"No Location information contained in this image." - G1 Android Development

I had previously posted this on the Cyanogen bug tracker, but apparently I'm the only one with the issue. I'll paste my description of the problem from there:
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Open Google Maps and ensure the phone has a solid GPS lock
2.Press the Camera button to go to the Camera viewer
3.Take a picture
4.View the picture just taken
5.Press Menu and select "Show on Maps"
What do you see?
"No Location information contained in this image."
What did you expect to see?
The location of my photo shown in Google Maps.
Please include the following info from FASTBOOT mode
MODEL?
DREA100 PVT 32B
HBOOT?
HBOOT-0.95.0000
RADIO?
RADIO-2.22.19.26I
Which version of CyanogenMod?
4.2.14.1
Did you wipe before flashing?
Yes (tried on multiple occasions)
Have you tried running fix_permissions?
Yes
Have you tried rebooting?
Yes
Apps2sd / partition type/size?
Yes. ext3/500MB
What size/class sD card?
16GB kingston
I've tried starting maps first, starting camera first then switching to maps
and back and still no location. Could it be that there is some permissions issue with my phone (akin to the occasional permissions issue people sometimes have with wpa_supplicant.conf)?
Any ideas at all? I have no problems with the GPS or the camera individually, but would be nice to be able to use them together...

If its googgles or your doing the geotag thing, your location might be unavilable by the GPS.

No, read above, I open Maps first and ensure that I've got a solid GPS lock, only then do I go to Camera and take a picture. I've even tried going back and forth between Camera & Maps. No dice.
I'm not even using Google Goggles.

process stopped unexpectedly errors on newly rooted mytouch

I have a mytouch phone functioning fairly well on the 32A based ROM by AMON RA via this protocol
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=547133
I get a series of error messages when trying to run various programs, e.g.
"the process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly, please try again"
"the process comandroid.phone has stopped unexpectedly..."
"the application setup wizard (process.com.android.setup wizard) has stopped unexpectedly..."
I did a search on this issue, and found related but different problem on
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=473130.
Anyone have thoughts/experiences of this issue, links for resolutions for other rooting efforts on this or other phones, with this or other roms?
Regards,
Dave
I'm getting something similar, but the other apps that are crashing are handsent and google voice. As it stands I can't make phone calls, and my contacts don't sync. I would say it's a radio issue, but everything else works fine. Oh well, I'm going to go browse through the how to thread and see if I come up with something.
I saw some people having the same problems as yours. I would recommend doing the "Daredevil steps" from Amon_RA's how to root the mytouch thread. Then flash a 32B firmware on your phone. I believe you may be getting those errors due to the 32A firmwares being intended to work on 32A boards with more memory. I have cyan's 32B rom on my myTouch and it's working great
typically, you'll get these errors if you did not do a data wipe before you installed the rom...
i would suggest you data wipe, revert back to the recovery rom in the root process, wipe again, then apply the update

I was planning on wiping the data on my google data base as well. I'm sure I can find out how to do your data wipe idea by reading through the forum. However, if you would be willing to give me a direction here, would be a nice shortcut, and I would be appreciative of your assistance.
I'm using this 32A based rom as a first foray into the altenative rom world, as a way to learn about how to do this. I will eventually be taking a daredevil approach back to 32b, I suppose, but would like to see if I can get this working.
While the error messages come up saying the phone program will shut down, I can still make and take calls, and pretty much do everything, but can't sync contacts, probably because of data base contradictions (between google and android).
Dave
I'm getting the same problem after rooting my mytouch. I had constant errors with the 32A identical to the ones leiko49 posted, along with performance issues, even after flashing to the 32B radio.img and running CM's 3.9.10, after having done a complete data wipe from recovery-RAv1.2.0G.
The device seemed smoother, but had problems with the phone portion such as failing on most outgoing calls and not receiving any incoming calls. I returned to recovery mode, did a complete data wipe again, reflashed 3.9.10 and booted it up. Testing the phone showed the same initial symptoms as before, but after about 1-2 minutes it seemed to hook onto the network properly and calls seem to go through fine in both directions now.
I'll post any updates if I notice it giving problems again.
I deleted all contacts in google on the web, unchecked syc contacts on the device, all unexpected stoppages have disappeared. So far everything appears to be working perfectly on 32 a rom. I had suspected from reading other related forums that the attempt to syc incompatable data fields was the problem with the error messages. This appears to fix the problem completely. I'll keep you posted.
I think next step (after a couple days of error free use of phone) will be to re syc outlook with google, then resycn google with android, see if the problem re appears. I hope that it won't because when it resyncs with android will just sync the compatable fields. But I really don't know much about this.
Then, since it was so successful, will eventually go over to a 32 b rom, I suppose, have to read more about pros and cons of that.

[Q] Desire HD locations POI not showing.

Hi everyone I am new to the forum but have been reading through the threads and it seems there is more knowledge on hear than available on HTC's tech support hotline so hear goes.
My micro sd card that came with my DHD and that had all the map data on for locations navigation completely died and wouldnt even show up on my pc. (ran a couple of recovery progs to but to no avail).
I have downloaded the mapping software when prompted to onto a new msd card but the POI are not showing up and says "no locations found", also if I do a destination search for an address, town or city it is the same. But If I manually browse the map it looks like all the POI are there with all the info about them when highlighted.
Any help would be much appreciated
Hi everyone I am new to the forum too but have been reading through the threads trying to find a solution to the very same problem as above. There is more knowledge here than available on the geek squad who twice suggested a master reset.
My micro sd card on my DHD completely died too and wouldnt even show up on my pc, but it did come back to life eventually when trying it back in my DHD. After trying a master reset I searched for clues as to what to do. I even deleted a number of times, the contents of the data directory as decribed on one of the threads here, re-booted the DHD and re-installed the locations. Still no POI or other stuff that should be seen.
Eventually I went into Locations widget and tapped on the pin, taking me to a map of Taiwan. I opened the menu and tapped on "Get more". tapping on maps button I searched the list for my maps, in my case United Kingdom and downloaded them, 532 MB which took quite a while even over WiFi. Once downloaded all the POI were there in the list and on the maps. Locations gave my location instead of a longitude/latitude location and it no longer displayed "Updating".
I hope this helps you christofy and others if you should be unfortunate enough to lose data from your sd card. Do back it up. Afraid I still haven't.

[Q] Problems with HTC locations app

Guys,
I have the following problem with HTC's "locations" app.
I was downloading some maps, and some are rather large (GBs). At somepoint my phone got switched off. When it switched on, I was notified that the downloads had not completed. So I select to continue. But the downloads immediately jump to pause and I get the download warning notification, telling me of the incomplete download.
I thought that this probably is related to corrupt on the map files that I trie dto download. Since these are supposed to be on the TF card (mini SD card, whatever you wanna call it), I cannot find them anywhere. Since its an unrooted phone (and i want to keep it that way), I cannot see if they are stored in the phone's internal memory, and I certainly do not want to go through a full reinstall of everything again by doing a factory reset.
Can anyone tell me how I can solve this problem?
is this an actual problem of the application (HTC Locations) or is it a problem with potentially corrupt downloads (in which case, where are they and how do I remove them), or could it be something else?
Can I uninstall HTC locations and reinstall it again, or does this just affect the app itself, not the maps?
any help would be appreciated
Thanks,
K

Can I use a custom wm6.5 rom instead of an official HTC rom
you can, if you use cotullas sspl
I'm back to wm (official htc rom), and I can not fix the satellites (from Sense 3.5)...solution?
If you turn off gps in android you also turn gps off in windows mobile. Sounds a bit weird I know. I had this problem too. Solution was to flash back to Android turn gps on and flash to windows mobile.
my GPS still stoned...
Copy Android r175 on SD card, boot windows, start Android from SD and enable gps in Android settings.

You have the chance - like me :fingers-crossed: - to kill the phone as seen above. In that moment, all "heavy" members are silence . Nobody (can) help.
The only way to have back your phone is pay money in service center ! So, be careful when you try this !

NOT WORK !
To be honest: there is always a risk in flashing phones or other things.
And there is always a case where the usual way don't work.
I flashed my HD mini 20 - 30 times WM <-> Android, i tried everything what's provided here and my phone is still fine.
One thing that i can read (and not only here in this subforum) is, that the following way can bring the phone back alive. But you have to use the correct RUU (from your carrier) and maybe a goldcard (don't know on what this depends, i never needed one):

Go to microsoft activesync "connection settings" and untick "allow usb connection". Boot your phone to 3 color screen. Connect your phone to computer via usb. Open mtty.exe and select usb connection. Click ok. If all is ok enter these 3 commands:
task 29 and press enter
task 2a and press enter
task 8 and press enter
Boot again to 3 color screen. Open your favorite ruu instaler and install wince. Thats all.

My phone not detect satellites - gps is detected in iGo. It is another way to repair this without "flash back to Android" ?
Thank you for intervention.
LE: In that moment, i run this http://code.google.com/p/photon-android/wiki/Android_Installation_Tutorial from sd card. I enable gps in android and launch "Navigation" but it stuck in "searching for gps". I can ' t acces market to install https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eclipsim.gpsstatus2&hl=en. How can i include GPS Status in android on sd card to see if my phone detect some satellites or not?
Maybe you have to play a little bit with GPS Settings: Put it on, see if it works, shut down phone, try GPS under WM 6.5, then start Android again, try GPS again (if it worked under WM), or put GPS off, restart phone and do this on and on again, as long as GPS is working under both (WM & Android).
I had also no GPS at first time and this way worked for me. But i know this can be annoying!

I take gps status - can remove link. I ll try what you say.
PS: How put application ? Start android on sd card with app copy on sd and ... ?!?!
You also must remove it from your quote
You must allow in settings that you can install apps from another place as Google play.
You can install the apk by tapping it from a file manager like ES File Explorer.

Unable to save pictures or screenshots: possibly due to corrupt storage?

tl;dr: I cannot save pictures or screenshots on my phone, as well as a few other small quirks, can someone help?
Hello XDA, I've just recently encountered a strange issue with my Nexus 5 and I was hoping one of you might be able to help me out. I'd like to have screenshots to break up the text wall, but due to the nature of my issue, that's out of the question.
So my big problem started about two days ago, when I wanted to flash the omnirom nightly (1/27 to be exact) to my phone.
While doing the factory reset before flashing the rom, TWRP got stuck (and I'm talking about 10 minutes) formatting /data not including internal media. I was left with no choice but to hold volume down and power and hope for the best. This is what I bet screwed things up. After that I tried again, and the formatting worked, and omnirom booted, but with the error message of something about device UIDs being inconsistent and recommending I format my data partition.
Well since the rom was a nightly, I felt like ignoring the message, but I did notice issues: I could install and uninstall apps, but none of them could really access the internal storage (for example, any attempts to save a picture, like through chrome, would fail. I also couldn't restore from titanium backup. Connecting to my pc would not display my files).
Dismayed, I obeyed the message and did a full wipe of the data partition and tried again (not just the factory reset one, but the full wipe of /data, and don't worry, I could still backup using ADB pull so I haven't lost anything). This caused the UID error message to go away but I still had issues-not as bad as before-but still issues. Titanium backup worked, so I used that to restore successfully, but I couldn't make new backups. I was frustrated and blamed my issues on using a nightly so I did another full reset and went back to stock.
Now, I wasn't given another UID message, and ALMOST everything works, but I am left with the issue that is the reason I post this thread. I can't take pictures, video, or screenshots and a select few apps fail to recognize the internal sd card (reddit sync, for example, will fail to save pictures when I try to download them, but other apps, like chrome, will succeed to do so, so it is a non-issue. I could also connect to pc again, yay!).
The camera (app and hardware) will still work, and I can tell it takes the picture because the little thumbnail that slides to the side after taking a picture appears. It just fails to save the picture. When I swipe to view the picture, it shows up only as a dark gray box. If I view it in the photos app, I am greeted with the message "media not found." When I try to take videos, Camera will force close the moment I press record.
I've tried a few things, like clearing the camera's data, but that was unsuccessful. Different camera apps (I tried Focal) result in the same problem. Using the Root File Browser app, I also made sure that permissions weren't locking access to that folder. I've also tried deleting the DCIM folder by connecting to PC and then taking another picture, but that still did nothing.
I don't know what else I could do besides another /data format, but I already did that and I don't feel like another format would really do anything since I already did one. I'm left with little that I could think would fix this, but I'm sure someone here could help me.
It is late now and I have school in the morning, so I'll check back on this thread in about 16 or so hours when I'm done with that. Then if anyone has a potential fix, I could try it. If I don't see a fix, I could post a video describing my problem or any more information you might find useful. Thank you all and goodnight.
