whats google earth?

I've never been much of a Google Earth user... what are its advantages over Google Maps?

I really want Google earth too. It's a different experience from maps. You fly through a 3D environment complete with buildings terrain etc. It's much more graphic experience. Sure, it's not great for getting directions but if you're just looking for a place to explore [or plan a photo trip in my case], Google earth is just amazing.

Outer space IPAD like app for Android?

Hey guys, I was wondering if there was such like app?
I know the IPAD has a really cool outer space/ NASA/ Galaxy Science like app...
I cant remember the name of it, but it was on the first generation IPAD commercials when they first came out.
I was wondering if there is anything similar to the Android/ HC Platform? I would think so at least...
Thanks !!
Google sky is the perfect App to start with, but there are Tons of space related apps in the market
http://www.appbrain.com/app/google-sky-map/com.google.android.stardroid
This is a image archive app:
http://www.appbrain.com/app/nasa-images-archive/com.vanluyen.NASAImagesArchive
And a Hubble image app:
http://www.appbrain.com/app/hubble-space-images/com.vanluyen.HubbleSpace
This only touches the surface, but hope these help somewhat.
Regards
Are you talking about Google Sky Map? There's also the APOD (Astronomy Picture Of the Day) app that's made by NASA. I think Google Sky Map is the one you're looking for, but , it doesn't have lots of info but it is cool to play with.
AWW Damnit lol buzzboy beat me to the punch!
Google skymap is cool, but the graphics arent all that good on my tablet....
The one on the Ipad looks so sick. Oh well

Google Bring Games on Google+ Finally

Google today finally revealed a gaming element for Google+, the social network the company launched at the end of June
nooooooooo
no no, what next, those stupid "what twilight character are you?" quizzes?
So many people are happy about this.
However i'm not.
I think they should do the following.
Either not allow people to share there score in the streams and only show it once you play the game. Or allow the circles to active game post in that stream or redirect them to a specific game related stream.
I do not give a crap what the hight score was of my friend playing jewel.
That's exactly what they're doing, there's a seperate stream for games. All your friends highscores etc appear in that stream. Your normal stream will be the same, for sharing information, not game stuff.
NOO
Its like facebook and Myspace
Do you think we'll be able to keep our scores between android mobile and Google plus to play on any screen ?

sorry for going out of topic. but hows google+ growth so far? any signs of dying out? is it still continuing strong?.. apparently it seems to me that its not getting enough hype to compete with facebook yet..
Edit: games are pretty cool xD

Games are okay.. good way to be not bored but no apps please. I don't want it to turn like FB.

It's over 20 million now brah from its launch. The growth is unstoppable.
The only problem for me : out of those 20millions, I found only 2 of my friends, Computer specialists, like me.
The audience is not so wide and mainly composed of geeks for the moment .
I don't think Google will let it turn into Facebook with the stupid quizzes.
What?! NO! >.< Not good news... Unless of course, the games are well designed with developers not greedy for money? That'd be a nice change.
So far it looks like they are handling this better than Facebook has by hiding all the spam in a different stream. Honestly I don't know why the games need to do that at all though, but that's just me.

Apple approves every app before it gets to app store. So no, its not the same problem since they look at EVERY app, where google doesnt.
Anyone can become an android "developer" and put crap like this on the market. People who sign up for a market developers account have to agree that they won't, of course, but that doesn't stop people. Google's market police may eventually get to removing this, it helps if you mark it as bogus on the market.
No, Apple doesn't have nearly as bad a problem as the android market -- they actually check out the apps before they go on the Apple market.
Be sure to log a complaint with Google, you can do it right in the apps. I dunno how much they look at it, but I objected with "All fake apps from this developer" on each of his apps.
Shame.. he'll get $100 or so probably out of it before they cancel his account. And 100 bozos out there wondering why there's only a splash screen from the screenshot he made of the actual game.
One of the screenshots is of this game:
http://www.moddb.com/games/nazi-zombies-portable
which is free.
what is worst that can happen to these "developers"
Dude, those probably have malware on them
You need to get an anti-malware app like Lookout Mobile Security (google it) and clean your phone up before someone steals your info

Net Navi/Mega man PET style app

So I got to thinking earlier today that it would be kinda awesome to have "net navis" on our android devices. It could be somewhat based on the Megaman games where you would have a character that would "live in your phone" and it could be your personal assistant along with going into the net and doing cool things like in the games. So it could have a practical and helpful use and a game/fun use. It could be an interesting idea that a developer could take and run with or maybe there's even something out there like this already. If anyone really likes the idea and would like to create it, i have a whole gameplan layed out for the specifics. I'm just not too savvy on app making. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

Haha, I thought of that 2 minutes after I started playing MegaMan Battle Network (the original game for the GBA)! Unfortunately, I don't know how to code. If I did, I would have made a PET app already. It's crazy that Capcom hasn't and isn't planning on ever doing it. It seems like such an obvious thing to make. MMBN was ahead of its time but now we have smartphones that are just like PETs from the games and anime and we have assistant-like programs like Siri and Google Now.
I'm seriously considering learning how to code and program AI bots just so that I can make a NetNavi program. It would be even cooler if I could make AI programs self aware but I don't think I could ever do that. If I ever learn to code I'll make the app and let you know ;P
I'm actually kind of interested on the "gameplan" you've got laid out Maybe we've thought of the same things.
What I would not like to see this turning into is a fighting MMO. That would totally ruin the concept as NetNavis were supposed to be useful programs and not just toys.
I think i would like to get into this once i start getting the hang of doing android development. i already do other kinds of development including web based and some back end game development.
Let us know if you do. I would soooooo love to make the program but even if I did know how to code it would still be incredibly hard. It should be some sort of launcher and not just an app. Kinda like the way Facebook Home works: it doesn't take away important features but it customizes the whole experience in order to do its job. That how I imagine this. You get a call and, instead of ringing, your phone vibrates intensely and when you get it out of your pocket your Navi says something along the lines of "X is calling you. Wanna pick it up?". Of course Navis would speak differently depending on who you are (age, job, personality etc). When somebody sends you an email, your Navi would say "You got an email from X. Want me to read it?".
On to the interface, I think most of it shouldn't be easy to customize. Everyone should start off with a default gray humanoid Navi and from that point on, if somebody wants a custom Navi they should program it themselves so that they can make it look exactly the way they want it to look. There shouldn't be a Navi customization feature where users can pick a set of eyes, ahead shape, a helmet etc because that would make it too childish. The maker of the program should offer advice on how to create a custom Navi an should make that possible to do but that's about it. Remember how in the game not many people had custom Navis?
If you ever need alpha/beta testers you know who to ask
Good idea!

Yo I honestly think this is a good idea. Ive been DYING for an app like this to come out. You could combine something like iOS Siri and a Launcher/Theme app with a netnavi sort of mini game rpg type thing close to the gba game. You could customize the everything about the netnavi and level up find new weapons battle other people and all kinds of things as it progresses. It could make a whole lot of money too it could end up as its own Operating System like in the game. A real artificially intelligent app/OS game or whatever you could take it in a whole lot of places really. Someone needs to work on this idea.

Well, if I were to make a NetNavi program it wouldn't be a game. It would be a useful AI virtual assistant that would sort of combine Siri with Google Now. Like, it could intelligently predict what you wanna know and would know if you are interested in something specific during that time (like, say, an upcoming video game release) and it would help you with your life so that you don't have to open a billion different apps in order to do a single thing. One app (or rather, one OS) would be able to do everything and people would be able to download add-ons but not apps. The experience would have to be uniformed and everything should be accessible by the Navi so that it can do its job.
Of course, it could still have a gaming aspect. In the GBA games and in the anime NetNavis are personal assistants/anti-virus programs first and online gaming avatars (NetBattlers) second. So that would be nice. People who are only interested in a personal assistant could use the Navi that way while people who are into gaming could also train them to battle.

That sounds perfect lol i mean i honestly think it can be done and would love for thos to happen. Someone could even make a custom ROM or something or Launcher for now til it gets out there and does good cause all that coding and programs to make this would be expensive in the beginning. Someone could create an add on to a rom already til it gets popular or anything really lol i jus wanna see it done i been waiting since i was a kid and i know its possible now.

Hahah I've been waiting for it since I was 6 xD (I'm 15 now)
Now that I've finished all the 6 MMBN GBA games I want a NetNavi / PET more than ever. And since nobody is making one -even though it seems so obvious and the resources are here for the most part- I'd be happy to be the one who creates it IF I had a team of scientists, engineers and programmers to help me. But I don't. And I don't know how to code. But if I ever learn how to, I promise I'm gonna do everything I can to make this a reality for everyone.

The resources are ~mostly~ here. What about the killer AI? I don't think we could make such smart bots... Maybe in a couple of decades and with enough dedication.... Actually, we might be pretty close; take a look at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Tqt2TurCnI (you're gonna love it). Gotta get more info on this thing. Also, take a look at this amazing concept: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8iGWzG5wyU .
I think I'm gonna work on some "prototypes" (sketches and stuff) during the summertime once the finals are over. It would be fun. And who knows. I'm interested in programming so I might learn how to code and make a working PET prototype one day :silly:

This is exactly what I was hoping for when I posted this a while back. I'm glad its been seen and talked about. I personally don't have the time or skills to do it but I have the ideas and concepts of how it should work and how it should look. If you are able to take it and run that would be really awesome. Hey guys, hope this is still an open topic because I've been planning on starting a project to create an AI suitable for an app like this, then continue to work on it until it becomes a general AI. (or "super AI" capable of emotion, perception, interaction, education etc. like how human are to an extent) I've been a fan of Megaman for a while but took most interest in MMBN series because of the net navis and what they could be capable of. Toonwar, do you mind discussing to me your game plan lay out for this? you, or anyone else here really can just E-mail me at "[email protected]" in case Im not online at the moment or something. look forward to the dawn of navis and maybe a team that could help!
Hey guys:
Just wanted to say I'm passion too about AI...and love net navi's and megaman in general. I think it would be pretty cool if we could put together a team...even if not everyone can program well...we can all put our minds together and start getting the ball rolling right? Looking forward to this..

So you're best at making websites? The way I always envisioned the "jacking-in" and net navi battles would be a website based for navis to battle or meet up (because of course the internet doesnt look like it does in the show, and if navis could discard viruses there wouldnt be a fun battle that comes with it) so I think your skills would become really helpful later on in this! At the moment I'm actually learning the adroid SDK and java coding so that I can know the basics for starting an app for the AI's. It seems like youd be willing to help out in this? It'd be sweet if we could start a team!

I don't know if there's an app for this. The best way I've found interesting back roads is:
-Look on Amazon for a book like this > https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0913617172/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
-Join a local motorcycle or sports car club. Members will give you a lot of advice.
-Join (and frequent) your brand of motorcycle users forum(s). You'll be able to post a request for feedback/suggestions.
And finally, if you do find such an app, post a link and review here. I'd be interested.
ALOT of my friends use scenic on iphone which allows you to share your maps, save your routes, and piece them together with others. I was hoping someone knew of one for android. I normally just go get lost but in a group situation its nice to have something planned. I can remember back in 2001 taping directions to my tank! lol

I hunt for the same kind of roads as you, but if I taped directions to the tank in my Corvette, I'd have a pretty hard time seeing them..
When I'm going to explore new back roads, I'll start by using Google maps, then checking the "avoid highways" option. With Android Auto, that works pretty good. But as you pointed out, if it's a group situation you really do have to pre drive the route to check it out.
Take a look at BBR (Best Biking Roads) or Greatest Roads. Users upload their favorites.
