How do I flash radio and recovery throught fast boot?
- I put radio.img into the SD card.
-Off off my device.
-VOL DOWN+POWER into fastboot mode
-Then what do I do?
I have rooted my HTC Magic few month ago, however, I never dealt with updating radio before. So what should I do next?
Thanks
Move radio.img from your sdcard and into a folder where adb can access it.
Move to your tools folder.
Code:
fastboot flash radio radio.img

When the mobile is powered down you go to the general section and ask since this is the development section. But before you post yet another question you use the search since you'll find the answer to this several places already!
radio 6.35.07.29 is only for new spl from official sens ui rom.
PLEASE BE CAREFUL!
You don't really sound like you know what you're doing here...
You could turn your phone into an expensive paperweight if you're not careful.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=589722
Do not flash the 6.35.07.29 radio until you know absolutely what you are doing.
I tried with fastboot flash radio radio.img but at tht written senting by ok while writing that I have left the screen blank and does not go forward... help!!!

You need to flash the Sapphire H recovery.img through fastboot.
The Hero recovery you've flashed is causing issues. It only works when the 6.35.07.29 radio is running.

Hi,
I've tried upgrading my RADIO-3.22.20.17 to a RADIO-6.35.07.29 (`flashboot flash radio radio.img') and my Magic keeps rebooting some seconds after the Vodafone logo (I'm not able to use the Recovery - it appears reboots after some seconds). I updated my SPL to HBOOT-1.76.2007 as well and the same thing would happen.
I had to flash my radio back to the original but I really wanted to try the new official HTC Sense ROM. Could it be that I'm doing something wrong? afaik any 32A should support this radio.
Any suggestion?
Current details of my Magic:

The recovery is rebooting after a few seconds due to a kernel panic. It's not made for the 6.35 radio. You need to download the Amon_RA Hero recovery from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=561124
Can you get into FASTBOOT by holding Back and pressing Power to turn on your phone?
If so, then save the 6.35.07.29 radio.img and the Hero recovery into the same folder and run this on your PC from the folder you saved to.
Code:
fastboot flash radio radio.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-hero-v1.5.1.img
Then turn off your phone, boot into recovery again using Home and Power, then apply update-hboot-1.76.2007-signed.zip
Then you should have radio 6.35.07.29 and SPL 1.76.2007.

That was it!! Thanks a lot. I'm now using CursorSense
heh...
That's what happened to me earlier today, i used the latest sapphire image because i thought it would be better (since the hero recovery doesn't accept the trackball press and you have to push the call button instead). Unfortunately, the recovery crashed everytime it started, so i found myself in the position to use the hero one that worked like a charm.
Also using sense UI by cursordroid and it is unexpectedly delightful. I used amon_RA's 1.6.2 donut edition before that, but it had bugs, like internet disconnects on wifi and camera causing the phone to restart.
Can I install the the latest radio “6.35.07.29 Radio and 1.76.2007 SPL” and use the latest cyanogen ROM ??

This radio and SPL only support CursorSense ROM. ALL other ROMs will fail to load.
This ROM is a nearly stock 1.6 Donut ROM, based on the T-Mobile MyTouch 3G Limited Fender Edition. It has all of the T-Mobile apps in it too.
Thanks to crypysmoker for testing some rather dangerous SPL/radio stuff on his phone.
Requirements for this ROM
- MyTouch 3G Limited Fender Edition OR MyTouch 3G 1.2
- Rooted recovery environment
- Stock MT3G 32A Radio and SPL
---- Radio: 2.22.23.02
---- SPL: 1.33.0013
---- Amon_RA Sapphire G Recovery
- Ability to read and comprehend English for the instructions
Downgrade/root your MyTouch3g 1.2/Fender using the normal means. I think the goldcard method works. Check this thread for more information. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=622530.
After rooting, you will have a 32A phone that will not (at this point) have a working touchscreen on any ROM.
Download and extract this ZIP file. http://www.theandroidkitchen.com/fileshare/MyTouch3g32A/?download=MT3GStockRadioSPL.zip
Boot into FASTBOOT, flash the radio, then the SPL/HBOOT, then Amon_RA Sapphire G recovery, then press Menu to power off your phone. Boot into recovery and you now can flash this ROM. Make sure that you flash the radio, SPL and recovery at the same time without rebooting in between.
Code:
fastboot flash radio radio.img
fastboot flash hboot hboot_7201A_1.33.0013G_091021.nbo
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.5.2G.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Then boot into recovery by holding Home and pressing Power and you can flash this ROM.
Features:
- root, of course
- busybox
- Superuser.apk
I don't have one of these phones, so I'm not sure what works and what doesn't, but I hope this gets you guys back up and running without reverting to the T-Mobile non-rooted ROM. crypysmoker is testing most functions out right now.
Enjoy!
MT3GFender32A-Stock-1.0-signed.zip
Please keep all issues in this thread. Again, please remember that I don't have one of these phones, so I can't directly test fixes for anything. I will rely on you guys for that.
I accept no responsibility for damage to your device, but this is just a ROM, so it's damn near impossible for this to damage your device.
It´s for 32A too?
Thanks.
Thank alot. Im hoping this helps us out trying to figure out the whole no touch screen problem. If anyone can also find the radio and spl that comes with this phone it would be greatly appreciated.

Here's your stock SPL and radio. I warn you though, don't flash the SPL. Use the 1.33.2010 SPL. I'll post a link to that as well.
1.33.2010 SPL
Stock MT3G 1.2 32A SPL and Radio
Extract the SPL/Radio ZIP File and put hboot-1.33.2010.img and the radio.img into one folder. Download the Amon_RA Sapphire H recovery.
Type in these commands with your phone in FASTBOOT mode:
Code:
fastboot boot recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.5.2H.img
Apply the 1.33.2010 SPL update.zip through recovery, reboot your phone, then boot into FASTBOOT again.
In FASTBOOT mode, type this on your PC:
Code:
fastboot flash radio radio.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.5.2H.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Your phone will boot back into FASTBOOT. Check to see that you now have:

Oops, you werent done uploading.... Flashing now....

Since I know the goldcard method works and I can downgrade... Should I try the stock spl also? is it like the G1 where radio is first then spl? If none of this works then somethign has been changed in the hardwhere because the other guy in my thread that got hsi rooted has the same exact problem.

It's worth trying the stock SPL, see if that alone changes the 32B to 32A.
If you have Amon_RA Recovery installed and not the stock recovery, you should be able to leave the Stock SPL flashed.
First flash the stock radio, then the stock SPL, then flash the Amon_RA Sapphire H recovery, then 'fastboot reboot-bootloader' to see if your changes worked.

Well I don't know what I was thinking, but I flashed a My Touch radio (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=640535) on my 32a Magic. Now I can't get past the Rogers logo. I've read that if I boot my phone while pressing home+power after entering 'fastboot flash recovery recovery.img', that I will be able to get back into the recovery image and fastboot screen. Now the question I have is what recovery image should I use? The My Touch one, or the 32a Magic one?
Any other ideas would be appreciated.
use the recovery that corresponds with the radio you flashed (mytouch in this case) - should work fine.

You have no idea how many times I hear myself think the very same thing... But I wouldn't have learned that the Hero SPL 1.76.2007 works on the 32A Magic unless I was a little reckless.
Why dont you boot into fastboot (back and power) and do the following:
Download the 3.22.20.17, 1.33.2010 SPL and 32a recovery
Radio: http://briancrook.ca/magic/3.22/Radio_HTC_PVT_32A_3.22.20.17.img
SPL: http://briancrook.ca/magic/3.22/hboot-1.33.2010.img
Recovery: http://briancrook.ca/magic/3.22/recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.6.2H-pink.img
Code:
fastboot flash radio Radio_HTC_PVT_32A_3.22.20.17.img
fastboot flash hboot hboot-1.33.2010.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.6.2H-pink.img
fastboot erase system -w
fastboot reboot-bootloader
This will wipe the entire system partition but won't touch your /data. You will reboot into fastboot after the last command. Make sure you have the 3.xx radio and SPL. Reboot into recovery.
Hope this works.

but 1.5.3.1 not 1.6.something

What is the exact radio/SPL version on your phone?
I've 'semi-bricked' my phone like this before too. It's scary, but fixable.
EDIT:
You have no idea how many times I hear myself think the very same thing... But I wouldn't have learned that the Hero SPL 1.76.2007 works on the 32A Magic unless I was a little reckless.

Radio: 2.22.23.02
SPL: 1.33.2010
What recovery image should I try using with that combination?
Since you haven't yet said.. Can you access fastboot?
If not, can fastboot or adb find your phone when your stuck on the Rogers splash?

Tried that recovery, it didn't work.

Will the gold card method work if I can't get into fastboot?
i think, from past reading on here... your on the right track...
u need to have the phone powered off... plug in the usb cable to the phone and computer.
then try these commands
Code:
fastboot kill server
fastboot boot <your.32b.recoveryimage.img>
you should then hopefully see
<waiting for device>
then try powering up your phone... and if it boots...
flash your radio.. spl ... rom etc...
hope this works for you
yes ive read threads and all but still cant manage to get a custom rom
i have rooted the phone through unlockr steps...then followed cursors steps to update to radio 6.35.10.18 and spl 1.76.2007...and i put the amon ra hero-v1.6.2 recovery on my phone
now the problem is that when i try booting into recovery using the home+power button nothing happens it turns on to the "htc magic" screen and hangs
then i saw amon ra's post that said place the rom on the sd card and then boot...tried that nothing..it hangs again
any help would suffice...i know im doing something wrong but the phone works with amon ra sapphire-v1.6.2G with stock radio and spl
fastboot info stock rooted:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0013 (SAPP31000)

What phone?
If you're using RA's "G" recovery, you've got a 32b phone.
Try booting into fastboot and if that doesn't work than you've got a pretty nice looking paperweight.
You might be able to reverse it with this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591048&highlight=jtag
but don't get your hopes up
Sorry about your luck dude
Hmmm.... yeah..ur fastboot info would help.

If the problem is only with the recovery image you should be able to fix it. Boot the phone in fastboot mode (vol-down + power). Then do this:
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-Magic32A-6.35-v1.6.2.img
You can get the recovery image here:

I have the exact phone as you do, and am having the same problem! Glad to see this post is getting some responses. Hopefully we can get something figured out. I as well have followed the same steps you did to unlock your phone and flash the new radio/spl. I've tried multiple recovery files and nothing changes, just sits at htc magic screen.
Woah I guess you missed THIS IS FOR 32A MAGIC/SAPPHIRE ONLY!!! in the thread about upgrading.
If that wasn't clear enough that it was not for your phone than the revert to 3.22 radio part must have been. (Why? Because you did not have that radio in the first place, and you cant revert to something that you did not have.)
That radio and spl DO NOT WORK on the new mytouch 1.2
Actually, you need to downgrade to the 2.22.23 (stock) radio and "G" recovery. As long as you've booted into fastboot with your goldcard in (missing SAPPIMG) without a "perfect" SPL, it can be done. Total pain, but it can be done...
You may need to "fastboot erase radio", "fastboot erase recovery" and "fastboot erase boot" just before flashing them again. As I recall, it doesn't "take" unless you've done this.
Good luck!
eyegor, you posted a statement from the origional thread stating "THIS IS FOR 32A MAGIC/SAPPHIRE ONLY!!!" But what about the fact that we have a Sapphire phone? in fastboot ours state "SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON G" Doesn't that show we have the correct phone? I understand what your saying about the 3.22 radio
The Mytouch 3g Fender/LE/1.2 is not a normal 32a phone. It's unique. If you wanna do anything with a fender or 1.2, make sure the instructions say they're for that exact phone. Stuff for the G1 or original Mytouch 3g or any of it's varients won't work on the 1.2(except for cyanogen's new 2.1 testing rom which has fender/1.2 patches integrated now)
So if the post says its for the 32A, I/we shouldn't assum its for the Fender/1.2? Only use roms that say they are for Fender/1.2?
Every phone of this kind says SAPPHIRE....refer to the rest of my post.

No the old radio is not better despite what you may think. T-mobile released this radio for a reason. Its not the radio, its either your phone's hardware (from being dropped, ect) or its you being in a weak area. No reason to down grade your radio.
i too have been pondering over this. i read somewhere that 26I is better for us folk in europe, but that could be a crock of....

DO NOT "just flash it".
If you have a 1.33.2xxx SPL (which you do), then you have the ability to FASTBOOT FLASH your radio image.
Fastboot is the safest way to flash your radio.
Find the 2.22.19.26 radio's update.zip, EXTRACT the file "radio.img" out of it, boot the phone in fastboot mode, and "fastboot flash radio radio.img".

Yes,I have 1.33.2005 spl and 2.22.23.02 radio
Okay,so
1.unpack radio.img from 2.22.19.26I.zip
2.Go into fastboot mode
3.Flashing via fastboot
fastboot flash radio radio.img
3.restart and done
Is that right,lbcoder?

That is correct. (make sure the radio is in your computer and not on the sd).
It's not really dangerous to flash a radio using the normal method either. AFAIK there are only 2 ways to brick a phone... flashing a bad SPL or flashing a bad Recovery after a "reboot recovery". Basically a radio is always safe, flashing a rom is always safe, and as long as you get in to recovery by holding home, flashing a recovery is always safe (as long as you have a working rom).
QUESTIONS belong in the "Q n A" section. I know, fooled me too.
Flash this file: http://www.mediafire.com/?6b6cy4623cn3cf2
Thats the old radio, but it wont mess with ur phone no matter what danger spl or anythhing, i upgrade and downgrade radios all the time. =D
And 26i is sometimes better in some areas than other areas, and vice versa with the newer update.
I have the same problem i need to downgrade the Radio version to original.
Now my phone has this radio and SPL
SAPPHIRE PVT 32B ENG S-OFF H
HBOOT-1.33.2005 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-10
RADIO-2.22.27.08
I need to restore the original version as
SAPPHIRE PVT 32B ENG S-OFF H
HBOOT-1.33.2005 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-10
RADIO-2.22.19.26I
If I download the original Radio form here http://developer.htc.com/google-io-device.html
and flash via fastboot, I can proceeed without fear to brick the phone?
boot into fastboot mode, see if there is showing S-OFF,if it is ,then you could flash 26I directly in fastboot mode with this code "fastboot flash radio (your radio name).img"
if there showing S-ON,you maybe need a NBH ,so that you can flash it in fastboot mode, then flash recovery, radio and spl again. because under S-ON mode ,you could not flash IMG in fastboot mode.
