has anyone seen or heard of any work in progress to port the Sense-update for 32A into a 32B release? I want it badly, and there must be several 32B users like me longing to get it...
I doubt it. Because 32B is Google/T-Mobile branded, therefore it's not HTC who'll update it.

HTC have already stated they will not be releasing SenseUI for Google branded Magics (32b).
I've heard that aswell, but won't porting be possible?

Porting is possible, and has been done.
If you've got a 32B Magic, check out the Dream forums. Most of their ROMs are compatible with 32B as well.
I could do a direct port to 32B Magic for my ROM, but it would run horribly slow and crash a lot, so I won't even try.
I wouldn't mind testing it. It's worth a try. Please

OMG ive been trying for ages pls help......
There are about 4 or 5 threads on this already.
Currently, the Hero of the Android World Haykuro is hard at work trying to root the Rogers Magic, which is close enough to the Dream so that it should be a similar method. There seems to be a stumbling block with the boot.img and radio (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=523873). You can follow his progress on Twitter at http://twitter.com/haykuro

From what I've heard they are similar enough that once one is figured out, the same method can be modified to work with the other.
ps how does the daldroid rom work whilst not the hero....???
The Rogers phones have different radio hardware among other things, and don't work with other kernels just yet.
daldroid rom works on the rogers magic and it gives you adb shell root.... NO MORE GAY ROGERS ICONS.

The update pages says "HTC Magic (Rogers)" but when I stick in my S/N it says: Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device. Bummer since my phone and box say HTC Rogers on them.

i just got the S/N from the box as I didnt want to remove the battery.
yeah i noticed it also.. comes up when you select Rogers Magic.. but if you noticed in the notes.. some of which also posted above.. it says enhance dream isssues... will try my s/n and let you know

Be careful as this update will more than likely install a Perfect SPL on your device. You will need to re-root your device after installing this. Could be a painful process.
I'm going to wait for somebody who knows what they're doing to remove the important bits from this update.

my thoughts exactly.. the way they have been putting the perfect spl on devices that didnt have it.... I tried it ( im running Jacheroski 2.7.4r2) and it didnt even recognize my phone. I was reading on the HTC site that you need HTC sync software first... thought that was for hero.. anyways.. have to run out for a bit will check back later... on a side note.. if this actually unroots your phone and puts the rogers apps back on .. couldnt someone tweak this up date and make it a restore rom?

I'm sorry if this isn't being asked in the correct place but as this thread is already discussing the new ROM update I was hoping that someone here could please tell me whether or not this ROM update would SIM relock a SIM unlocked Rogers Magic phone?
I am asking because I should be recieving my new unlocked Rogers Magic (that I am going to be using on AT&T) any day now and while I wouldn't mind updating it with the new ROM I really don't want to go through the expense and hassle of having to SIM unlock it when part of the reason I bought the one I did on ebay is because it is already SIM unlocked. Thanks in advance for any information on this.

I really doubt it will. I don't know exactly how SIM unlocking works, but this update shouldn't touch those settings.
Why run the Rogers update with all of it's restrictions and crappy software? Download and install any one of the dozens of better ROMs available in this forum.
First let me admit that I am a total NOOB with Android and even the idea of flashing custom ROMs on cellphones (the phone I am upgrading from is an 8525 and had an 8125 before that and the only time I remember flashing either was updating the official ROM to 6.0 off of HTC's site). I guess this makes me a little behind the times but my idea of customizing was installing programs like Pockets Plus and then Mobile Shell 3 because I'm not a programmer and was a little intimidated about cooking the ROMS.
That said I was thinking of running the stock ROM atleast for a little while to get an idea of just what I like and don't like about it and then being more knowledgeable when I research what ROM I should upgrade to? Is there a list of the ROMs and what their customizations are for the Rogers version? Do you have any advise on what ROM's I should look at and what the differences are?
I'm afraid that I will be somewhat overwhelmed with the number of choices to be made. Besides, I use my phone on my job so I can't risk it having issues or having to reinstall everything on a regular basis so continually flashing it with new ROM's as they come out may not be a logical solution for me. I think I'd rather end up with something stable and able to use all the programs, etc that I need for work and play. Anyways, any advice you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Your best bet would be to start off by running the ROM that it comes with. If you've got problems with timestamps in the ROM, use a program called ChompSMS.
Read this forum, look for information on the 32A HTC Magic. That's the version you are getting. Learn as much as you can without changing your phone at all. Once you've got enough information start by 'rooting' your phone, then play around with some custom ROMs.
Lots to learn around here. Make sure you use the search function.

Hey guys. im incredibly new to android and am having a few concerns about how to root my phone.
Here's the thing. I know it voids the warranty, but since its a limited edition, i dont have one anyway. all i have to protect it is Asurion insurance which will probably give me a regular 32B mytouch....
Even though i was told by the idiot sales rep that this fender version was the same as the other MyTouches, just with "more speed", i noticed that this is actually a 32A phone with these numbers:

Since you asked how to get a rom on the phone, you're new and you got confused in the first paragraph... I don't think you'll be able to help yet! Except perhaps test things which could possibly lead to risky things! But even then.. I don't think they would wanna spoonfeed you with instructions lol =)
You should just take the time and learn about the basics for now in my opinion.

that guide gets you to cyanogenmod which does not use senseui.
but the thing with the guide is it gets you root. and from root you can install any rom including those with senseui.
i would look into cursordroids rom here in the magic forum, its a great sensuirom that is hella fast and stable.

yeah to bad it is 32A and not 32B which the myTouch 3g is!!!
Plus the rooting is for 32B myTouch 3G's so if you got the fender edition or the one with the 3.5 mm jack then you can't use the method in the wiki.

That guide IS for the 32B board (i guess you didn't even bother to look), and there are other sense ui ROMs than those that require the new 32A radio!
Plus, the creator of this thread obviously DOES NOT have a mt3g 1.2 judging by his fastboot info.

Way to rage LOL, He's saying CursorSense is for 32A, I guess you didn't bother to read that twice.
Also, I didn't find it OBVIOUS that he didn't have the mt3g 1.2. I never looked at that things fastboot info nor do I care because that phone isnt even available where I'm located. I find it rather nice that he informed the lazy user that it wouldn't work on the fender. (Learn to search yourself gatxclub and do some READING, you obviously didn't do enough searching/reading if you don't understand it, you make these forums messy with retarded questions)

I have to say that a little reading and searching would get you a long way... the Unlockr has a step by step guide to rooting with a goldcard. Go here for those instructions. He also has the one click method right above that.

hey all,
ive wound up with a perfected spl from the recent sense UI update. I've seen some talk in these forums about using JTAG to flash an engineering spl directly to the flash. I have a friend doing computer systems engineering who has access to this sort of thing. does anyone know exactly what is required, how to do it and whether or not this works? it would be good to know before I go voiding my warrenty lol.
