I installed 6.5 on my wizard, it is slower than 6. I am thinking about going back to 6. Is 6.5 better than 6 in some point?
It is for sure slower & with less memory
but :
It is prettier, more finger friendly, you can choose a version with CHome (I have kinda bored Manilla) & every version that I try is faster than the previous & with more memory
I am using XDA2's CHome, it's pretty good, and I'll say it's very pretty. I get used to Manilla, maybe I will try to install that one and try out for a while.
i think 6.5 is more suitable for 128M ram devices, no?

Yeah, I think so, and cpu should be around 400.
Went back to 6.1
I installed xda2 CHome and another rom that slips my mind. Both were fine, but I found them slow and I had trouble closing windows with my finder--where as 6.1 it worked fine.

really?
I use CRMac beta 2 (6.5), at first boot have more 25mb ram free, after 1 day use still 21mb...It's great room but i still don't like Mac UI in this room
review?
I'm using xda2's CHome WM6.5 version 2.7(?). I flashed today. It was slow at first but im using Omapclock to overclock to 240. I've used this for a couple hours now, and with the overclock it seems a lot smoother than 6.1, especially the touch scrolling. The animations are also very smooth, which makes the device seem a lot faster than it is =]
Also, I seem to have a good amt of RAM after a couple hours of use, around 18MB. More RAM is available after a soft-reset.
I'm using a program i found here on XDA that autolocks my phone when it turns back on, so I'm finally using the native WM lock versus when i had 6.1, when i always used S2U2. S2U2 is great, but I wanted to try out the native lock. Its called Chobit SmartLock, and so far it works well. I also like the Caller ID here.
A downside though is that I dont think this version has a favorite contacts panel on the today screen, or a favorite programs panel either (like the ones you would find in M2D). Maybe I missed it?
But again, I've only been using this for a couple hours. Not much time to thoroughly evaluate it i guess. And props to xda2_haseeb!

Why I prefer 6.5
I prefer the overall UI functionality, it is lacking in a couple of areas so far (would like the calendar to show the next appt) but the finger interface is much improved over M2D/WM6.1.
Personally I find the XDA2 ROMs a bit under developed (currently trying v3.0 - gonna revert back to CR 6.5.0.0.4) and the v3 UI is a bit garish (the new titanium UI looks like an incomplete port of a VGA model).
It does tax the old OMAP850 (@195MHz) to it's limits but I like it!
Here is a link to the original Posting that I downloaded this from.

From Opera
http://www.opera.com/mobile/download/
I will get screen shots and a review up ASAP!!! I just installed and am messing around with it. There is also a widgets app which comes pre-loaded with a twitter widget, geoquizz, bubbles (game), status widget (ping.fm?), and google translator. You can click to add more and are taken to Widgets.Opera.com. where there is a selection to choose from. Seems Cool.
The scrolling seems to be quicker and smoother. Very nice. From the original post it seems that Turbo is off by default so I am now going in to Opera:Config to turn it on and see if there is a difference in loading.
Note:
June 12
I had been testing HSPL this week and havn't had a chance to play in Opera7 much anymore....... I just reinstalled on my newly flashed rom from udk..... So screenshots and such will be coming in the next few days. I'm very busy.
JUNE8
Overall experiance is good. Besides no zoombar. XDA loads faster.
I have experienced several freezes and crashes. It Is BETA though. So that is expected.
I have been able to get the zoombar working in some way. Not to zoom but I can use it to scroll down the page and through items. If intrested I can post the registry tweak for it.
There is a little animation noticed when rotating.
I am able to play video off of Youtube.com but not hulu.com
Screen rotation does not work at the moment. Using G-config as recommended below Works. Will see what registry edits were done using it.
I seems that in the original build Opera Config has more settings under adaptive zoom including one that says "zoom slider maximum" So this may be more tha a registry tweek. IDK
JUNE 7
It seems the zoombar is non-responsive. Could just be a registry tweak.... IDK though. Will try my best with waht little skill I have to look into it.
There is History when you start to type a URL
After a soft reset the Original Opera loads from the Browser Tab now.
Opera will not launch from Browser Tab after install and Bookmarks are not transfered. The original Opera Browser is still there and is not over writen though.
Just installed it and works great. Pages loads much faster and more smooth, turning the turbo mode didn't notice anything spectacular. Confirmed the ZOOM scroll bar does not work with the beta version. Hope its just a registry tweak or something.
Cheers,
Hi!
Hopefully HTC will release either a ROM upgrade or cab package that integrates opera 9.7 into TouchFlo. A cab package is maybe more likely at this beta stage.
Regards,
PK
Anybody manage to get the screen rotation working?
Screen roatation doesn't work as well...
Other than screen rotation, i am also having problem with suspending the device with opera 9.7 running.
I'm interested to see if someone can solve these issues too... other than that, it's faster and generally better.
cant read a page w/o to zoom in, but for the rest it is faster and sleeker
have tryed 9.7b1.
The page rendering is pretty fast,
but some pages are shown not correct.
to add rotation use G-Config
I, have tryed to enabling zooming with Advanced Config,
but the result was that the zoombar now scrolls thru the links.
Silly question guys... If I install the new opera, what will happen with the built in version? Will it be replaced or installed as a separate app?

No the original build stays in tact.
Some new notes on first post. Help is needed to enable zoombar if anyone knows. I got the zoombar working to scroll the page in opera.
I have installed beta 9.7 but it became the default browser. I was not happy about it so I uninstalled it. now links from mail are opened in IE instead of the pre-installed Opera. Is it supposed to do that or is there a way to get Opera back as default?

From their site:
* Opera Turbo in Opera Mobile is still a preview-feature;
o Downloads don't work while Opera Turbo is enabled.
o Some settings (such as toggle on/off images) do not apply when Opera Turbo is enabled.
* On older WM 5.0 Devices with 480x800 resolution, switching between portrait and landscape may cause display errors. This is due to lack of support for this resolution in early versions of Microsoft's driver.
* Some input method editors are known not to work well with Opera because they do not comply with Microsoft's SIP and/or IME standard. When such an editor is detected by Opera, Opera will use a known (default) input method instead. An exception is EzInput v1.5, where the phone keypad and compact QUERTY, ABC mode doesn't work, but the rest of the modes work fine. We recommend upgrading to EzInput v2.0 to avoid this.
* Only support for FlashLite 3.x. No Flash plugin included.

If you removed the battery from the phone and then returned with a version of your rom does not adjust the clock automatically, have to do manual work asta.If you do not like constructive criticism not you say that bug appear.
I attached a bow to do so. Tks.

But.. the rom seems to be very big.. how must free storage you get after installation?
6.5 or 6.1 modified
OK.. I just installed the rom.... but not impressive at first look..
Free storage is only 12.15MB -------but Mietas called it Lite
Though the rom is label as 6.5, it is more looks like a 6.1. Missing all the attractive menus, curve buttons.. etc of 6.5.
All keys are not preassigned... including the power key...
Need to check others....

Other 2 bugs that should when the phone is locked is no longer seen as the battery is left and that the battery is consumed very quickly.
It is marvelous, when I try to set up GPRS, setting for my service provider already found in the rom but I am yet to able to connect internet
In this rom many settings are already stored, I have seen many fonts too.. may be that is why the ROM is very BIG.
In looks and feel it is 6.1 except few changes. In usability, it is more or like kamikadze 6.1 but symbol selection is better in later. As moalesipufos says there is some cases of battery draining. I think this needs many improvements..
That's big because this includes camera, audiomanager and commmanager. HTC apps is very very big.
Thanks for replies, I fix this bugs shortly.
moalesipufos, thanks for cab to autoupdate time. Very thanks
if you can when i come back to home (i'm on summer's holidays) can update my kitchen with my last 23001 release...
I installed the Juicy WinMo 6.5 rom in my Verizon TP2. It is a great rom, fast and clean. It has the Leo Manila 2.5 UI. Opera 9.7 is installed and works with the zoombar. The htc media player has adds tweaks like pausing the music when the headphones are unplugged. The weather now uses gps to find you location, a plus because my home town was not on the Manila 2.1 weather.

not bashing but it is the most stable one i have use so far.
also it slows down a little but it depends on whats installed and whats being used but works flawless with the MMS work arounds.

The bad thing is that this version reports extremely low ram compared to what we should have. So it runs out of memory often without a clean reboot. :S

Question: is it possibe to get the multi-touch pinch zoom enabled on this version?
Zooomer doesn't work, because all it does is blowing up a bitmap without scaling it to the new zoom-resolution.
First impression is that compared to the stock Opera browser, this one has worse framerate, ie. it's not smooth at all. Also because the pinch to zoom doesn't work it's pretty much useless now; I can't come up with any reason why to use this as of now.
For starters, it is the first WinMob browser that allows me to view my online paper (volkskrant.nl).
But you are right, if you don't need it you don't have to want it. It will not add too much to you current browser experience. But g..d... this version is fast
I used zoomer to add pinch to zoom function, and had no problems at all, it works perfectly for me, scaling fonts and all the rest.
Mine isn't going in landscape mode thogh.
Does it replace Opera 9.7 or is it a separate application?

but the pinch & zoom is like old opera or like when you add an application that doesn't have p&n of stock and youve got a miniscreen to move around?

It installs as a seperate app. The standard Opera 9.7 is in the Windows folder, this one installs in the Program Files folder under \Opera mobile 10\
You will find links to both Opera's in the start folder. Word of warning though: it will become the standard browser, so when you push the 'open browser' button on the TouchFlo Sense browser tab, it will now open Opera mobile 10 beta.
edit:
It should be possible to add this version to both the Whitelist for rotation (HKCU \ Software \ HTC \ HTCSENSOR \ GSENSOR \ ) and that of the Pinch settings (HKLM \ Software \ HTC \ TouchGL \ Pinch \ ). I tried fiddling with that a bit, but haven't figured out yet how to do this.

thats not a zoom, because it makes a zoom with the resolution standard, not resize of the fonts, so if you make P&Z in opera 10 in a web at 100%, you will not be able to read anything, and text will not be in columns.
I think I spotted a registry setting for pinch and zoom for opera (in something like HKCU\Software\Opera\), but no idea if its just specific to the htc supplied version. Unfortunately im at work so cant test until later. Anyone up for digging through to see if v10 has disabled that option?
I uninstalled Opera 10 and now my default browser is ie. How can I change it back to Opera 9.7?

Not to worry, you can go back into Opera 9.7's settings and reset it as the default browser. Worked fine for me.
Ah nice, hadn't figured that out yet.
I just came from an i8910 (symbian) that had Opera Mobile 10 - to be honest I actually find 9.7 better from the point of view of the UI. I'll stick with what I have...

Nope it doesent support Flash or anything is the same as old v9.7 but for me SkyFire is far more better than this crap Browser
I have a problem that´s kind of weird with Opera 10 beta 2. When the program is active in background and i try to start the camera, it fails. It say "Cannot load camera" or something like that. But when i shut down opera completely, I can start using the camera again. Someone else with the same problem?
Hope you understand my pretty bad english. Dumb Swede here! haha
