I have rooted my htc magic updated radio with perfect engg SPL to flash custom ROMs. Presently i am using my hero 1.1.3 ROM. But now HTC India has released new ROM update with HTC sense. Can i use this official ROM update with out modifying Radio and perfect engg SPL. Please give instructions.

No offence, but there a loads of threads that would answer your question, please use search first!
However, in answer to your question. The official update will leave you with a perfected SPL that there is currently no way to revert. If your looking for HTC Sense then I highly recommend the cursorsense ROM instead of applying the official update.
Also, I believe the India official update doesn't have the market - another reason not to apply it.

Anybody that have got the original 32A rom that comes preinstalled with the phone? I want to put it back an I didn't make nandroid backup when I installed a hero rom. The phone is not vodafone and not google branded, it's the official HTC magic made in Taiwan

This thread is a good idea. I don't want someone's hacked up 32b mod with a 32a upgrade. This rom is for 32A devices - why can't someone just root it and package it as an update.zip? Surely that'd be more productive...

We need a no-nonsense 32A ONLY ROM for our phones. I tried eugene's ROM earlier today, and it's pretty good, but it's a lot buggier than I'm sure the stock ROM would be.

Just wait a little while for redglasses to finish up his cooking for the myHero 2.0 so yo can keep root!
Its because the majority of people here have a mytouch or 32b.. if the majority was 32a you can bet someone would have the TW RUU file somehow tricked to work on all 32a.. right from the start they are just woried about cooking it to work on thier phones.. we just need to be patient i guess

There will be and hopefully soon enough. I know redglasses is working on his myHero 2.0 and i really appriciate that he take his time cooking this instead of putting something together way to fast like others around
Think that "the fastes rom" was missundestood. It's not about being the first to release a cooked rom
I'm just kidding, i appriciate what eugene is doing maybe just released the things a little bit to fast

hotweiss has said he will be releasing the HoFo 3.0 ROM based on the dump this weekend. It's specifically for 32A.

I don't think it depend on the SPL only.
Because I have tried 009 and 010, neither of them can work.
So there must be something else.
Both radio and SPL version should be critical.
If there is a particular trend, I guess it is easier to troubleshoot.
my spl 0010 regional: IND uprade completely ! I swear! In our chinese forum ,no IND version bricked ...but the others are not optimistic...

I would... But i can't boot to amon-ra's recovery... Seems all known exploits are fixed in the 1.76.0007 spl
Also i started out with spl 1.33.0009 and the radio from 2.20, which i can't remember what was called....
im pretty sure this one doesn't work for update

I upgraded successfully my spl was 1.33.2010 eng and radio was 3.22... or something like this don't remember but my 32 a was from India so any person having bought theit 32 a's from india can tell u the radio

I find the way to update
Firstly it's nothing about spl and radio I think. I use a goldcard to put it inside a magic with the official RUU to pass the CID check and step by step,it worked! I'm sure it will work on the other g2,you will be successeful! Sorry for my poor English..but it really worked on my g2 from indonesea and another from India.

No one has been able to break it yet.

it was caused by flashing the latest RUU..

I couldn't care less to be honest. Every custom rom i've tried ran like a poo, this one on the other hand is flweless. Fast, stable and everything works. Rogers will roll out an official 2.1 in a few months and that's when i will upgrade my rom.
Yeah but until then, I have a magic that won't be used because I need USB Tethering so I can do my work mobile. Still need root though to do A2SD. Oh lets not forget the other multitude of things we can't do without root. Maybe when it comes out with 2.1, it'll be rootable by default like the Nexus One. They should really give back to the OpenSource community. OpenSource is helping them sell.

I think they think it's OK that people who knows what they're doing to have rooted phones. People who knows what they are doing also know how to flash an update without getting perfect SPL. This is just a guess, but I think that if enough people who wants root is getting stuck on this SPL, they will release a way to root (just like they did with 1.76.0007).

Unfortunetaly you are correct in your statement. If you have done the latest Rogers update, that would force you to have the 1.76.0009 SPL, then at this point, you cannot change to any other SPL.
Rogers is actually 1.76.0010 SPL/HBOOT
ROM 3.05.401.3 Europe: 1.76.0009
ROM 3.05.720.3 Asia India: 1.76.0009
ROM 3.05.631.7 Rogers: 1.76.0010
In any case, I never had the 1.76.0009.
The problem with these ROMs is that you cannot downgrade the ROM to an older version. The SPL is checking for main version (first 3 digits of the HBOOT version)
Can someone confirm this? What happens when you try to goldcard the 1.76.0009 down to a lower version ROM?

i tried the goldcard method on a friends magic which he recently purchased and was already updated
it didnt work. maybe i didnt do it properly?.. the devs here are geniuses, theyll figure it out i hope.

Didn't work cause you'll need a sappimg with higher manver than the current on your phone.

Hi all.
I think I've fixed the perfected SPL 1.76.0009. I took the system.img from the Indian ROM 3.05.720.3 and put together a sappimg.zip (mirror - more mirrors coming soon) [MD5SUM: 20333385aab3f209dd708507f320c1ee].
Put this in a goldcard (see my blog for the procedure of making a goldcard - use google translate in the sidebar to translate from Greek) and go in HBOOT mode by holding volume down and momentarily pressing the power button. The HBOOT should peak the sappimg.zip. Follow the on screen instructions and at the end of the procedure you should have the non perfected SPL 1.76.2007 installed as well as radio 6.35.10.18 and Amon_Ra's modified recovery for radio 6.35.xx.xx. From then on you can install whatever ROM you like (it must be for radio 6.35.xx) or downgrade your radio to 3.22.xx.xx and use the ROMs built for this radio.
right i recently upgraded to the Engineering SPL 1.33.2010 form my perfect spl
but i dont understand what to do next to install a custom rom im using HTC Magic Vodafone UK and ive tried a few diffrent roms all of which have hung on the htc magic screen what am i doing wrong ?

Hello. I've updated my radio and Hboot to hboot-1.76.2007 and radio to 6.35.08.29 and using ROM : 3.05.401.3 wich has the version of 1.5 Android. I've got an HTC Magic 32A . I would like to know if there is a possibility of installing an Hero ROM android 2.0 wich is a Stock edition. Or version 2.1 for hero wich is stock edition and would work on my HTC magic. Thank you

Don't flash any stock Hero ROMs - they different against Magic's
To use Hero ROM you need port it. Make own kernel and pack into boot.img. Change some Hero drivers to Magic's. Rewrite build.prop.
Use ROMs ported already.
