GPS working on Google Maps but no on GPS software - General Questions and Answers

Hi I am new to the forum and need some help. I have got a HTC Diamond 2 clone and GPS works very well with Google Maps but I have installed Ndrive and IGO GPS software with the maps but on both programs i get a message saying 'waiting for a valid GPS signal'. Any idea why this is happening?

IGO 8 - GPS Troubleshooting

Hi everybody. Has anybody the same problem with IGO8 and GPs. When The GPS is off I can use the software for map browsing, route calculating etc.. At the moment GPS is connected to satelites the application shuts down without any message warning.
Do you have any ideas how to fix this problem.
I have also tested TomTom, Google navigator, GPS tuner and other navi soft and all of them work fine.
Thany x for help.

no problem here, i can use igo 8 to navigate fine with gps
Dear Matelko. Your software and whole system seems to be veeery stupid and the problem can be maybe OS related. As I know, some of your apps are working strange, but my not, even we have the same packages used. Just share iGo8 with me and we will test it this weekend(maybe) if we will have enough time and a bit less of work around the cottage or with cars.
Btw,welcome to this discussion Mathew. You need to watch it all and you will get too much infos about Raphael.

1. Update to the latest version of iGO8.
2. Disable Assisted GPS (it is off by default) using Advanced Config 3.2 found on this forum.
Works fine for me, only a little lag.
That lag I know, but I can live with it. My physicall position is 50metres before the position that shows TomTom. Btw.TomTom is working fine for me without aGPS. With aGPS I had no reliable fix available. I like TT7,because of the maps coverage in comparison with iGo. I said goodbye to iGo at all.

Garmin Mobile XT on HTC Touch Pro

I have the factory rom and I have installed only the IGO 8 software which works flawlessly.
Just recently Garmin introduced the NEW Garmin Mobile XT version with new interfaces.
So yesterday I tried to install the new Garmin Mobile XT V.5.00.10, it installs OK but when I run the program the Garmin Screen comes on and suddenly TODAY screen comes back on and a new error message comes on the screen : DATA TYPE MISALIGNMENT AT PROGRAM ADDRESS 0x03F94E04 in background thread null (Main InıtInstance)
Do you guys get this error ? Any feed back ??
When I run the same program on my FSC N560 PPC it works fine......
If you haven't, you should download the generic map and voice files.
interesting.
i had garmin mobile xt working fine on my diamond and touch pro..
it stopped working on the pro all of a sudden and started giving the exact error you got.
i figured i'm not gonna bother with it, as i'm waiting for a warranty replacement for my device (got the intermittent sound output stopping problem)
Same problem here, but only if I want to use several maps together (built with mapsource). If I only use 1 map, let's say bluechart, everything works fine.
i think it's something to do with your maps i'm using garmin mxt 5.1 and so far no probs but i had the similar problem with my htc galaxy and it's due to the map incompatibility... uninstall and remove all garmin related files from sd card and the device itself and see how it goes
Interesting ....
I have only one map installed , however I didn't install the general base map, let me put that on the Micro SD card too.
Maybe I should wait for Garmin's next update or something....
Mine works fine with Garmin 5 and the base map and North America 2009.
Doublecheese, I had the same problem, and I found a quick fix somewhere that said that if you erased all the messages in your SMS/MMS Inbox it will be ok. For me I only had to erase the MMS messages. I don't have a permanent fix for this issue yet...would be interested to find out if anyone knows how.
Holy cow! It works! Thanks!

They are on the garmin site for free. Install this http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=3493
Makes you wonder why Garmin is scanning your inboxes...
Great tip, thanks. Used to be you had to hard-reset to fix that data misalignment problem.
i'm having a GPS problem when connecting with Garmin Mobile XT. I have a HTC Touch Pro (CDMA). How can I set it to where it can find the internal GPS? It only tries to acquire a connection through a Garmin supported GPS device....HELPPPPP!!

Are you positive that you aren't using Garmin Mobile 10? I believe this version only supports external BT GPS devices.
Also, for those having problems, make sure you update from version V.5.00.10 to V.5.00.20. The former version crashed for me and I noticed that it was quickly replaced on Garmin's Web site.

Raphael is not supported by Navigon. For now I used a portsplitter (Franson GPSgate). settings: Input com4, active output: GPSgate direct. Start navigon and use GPS wizzard manuel. After this it works.
By a soft reset you have to do it again. It seems somewhere in november Navigon comes with a update for the Raphael.
thanks a lot!! dude,
anybody heard about when NAVIGON comes with an update for Rafael???
so i dont need the gpsgate!!
Navigon mn7 works for Raphael.
You might also have to make sure aGPS is turned off, sometimes that's makes these GPS apps act up.
I have to say that i have used Navigon 6.5 and 7 without any problems.
I did however have 2 problems small problems after installing:
1. When i tried to start it up that i would only see a white screen, but this was solved by reinstalling.
2. When installing on a ROMeOS custom rom Navigon could not find a gps receiver. This was solved by a patch that ROMeOS made.
Hope it works for you because i personally love navigon

GPS Help

Hi,I have installed tomtom 7 validated maps etc. How do I turn my GPS ON? When I start TT7 the message that I read at the bottom is "Waiting for a vlid GPS signal"
Is there a setting to turn the GPS on?
Thanks in advance.
Search for HTC GPS Lock. I had the same issue on my Fuze and after getting an initial lock using HTC GPS Tool, I now can get a lock every time and fairly quickly using TT.
thanks, i will try it.

Did you find "HTC GPS Lock". Can you share the link?
I receive yesterday a HTC Fuze (ATT) and has not been able to get the GPS working with TT7, Garmin, GM nor LiveSearch
