you finger to scroll up and down a menu, most ROMs are little jerky, they dont just flow from top to bottom, they kinda stop somewhere in the midee. NOT the case with this ROM, i scroll thru my Contacts with 1 flick it ever so smoothly glides thru all of them, never seeen anything so smooth. Its nice!

Great rom. Very fast. Any suggestions on a good email app since there is not one provided on this rom. Tried to push it with root explore, but that didn't work. Thanks

i have small troubles with Wi-Fi but possible from my Device.Still testing.
Good work
Greetings
on RUS forums people have small problems with long connection WiFi time...
do you have also this issue?
i have ran into no wifi issues or any other issues, this rom allowed me to customize more because of all the wonderful extra space great job my uni is running like a lightning bolt!
new rom
i reinstalled just to be sure about this WI FI issue, and have it as you say - long time connecting (sometime not connecting at all). then i try some other rom and WIFI its working fine on my Device ,so the issue must be in the rom.
Otherwise - really great.

I'm amazed by the memory screenshot... that's a lot of storage memory more than conventional ROMs... but I'm a bit worried about the program's RAM, on a 64Mb device it would be only around 20Mb or less just after boot... am I right?

Apps on SDcard RC8

Hi,
I hope i am not repeating anything here, i have tried searching.
I am from the Uk and have a jf for RC8. What i want to do it use the 'Apps for SD card' mod, but all the tutorials say to use RC33 and the latest radio. Am i right in thinking the the mod wont work with the RC8?
if so why. What is the big difference in the RC8 that wont make it work. same with the themes, i keep seeing RC33 only and only have found 2 that say RC8.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
Chris
ps. also is there a wiki or something explaining all these sorts of thing in detail?
*bump* *bump*
anyone? a simple no cos.. or yes but would do.
Chris
Hi,
I don't think the radio update applies to the Uk version.
So no need to worry about it.
As far as the process goes there is a excellent post here that I followed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=468959
This really should be a sticky.
Here a few screen captures that I made just in case I had to do it again.
I used adb to do the whole process.

Hi,
If your phone is rooted I don't see why it wouldn't work.
Do you have your ext2 partition setup on your sd card?
Do you have adb running from your computer?
I use jf 1.41 rc33
Maybe wait for a reply from a uk user or someone more experienced with linux.

Yes, I have a rooted phone with an 1gb ext2 partition and 7gb Fat32.
I think I'll wait a bit longer before experimenting with this without knowing the concequences if it doesn't work. Using RC33 atm, so I will survive for know.
Hi,
I have managed to do this with my jf RC8. I followed the instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=468959
but used the part which doesnt use the usb to pc cable. i dint want to mess around with adb (also i am quite familiar with the Linux console).
it went fine (apart from my sd card not formatting properly. i used my camera to format it then used gparted in linux to setup all the partitions) after that it worked fine. I now have 54mb free on my phone memory.
I have only noticed a very tiny lag when first opening an app, like less that half a second, but this is well worth it as now i can have all the app i want without that 'out of space' notification every 3 days.
Thanx to bestwebs for the link!
Chris
Hi,
Glad it worked.
Yes, the lag is very minor.
I have been using that procedure for my phone for 2 weeks now.
It's good that you verified it to work on rc8.
I like to use adb because you can type all the commands from your computer instead of from terminal emulator.
Right now , I have 47 apps installed and 66 megs free phone memory.
My sd card shows with busybox, 55 megs used from my ext2 partition.
That post is really amazing.
Enjoy.

PDF Reader?
Interesting, there seems to be a PDF reader in there, and an FTP client. Did you install these on your phone, or were they supplied with it? It'd certainly be nice to have pdf capability in the new cupcake update for the G1...
We may get a taste of cupcake early depending on what JF does with this.
NOTE:I'm tired as crap cause I stayed up for 48 hours but I'm so happy cause of this. Excuse my errors.
I'm gonna be the risk taker here and try to apply this on a G1. I should be able to use my backup from nandroid if anything happens. So all this is the system "partion" as fastboot seems to describe it as? So basicly I have to mount system via recovery and replace it?

Could you just copy say, the PDFReader.apk onto your sdcard and install it from there? Or drop the apk into an update.zip?
I tried to install the PDFreader but it fails due to missing libraries. How do I load this firmware into the emulator so I can mess arround with that one instead?

Yeah, to be more precise it's missing all the HTC framework stuff. Doubt you would get away with just adding that stuff to your install:

hmm, i tried copying the frameworks into system/framework and then installing the .apk file, but that didn't seem to work. Do additional frameworks need to be registered, i wonder?

Yup. See the bottom of /system/etc/permissions.xml
Thing is, I wouldn't be surprised if the android build this thing expects is newer than your current one, with assorted changes in the API, and if the HTC framework stuff depends on more HTC stuff lower down the stack (I notice there's a "libhtc_ril.so" for instance in /system/lib - not looked into what exactly it contains tho).
As a result it'll probably take a bit more than just dropping things into your current installation. That said, I'd love to play around a bit more if I weren't at work
Stop update your phone using these file. These file is made for Magic, not Dream. It has driver file for Magic, not Dream. Wait for JF and stop doing stupid things.

JellyBean is very big, therefore ext partition on SD card is required - part of the system and most of the gapps is installed there.
You can find instructions on how to resize fat and create ext partition directly in OpenRecovery in this very fine guide by pontomedon:
Full guide from stock Motorola Android to CyanogenMod 7 for Milestone
Please use 2ndboot based OpenRecovery for installation to avoid sdcard write errors.
The CM10 builds are using 2ndboot to run custom kernel.
Thanks to Skrilax_CZ, the issue of low performance before the first device suspend has been resolved (L2 cache remained disabled before).
The bad GPU performance on CPU clock bellow 600MHz is currently successfully worked around by temporary insmod of older pvr driver
during boot, so it's not an issue anymore (from the user perspective) has been properly fixed by Skrilax_CZ.
Wifi tethering should work since 20121028 nightly.
Other known issues:
- video recording is not working very well currently
HW acceleration increases the application's RAM demands. You can use the included HWA Settings app to disable it per app.
Remember that JellyBean is designed for devices with much bigger RAM than Milestone has. Don't expect miracles .
It really deserved a thread.
You made an incredible job, sir!
JB on the old Milestone, and it is usable as a daily driver. :good:

Which rom you used previously?
In case you upgraded from any different from CM10, you should make a full wipe. (data,cache,dalvik-cache)
Do you have ext partition on your sd card? It is necessary to use this rom.

What trouble? That is usally a straitforward process, especially with the modern GUI tools.
And how it's working? Any errors that would make it unsuable as a daily rom?

Do you have both swap and compcache activated at the same time?

No - just swap
64MB partition, mounted with Swapper2, swappiness default (10, iirc)
Super laggy for me, even after deep sleep :/ Excellent work though!
Its been great so far, this rom works like a charm, pitty it doent show all internal ram available with 1GB extra on the SDCard.
Attention everyone!
As you may know or not know, Skrillax_CZ has found out what caused the lag before the first deep sleep.
The latest nightly (10.18) already contains the fix, so i suggest everyone to upgrade.
Works like charm for me, no lag even after the first boot.
Work perfectly!!!
Just to confirm that, the ver 18/10 works so well on my milestone without any errors... What I have done for my phone is as follow:
- Flash back to stock ROM 2.1.1
- Completely format the SD card
- Use the 2nd boot OP to root the phone
- Partition the SD card again
- Flash directly from 2.1.1 to CM10 ver 17/10, and then 18/10...
Work perfectly even with big app like Chrome, G+, Google now, etc...
Here are some screenshots... Again, credit gives to kabaldan. Million thanks to him for great effort for our milestone community...:good:

Misc. Notes
This is MDPI based, and I followed procedure properly so everything should work here, but if anything is broken please let me know.
Also take note that DL'd themes do not work unless modified for MDPI use
Important
On first boot things may look garbled, after a reboot everything should be fine.
There may appear to be errors on install but everything should straighten out after a reboot.
What is the best gapps to use with this ROM and where can I get them from?
looks like gapps are packed with the rom so dont flash any separately
Everything is working as intended?
As of right now I am getting stuck on the green mytouch screen. The checksum of my downloads are correct. I know the problem isn't the kernal as I have used it before.
This has enough DLs for me to ask If your bootloop problem is isolated or not, is anyone else experiencing this?
wont install on a g1, tried two downloads (md5 for both 5F48EAFF996F2FA6BC7CC1F9195F7AA4) if you want to confirm
i dont have time to trouble shoot right now but at first the error appears to be missing a ringtone (romancingTheTone.ogg) and install is aborted, havent tried to adding it to test but someone else did (has only a couple of posts so he pm'd me as he cant post in this thread) and said the same. he tried replacing the file and then got another error that wouldnt let him flash, certinstaller error i think, but dont know why that would cause it not to instal. ill test tomorrow when i have more free time just giving you a heads up
Would that work on 32A devices with old radio?
This is my first time doing an MDPI MIUI port, It's strange for it to not work but I will compile a new build soonish
Ok, Uploaded RC2 and stripped the rom of potential breaks, so here goes folks!
anyone actually tested this?

The first was non-functioning due to services and Framework, the second should probably work fine but If not I'll have to go the diffing route.
Either way I can for sure get this to be functional but I need feedback :s
Second Copy is smashed as well, It looks like I'm going to have to mess with code I'll have a new and hopefully proper build this time!
I hope you get this fixed! I love MIUI!
Just one thought; check system parition size, it may need to be bigger as MIUI is fairly big rom

Okay my G1 stay alone without work and I preform test of yours rom. But my feedback is negative.
1. You have missing ogg melody and instillation was aborted because zip dont match with signature. I was able to install when disable signature verification. Thansk frankey
2. The rom dont boot. I try with RA/CWM recovery result was same. Are you sure this rom dont have need from custom MTD ??? My Logcat
From that logcat, audioflinger is dying. It isn't opening the files /system/etc/AudioPara_TMA.csv and /system/etc/AudioPara4.csv
Check to see if those are there. If not, get them then try.
Also, second post of my roms thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31653323. If you use stuff I compiled, it states that you should at least send me a pm about using my work.
And the name is tvall. that's a lowercase "t".
Edit: still haven't downloaded yet. Just looking at file size, looks almost certainly like its too large for stock partition sizes. Try slimming it up, or moving some apps to /data, or just using custom mtd
i flashed it thru RA but it wont flash
just downloaded and looked. this rom is ~140mb. the /system partition on the g1 is 90mb. see the problem? trying to slim it up. got it down to 120mb by removing livewalpapers and apps that we are not allowed to distribute (including gapps isnt allowed). still have to free up ~30mb for this to be even usable. youll probably just have to use custom mtd.
edit:
have not tested this. /system size is 88mb, so no gapps yet. http://www.mediafire.com/?i3bsba3sgbf4e49. it may or may not boot. i have not tested. i just fixed the first obvious major issue with this rom, thats all.

Including gapps isn't allowed? Since when I use miui with them merged into the ROM
Take custom mtd up to 120 and then delete anything else we really don't need? Slim down ring tones to maybe 3 or 4
Good luck dude!
