I had used Bluefire Security VPN with WM5.0 and it worked great, they don't have a release for WM6 and
was curious if anyone else knew any good mobile VPN programs?
I'm at Texas A&M and they require a VPN to use the wireless on campus. I'm going to try the wm5.0 one and see if it works. They give a 2 week free trial and I can just keep re-flashing the rom and installing the trial every 2 weeks. Hopefully it will work, they email you the link to download it. If it works I'll post it on here for others to use.
If the software works, don't keep re-flashing yur ROM bloody pay for it! $79 is not that expensive if its a usefull piece of kit for you!

Hi,
I am having problems synchronizing our S710 with our exchange 2007 server. We have a self-signed certificate which as I understand it cannot be used with HTC Vox. Although after contacting HTC Support I received instructions on how to bypass this issue with the program SpAddCert.exe. Although after receiving this file from HTC Support I get an error stating "Access Denied, the program cannot start because it is not signed etc".
I have searched this forum and basically every other forum that I can find in order to have this problem resolved.
Has anyone come across this issue before, and how did you resolve this?
I would buy a certificate from verisign or any other certificate authority, only problem is, the company owner is currently not in the country and will be out of reach for some time making it that much harder and time consuming to generate the certificate I so needed last week or so.
Any input would be appreciated.
Best Regards,
Mattias
Use M$ Security Manager to fully unlock your device and to add your self-signed cert.
M$ security manager
OK, thanks a lot for your reply.
Am I correct in interpreting M$ as microsoft?
Also, the download I found upon googling microsoft security manager seems to be intended for wm5, will this work for wm6 as well?

So does it work now?
Good morning all,
I'm a very new member, and I'm looking to upgrade my device to WM6.1.
Details of my device:
O2 Xda Exec, Monthly Contract O2 SIM, WM5.0, OS 5.1.1.1700 (Build 14354.0.1.1), Processor PXA270-520MHz, Memory 49.96MB.
I'm a writer and use Word, Notes (including recordings), Active Sync (Vista Laptop with Windows Mobile Device Centre, email (hotmail and ntl), phone, texting, camera--I think that's all.
My biggest problems with 5.0 are that I can't edit Word 2007 documents (.docx) and can't use SDHC cards. So really, I want a basic (vanilla?) version that behaves pretty well like the proprietory product. I'm not really too interested in lots of additional apps.
Bearing in mind that I'm very much a user, I'd be very grateful if somebody could advise me as to a ROM that's:
a) stable;
b) easy to install;
c) has all the features of 6.1; and finally
d) not too many whizz-bangs.
I appreciate that a lot of time, effort and expense goes into producing the ROMs--so I'm prepared to make a comensurate donation.
Cheers,
Plantaen.
I think Tomal 8.2 will do for you. Its the most stable and fast ROM I have come accross. Another new version from TOmal is in Beta 2 stage. May be you can upgrade to that as well once the final version released.
Read Wiki
Would first advise you to go through Wiki and understand what you are trying to do and find whether your Universal (O2 XDA Exec) is fully unlocked etc.,
Read as much as you can in Wiki as it helps to prevent future messup as anything going wrong could end up your Uni just a costly paper weight.
Tomal's ROMs are great and once you are sure that your phone is fullly unlocked in all respects, you can try any flavour starting from 7.7 through 8.5
Hope this helps.
Regards
I would recommend Tomal's Vanilla version: http://vidmes.com/xda/Uni/ROMs/Tomal...960_VANILA.exe. Give that a try and see how you like it.

if you look for serious word editing, I would suggest you to use the softmaker http://www.softmaker.com/english/
Regarding a ROM.. I would suggest Tomal V 7.6 or 7.7. my personal favoured is V7.7.
Anyhow before doing something on the rom read carefully and bring you up to speed. I heart upgrade on Vista cn be tricky so you need to find info and make sure you have at least bootlaoder > v1
Maybe U don't need to upgrade your ROM
Hi, Plantaen.
I think maybe U don't need too upgrade Ur ROM, U can try these :
1. file : PsiDocSDHC.cab, so U can read Ur SDHC Card In Ur Uni in ROM WM 5, like I do. U can search this file in this ROM.
2. I think U can save as Ur document in doc format, rather than docx format.
Hope this helps.
Cheers.

After running the exe and upgrading, my XDA fails to respond
Hi, i used the "http://vidmes.com/xda/Uni/ROMs/Tomal/TML_v82_WM61_19960_VANILA.exe" to upgrade my XDA Executive and after the upgrade was over it asked me to soft reset my device, i did that and the screen displays Press '0' to restore factory settings or 'X' to cancel. the device is non responsive after that, pressing '0' or 'x' just exits and the device doesn't reboot. How can i now use my device? Please help.

you're lucky, I 've seen that ROM in http://www.mediafire.com/?ix0z22bttv9
Hello friends,
Am a newbie here. I bought dis phone (s710) few days back. I liked it very much. Now, as am new in using windows mobile platform, got small small doubts. I thought that all windows mobile can be called as pda's. But why this phone still comes under smartphone. And what is this VOX stands for. Is it S710, or a pseudo name. Sorry guys, am asking soo much, ryt..:x
And i was using a nokia java phone, and it has got cell info display (the network operator tower location, nearest place). Can i get it in on this... Now only the network operators name is there. And this 128MB ROM means the internal memory itslf ryt?
And, i saw about flashing the rom, many threads here. Is there anyway to back up the current one on my phone? Now its windows mobile 6 standard. I saw so many cool edits of wm here wid so many addon plugins etc. I would like to try it. but if something wrong happens in between...(thats y asked about back up of current rom, and restoring it...? is dis pakka rubbish que!! )
Sorry friends, got a lot of doubts regarding...No one, please don get irritated, ok...
Regards all..
Thank you for your kind patience.
1) Vox is in smartphone category because it doesn't have touch screen.
2) HTC give their phones names. Therefore Vox. And its model number is S710.
3) About cell info, backuping, flashing and other, you should search this forums and wiki. You will find plenty answers.
Thank you.... @ torrentonly
