Mirror the similar thread in Dream forum, I started this thread as a constructive and positive place for those of us that have recently lost our MyTouch or Magic.
I am going to document the steps I took and hopefully reverse engineer this issue and also prevent other folks from doing the same mistake. This forum has been and good source of info. Thanks
What I did
Following [How-To] Root the T-Mobile myTouch 3G and I was able to flush to 2005 SPL and root successful as 32A rom.
Then I stop at "For Daredevils" and went with a different route.
I took the MT3G OTA (signed-opal-ota-150449.95700137.zip) and resigned it with test key and try to update it.
Update was done successfully and radio firmware updated at the same time and once reboot I got red screen of death.
What I got now
Red brick or Red screen of death
Power up while holding 'Back' button, volume down or any other button always result in Red Vodafone logo of death. I can't get to fastboot.
I can't get to recovery or fastboot which mean I can't do anything at all.
What I suspect
Flashing the radio (unclear what ver#) from MT3G OTA build (signed-opal-ota-150449.95700137.zip) might be that reason why it bricked.
Perhaps I probably should have followed the rest of the steps on "For Daredevils" and flash the ION radio and 32B RAv1.2.0G recovery, after that than trying to update with MT3G OTA without the radio.
I read somewhere in the forum (I forgot where), the reason why a bricked phone couldn't boot to SPL and not able to fastboot was because the radio firmware was loaded during SPL startup. Due to issue with loading radio firmware, SPL won't start properly.
Base on that, what we can try is to re-flash the radio firmware. How?
Maybe i can put the radio firmware as update.zip but how can i get the phone to load it when i can't fastboot

It's my opinion. If there is a way, that probably (track ball)+(power), the only key combination we(?) can see .
Let's find a way!

I think we have exactly same problem.
I'm sorry. I misunderstood. But I flashed ION radio. then...I got a pretty red brick!
I do not believe my phone is bricked but I believe it's pretty close...
My Rogers HTC Magic will not boot/load any recovery. I had a fully functional magic for several months using lots of different roms, however I developed a problem with one of the roms and after trying to install a new one, I can no longer boot any rom.
I can only boot into the fastboot screen, which says the following:

I have flashed the radio and still get only a rogers screen. I also have reflashed everything with original rogers magic files found on the forum (boot/system/userdata/recovery).
Still only have fastboot working
UPDATE: Got Recovery working. I flashed the radio/recovery from a givemeroot.zip I saw for those flashing the mt3g. I believe it can be used on this as well. Next step is to get a rom loaded
Flashed HardSPL and permabrick mt3g
I have been running Hero ROM's with no issues until today when I flashed a Hard SPL because I wanted to try Cyanogen latest. The new SPL bricked the phone, no power -splash- hboot, just a black screen.
The previous ROM's I have been flashing didn't need a new SPL. Are you not supposed to flash the SPL on the mt3g?

Same thing happend to me too, followed the steps till the radio part, flashed the radio - red brick. luckily i manged to get mine exchanged.

ummm... okay, I believe it could be easy goings here, if you go to one of the threads, which I believe you can find fairly easily, to switch radio/SPL through fastboot...
Rogers Magic should NOT use 2.22 radio, but either 3.22 or 6.35, unless of course you are using the dream, which is a different thing all together. Then, push the recovery you want (clockwork or amon RA), if after switch spl/radio, does not work. and voila, theres your fix

Today through this forum, I came to know latest Singapore ROM ( 1.5 + Sense). I was curies to flash that and without seeing it has a new version of perfected SPL I did it and now I am stuck. I cannot burn the Amon_RA's 1.6.2.

i flashed Amon_RA [How-To] Fix perfected SPL (fastboot remote: not allow) from thid thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=548218
and i used ROM v2.16.151.1 (NON-Perfected stock SPL v1.33.0009) of course via goldcard/hboot without any problems or errors.
nice thread, but as stated there you must flash "a ROM with a version that is HIGHER than your current ROM version." there is no higher version than 3.03.751.4 which comes with Taiwan or Singapore 1.5 + sense ui
so the only solution right now is to wait for a higher version with a non perfected SPL.
Did you upgrade to Official HTC sense ROM successfully before?

I have tried it with those three rom.
what i got is
Main Version is older.
Update failed.
AFAIK, ROM higher version than singapore with non-perfected spl is not released yet.

I still wish acidburn and amon_ra to come up with a solution. And that to, with amon_ra's method, we have to wait for another updated version of rom.

Hi,
you are also stuck with perfected spl.
If you want, you can try to fix your SPL by following Amon_ra's fixed perfected spl thread or fastboot into recovery mode.
AFAIK, there is no solution YET to fix that HBOOT-1.76.0007 (SAPP10000).

# Copy the required sappimg.nbh/zip to the Goldcard.
# Boot your phone while holding the VOLUME-DOWN key.
# Press the ACTION KEY (=trackball) to start the update.
# Wait until the update completes and press the ACTION KEY (=trackball) to reboot your phone.

I've tried upgrading my RADIO-3.22.20.17 to a RADIO-6.35.07.29 (`flashboot flash radio radio.img') and my Magic keeps rebooting some seconds after the Vodafone logo (I'm not able to use the Recovery - it appears reboots after some seconds). I updated my SPL to HBOOT-1.76.2007 as well and the same thing would happen.
I had to flash my radio back to the original but I really wanted to try the new official HTC Sense ROM. Could it be that I'm doing something wrong? afaik any 32A should support this radio.
Any suggestion?

The recovery is rebooting after a few seconds due to a kernel panic. It's not made for the 6.35 radio. You need to download the Amon_RA Hero recovery from here:

Can you get into FASTBOOT by holding Back and pressing Power to turn on your phone?
If so, then save the 6.35.07.29 radio.img and the Hero recovery into the same folder and run this on your PC from the folder you saved to.

Then turn off your phone, boot into recovery again using Home and Power, then apply update-hboot-1.76.2007-signed.zip

So the problem was that I was flashing a recovery-RA-sapphire.img rather than a recovery-RA-hero-v1.5.1.img?

That's what's happening... You need to make sure that the radio and recovery are flashed, then reboot and flash the hboot update.zip through recovery.

That's what happened to me earlier today, i used the latest sapphire image because i thought it would be better (since the hero recovery doesn't accept the trackball press and you have to push the call button instead). Unfortunately, the recovery crashed everytime it started, so i found myself in the position to use the hero one that worked like a charm.
Also using sense UI by cursordroid and it is unexpectedly delightful. I used amon_RA's 1.6.2 donut edition before that, but it had bugs, like internet disconnects on wifi and camera causing the phone to restart.
Can I install the the latest radio “6.35.07.29 Radio and 1.76.2007 SPL” and use the latest cyanogen ROM ??

This radio and SPL only support CursorSense ROM. ALL other ROMs will fail to load.
This ROM is a nearly stock 1.6 Donut ROM, based on the T-Mobile MyTouch 3G Limited Fender Edition. It has all of the T-Mobile apps in it too.
Thanks to crypysmoker for testing some rather dangerous SPL/radio stuff on his phone.
Requirements for this ROM
- MyTouch 3G Limited Fender Edition OR MyTouch 3G 1.2
- Rooted recovery environment
- Stock MT3G 32A Radio and SPL
---- Radio: 2.22.23.02
---- SPL: 1.33.0013
---- Amon_RA Sapphire G Recovery
- Ability to read and comprehend English for the instructions
Downgrade/root your MyTouch3g 1.2/Fender using the normal means. I think the goldcard method works. Check this thread for more information. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=622530.
After rooting, you will have a 32A phone that will not (at this point) have a working touchscreen on any ROM.
Download and extract this ZIP file. http://www.theandroidkitchen.com/fileshare/MyTouch3g32A/?download=MT3GStockRadioSPL.zip
Boot into FASTBOOT, flash the radio, then the SPL/HBOOT, then Amon_RA Sapphire G recovery, then press Menu to power off your phone. Boot into recovery and you now can flash this ROM. Make sure that you flash the radio, SPL and recovery at the same time without rebooting in between.

I don't have one of these phones, so I'm not sure what works and what doesn't, but I hope this gets you guys back up and running without reverting to the T-Mobile non-rooted ROM. crypysmoker is testing most functions out right now.

Ok after re rooting, Im back to where I was with 1.33.2010 and 3.xxx radio.
Board still says Unknown sapphire and 32b, but is branded H now lol

Here's your stock SPL and radio. I warn you though, don't flash the SPL. Use the 1.33.2010 SPL. I'll post a link to that as well.
1.33.2010 SPL
Stock MT3G 1.2 32A SPL and Radio
Extract the SPL/Radio ZIP File and put hboot-1.33.2010.img and the radio.img into one folder. Download the Amon_RA Sapphire H recovery.
Type in these commands with your phone in FASTBOOT mode:

fastboot boot recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.5.2H.img
Apply the 1.33.2010 SPL update.zip through recovery, reboot your phone, then boot into FASTBOOT again.
In FASTBOOT mode, type this on your PC:

fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.5.2H.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Your phone will boot back into FASTBOOT. Check to see that you now have:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32a SHIP S-OFF H
HBOOT-1.33.2010 (SAPP31000)
RADIO-2.22.23.02
You will now also have Amon_RA Sapphire H recovery flashed on your phone, so you can boot straight to it by holding Home and pressing Power.
Flash the update file and let me know how it works.

1.33.2010 SPL
Stock MT3G 1.2 32A SPL and Radio
Extract the SPL/Radio ZIP File and put hboot-1.33.2010.img and the radio.img into one folder. Download the Amon_RA Sapphire H recovery.
Type in these commands with your phone in FASTBOOT mode:

fastboot boot recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.5.2H.img
Apply the 1.33.2010 SPL update.zip through recovery, reboot your phone, then boot into FASTBOOT again.
In FASTBOOT mode, type this on your PC:

fastboot flash radio radio.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.5.2H.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Your phone will boot back into FASTBOOT. Check to see that you now have:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32a SHIP S-OFF H
HBOOT-1.33.2010 (SAPP31000)
RADIO-2.22.23.02
You will now also have Amon_RA Sapphire H recovery flashed on your phone, so you can boot straight to it by holding Home and pressing Power.
Flash the update file and let me know how it works.

I overly fully appreciate all your help.. but I guess you started typing before I was done lol
Again, main thing that makes me mad, is now it is branded with google instead of HTC now and says 32b rather then 32a which I think may be the main problem.
EDIT-- Oops.. that was a perfected SPL.. re-re rooting now. Amen ras base is still booting. once its done Ill go for this rom.
Ok after re rooting, Im back to where I was with 1.33.2010 and 3.xxx radio.
Board still says Unknown sapphire and 32b, but is branded H now lol
Flashing this rom.......

Give me a few minutes. In the meantime, do you now have the stock radio flashed, with the 1.33.2010 SPL and Amon_RA Sapphire H recovery?
Does your FASTBOOT show 32A Again?
For this ROM, please make sure you have the 2.22 stock radio flashed, from my instructions, along with the 1.33.2010 SPL.

Since I followed Amen ras instructions after reading them 100 times.. I for the life of me cannot figure out how I got this to say 32b. it makes no sense to me at all unless there was a major revision to the NAND or other hardware for these
its also doing the fun part like it did when I went to your rom/radio to where recovery just will not boot.

I flashed through flashboot ... Ive been messing with G1's for a while so I know my way around a tiny bit. its just this phone is pain in the tuckus.

Radio changed... Info at top did not.. Argh.. what would have made it change?
Since I know the goldcard method works and I can downgrade... Should I try the stock spl also? is it like the G1 where radio is first then spl? If none of this works then somethign has been changed in the hardwhere because the other guy in my thread that got hsi rooted has the same exact problem.

It's worth trying the stock SPL, see if that alone changes the 32B to 32A.
If you have Amon_RA Recovery installed and not the stock recovery, you should be able to leave the Stock SPL flashed.
First flash the stock radio, then the stock SPL, then flash the Amon_RA Sapphire H recovery, then 'fastboot reboot-bootloader' to see if your changes worked.

Wouldn't advise it.. it's Fender only (RADIO-2.22.23.02).
Try this Fender rom instead if you want to try it with your current radio/SPL.

DO NOT FLASH IT... those are only for the fender as they are the only ones that allow for anythign to work properly. flashing them to your board may kill your phone

I use recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.5.2H.img to up custom rom, when I reboot, It stop at boot screen,I wait 30' but it still at boot screen

Why are you using recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.5.2H.img when you should be using G? You should learn to read instructions.
You also point out that it's a 32B with H (which is fine) but you continue to flash the H recovery..? It appears that you understand the difference between the H and G yet.. you flash the H recovery. Wtf.

OK, first, I used G recovery, but It not work (it stop at boot screen, cannot join recovery screen). So I change H recovery > it OK that all !
Finally, should I use 32A rom or 32B ROM ??? H or G ???
Really? H recovery works for your phone? I've double checked my answer and people with the H, use the G recovery and it works fine for them... Now I'm just confused.
You should be using 32B Roms for your phone.
Correct me if I'm wrong... but I'm quite positive I have this right. What roms are you flashing that cause you to be stuck at the bootscreen
Maybe it has something to do with your radio... I think the H recovery works because of your radio. I'm gonna look it up.
Did you by any chance flash a different radio? If you did... well it appears that radio 3.22.20.17 is from rogers, therefore it's a 32A radio.. but I could be wrong. I haven't found enough info to back this up yet! Maybe someone else can come and help
If you did change and flash a different radio, I'd advise you to be careful before bricking it.

Ah I just took a look, so apparently, you can flash a 32A radio to your 32B and use the H recovery (reading what amonra just said, had no idea you could do that)
I don't understand why your roms don't work though.
You said it's stuck at boot screen and you wait 30' (What is 30'? 30 seconds, minutes?)
Someone else is probably oging to have to help you with tihs. I haven't dealt with this myself, sorry!
You need to flash 32A ROM ports if you use that radio version.

But I still don't understand why my phone is 32B and I can only use H recovery (32A), cannot use G recovery (32B), although tried different versions
my phone has RADIO-3.22.20.17 With this problem, I not confident to up new radio
the radio version dictates which recovery you will be able to use, hence your H recovery.
The only alternative to that radio that you have is the downgrade to 2.xx.xx.xx radio that you previously had.
DO NOT TRY TO FLASH 6.35.xx.xx

What best radio for my phone now?
Got almost the same problem.
Started with Vodafone org ROM with "Perfect SPL".
Managed after alot of testing getting it to:
SappHIRE PVT 32B ENG S-OFF H
HBOOT-1.33.2010 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-10
RADIO-3.22.20.17
With this ROM I can fastboot.
But havn't managed to use any recovery image yet.
No success with:
- cm-recovery-1.4.img
- recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.5.2G.img
Edit:
The recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.5.2H.img worked.
But still can't flash a rom.. have tested the MghtyMax, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=570700
The testing continues.
