Superman ROM random freeze reboot - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hey guys, I just wanted to post a hint for all the people having issues with the latest superman ROM but it seems I can only post here with my new account.
So the trick is that I simply went back to recovery and wiped dalvik and cache (nothing else) and it seems to be behaving a little better now.. Quite a few hours with no freeze.
I'm also using the new 1.4 kernel as opposed to the one offered with the ROM (1.3.1).
Hope that it helps and feel free to merge this message in the superman ROM thread if you can.

No problems at all with superman rom, works smooth.
Only Titanium Backup would not restore any backups unless the app was installed.

I never said differently.. but if you look in the ROM thread, you'll find that people is having reboot issues with kernel 1.3.1 and system freeze issues with kernel 1.4

Not sure what you did there but I was able to restore apps that weren't installed and Titanium did the usual Market restore by itself, as usual.

I'm aware that there are users having trouble with Superman Rom. I did a complete fresh install for this, like mentioned in the "how to install" and not experiencing any (reboot) issues. Having the Superman kernel running and put all options to "on". Basically I confirm your hint
For Titanium Backup I made a full backup of all rom and of all user apps with data (Stock + CF-Auto-Root). Titanium seemed to hang at the moment of restoring any app. I redid the ROM install with an older version of superuser and it didn't help. All other suggestions in the Superman thread were tried, no result .
When I installed the app from the market and than restored it from Titanium it succeeded
As an alternative I had a full TWRP backup and restoring the data partition gave me all my user apps including data

I am not experiencing any of those issues.
What i did was a full wipe as suggested. (Everything except the SD Card)
I believe this is the best way to go because it sets permissions right.
I took the superkernel also no issues there.
Except i didn't take exposed because of the pre warning that systems might get slow.
I know this is not a real awnser to your question but ruling stuf out is also a possible fix.
Good luck.

I had Superman Rom too, but never used the kernel, always used Voltaqe.
Now I use Kingrom v8 and Voltaqe is down.
Also, now Im talking about it, if somebody still has the Voltaqe 1.4 zip, could somebody please upload it and send me a link?
And, why are there so much Dutch people here?

[Q] Titanium Backup Help

Please forgive me if xda is not the correct place to post this question, but I am desperately trying to figure out an issue I am having with Ti Backup Pro. I have also posted this on android forums but not having much luck getting a response there...
Anyways, here is my problem.
I've had the Mesmerize for about two weeks now and gotten to the point where I need to do backups...I have rooted the phone and installed TiBU PRO but am now running into issues.
I can backup/restore my user apps without a problem but anytime I try to backup system data the app just hangs...doesnt force close, or progress.
Has anyone else seen this or know of a fix?
Here is what I have done so far.
Uninstalled/Reinstalled TiBU
Installed BusyBox from within app
Changed App Processing Mode to AUTO Indirect.
I appreciate any help!
Not sure how to fix but it's usually not a good idea to restore system data anyway.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I've seen a lot of people say the same thing...but the greater problem for me is that I can't run the user app and system data batch job so I cant backup things like my SMS without manually deselecting the "red" text items..I think that makes automated backups nearly impossible especially as I add new apps/data.
Am I wrong?
diff busybox
I,m not sure if this will help but u might try going to the fasinate dev forum and getting adrynalines busybox 1.19 i think that or 1.18 is in most of the roms that r being released. ive never had the same problem so im not 100% this will do anything. also ur sig says stock rom so u might ask one of the devs if that rom isnt deoxed then i dont think it will let you do anything with the system apps. if im wrong somebody plz correct me and like i say u should pm one of the guys that r listed as ops on the Rom releases.
i hope this helps and good luck
What ROM are you running? I've had this problem with Heinz 57. It actually does back up and restore, although it doesn't "end" the action in the app and it looks like its still going even though its done.
titanium stalls
Finally! Someone with the same problem I've been having.
I run CM7.
I started having this issue with 7.0.2-Supersonic (I have an HTC EVO).
I started installing the CM7 nightly updates thinking that maybe it is the ROM and that it would get corrected.
But, no luck. The issue only is happening in Titanium when I try to restore a single app or a batch of apps.
I have even tried deleting all backups, wiping the phone, creating new backups, verifying backups... and still get the issue where it just hangs...
Have any of you tried contacting the developer of the app?
I am having the same issue with my Mesmerize. Titanium backup was working fine until the program had an update a couple of weeks ago. I notified the vendor and they had me try a couple of things but it didn't fix it. I sent them a logcat file about a week ago but I haven't heard back from them since.

duh. damn, i feel like an idiot. SO, turns out TB has a nice lil wiki. ... and in reading it, they suggest hitting the "problems?" button in TB.
Well, I updated my superuser and busybox and BOOM! - TB with now working just the way it should.
So, hit the "problems?" button and follow the guides!
I am running the Stock ROM right now. Still researching which custom ROM to use...
I have contacted the dev but not heard anything back yet, and I did try the problems button but that didn't help either.
I got so frustrated that I did a complete wipe of the phone and reinstalled TiBU but still haven't had any luck...
Well at least I can get some use out of my $$ with the app freeze functionality.
Hi everyone,
Very sorry for the delay. Now we'll start to work on this issue. We're in touch with one user who's having this problem already, but in case one of you wants to help or try a test version, please e-mail us directly at: titanium.android <<at>> gmail.com
Thanks a lot ! And don't worry, this annoying bug will be squashed
Edit: I forgot to mention that (I think) you can temporarily workaround the issue by un-checking the "System apps (apk)" checkbox in the Titanium Backup preferences. Let us know whether it helps...
Thanks! I look forward to seeing the fix.
Just as an FYI... I did try to uncheck the System App.apk and rerun a backup, unfortunately I got the same results

Dear all,
We believe we might have found the problem. Please feel free to try this test version, and report here. If we get positive feedback quickly, we'll do our best to schedule a release for tonight.

Thank you !
Whoo Hoo!!
Installed the test version and was able to perform a full backup. I was also able to do a restore and verify the backup.
Thanks so much!!!

I have the Samsung Mesmerize from US Cellular running Stock Froyo.
Let me know if you need more information.

[Q] Htc Evo 4G LTE Jellybean crashing super su

Hello all i just did the 3.15.651.16 update from viper boy and everything was good until i tried to update Su binary in Supersu.. it crashes the phone completely off and restarts every time.. i have tried updating busybox with no success.. anyone have any ideas on what this could be? I have done a full wipe x3 and a few rom installs and all do the same thing.. thanks in advance!
I'm actually getting the same thing. Not sure why but I tried with SuperSU and Superuser and it happened with both. I'm wondering if this is HTC's doing.....
Oh also, you might want to move this to the Evo forum because I only found this from Google and wouldn't have browsed this section of XDA for this issue.

Yeah I know i posted wrong lol.. I also noticed that whatever you do in /system say edit the build.prop always resets at boot as if the file system is a read only.. also can you see if your Navigation crashed.. youd have to be in a car moving but mine crashes bad
Sure I can check. I also noticed that anytime Titanium Backup runs a batch backup job it causes the phone to restart almost immediately
I'm really surprised this isn't all over the place. We can't be the only ones having this issue....

Any update on this? same thing happening to me, installed CWM-SuperSU-v0.99 and still see the instant reboots..

Give the MeanBean ROM by mikeyxda a try! Its great and reliable, worst case if you perform a hard reset flash MeanBean you can go back to your other ROM if you don't like it. At least will let you know if the issues lies in your existing ROM or not. You may even be able to perform a dirty flash back to your present ROM and that could retain the SuperSu from MeanBean.. Hope this helps.
If it did help feel free to hit my thanks button!!
I forgot to check but now when I do it, the phone doesn't restart--it now just says it failed to install the binaries. The phone is still rooted but I guess I can't use advanced features. I still think there's an issue in the /system directory because I can't get Titanium Backup to remove system apps (apps integrated into the ROM).

[Q] Infuse ICS

Sorry if this is a repeat but I can't seem to find a similar problem. After staying on froyo for 2 years my phone started to slow down and give random application errors. I decided to try a new rom for the first time. I tried installing clockworkmod recovery and almost bricked my phone. A flash with gingerbread using odin got a working os on my infuse again. This came with red recovery already installed. For 2 weeks I used this rom and found that my dataconnection was super slow, random app errors and almost no wifi reception drove me to try something else. I flashed gingerbread bootloaders to get rid of the rainbow recovery(literally could not see a thing in recovery) and factory reset, cleared cache and flashed CWM 9 for infuse this post. This rom is running fast, data and wifi are great but there is a serious error. When I make a call, after selecting the number to call the screen goes black and unresponsive. No amount of button pushing will bring it back. Also you can see that the IR light on the front of the phone next to the phone turns on. The call is made and when the recipeint hangs up the phone will come back. If there is no cell signal this does not happen, the call screen normally appears and you can cancel the call. I have cleared cache, wiped data and dalvik cache, then reflashed this rom and the problem persists. I also downloaded a 3rd party dialer which displays the same symtoms. Is there a way to fix this? Is there a better rom to use? Any suggested workarounds would be nice. I would just like to get my phone back to a stable working os as I use it for android development. Some things specific to my situation: I live in Poland now. My phone is unlocked from ATT&T to work on european networks. This was working fine on froyo. I would post this on the developer thread but I don't have permission to do so yet. Thanks in advanced for any help/suggestions.
Go to delopment section and find cm10.1 by scott hart and odin back to stock with root/cmw follow instruction exactly the way the are coming from stock and should be good to go. And install GB bootloaders it will take care of not seeing recovery clearly and u can find how tos in stickies in delopment(I think) but do or research before u ask a lot of question and post bug. Its a good idea to read last 3-10 pages on a tom or going to install to know if there are any major issues or bugs.
This is just advise I have done what I telling and have not problems but i am not responsible if u brick ur phone

Thanks for the help!! How is JB running on your infuse? GB boot loader was installed before CWM 9. Recover is working fine now. As far as I can tell no one else is having this problem with the dialer like me.

Thanks for the help. I did try a different dialer which I downloaded from the market, but it had the same problems. I have already moved on to Jelly Bean and so far everything is working great. One problem that I still have is my Titanium Backup of my contacts wont work. This happened in ICS as well. Titanium says it works and suggests a reboot. After rebooting still no contacts. Unfortunately I didn't have these contacts synced with my Google account. Any ideas on how to extract the contact information from titanium and import it to the contacts app? I know the backup is good, I was able to use it when I updated to Ginger Bread.

I've got an idea, I think my problem is because I didn't make a fresh backup after I flashed ginger bread. I think the 'contacts' app must have changed database formats between froyo and ICS. If I were able to take that backup file and load it into an AVD, then restore my contacts and export them to my gmail account I think I could recover them on my phone without reflashing GB to do a fresh/compatible backup. Do you think it's possible or would most likely fail. I've never tried to bring files into an AVD but I do know that I have internet connectivity while debugging apps. It seems possible that I should be able to send files to the AVD as well.

Recovery buggy date/time

Had anybody seen a situation where the recovery won't keep the correct date and time? I've flashed TWRP 2.7.1.0, 2.8.0.1, and the latest Philz, and all of them kept changing the time, the timezone, and the date... and they were acting a little buggy in their responsiveness.
Thoughts?

Nope... date is 1/1/2014 and the time is 3 hours lagging for the timezone.

Try this: Using something like Root Explorer, look for the TWRP folder on your internal SD card. There's a file called ".twrps". It's the config file for TWRP. Delete it and then boot back into TWRP. You'll have to redo your setting (timezone, screen timeout etc.). See if that fixes it. If that doesn't do it, not sure what else will.

I had tried peeking into the file with Notepad++ but nothing jumped out at me. Now I feel silly for not trying what you suggested.
I deleted it and it had no effect. The one I deleted and the one it created had the wrong date/time stamps on them... as did the two backups I created (both in metadata and filename convention).
On the bright side... my two backups are as yet undeleted.

Very strange, I was sure that was it. My date/time have been correct since using it. The only other thing I may have done was using KT Kernel as well, but I don't think that was it. If you decide to try KT Kernel and want to go back to stock kernel, here's a link for stock: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54632862&postcount=1702
Another thought: What version is your firmware? Should be NE5. If not, here's that link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2798079

I didn't flash the KT Kernel because the post said it needed to be flashed onto a TouchWiz based ROM... and right now I have PacMan (AOKP). I had MOAR (NE5) installed for a bit but I'm not used to stock. Truthfully, MOAR had everything I could want... I may just have to get over my snootiness.
Oh, it's coming back to me... with MOAR I was getting a lot of error popups of processes stopping running. i think "acore" was a common one. I could have troubleshot but didn't.

My clean install is usually wiping cache, dalvik, data, and system.
