I have just seen another New SMS Function Update released on the HTC website: http://www.htc.com/europe/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=297&cat=0&dl_id=812
Considering the last one ruined my SMS inbox (large text, too big to fit the screen) and led to me hard reseting my phone - is it worth installing this one? I am suffering with the annoying delay when I load sms messages from a contact with more that 15 messages.

Before I installed update tried to send a few SMS and they stuck. The way I used to fix this was to send a blank sms to same recipient which pushed the stuck one out.
After install sent a few to mates in same office all of them received them straight away and I got delivery report straight away so fingers crossed they might have actually fixed it !!!
WTH is wrong with HTC...there is an SMS hotfix every week and it doesn't change a damn thing.
I have never had the SMS bug that I have read to much about. My HTC Messaging has always worked just fine. But for those who DO have that problem, it has to be very annoying to get an update every week that doesn't help.
Seems like HTC is a little clueless about this.
This is probably the SMS fix that they put into ROM 1.66 for those who want to keep a lower ROM on their phone?
i already got a cooked rom from miri which is based on 1.66 and i dont have any sms problems anymore so i dont need this hotfix
sms issue is gone now...
so everyone thinking of getting 1.66 rom, or already got it, then this hotfix is not needed.
but yeah, i wonder why htc made so many mistakes coding this app... i think this is called "insufficient testing prior public release"

The new ROM in the HTC UK site seems to have fixed my SMS problems. Version 1.66.405.2 WWE

Has it stopped the slow loading when there are lots of messages?
All my SMS issues have gone since upgrading to 1.66 including the slow loading.... about flippin time though.....

No as they're all in the new ROM - the hotfixes say what ROM is applicable for...
I've installed the ROM 1.66.405.2 (76641) WWE but am still getting the large SMS text that will not fit the screen. Is there a work-around?
Some of us arn't able to use the 1.66 rom yet as Vodafone haven't pulled their fingers from up their asses yet so this hotfix has fixed my probs in sms's being stuck in outbox so no more need for me to put delivery reports on

So... my question is: my rom is 1.48 and I update before with one patch from HTC (another release date... is not now on support) and I'm confused if I do this new upgrade. HTC write (less than 1.66.XXX.X) but don't say why the old patch isn't there

I have stuck with the 148. and just added the latest sms hot fix and havent had a problem since, but funny enough, i received an email today from htc regarding me complaining about it last month and they sent me this
"To fix your sms issue if you download the latest ROM version which was released 25.01.2010 from our website then this will solve the sms issue. If you have a network branded phone then if you contact your network then they will give you a website you can go to and download the rom from"
but i dont feel i have to go to the 166. yet, as i am happy with my 148.
I havent heard of anything special from the 166 to make me want it yet!

Thanks, that's what I am going to do too. I haven't got 3 hours to waste in customisation of my hd2 after I hard reset it.

before i start yes i did have hardspl installed
ok basically yesterday i updated my rom to the latest mobile vista and then the lastes dutty's wm6.1 and (also done a hard rest)
the only thing i didnt like about this was the text messaging where it shows all the texts from the past all in one message
so i decided il go back to my original Orang Uk Rom (hard reset straight after)
No Luck same problem but this time no number would show up in the text message area, only once u actually view the whole message does it show the sender and before it wouldnt even show the sender just the number

Cheers mate, it worked
ok im still having a problem where when i recieve a text it doesnt actually show the number from the sender until the actual message is opened and then it displays the name of senders..

ok i have installed the above cab and it has solved my problem
Now the final problem when i send a text message i dont get a notification to say message sent not even a sound or anything so im very buggey and think my text hasnt been sent

I have flashed the TNT WM6 build (5.2.1921; build 18521.0.7.0 from the About screen) on my 8125, and I'm quite happy with it. Seems stable enough, works well (although I wish I could customize the HTC Launcher!).
But I am having problems with voicemail and text messages not showing up on the device. Is this typical of these builds? Is there one anyone could recommend that helps solve this problem? An upgrade to TNT's latest?

I dont understand why you use this verion.
I use TNT 4.0 becouse this rom is stable and wifi connect with my preferred network seameless.
This version dont have the poblem with voice mail and text messages not showing up.

Help me out, folks...
I downloaded the TNT 19213 ROM on Solomhamada's recommendation, and it's telling me the Update Manager is out of date.
WTF?
I would think that the download would come with correct Update Manager.
What to do? I'm back to WM5 and about to throw various electronic devices against walls...
(and excuse me if I'm being dense and a basic newbie.)

I have wifi at home and at work.
Lunch at shpping every day and also in free wifi.
Any ROM different from OS 5.2.318 Build 15342.4.0.01 have an issue with wifi auto-conect in my preferred network.
And i need this functionality.
If you dont need you should be the WM6.1 ROM.
If you need de more stability, try the Business ROM (jwzg).

That's all fine and dandy, but it doesn't help me if I can't download the ROM onto my 8125. The Update manager on the ROMS I've downloaded are out of date, according to the installation wizard. The phone disconnects from the Autosync, does not reconnect, and the screen goes all three-color. I didn't have this problem putting WM5 back on the device. I'm also now losing onboard memory.
If I need a new Update Manager, let me know where to get it.

I have just upgraded my hd2 to the newest 1.66 official rom the other day. it was primaraly to sort out the sms' not sending bug, which seems to be fixed now! yay!
However.. Now i am experiencing a new bug! Now when i type sms the writing is so slow that after i pressed space and begin to write a new word, the letters get on the screen before the phone has made the space, so everything is in one long word Hope you understand.
Generally what i am saying is that, after the new update i experience poor performance when writing sms. Am i the only one ?
I have the same "problem", but not all the time...
If I do a softreset, it types smoothly again.
But after some time, it get's slow as before the softreset.
I haven't noticed the sms yet - but I have noticed 1.66 makes scrolling through music a lot slower....
Thats true, after some time typing goes extremely slow and nees soft reset.
If you have only 40-50 sms surely wont happen.But thats not a solution!
If you want you can try to install the last SMS Hotfix (8007_07).
The original exe will not install, but i posted a cab in the "SMS Problem" thread...
This cab will install the latest Messaging Client 1.5 2011.3631.
Everbody claim it is integrated in Rom 1.66, but Messaging Client in 1.66 is 1.5 2011.1932 ...

Could you possibly post your results after trying this out?
The last sms hotfix I installed caused the font in my inbox to become too big to fit on the screen. One more hard reset and re-installation/tweak-a-thon and I think I might lose it!

You won't find anyone with it here. The best solution is to simply flash to a ROM that has it.
I have so much data on phone can't backup all of it so dont wana change rom for time being........
Im not sure where to grab the version of swype that has been extracted from the 2.07 rom... i am trying to find it myself!
The swype cab created from the version ripped from the Samsung Omnia 2 is all over the web though... google should bring up a couple of places to download it from.
Does anyone know of any differences between the two versions?

You will have to search in the underground... Extracting the software and offering it as a cab is clearly not wanted by the creators and owners of the software. Offering links to warez is completely against xda rules.
The difference between the 2 might be some more language support, and that the HD2 version was made for HD2, as simple as that. I think it still might be an option to flash a ROM which carries it on board - or, at least, as long as this is tolerated.
Maybe in the close future, HTC will bring another ROM update which offers this great piece of software. Or, as stated otherwise, Swype might decide to make a retail offer at some time. If they do at a decent price, I believe they could do great business - as seen with other products, at unreasonably high prices, you won´t sell big, but at fair pricing, you can succeed.

I had the same thing, only installed yesterday so didn't do much checking of the phone. Quite a few problem were caused by the T-Mobile version . Data connection is screwed and all email passwords needed to be reset and my Wifi password are also gone lol. Did some reading online as well and quite a few other people have experienced the same problems, some have even had to HARD RESET to get their phones working correctly, fortunetly for me just uninstalling the CAB and giving the phone a few minutes resolved my Data connection issues , will put back on the Omnia version and leave it at that for the time being.
So I advice using the newest version of Swype with EXTREME caution!!!!
I tried it after much hesitation... Had to do a new setup for all email accounts, data connection and wifi connection. But it seems to be fine now, I'll see in a few days if it stays like that.
I'm using SWYPE WVGA 3.9.10.10.5032 on my HD2 without any problems.

Had the same, but all I had to do was re-enter the passwords (and mail servers for gmail) and re-run the connection setup wizard. Now I'm fine and dandy and the software is nothing short of awesome... Supports Italian, German, French, English and Spanish; I tested all languages and it works fine
I'd say it is a crucial addition to the HD2, as I use it every day, and it makes my text input much less of a chore. It is particularly useful because of its multi-language support. I've never had any problems like those described, thankfully.
have you guys done any soft resets since the initial reset after installation? I also found the keyboard became slow to start after I played with the setting. the omnia 2 version is working better for me and with the htc skin looks awesome.

The swype keyboard has protection in it...only a tmobile hd2 will work with it.

Say sprint - you run sprint tv. get an error. wanna know why? sprint asks "what phone" and your phone replies "tmobilehd2.

when you overwrite the modelid, all exchange accounts - gone (sorta). Your 4 digit pin become a lockout - no pin will unlock it.
in short, bad things happen.
And this is why you always provision your phone before you set it up. part of provisioning is setting the modelid...
which is why people on mighty that forgot to provision before seting up exchange need that fix e-mails cab...

leepriestenator is correct. Thanks. As our phones are all unlock where we are, the problem is just resetting the mobile provider. It is working fine on my phone, though the phone identity is now T-mobile_Leo.
Having said that, it is a much improved version over the one in Samsung.

i click on a message and go to reply, i am swyping all over the place but nothing appears about 10 seconds later i can type, i have the htc patch for sms and i have no lag at all if i used standard keyboard its only swype

I have same problem - more like 5 or 6 seconds for me. I have just learned to live with it as I like Swype so much I could not do without it. I would like to know if there is a fix for this (I am not a techie so really would not know what the conflict could be).
I am running Artemis Rom ver 6. (This is soooo good)!!!
Are you using conversation mode? Usually its caused by have multiple messages from one person and the phone is trying to load them all. Wanting a fix for this too. Switched back to traditional; mode for now..

you can actually start writing. everything I'm typing in the "unresponsive" time, is filled in correctly after a couple of seconds.
I would suggest it's due to the version of Swype you have installed and by the sounds of it, you have the T-Mobile one. I had the same slow response from it, reverting back to the old Omnia version corrected the issue.
However there is a modded version of the T-Mobile one available now (you'll have to search for it, as I believe it will get removed if I post it). Which is working fine and it doesn't require the devices model name to be changed in order to work correctly.

Got exactly the same problem, the more sms i have in a conversation .. the more i have to wait... near 15seconds for a 250 sms conversation... only in Swype, original keyboard do not have this behavior....

Try this, it will trick the phone to load all messeges at ones, it's a little workaround until they fix the bug ...
When u enter the sms application to reply an sms press the menu once and then close it, now they should be all loaded....
I don't have any delay with Swype, but I did experience the same thing when I used the one extracted from T-mobile, it was very annoying indeed so that's why I installed a different version.

So I suppose the conversation mode for SMS is responsible

There is a fix for that on the HTC Site (latest SMS update from end of january), also new ROMs don't have this problem anymore.
Ive had this with every keyboard i've used.
I learnt to live with it.
but it agree, its a pain in the ass.
And it only ever does it on sms'.

the htc fix fixes it for what seems every other keyboard
I use swype, I have this problem but didn't notice this till after loading 2.13 rom.
no new roms dont fix this problem its been around forever. best thing to do is get a non htc messaging rom or just disable it with the tweak
