Hi,
I've tried upgrading my RADIO-3.22.20.17 to a RADIO-6.35.07.29 (`flashboot flash radio radio.img') and my Magic keeps rebooting some seconds after the Vodafone logo (I'm not able to use the Recovery - it appears reboots after some seconds). I updated my SPL to HBOOT-1.76.2007 as well and the same thing would happen.
I had to flash my radio back to the original but I really wanted to try the new official HTC Sense ROM. Could it be that I'm doing something wrong? afaik any 32A should support this radio.
Any suggestion?
Current details of my Magic:
Code:

The recovery is rebooting after a few seconds due to a kernel panic. It's not made for the 6.35 radio. You need to download the Amon_RA Hero recovery from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=561124
Can you get into FASTBOOT by holding Back and pressing Power to turn on your phone?
If so, then save the 6.35.07.29 radio.img and the Hero recovery into the same folder and run this on your PC from the folder you saved to.
Code:
fastboot flash radio radio.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-hero-v1.5.1.img
Then turn off your phone, boot into recovery again using Home and Power, then apply update-hboot-1.76.2007-signed.zip
Then you should have radio 6.35.07.29 and SPL 1.76.2007.

So the problem was that I was flashing a recovery-RA-sapphire.img rather than a recovery-RA-hero-v1.5.1.img?
I'll try this when I'm home then... Thanks for relpyin!

That's what's happening... You need to make sure that the radio and recovery are flashed, then reboot and flash the hboot update.zip through recovery.
updated to 1.76.2007 can go back to 1.33.2010 ???

That was it!! Thanks a lot. I'm now using CursorSense
heh...
That's what happened to me earlier today, i used the latest sapphire image because i thought it would be better (since the hero recovery doesn't accept the trackball press and you have to push the call button instead). Unfortunately, the recovery crashed everytime it started, so i found myself in the position to use the hero one that worked like a charm.
Also using sense UI by cursordroid and it is unexpectedly delightful. I used amon_RA's 1.6.2 donut edition before that, but it had bugs, like internet disconnects on wifi and camera causing the phone to restart.
Can I install the the latest radio “6.35.07.29 Radio and 1.76.2007 SPL” and use the latest cyanogen ROM ??

This radio and SPL only support CursorSense ROM. ALL other ROMs will fail to load.

HTC branded (Airtel,India) Magic 32A
HBOOT-1.33.0010
Please proceed at your own risk. These worked for me. should work for all the HTC Magics in India. Dont know about the others.
Steps -
1. Download Recovery Flasher 1.4. Backup recovery image.
2. Download Amon_RA's RAv1.2.1H modded recovery image. Copy it at root of sd card. Rename it recovery.img
3. In Recover Flasher type “/sdcard/recovery.img”
4. Download "Engineering SPL 1.33.2005".(No other SPLs worked for me). Copy to root of memory card. Rename it to update.zip
5. Download any 32a Custom ROM (I used Amon_RA's). Copy to root of memory card. Rename to ROM.zip
5. Reboot in Recovery mode. (home+power). Backup with Nandroid.
6. Apply from sd card - update.zip. Reboot from menu after it says so. It will again boot into recovery mode. Seems to be stuck on "Clearing Cache....".
7. Reboot by pressing back+power. Check SPL is changed to 1.33.2005. Then power down.
8. Reboot into Recovery. Apply any zip from SD - ROM.zip
9. Once it is finished, WIPE THE PHONE from the recovery menu.
10. Reboot into a new android world.
Never used a Gold card. Those SPL's don't seem so perfect anymore.
Thanks to Amon_RA and all other developers.
Awesome job buddy.
Already rooted mine with a goldcard. But im interested in hearing how it works for people.
Please be aware that this method (using Zinx's recovery flasher) will probably NOT work for firmwares released after August 2009...

You have root already.
Post your adb output:
adb shell id
H:\>adb shell id
uid=0(root) gid=0(root)
Like I said, all I did till now is to use the unlockr method to get root and install gyd2.1 rom ;
I also have amonra recov 1.5.2h ;
thanks in advance for your support. Means a lot.
later edit : in another thread I already posted that I have managed to create a goldcard (sandisk 2GB) ; I guess it;s ok cause when I insert it in my laptop the pc doesn't require me to format it and it's accessible.

And now what? can I flash just the eng 2005 spl? If so, would the procedure described in post no 1(this thread) would do the trick?

SPL is like BIOS at computer. You only flash engineering SPL via recovery and nothing more.
If you want try some custom ROMs (with SenseUi or with Droid UI) you may do it via recovery too. But beware official RUU updates and updates, which contained hboot

Yes. But use only Roms with tag [32A]
p.s. Cursorsense is not compatible with SPL 1.33.XXXX
yeap, I was reading the entire cursorsense thread now. I intend to update the radio and the spl to try the rom.
From spl 1.33.2010 i can simply flash 1.76 required for cursor right? and the radio also; I've read that there's a way to return to 1.33.2010 eng spl if I would like to try other roms.
What I don't understand, why this limitation to that specific spl ver from cursorsense rom? it is not based on 1.5 cupcake? This is still pretty unclear to me. Is it because of the kernel 3.x ?
Thanks again mate. You really gave me the strength to flash
How do I flash radio and recovery throught fast boot?
- I put radio.img into the SD card.
-Off off my device.
-VOL DOWN+POWER into fastboot mode
-Then what do I do?
I have rooted my HTC Magic few month ago, however, I never dealt with updating radio before. So what should I do next?
Thanks
Move radio.img from your sdcard and into a folder where adb can access it.
Move to your tools folder.
Code:
fastboot flash radio radio.img

When the mobile is powered down you go to the general section and ask since this is the development section. But before you post yet another question you use the search since you'll find the answer to this several places already!
radio 6.35.07.29 is only for new spl from official sens ui rom.
PLEASE BE CAREFUL!
You don't really sound like you know what you're doing here...
You could turn your phone into an expensive paperweight if you're not careful.

You need to flash the Sapphire H recovery.img through fastboot.
The Hero recovery you've flashed is causing issues. It only works when the 6.35.07.29 radio is running.

Hi all,
I thought I would start a separate thread for everyone to get the proper instructions on how to upgrade to the new 6.35 radio and 1.76.2007 SPL.
Too many people are confused on the directions for upgrading. I want people to be happy with modding their phones, not angry with me.
If followed exactly, these directions will help with the issue a lot of users are having.
THIS IS FOR 32A MAGIC/SAPPHIRE ONLY!!!

For everyone who is flashing to 1.76.2007 and getting S-ON in their HBOOT,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=643291
They should know that they need to use the command "fastboot enableqxdm 0" to get S-OFF back with that SPL. This information should go in your SPL + radio update post.
Also, ezterry and lbcoder confirmed the reason of SPL+radio flash bricks, and is suggesting a way to flash the SPL+radio to avoid bricks. :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=655097
In short, wipe the system and boot partitions in addition to recovery, and end with the command "fastboot reboot-bootloader"

Hi
Maybe a verry a dumb question....but i want to ask it anyway.
I was wondering if there is another way to update the radio and SPL.
I only have Windows 7 and as far as i know there are some little problems with htc drivers and android sdk and i really don`t want to brick my phone.
Can`t we update them with Amon RA`s recovery just like we do with a new rom? (by pressing power and home button and renaming this files to update.zip and apply them?)

When i flash your radio, some error come.
E:\flash>fastboot flash radio radio.img
sending 'radio' (21376 KB)... OKAY
writing 'radio'... INFOsignature checking...
FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)
Now,i found the way to slove this problem.
If your SPL is 0009 S-ON,you must update it to Engineering SPL 1.33.2010 first.
I fount the SPL here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=529019
cursordroid: Is there any advantage in using the upgraded radio? (Other than to run your ROM) Thanks!
Update: Sorry about it. didn't read closely the first time round.
Please help
Guys - every time I try to flash the CursorSense 0.8 ROM from the Recovery menu, my device goes into this infinite loop of rebooting....or, it will just lock-up in Recovery after a few second - and I can't do anything. If I'm lucky enough to be able to click on the "update from ZIP" menu and then select the CursorSense 0.8 ZIP file, the device just goes into an infinite loop of rebooting on me forever!!
here is what I have....I believe that I did everything correct when I upgraded. I came from a very old Recovery (6+ months old) but all the updates from the instructions I found here in this thread went perfectly. Could someone PLEASE point me in the right direction? I would be GRATEFUL!

Anyone? Thanks SO much!
UPDATE
OK - so after stopping to eat breakfast and get my head together, I realized I was NOT using the HERO version of the Recovery file. So - I re-did the steps with the HERO version of the recovery, and now at least I don't lock-up or reboot when in the recovery menu.
NOW - when i attempt to run the update with the CursorSense 0.8 ROM, it starts to find and open the package (as normal) - but then about 5 seconds into this, it stops, and the screen returns right back to the main "Recovery" menu. When I try to do it again - the same thing happens.
I'm ALMOST there...! Any suggestions on this last issue as to why the update process starts...and then abruptly stops and goes back to the main recovery menu?
Thanks again!!
UPDATE # 2
So - NO - I'm really not an idiot...but for some reason, I decided to walk through all the steps in this thread again (except for the radio update because it was done already) - and now it all WORKED! The one extra step I took was wiping my SD card (which was a basic card with NO extra partitions and I have used it to flash dozens of other ROM's without an issue) and started from scratch with that too, just in case. Well, it worked!! I just installed the CursorSense 0.8 ROM successfully and it is booting now (nice Nexus boot screen BTW).
So - thanks for letting me vent and ask for help on this thread...it made me double and triple check a few things, and bam! I got through it.
As always - this forum and you guys are ridiculously amazing!
Happy holidays
I have a stupid question, will I lost everything after upgrade to this radio and SPL?

only upgrade radio and spl,you won't lost any data.
Hey Guys
Just wondering, when you run the "full nandroid backup", do you use the recovery for the magic or the one you download for the hero?
Sorry if this seems a rather simple question to many of you, I'm brand new to this.
Thanks for any help

Hello i've
Sapphire PVT 32A

i want to know what is last radio firmware that runs on my phone with cyanogenmod 4.2.12.2 rom.
cyanogen think it solves my 3g disconnection problem. It writes me:
3g data disconnection
http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/detail?id=984
Please try re-flashing the current radio for your device, even if it's
already at 2.22.19.26i (for 32b) download the top file here:
http://code.google.com/p/sapphire-port-dream/ flash it like a normal
update.zip, reboot to see the box->phone, and reboot again once it dumps
you back in recovery. I'm not sure if it's crappy EEPROMS or what, but
re-flashing the radio has been shown to fix bt/gps/wifi/3g/audio/etc. issues.
There is a newest radio for 32A... Remember that Cyanogen does the CM for 32B devices so he actually answered your question regarding that device...
Well here's the latest radio for the 32A devices and the instruction to install it...
RADIO 3.22.23.18:
http://www.4shared.com/file/176873890/399c9312/Radio_HTC_PVT_32A_3222318.html
In fastboot you have to put this commands:
fastboot devices (to check if your device is recognized)
fastboot flash radio *\radio.img (*= path of the Radio.img file)
Remember that you have to use the same name of the radio.img file (You can rename it for an easy way to install it)

i'm using Radio 3.22.23.18 and i've an issue with cm4.2.12.2.
When phone resume after standby, phone losts 3g data connection.
Do you have same issue?
how i can solve? thanks.
Nope... Never had that problem...
This ROM is a nearly stock 1.6 Donut ROM, based on the T-Mobile MyTouch 3G Limited Fender Edition. It has all of the T-Mobile apps in it too.
Thanks to crypysmoker for testing some rather dangerous SPL/radio stuff on his phone.
Requirements for this ROM
- MyTouch 3G Limited Fender Edition OR MyTouch 3G 1.2
- Rooted recovery environment
- Stock MT3G 32A Radio and SPL
---- Radio: 2.22.23.02
---- SPL: 1.33.0013
---- Amon_RA Sapphire G Recovery
- Ability to read and comprehend English for the instructions
Downgrade/root your MyTouch3g 1.2/Fender using the normal means. I think the goldcard method works. Check this thread for more information. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=622530.
After rooting, you will have a 32A phone that will not (at this point) have a working touchscreen on any ROM.
Download and extract this ZIP file. http://www.theandroidkitchen.com/fileshare/MyTouch3g32A/?download=MT3GStockRadioSPL.zip
Boot into FASTBOOT, flash the radio, then the SPL/HBOOT, then Amon_RA Sapphire G recovery, then press Menu to power off your phone. Boot into recovery and you now can flash this ROM. Make sure that you flash the radio, SPL and recovery at the same time without rebooting in between.
Code:
fastboot flash radio radio.img
fastboot flash hboot hboot_7201A_1.33.0013G_091021.nbo
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.5.2G.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Then boot into recovery by holding Home and pressing Power and you can flash this ROM.
Features:
- root, of course
- busybox
- Superuser.apk
I don't have one of these phones, so I'm not sure what works and what doesn't, but I hope this gets you guys back up and running without reverting to the T-Mobile non-rooted ROM. crypysmoker is testing most functions out right now.
Enjoy!
MT3GFender32A-Stock-1.0-signed.zip
Please keep all issues in this thread. Again, please remember that I don't have one of these phones, so I can't directly test fixes for anything. I will rely on you guys for that.
I accept no responsibility for damage to your device, but this is just a ROM, so it's damn near impossible for this to damage your device.
It´s for 32A too?
Thanks.
Thank alot. Im hoping this helps us out trying to figure out the whole no touch screen problem. If anyone can also find the radio and spl that comes with this phone it would be greatly appreciated.
I unrooted lastnight to take the phone back but Ill start again with this as a base..
I will be sooo happy if clicky clicky works lol

I am in fastboot right now, and can boot into amen ras recovery through it. So Once you get those files up, Ill start
1.try this rom first...
2.Flash radio back and try rom, or other rom..
3Flash spl and radio back... but then have no root to fastboot to flash rom lol
This phone has turned out to be a doosey.
Again, main thing that makes me mad, is now it is branded with google instead of HTC now and says 32b rather then 32a which I think may be the main problem.
EDIT-- Oops.. that was a perfected SPL.. re-re rooting now. Amen ras base is still booting. once its done Ill go for this rom.
Ok after re rooting, Im back to where I was with 1.33.2010 and 3.xxx radio.
Board still says Unknown sapphire and 32b, but is branded H now lol
Flashing this rom.......

Here's your stock SPL and radio. I warn you though, don't flash the SPL. Use the 1.33.2010 SPL. I'll post a link to that as well.
1.33.2010 SPL
Stock MT3G 1.2 32A SPL and Radio
Extract the SPL/Radio ZIP File and put hboot-1.33.2010.img and the radio.img into one folder. Download the Amon_RA Sapphire H recovery.
Type in these commands with your phone in FASTBOOT mode:
Code:
fastboot boot recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.5.2H.img
Apply the 1.33.2010 SPL update.zip through recovery, reboot your phone, then boot into FASTBOOT again.
In FASTBOOT mode, type this on your PC:
Code:
fastboot flash radio radio.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.5.2H.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Your phone will boot back into FASTBOOT. Check to see that you now have:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32a SHIP S-OFF H
HBOOT-1.33.2010 (SAPP31000)
RADIO-2.22.23.02
You will now also have Amon_RA Sapphire H recovery flashed on your phone, so you can boot straight to it by holding Home and pressing Power.
Flash the update file and let me know how it works.

I saw that error on my phone just now too... I'm going to try to fix it.
Give me a few minutes. In the meantime, do you now have the stock radio flashed, with the 1.33.2010 SPL and Amon_RA Sapphire H recovery?
Does your FASTBOOT show 32A Again?
For this ROM, please make sure you have the 2.22 stock radio flashed, from my instructions, along with the 1.33.2010 SPL.

Since I followed Amen ras instructions after reading them 100 times.. I for the life of me cannot figure out how I got this to say 32b. it makes no sense to me at all unless there was a major revision to the NAND or other hardware for these
its also doing the fun part like it did when I went to your rom/radio to where recovery just will not boot.

I flashed through flashboot ... Ive been messing with G1's for a while so I know my way around a tiny bit. its just this phone is pain in the tuckus.
Oops, you werent done uploading.... Flashing now....
Radio changed... Info at top did not.. Argh.. what would have made it change?
Since I know the goldcard method works and I can downgrade... Should I try the stock spl also? is it like the G1 where radio is first then spl? If none of this works then somethign has been changed in the hardwhere because the other guy in my thread that got hsi rooted has the same exact problem.

It's worth trying the stock SPL, see if that alone changes the 32B to 32A.
If you have Amon_RA Recovery installed and not the stock recovery, you should be able to leave the Stock SPL flashed.
First flash the stock radio, then the stock SPL, then flash the Amon_RA Sapphire H recovery, then 'fastboot reboot-bootloader' to see if your changes worked.

Wouldn't advise it.. it's Fender only (RADIO-2.22.23.02).
Try this Fender rom instead if you want to try it with your current radio/SPL.

DO NOT FLASH IT... those are only for the fender as they are the only ones that allow for anythign to work properly. flashing them to your board may kill your phone
thansk for answer.
I can confirm this works on stock radio & spl Any chance you can add multitouch and netfilter support when you have time?
Hey, Im new to this rooting process and I have a mytouch fender. I was wondering if you guys could post some screenshots of how the rom looks on the phone and what are the benefits of rooting the fender?
