Maybe this question have been asked some where,
I've also checked with google.com / support / forums...
seem that there have no 100% workable tools,
So, I would like to change the questions to..
Is it possible to make N1 to use with HTC Sync?
I owned Magic before, and the HTC Sync make me very happy
to sync with Outlook easily, just like use with WinMobile Sync.
simply and workable..
These are the main problem to make me use N1 as my 2nd till now..

Hi all
I`m pretty sure many ppl ran into this problem before me, so I hope someone will be kind and shed some light for me on this one
It seems to me that for some reason I cannot keep my contacts and other stuff on my Universal after deleting a AS relationship with my PC.
This is what I did:
Initially I sync my desktop PC to my Universal via active sync 4.5. (the synchronization includes: contacts, calendars, appointments, notes from outlook 2003)
So far so good the relationship created between the PC and the Uni fine and Now I have my contacts etc on my phone.
Now I decide I don`t wish to necessary break the relationship between the PC and the Uni, but I do not want to sync my contacts anymore.
On the AS i hit tools>options and try to remove the check from say the contacts. at that point AS welcomes me with this: "To proceed, AS must remove all Contacts on your PocketPC. Do you want to continue?" niiice.... so at this point if you say no nothing happens if you say yes guess what... all your synced contacts are gone... Now I want to keeeeeeeeeeep them.
If i try to delete the relationship from the AS, then next time I connect the Uni AS REMOVES everything that was used to set to sync without asking...[contacts,notes,calendar,tasks] I have to add that when you are deleting a relationship it does tell you that it will remove all this from the uni next time you connect it....
I tried this from my uni > active sync settings "delete" the PC from the list (aka remove the relationship) and it immediately removed all contacts etc..... even if i just try to stop the contacts from being syced with the PC it warns me that if I do this it`ll remove all contact from the uni..... ???
???
at this point I`m just sad about this because it`s not a bug certainly. Its just bad design IMO.
here are a few details about this show:
PC: MS Windows XP PRO SP2 with all updates as of now.
PPC: T-mobile MDA PRO running ROM:2.02.00 WWE -- thanks Jay...
AS: Active Sync 4.5.0 (build 5096)
Outlook: MS Outlook 2003 Standard with all the updates as of now.
Is that really possible that they actually thought this way of synchronization was a good idea???
I like to figure out a way that would allow me to keep all the data on the phone even after I deleted the AS synchronization relationship.
...going once....
Maybe not that many people got stuck with this then....
I`ll try a few things in the meantime....
WIZARD82. I have the same issue. Did you ever find a solution?
Wait a minute.. are you trying to let the PC be connected with ur Uni via AS but not sync anything? I tried doing that before... I think the trick is with Outlook since AS does not provide any other option. You have to like break the connection between AS and Outlook or something.. I'll play around it when I get home.
Edit:
Hey I got it... I tried it here at the office. Just delete the current relationship and create a new one without checking anything in the list of items to be sync'ed. You still get to keep all the data on both PC and PPC!
1. Make sure the PPC is unplugged.
2. On AS, go to File -> Delete Mobile Device and just say Yes to the question.. you won't lose anything (as far as I know since I still have all my contacts)
3. Plug in ur PPC.
4. Create a new relationship without checking any options on the list of items.
That's it! Hope this helps.
I'm new, and this has probably been covered, but I can't find it. Does anyone know a way to migrate the contacts and calendar from my old HTC (Cingular 8125) to my new HTC Touch Diamond 2?

You can sync through exchange server or through software such as My Phone.
That, or you can use PPCPimBackup to write everything from your old phone to a single file, and then import that on your Topaz. It's just a matter of what you prefer, really. But I can really recommend PPCPimBackup, as it allows you to do much more.

Problem with PIM backups are that it can hose up your manila if you flash from an older build.
Syncing the Touch Diamond 2 with Groupwise
I'm 57 and used to be considered a tech whiz. You guys make me feel like a septic tank pumper. (No slight intended to the Honey Dippers. It's an honest and necessary profession.) I've been reading XDA about 1/2 hour now and am flabbergasted by the expertise and savvy I see in this forum. Some of the old coots who worry about our next generation should read here a while
I have moved (with some help from XDA) from an HTC (cingular 8125) Wizard into an HTC Touch Diamond 2 I bought unlocked from Hong Kong. My latest problem is syncing with Groupwise at work. I was doing this on the wizard by using Groupwise PDA connect to translate from Microsoft Active Sync. I downloaded the latest Active Sync and installed it. It installed, and I can see the device, but I get an error, with support code 85010014. When I try to run PDA Connect it says it can't connect and asks me to be sure Active Sync is running. I am constrained by our I.T. department to using Groupwise.
Has anyone encountered this and found a fix for it? Remember, I'm old. You might have to spell it out a little.
Thanks a lot!!

First, I am not familiar with Groupwise, however go to Settings\USB to PC and see if "Select faster data sync" is checked, if so uncheck it and see if that resolves your issue. (It usually would be checked though)
Please clarify, you can connect through active sync (meaning you can access your device and see your files, programs, etc), but not Groupwise?
Also, searching on that error code in google produced many results, you may try a search and read, it seems the error is possibly related to your .pst in Outlook.
Syncing the Touch Diamond 2 with Groupwise
Hi, Bruce.
Thanks for trying to help me. Yes, Active Sync does connect and says it is connected. It just has the yellow exclamation mark indicating a problem and gives me that error message. Active sync only works with Outlook, so it can't get my contacts and calendar out of Novell Groupwise (our email program, Novell equivalent of Outlook.) With my old phone I used a Novel Groupwise patch called Groupwise PDA Connect. Basically it translated the Groupwise contacts and calendar into something ActiveSync compatible. PDA connect is no longer supported by Novell so I can't get help from them. I was hoping someone on XDA has gone through this already.
I will try changing that setting you suggested.
Also, Bruce, is there any kind of user manual for the XDA website? When I log back in, I don't know how to find my thread back. Basically, I am saving a bookmark every time before I log off.

Not sure about manual for XDA, but Quick Links are very useful.
I just save the Topaz Forum as one of my home pages, but you can subscribe to any thread and access it through your Quick Links at the top/right.
You may have to maintain 2 separate DBs, for example, set up gmail as your exchange server and then duplicate everything from Novell over to gmail.
I know its a PITA. I have to do this as we are on Lotus Notes (POS) and I have found no option to sync.
Sorry.

Hello community! Well I'm pretty new to this android stuff, but i have a question. Ive been a winmo/htc geek since I gave up My Nextel 870.
Ive have a Sprint Touch (Vogue), Touch Pro (Raphael), ::current::Touch Pro2 (Rhodium).
So my Question is How Do i get my contacts from Winmo (PIM Backup) to the Evo Im getting this friday june 4th? Is there a App that uses the same file?
Easiest way is to set up with google exchange via ActiveSync from you phone. You will need to setup a gmaol account if not done already. Here is the website that will guide you through everything you need. google 0 com /mobile/sync I cant post links but im sure you get the point
Export your contacts to a .csv then import them into Google Contacts. They will all sync when you first login.
Theres a post over at ppcgeek that has a cab and everything for WM users to get the csv file. Its so easy to just follow the 6 steps and boom you got it. Thread is in HTC EVO 4g first page titled TUTORIAL*: Touch Pro2 > Evo 4G : Contact Switch
Sorry cant post links or id link it directly to you
try this... if you have a google account it is the easiest way to go about it. if not, open a google account.

This is for setting up a Windows Mobile phone to sync with a google account, I believe the question is how to get an Android phone to sync with Microsoft Outlook right? If you just need contacts and calendar information try using HTC Sync. You can download it right from HTC and install it on your PC, it will work similar to the Windows Mobile Device Center does, but it can't do email, tasks or notes, something I feel is a real failure by HTC. If they went that far with a specific app to help the Windows Mobile community migrate to Android, without having to completely abandon the tool they use to run their lives (Outlook), then why not finish the job and make it fully functional?
Maybe we are reading two different threads, but I believe he's asking how to get his contacts, from PIMbackup(WINMO) over to his EVO 4g, which would be a google sync. So in that case, if he was to use the ActiveSync from his phone, and use Google Exchange server, he would be able to upload them to his gmail account and, then as soon as he signs into Google from his EVO there would sync up. I dont know though maybe he is asking something else.
Ok gotcha, I thought he no longer had the WM phone and just had a backup or archive file.
Ya I had to look at it for a minute as well. When you said that I went back and read about 3 more times lol. Finally read the Touch Pro 2(((Current phone))) and then it all made since.
I just did this myself in preparation for my EVO. I synced my contacts with Windows Live (available from the Marketplace) and logged in online to windows live and exported the contacts as .csv then logged into google contacts and imported the .csv
HTC sync is included on the EVO sd card - user can load his PIM backup to his PC - load to outlook - then run HTC sync and synchronize his contacts and calendar from Outlook to the EVO
Mule
Shoot, if you still have both phones, why don't you just bluetooth the contacts from the Rhodium to the Evo, or moreso, take it to a sprint store and have us do it for you.
yeah i already had a gmail account and like the active sync thing but i exported from outlook 2010 (love leaked corporate stuff) and imported and made sure my stuff is ready for the big day tomoro evo is coming tomoro cant stop watching the stupid ups tracking lol

Good luck man. The Evo is amazing and tomorrow you will be more surprised than you think. If you need help getting your contacts over the community is here for you. There are a couple of ways to do it but looks like you got google synced and ready to go
DUDE.
im not sure why people are making it harder than it is, just go to your bluetooth settings on the TP2 and in the last tab theres an option to send contacts through bluetooth, pair the phones up and youre set!
I'm considering a switch from Topaz to Sensation. On Topaz I'm running a stock ROM of WinMo 6.5 with HTC Sense 2.5
I have ~300 contacts in my Topaz's address book and I would like to perform a painless migration to Android.
There is an issue of trust with Google (and corrupted pics), so I'd want to avoid using Google Sync for that purpose.
Can you, experienced Sensatiologists, recommend me a painless and as smooth as possible way to migrate my address book to Sensation please?
Sorry if this had been asked before, searching the forums did not unfortunately uncover any relevant info on the subject.
I've been syncing all of my past WM phones (MDA, Tilt, TP2, HD2) with Outlook on my computer. To get to the Sensation I used MyPhoneExplorer to sync the phone with Outlook since HTC Sync kinda really sucks. You need both the client & to install the program on your PC. works great, just can't sync Anniversaries.
Hi Guys,
I used my Desire S since some months, and syncing with Outlook was workins perfect for contacts and calendar.
but since some weeks, the syncing of contacts is not working any more.
Is there any way to re-initialize this sync again? On WM I always choose an option to sync it once in just one direction, e.g. PC-> phone to recover such an issue, but there is no option I found in HTC Sync to recover from this state?
Any ideas?
Thanks, GeScha
PS: I haven't found a thread covering this in Desire S section by search. So sorry for issuing a new thread if there is already one somewhere. Just let me know where it might be.
