For the last week, I haven't had any luck finding answers to this stuff.
First order of business:
NetFront Browser is, in my opinion, the only mobile browser; so I'm cooking it into the ROM. But, I want the IE hotkey to open it - I can't find the reg entry, anywhere. Is it part of a library?
Second order:
Generally, how do I add new regs in SuperJust?
Show me a screenshot of what hotkey you're talking about?
Sorry what I meant by hotkey is the [alt]+[right arrow] command which opens IE by default.
But I found a shortcut (by accident!) ---
You can edit "\Windows\short_ie.lnk" to any location, using SPB Plus or Total Commander.
However, I can't find this link file in any of the Kitchen directories to have it readied to the ROM... and I'm still unclear on how to add the new registry entries I have that will bypass the SPB Shell & Netfront activations.
Oh, for educational purposes of course
Look at Ivans Justhome files in the kitchen i believe he has edited a hotkey in his reg. Not 100% sure though.

I know you can get them from other places either in CAB or in OEM Packages. However, it's just too difficult to get them all together.
So I present you some of the OEM packages which I collected, extracted or created for use in my ROM.
1. The first one is taken from Schaps' ROM. It's a 3G-Battery with Indicator. I didn't ask Schaps' permission for this. I hope he's cool with it.
2. O2 Backup is taken from O2 Life and has been fixed to work on all devices. It allows you to backup PIM & My Documents data
3. O2 SMS Plus v1.6 is also taken from O2 Life. It's sorta like SMS Threaded applications. It also allows you to send/receive vCard from other dumb phones. It also support group SMS & Scheduled SMS
4. HTC Album v1.1030.720. Taken from a CAB file with fixed English Interface (Originally Chinese). You can choose which Folder to browse.
Here are another 4 Packages:
1. Newer version of HTC Home v2.1.105.722
2. Adobe Flash Lite v2.1 with the Cool HTC Animation from Schaps
3. Schaps' Advance Configuration v1.1
4. Palm Threaded SMS with fixed database folder. Instead of in Windows Directory, I patched the database to be stored on 'My Documents' folder for easy backup. You need to rename your backup SMS data from 'PalmMsgv001' to 'Palm01' and copy it to 'My Documents' folder.
Another 4 Packages
1. KeepAlive is a very old freeware from WinCE days. It prevents your PPC from turning Off. It's very usefull when you need to let you device on all the time.
2. PowerOff is another old freeware from Scott Seligman. It just shows a tiny PowerOff buttons at the Today Screen.
3. O2 Smart Text is also taken from O2 Life. It's just another thumb inputs with T9 capability. Good for One-Handed Operation
4. Picsel PDF Viewer. Taken from PPCGeeks. A superb PDF viewer compared to Adobe offering.
I downloaded all but I couldn't install even a single one.
These are not cab files nor installation .exe files nor a folder placed in the machine to run off with.
What are they? If these are for ROM cooking only then they are outside what most of us want to deal with.
These are OEM packages for ROM cooking and since this is the upgrading forum its the right place for things like this to be posted (IMO).
I personally wouldn't mind a separate forum for cooking, as some of the questions here are rather 'off topic' from ROM upgrading (flashing) or cooking, since installing an application is not an UPGRADE in any sense of the word...
Until then, it seems like this is the right place for this...
Thanks for your contributions [email protected]...
wow...a package for palmsms...hopefully it works.
Thanks for the packages! Am sure some cookers will find these handy!
how to benefit from thsoe if you are not a cook?
Hello,
a lot of thsoe packages look really useful, but, noby uses them so far in the offical release ROMs.
Cooking your ownROM still sounds intimidaing to me (and mybe others), so is there an easy to get thsoe as cab files, or is it posible to cook a delta ROM just adding those pakcages to one of the release ROMS?
Thanks
Juju
As requested by you here or via PM. Here are the CAB files for the OEM packages.
The 3G Battery Level will replace a system file. So you need to install Certificate CAB to allow the installation.
For Keep Alive, PowerOff, Advance Configuration, just copy the execute file to your Kaiser. No installation is needed.
HTC Home & Album CABs are widely available so I won't post them again. To change the HTC Album to English menu (from Chinese) you need to copy the 'RFileShell.dll' from Resco Explorer english Version.
Enjoy!
There is another nice application called O2 Theme which works well with kaiser. This is the WM6 version of O2 Plus. To learn about this, you can go to this thread I posted in Athena board:

Cheers!

Hi,
the M8 is standard Software input panel (hereinafter SIP) modules, that's means if applications that follow the windows mobile design guide, it will work properly with different sized SIP.
your idea will be take in to account and thanks for your supports.

Subject: M8 help hint
hello developers
your product M8 is very good!
one more idea, to improve usability:
make an option to let keyboard appear from top of screen, till the middle.
the reason is: some applications have text input field at the bottom, but doesn't recognize keyboard allocated this place. and doesn't redraw it's input field higher (on the top of new appeared keyboard), so application text input field becoming invisible until the end of input.
another solution on same problem:
make your keyboard application it's own temporary input window on top of keyboard.
(it may optionally include increased font size for better visibility on street)
will be waiting for your reply, and a new version
thanks
now, let's wait for new release of it (under name of O2 or standalone M8)

I guess this is somewhat helpful because it's easier to back up the My Documents folder than find PalmMsgv001 in \Windows and back that up.
However, I hardly ever put anything into \My Documents because of the chance of forgetting about backing it up before flashing a new ROM. Hopefully someday we'll see a Threaded Messaging app that has more options - like save folder, and font size (the font is so tiny!). That's why I liked TxtMan - but it crashes too often, and isn't completely integrated into the Windows messaging system.
if someone could fix palm to work on the kaiser thatd be fabalous.. i know im jumping off topic but im willing to offer up $25.00!
here is the O2plus 2.3 cab , working on touchpro
Hello
I have a few questions about cooking WM6 ROM.
Could anybody help me?
1. How to make my own menu start structure?
2. How set my own ring tones to notifications?
3. How to make HTC Home pack with covered contacts, music and profiles tabs?
I know these have been covered elsewhere, but maybe not explicitly and in one place - so:
1) In an Initflashes file, you'll have to tell it to move a shortcut into the \Windows\Start Menu\ folder, or the \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\ folder - depending where you want the link to show under the Start menu.
2) Change your ringtone/notifications to the one you want, then look through your registry for it - you might want to look around the HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds and HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications keys. Once you've seen how you want them set up, make (or edit an existing) .rgu to include these changes.
3) Have a look in Alex's excellent kitchen at the existing HTC Home modification packages. These should point you in the right direction for what files and settings to include (don't use HTC Home so can't help more on this).
If you don't know what I mean by any of the above, please do an awful lot more looking around the Wiki and related threads as starting threads around here when the information is here for the finding is a quick method for lots of flaming and not much help (friendly advice - not a threat!)
Good luck.
Thanks for answer.
1) This it’s clear for me. But I don’t know hove to change place of existing shortcut like: Mobile Office, search, Note, etc.
2) I will try this way.
3) I don’t know why, but Alex's HOME packages don’t work correctly on my Polish rom. Can’t use weather and launcher tabs.
4) I had make my own HOME packages based on previous version. In this version I don’t have tabs with settings.

While most shortcuts are set by initflashes files, the ones for those in the ROM are often set by .provxml files. In the case of Office, this is in mxipupdate_office_100.provxml which is in the SYS/Office folder in the kitchen. I just use Notepad to edit it.
Sorry I can't help with the HTCHome bits - just takes up too much space on my Today screen for my liking.
Can someone here tell me how to edit my registry without a downloaded registry editor? Before you reply about just downloading one i want to know what microsoft uses to edit the registry kinda like regedit in windows! I have read here and you have a lot of useful info! So i kinda figured i would ask some of you guys. Thanks in advance! I am sorry i meant to put i have a HTC touch pro running windows mobile 6.1!!!
there is no build in regeditor in wm
but you can write reg commands in a console of
cause you have to download a console program to fire
them but when you do you can just write the same commands
as stated in the .reg file
Any idea what microsoft uses? Do their techs have to install a third party app? If so i would like to know what one they use! It seems silly not to be able to edit the registry with the operating system!!???? Is windows mobile a client OS????? Maybe if i can find that .reg file i can maybe open it in word or something and edit it! But it just doesnt make any sense to me I have dealt with every os in the windows family besides these and for every one there was a way to edit this!
microsoft doesnt do most of their development on the phones themselves, they have direct access to registry through the builders and emulators. if you want to do registry edits on the phone itself, get a third party program. it wont kill you. i recommend total commander, its a full file browers thats less restrictive and can edit the registry, it has a text editor, ftp client, and can do windows sharing. it can apparently import .reg files but i havent figured that out yet.

Total Commander is an excellent app to add to your phone. Access the regedit part from Plugins/registry. Usual caveat, backup before making changes.
I'm running SPB Mobile Shell 3.5 on WM 6.1 (Tilt) and would like to be able to create shortcuts that I can add as page widgits that will allow me to open a webpage.
The idea being I don't have to open Opera and find a favorite. Rather I have an icon on my homepage that when clicked will take me to a predefined webpage.
I have a copy of Visual Basic 6 and was thinking I could create an executable that I could shortcut to. But I don't have a clue what to use as code.
Clearly I'm not a hardcore techie or developer so posting here. Thanks in advance for the help.
Hello all,
I hope I used the search function correctly, I could not find an answer to this one. If You have a link to an answer, please be so kind to point me out in that direction.
Each time I do a flash of a new ROM I go through the process of installing the mayor things I need. Although I know that Shashimi (if I write it correctly) will solve this issue, I am trying to get to smoothing the job of some standard actions I do for each ROM.
I install my Resco Explorer 2008 and edit the registry.
I know all the specific entries I need, some are new, some are value changes.
There is a possibility in Resco to import .reg files. I tried to create my own by taking a .reg file I downloaded from here, but Resco complained it not being in the right format.
Can somebody inform how the file should look.
Is there a difference between value changes for an existing entry or new entries. Is there a certain Header which should be available.
I am sure these questions are answered somewhere, but the Wiki and Search did not let me find an answer.
And yes, I will go to Shashimi sometimes, but am not ready yet.
Thanks all in advance,
Ruud
I used TaskMgr to export some registry keys and it looks exactly like this:
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\BTRouter]
"BTBaudrate"=dword:003d0900
"BTPortName"="COM7:"
Hope this helps
Hi ZaxXx,
exactly this format is what I see around here. But trying to import this through Resco Explorer 2008 does not work. Also simply clicking on the (text)-file with this format does not result in the registry being updated to the contents of the file.
How would You re-import these registry entries, other than by hand?
Edit :
OK, I just tried to import a file which was exported by TaskManager, this actually works.
But my files, which look the same to me are rejected. Time to start looking real careful, what the difference is.
Regards,
Ruud
OK solved it.
Or at least to some extend.
I can import the file through TaskManager and the file is accepted without mistakes. The entries do appear in the registry after that.
BUT, Resco Explorer 2008 still judges the file corrupt and does not want to import.
It will save a lot of time like this, so I am happy.
Thank You,
Ruud
Some more solutions;
Howdy all,
Yesterday I pointed someone to UC Capable ROM you're going to love UC, for sure! ;

I'm using PHM Registry Editor it allows me to do the following tasks:
Explore the registry to find the operating system and applications configuration,
modify system and applications tweeks not available from the standard options screens,
export all or parts of the registry to .reg files,
backup and restore the complete registry and
perform search on the registry data
Export a key, look into it with notepad (ASCII) editor, then you'll know its format
Some more recent findings you might want to take a look into you need them anyway when you're getting into UC;

This Rollup is an excellent overall HTC FAQ IMHO. It'll give you a very good overall impression of how to flash a ROM.
When you too are in cooking ROM's then this thread 'll interest you!
When you PgDn you'll see Extendir Cabs a very nice CAB utility;
