As we know, by default when you install CAB it will get deleted after installation.
Some of cooked ROMs will disable this feature, so CAB will stay after installation. Which is OK for many people.
Here is my question. When I install new program using PC (through ActiveSync) it seems that ActiveSync will transfer CAB file (which is inside .exe) and then - install it as usual. So ... where will be those CAB files located and will they be deleted after installation if delete-cab-after-install feature is disabled ?
During TRANSFER ActiveSync does not ask .... "Do you want your CAB to be transferred to SD card or main memory", right ? It only asks during INSTALLATION of the CAB.
I make lots of installations using ActiveSync and would like to know if I'm not filling my valuable disk space (on phone itself) with junk CAB files.

I think that it stores them in the temp dir...which is deleted after soft reset

Thats why I prefer to extract the cab out of the C:\Programs\Activesync and copy them to SDcard. Pro: you have all needed programs on SDcard and do not have to install throu activesync.

To enable or disable deleting CAB files after installing:
HKCR/cabfile/Shell/Open/Command/
default = \Windows\wceload.exe "%1"
\Windows\wceload.exe "%1" /nodelete

Also if you make the files readonly you don't need to worry about making the registry change to stop them being deleted after installation.

I personally use SK Tools and have grown quite accustomed to its functions and features. When you go to the "Installed programs" section there is a "Move Program" option and also a "Create CAB" from installed program. Both do the job as expected.
hi guys!
can someone with some skills make a link between navi panel and IGO8, or Tom Tom or whatever navi software you like
in fact it would be even better to have the liberty to chose what navi software to be linked with Navi Panel
i would certanly like something like that

Well you adapt the config.ini to th likening of your navigator and copilot.exe you put in the copilot directory.
For more explanation you could take a look over here : http://www.google.com/cse?cx=partner-pub-2900107662879704:fs7umqefhnf&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=navipanel+hd2

Mate it looks like you copy the copilot folder to your Device\Program Files and then edit the config file to contain the path to your chosen nav software.
I am havin a play with it now, I will let you know.

i don't have igo8 installed on my hd2.
i have it on my sd card and ususaly i make a shortcut to igo8.exe from my sa card in order to run it
if you can make it work, maybe you post here a step by step guide
thanks a lot!
1) Modify the "config.ini" file with a text editor (eg. notepad).
So if you're using TomTom for example the Path looks like this:
Path=Program Files/Navigator/TomTom Navigator.exe
2) Create a directory named "CoPilot" in "\Program Files".
3) Copy the "CoPilot.exe" and your modified "config.ini" files in this directory.
4) Start the NaviPanel and it should work.
If it doesn't work it is maybe you're using a custem ROM and you have to register "alksdk.dll". To do so create the followong registry key :
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\NaviSW]
"SDKModule"="\\windows\\alksdk.dll"
I included my .cab which does everything for you, so you only have to change the "config.ini" file if you're not using TomTom. It creates a shortcut for NaviPanel in Programs - GPS, adds an icon I like to NaviPanel, starts TomTom and register the dll.
Good Luck guys hopefully this was helpfull for you.

Awesome thanks for your help.
I am making some progress now. I was unable to even get clickiable icons in the navipanel.
After installing the cab I have clickable icons in the navipanel but when I click them I get a message apperar that says "-2147479552" All I can do is hit OK but it keeps reapperaring.
My tom tom is installed directly to the root of the storage card. When I change the path to point to my exe file all the icons in the navipanel are greyed out again.
What am I missing here?

For the case of TomTom just install TomTom on your device and not on the Storage Card.
For iGo8 verify carefully the path to your Storage Card. If you use a different language ROM the name of the Storage Card is not always the same.
Keep in mind that the config.ini file uses "/" and not "\" in the path. (it was like that and I never tried to change).
Keep also in mind that NaviPanel often stays resident, so after changes kill it with a Taskmanager or reboot your device.
If still not working try to Google the HD2 section in the forum. There is some information about iGo8. Copy the .exe and some .dll and the sys.txt out of the root of iGo8 directory and put them in the CoPilot directory, then change your sys.txt for the right paths.
i get that same number error "2455,,,,,,,"
this stuff is driving me insane
cum on robert_mass....create a step by step tuitorial....i just need to know what has to be done in directing navipanel to igo8 exe

Thanks for getting back to me.
I ended up copying the tom tom files (without the maps) to my device storage and it worked.
I have left the maps on my storage card and it still seems to work.
Thanks heaps for the help mate.
@Twilight, I think your problem will be the same as mine. Try making a Navigation folder in program files on yourt device and copy trhe igo8 files there, then change the exe name to TomTom Navigator. I reckon that will fix it (worked for me anyways)
Thanks again Robert

Ok, cool it worked for you!
Normally you install the TomTom .cab on your device (the HD2 has lots of memory) and the maps ofcourse you leave on your SD card (TomTom will find them there without any problem).

If it's a .cab you installed, why don't you just uninstall it?
Slide to settings page > Applications > Remove programs
That should take care of it... (You might have to do a soft reset for the changes to take effect).

Hi,
I am having issues with the windows folder in my HTC HD2
I want to customize one of the PNG files, and i have done so on my PC but when i want to copy it to the windows folder and replace the existing file i get a message saying Access Denied,
I think this is because the PNG may be in use (Volume Control) so how can i change the file without getting this message. I have looked over the other threads and people have said to use Total Commander but i still have the same problem
If only i could access the files on the device memory before they become in use?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated
Thanks
P.S. i have attached the Volume Control PNG
Take TotalCommander (for PPC) or RESCO-Explorer for such things.
