Orbit, Orbit 2 Or Touch Diamond ? - General Topics

Hi there every one, curently i own a xda orbit (Artemis) with Babbelut ROM WM6.5-28005 v0.3 NLD/WWE and this rom has defenatly given life to my device thanks to babbelut ofcourse, so my main question is if i was between these 3 devices wich are Xda_Orbit, Xda-Orbit 2 and HTC Touch Diamond
wich one would you choose to keep for your self and why..!!
Your answers are valuable to me as i will have to choose one of the 3 preaty soon..
thank you.

Xda_Orbit
Xda-Orbit 2
HTC Touch Diamond
The Xda_Orbit has a CPU that's just too slow
The Xda-Orbit 2 faster but not great spec
HTC Touch Diamond good spec but for the little extra money you could get a Touch Pro that's better spec regards RAM\ROM and has a keyboard

So far from a quick spec check on all 3 i find the orbit2 more secure selection as the fact that it has sd micro slot wich is a plus on space for storage than the diamond wich has a 4gb storage pre instaled on the device and lacks the micro sd slot wich i am tending to use it since i already have a 16gb on my curent phone the xda orbit.

Yeah that's another reason to get a Touch Pro storage card
If they all fall in the same kinda price bracket then the extra little layout would be worth it

HTC Touch Pro Aka Raephel Vs HTC Touch Diamond

Hi,
I am in Delhi (india), and need to buy a new PDA. I am not able to make up my mind on Touch Diamond or Touch pro. HTC touch pro is not yet launched here, and will be launched soon... if somebody knows the date of launch, please let me know.
Can somebody advice me, if it is worth waiting for Touch pro, or go ahead and buy Diamond.
Thanks.
The Touch Pro has the following extra things:
- Slide out keyboard
- 288Mb RAM rather than 192Mb
- 512Mb ROM rather than 256Mb (Diamond also has build in memory for file storage - eg, music etc)
- Flash to go with camera
- more powerful battery
- microSD slot instead of 4Gb built in memory
- fair bit thicker (almost 1cm I think)
- TV out (though an extra cable which needs to be purchased)
You can see a side by side comparison here:

Wrong, the Raphael does not have more ROM. The Diamond has 4gb ROM while the Raphed has only 512mb. I'm pretty sure it's more thicker than an cm, especially when you consider the keyboard

Right, 18mm to 11.5mm I believe.
It's really not that thick though, believe me...

To clarify...
The Diamond has 256Mb + the 4Gb storage, whereas the Diamond has 512Mb + microSD card slot.

True, however ROM is what's built in so i took it that's what you mean No biggy, good clarification for all.
Very Importantly , It depends on convenience. If you do a lot of typing and used to hardware keyboards then Raphael is a go
If you are used to onscreen keyboard , Touch Diamond has a good onscreen keyboard which gets very comfortable to use.Further , raphael has extra ram ( 288 , but again 64 mb may be off for Graphics processor as diamond )and provides storage card slot.

Well, I think the bigger part is that firmware can't be put on the 4GB fixed memory or the microSD card, so the Raphael has more room for that.
Thanks everyone for replying back. Any idea when is "Raphael" launching in India or in Delhi for that matter. And what is the expected price for it ?

All very true, I will edit my post to try to clarify.
By the way, if diamond has 4 GB fixed memory on the board, and Raphael has only 512 mb of that + microSD card, so wont the Diamond should access the memory faster ?, and it should be more reliable too ?
The speed depends on your MicroSD card, some are pretty fast.
Airtel Might launch Raphael in a few months.

Yeah, I googled for about 15 mins for some but could only find them on pre-order (the 12Gb ones) with no release date or price.

Ok lets try again...
Diamond RAM: 192MB. Raphael RAM: 288MB.
Diamond ROM: 256MB. Raphael ROM: 512MB.
Diamond Extra memory: 4GB(Internal). Raphael Extra memory: MicroSD.
RAM is for loading programs and using the phone.
ROM is for storing windows and programs.
Extra memory is for programs, music, video and images.
Hope it helps.
4GB intern sucks, I have a 8gb micro sd hc which I also can use for other stuf. Also reading and writing goes faster with memorycard reader than using the phone with usb cable.

Recieved my sandisk 8gb mobile ultra class 6! microsdhc card today.
Replaced my 4gb class 2.
My kaiser is flying with this new card...
Looking up adresses in tomtom could be a pain, but now it's done in the blink of an eye.
The speed makes up for the extra money (and that is not much to start with: 41 euro incl shipment) !!!!

Just to clarify further it makes no difference whether the memory is built in or not... ROM is Read Only Memory and is generally where the operating system is stored and where the device boots from. The additional on-board 4gb in the Diamond is RAM which is available for storing user files...

O2 Xda ignito vs O2 Xda Serra?

Was planning on getting a O2 Xda ignito or HTC Diamond as I believe they are also known as but today came across the O2 Xda Serra on the O2 web site, which looks the same but just has the qwerty pull out keyboard.
Is the keyboard the only difference or are there other not so obvious differences?
Will the same software/apps etc work on either phone too?
Thanks for any info
Phones are near identical except for the keyboard, the improved battery life (battery is fatter, as phone is fatter because of keyboard) the diamond has a fixed 4GB of storage where as the TP takes micro SD, I have 8GB in mine but there are some with 16GB, Rumour has it that the CPU in the Touch Pro (Serra) is a bit quicker than the diamond.
The O2 web site is misrepresenting the thickness of the TP compared to the diamond, the diamond is 11mm the TP is around 17, TBH if you are happy without a keyboard, I would recommend the Touch HD over the diamond all day long but I don't think O2 are carrying it yet.
CPU is the same. With the TP you get the keyboard, more ram (288 vs 192) flash for the camera and no 4GB internal storage but an expansion slot instead. The storage memory of the TP is also larger. Around 360MB whilst the Diamond's is below 200, so you can install more applications on the device

What choice do I have?

Hi all,
Basically I am planning to buy Diamond 2, since I am using Trinity P3600...
I want a bigger screen... therefore Diamond 2, HD2 is too big... then I am thinking, whether there are a 3.6" device (Touch Pro 2) without keyboard.
Even I see the road map of 2010 Q1-2, there are no WM device with >3.2"
screen. Then I search pdadb.net and found HTC Qilin with a strange CPU.
If it is Qualcomm CPU with at least 500Mhz, I would really think about it.
Any suggestion guys or gals?
Godspeed,

Dell axim X51v or some type of HTC

Hey all at the moment im using an Amsam M810 it was my 1st PPC but now i want to upgrade i cant decide whether to get a
dell axim X51v or else some type of a HTC.
THe dell seems to be the better option as i dont want to spend more than €150($204)
Id like peoples opinion on which i should get,Thank You in advance
I'd get an HTC diamond or touch pro, around here the pro is 175Eur second hand, the diamond a bit less. The diamond is a bit more sluggish (less ram), and the pro is thicker. It's 7mm thicker, which doesn't sound like a big consern, but it feels bulkier and it's heavier ( has more ram, camera flash and keyboard). You could also save some money and get a Touch HD, which would seem to be the best choise of the three. I have a touch pro and I'm happy with it.
Get the x51v. If you're into gaming or watching videos, the x51v is your best bet, and you even have the option for CF and SD card slots. For that price, HTC doesn't have anything that can compete. I had one a while back, and loved it, but left it in the airport, so I replaced it with an ipaq 210 (mistake)
Axim doesnt have phone support, your phone seems to have phone on it. So don't get the Axim.
Get a HTC Diamond or Touch Pro and you will be ready to go...
Be aware that the screens on the Diamond or Touch Pro are TINY! An X1 or Diamond 2 shouldn't be that much more expensive, and you'll get a bigger screen.
Thanks everyone for the input,At the moment it looks like the Diamond 2 or Touch HD
Although after watching this video i think i will save and get the diamond 2
(Cant post video but its on youtube called Showdown: HTC Touch HD vs Touch Diamond2

REQ : Best Windows mobile with best touch ?

Hi mates
I have omnia and i love winmo but touch sensitivity in omnia not good for me.
i plan to buy a new windows mobile , i cant decide wich one is better .
I know HD2 is the best but I DONT LIKE THE SIZE OF HD2 ITS SOO BIG FOR ME :-( .
I want to buy a windows mobile with :
1.Powerfull cpu,ram
2.Best touch sensivity
3.Best battery life
4.Goooood software support
now wich phone you prefer to me ?
( HD-mini,OMNIA2,OMNIA PRO,..... or others )
or a android phone with this specifications .
Thaaaaanks
Well, after seeing Reviews for the HD-Mini, it's actually a terrible device. Plus, the HVGA Resolution is like a black-sheep... Almost NO Apps work with the Resolution.
If you want a decent phone, with all of the traits you listed above, I'd recommend either a Touch Diamond 2 or a First Edition Touch Diamond.
The specs are almost 100% the same, but the Touch Diamond actually has slightly better performance & battery life than it's successor (Touch Diamond 2).
The same thing can be said about the Touch Pro and the Touch Pro 2.
wich one is best in software support ?
OMNIA2 or DAIMOND2
I'd actually recommend you get a HTC HD2 since you want something thats got a good touchscreen, powerful CPU/Lost of RAM, Good Battery Life & Software Support.
The HD2 has all of that AND has an enormous screen.. and to support this it has a 1GHz Snapdragon processor (CPU), 448mb of RAM and 5 hours of battery life.
My friend actually bought one and i fiddled around with it and i was absolutely blown away by how responsive his touchscreen was.. i think its a capacitive screen relative to what im used to which (Resistive). It also has multitouch capabilities lol.
Maybe a HTC Desire if you are intrested in android (3.7 inch) or an X10 xperia
Stick with HTC devices like the Diamond2 or the Desire depending on your needs.
which one have more app ?
OMNIA2 or DAIMOND2
Honestly, the Diamond 2.
