Removing stock SMS app/double notifcation? - Hero CDMA Themes and Apps

I just had to do a fresh reinstall when I lost my nandroid backup, previously I was running Obelisk MoDaCo 1.1 and now running MoDaCo's latest I have a problem of getting two text notifications one from Handcent and one from the stock SMS
MySMS.apk is removed...still getting them is there anyway around this? previously I didn't have this problem.

Dialer/Contact force close issue with cm 4.2.13

I recently had a problem with cm 4.2.13. Whenever I opened the Dialer or the Contacts and tried to make a call I got an acore system force close. I don't know what happened. I tried a backup restore, but I had just done one after flashing 4.2.13 before I found out about the dialer issue. After a couple hours of being pissed off, I decided to reflash 4.2.12.2 and it fixed the problem. Just putting it out there that this worked for me in case anyone is having the same problem.
Its mention in the changelog in the post along withh an updated apk

Did you flash contacts 2.8 afterwards? i did and i dont have any problems.
I had this issue too, had to revert to a backup and reinstall *.13 and the 2.8 dialer
Should this not be in the CM thread?

yes i tried that, finally got it, only had to reflash my custom rom..... twice haha
My only idea on how i finally got it to work may be because the first times i flash the new rom, when i reloaded my old apps/data with titanium backup, when i resynced the old user data settings maybe that messed it up? cuz the last time i reloaded my stuff with titanium backup, i only restored apps, instead of apps and personal settings or whatever it is

[Q] Nexus S messaging app problem

Everytime I install a third party messaging app it says there are unread messages but I'm not able to open it. It happened after I upgraded to Stock ICS. Tried clearing cache in messaging app. Any other way I can solve this?
Did your MMS.APK ever force close before? Or did it crash?
My stock mms.apk is crashing on every ICS ROM. Maybe it's a ICS bug...
Try reinstalling your ROM. Wipe everything you can. Delete mms.apk with Advanced Tools or via Terminal
Now Go in Market and install your favorite 3rd messaging app
let me know if it forceclosed before on you and if this method works

No, I have never had a forceclose. I use a official ICS 4.0.3 which I downloaded from XDA and installed without the need for rooting or unlocking bootloader. I tried disabling the stock messaging app but I still get notifications telling I have unread messages in 3rd party apps and nothing when I open them.
i know it's kinda banal but, have you tried to go to the stock sms app, than to settings and UNcheck the "notify for a new message" ?

Its not the problem with Stock messaging. I get notifications in any third party messaging app i install. I think it might be due to the messages in my inbox when I upgraded from GB to ICS. I'm searching how to clear the messaging cache or all data accessible to the messaging app without having to root.

Custom ROM breaks Push Notifications

I for the life of me can not figure out why my push notifications do not work when running custom roms. I have tried everything in the book. Clean installs/different kernels/different modems/different modems/new sim card/new google account. I have also tried a custom kernel on the stock rom and that didn't seem to work so I'm left to believe something with a custom kernel is breaking the notifications. Anybody have any ideas why this is happening?

have you tried just flashing the factory img and starting over? if all your notification settings are on, and have what you need syncing, id try flashing the factory img and starting over.

Superman ROM random freeze reboot

Hey guys, I just wanted to post a hint for all the people having issues with the latest superman ROM but it seems I can only post here with my new account.
So the trick is that I simply went back to recovery and wiped dalvik and cache (nothing else) and it seems to be behaving a little better now.. Quite a few hours with no freeze.
I'm also using the new 1.4 kernel as opposed to the one offered with the ROM (1.3.1).
Hope that it helps and feel free to merge this message in the superman ROM thread if you can.
No problems at all with superman rom, works smooth.
Only Titanium Backup would not restore any backups unless the app was installed.

I never said differently.. but if you look in the ROM thread, you'll find that people is having reboot issues with kernel 1.3.1 and system freeze issues with kernel 1.4

Not sure what you did there but I was able to restore apps that weren't installed and Titanium did the usual Market restore by itself, as usual.

I'm aware that there are users having trouble with Superman Rom. I did a complete fresh install for this, like mentioned in the "how to install" and not experiencing any (reboot) issues. Having the Superman kernel running and put all options to "on". Basically I confirm your hint
For Titanium Backup I made a full backup of all rom and of all user apps with data (Stock + CF-Auto-Root). Titanium seemed to hang at the moment of restoring any app. I redid the ROM install with an older version of superuser and it didn't help. All other suggestions in the Superman thread were tried, no result .
When I installed the app from the market and than restored it from Titanium it succeeded
As an alternative I had a full TWRP backup and restoring the data partition gave me all my user apps including data
I am not experiencing any of those issues.
What i did was a full wipe as suggested. (Everything except the SD Card)
I believe this is the best way to go because it sets permissions right.
I took the superkernel also no issues there.
Except i didn't take exposed because of the pre warning that systems might get slow.
I know this is not a real awnser to your question but ruling stuf out is also a possible fix.
Good luck.

I had Superman Rom too, but never used the kernel, always used Voltaqe.
Now I use Kingrom v8 and Voltaqe is down.
Also, now Im talking about it, if somebody still has the Voltaqe 1.4 zip, could somebody please upload it and send me a link?
