WM6 VPN Program - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario ROM Development

I had used Bluefire Security VPN with WM5.0 and it worked great, they don't have a release for WM6 and
was curious if anyone else knew any good mobile VPN programs?
I'm at Texas A&M and they require a VPN to use the wireless on campus. I'm going to try the wm5.0 one and see if it works. They give a 2 week free trial and I can just keep re-flashing the rom and installing the trial every 2 weeks. Hopefully it will work, they email you the link to download it. If it works I'll post it on here for others to use.

If the software works, don't keep re-flashing yur ROM bloody pay for it! $79 is not that expensive if its a usefull piece of kit for you!

Dear kenny james,
Thank you for your interest in the Bluefire Mobile Security VPN software. Please see links below, which contain the software, user guide and release notes for the Bluefire Mobile Security VPN software.
The evaluation period is 14 days, after which time the trial version will expire. At that time you may remove the application from your device or purchase the software from Bluefire's website.

WM2005 & Blackberry Connect ? ? ?

Does anyone know or heard if there are any plans to release a Blackberry client for the new Windows Mobile 2005 devices?
Yes, the client is being tested by various operators such as O2 and T-Mobile. If and when the operators decide that it will be or remain a viable business solution, they might release it in the next rom upgrade.
Remember however that operators might just decide to drop BB Connect in favour of Exchange push, that also shoul be available shortly.
To reassure you, I *did* see a working demo copy on a Universal type device. I also am in eager anticipation.

i have tried the gnutella software and while it works quite well it has a habit of crashing
as this is freeware has anyone tried taking this over as i believe the author stopped working on this a while ago.
failing that does anyone know of a more stable software that allows p2p downloads on wm5/6?
cheers

Where has Bluefire Security gone?

Hi,
anyone knows what has happened to Bluefire Security webpage? I can't get into this url http://www.bluefiresecurity.com/
I have tried to open it from two locations, one in Norway, and one in Sweden.
A lot of sites refers to this place, but it does not even come up when you try to Google it.
They seem to have a good VPN client I would like to try out.
Thank in advance!
It looks like they went out of business sometime around July 2008

antivirus for windows mobile 6.5???

i want to upgrade my topaz to windows 6.5. i cant find antivirus that works in that windows. i have kaspersky 8.0.0.75 but it works in windows 6.1. can somebody help me?
Try eset:
http://www.eset.com/products/mobileantivirus.php
I use them for my pc, but don't really feel the need to buy mobile antivirus
Try Lookout. Works great & no memory footprint.
I have Kaspersky Mobile Security 8 installed on windows 6.5 mobile. to me, it works fine. i have tried changing the SIM card and i was getting the SMS about the card change.
Other features though i did not try, but should be working.
Kaspersky on the other hand are going to roll out KMS 9 in first quarter of 2010. Which is few days from now. So if you are a Kaspersky fan you can install KMS 9 with the same product serial number for KMS 8 which you have now.

Updates on Kaspersky Mobile Internet 8
hi,anyone knows how to update Kaspersky Mobile Internet 8 couse on my HTC HD2 i cant see any Update in Menu, thanks
Hi everyone!
I'd like to ask if an antivirus software is really needed. All I do, is just some browsing at specific forums, watching videos at YouTube and installing some programmes (downloaded only from xda).
No its not really needed, I would only install if you have valuable data, which you should probably encrypt, or you download from bad places
Are there any virus's which can effect WM, outside of a test environment that is, my PC anti virus hardly ever picks up anything, all I would think mobile anti virus would do is take up memory/processor and some hard earned cash!!!!
Is anyone here reacting to a past instance of actual virus infection, or just being extra careful.
Ok!! Thanks a lot for the answers!
thanks everybody
I had read somewhere that there are very few viruses which really affect windows mobile platform. i use KMS8 more for security (anti theft feature) rather than finding virus on mobile.
Using fsecure from years now, it act as antivirus firewall and you can lock and swipe your phone in case of a robbery.
Support is very good but slow on reaction.
Tranfer from a phone to an other one is possible only 3 times or ask support who is helpfull in problem resolution

can "uptodate" be installed and run on android?

hi guys,
i am a winmob user and never used an android device. also i m much clueless about all the hifi technical stuff.
there is a very important application called "uptodate" that i use on my omnia2. ( pls see this link, https://www.uptodate.com/home/about/index.html )
my queries are, can this application be installed and used on a android device?
and what are the advantages of android over winmob? / can the same stuff i do on winmob be done on android too?
sorry for my ignorance, but, i work in a different field and never had to come across these before.
pls help me out here.
thanks
sorry doc, but uptodate only works on windows/ palm os, not on android..
but then you can browse the online version using your password...on any phone with an internet connection..........but cant run it from the SD card like in windows mobile.
you can run epocrates (better version than win mo), and all the skyscape handheld software on android..............
but i think, windows mobile is the best for docs like us, who want to run uptodate from sd card

thanks. that was very helpful. guess i would stick with my omnia2 and winmob.
Well the android web one is nice. Just need an internet connection. If you have reception it makes no difference. If not you're such ruth the archaic wm. I used winmo for several years. It's time to move on.
Could winmo be emulated on android to run any of these old medical programs?
Uptodate in next version 19.2, will include SUPPORT for android and iphone 4.

who told you that??? i wrote uptodate 2 times already and asked about android support and they told me they had no plans for android support but that iphone support was on the way... this is the main reason i'm still sticking with winmo ...
hello again,
coming back to the thread after a while.
i ve heard that people at utd are planning to make it only accessible online. because most of us are using the cracked versions and obviously they dont make any profit
and guess if they do that its going to be very hard to access without subscription. (which is rather expensive)
any news on that guys?

that was reallly helpful. but no support for wp7 i guess. also this online access needs subscription of several hundred usd per year, am i correct? (unless there is a way to use it without subscription) and what exactly is offline support? does it mean being able to store in the sd card and use, like with the old wm devices?

for online access you need the subscription (or have someone give you his/her login info ), of course.
i think (and hope) that offline access means the old wm and palmos way of installing it to the sd card, yes. the new, 19.2 version just came out and sadly there is no support for wm and palm anymore, so no offline version for mobile devices ... i didn't yet see the dvd itself but according to the above quotes, there will be no offline version until the transition from wm/palm to iphone/android is finished.
cheers

i contacted utd customer care. according to them they are working on iphone and android support. (no mention about wm, wp7 or palm. wp7 support would come after a while a guess) probably an iphone offline application as well. and they are going to be online only, in the future. so there wouldnt be any desktop versions. guess i m stuck with 19.1 from now on. i ve seen some guys using the online utd without getting subscribed on their android phones. still dont know how.
cheers

there was a method of how to do this from a pc (which should also work on an android phone probably) including a proxy server and an institution which has a subscription described on a forum site www.drfouly.com, but the site has been down for some weeks now, and i don't remember the exact procedure, so no luck. if there is an offline version for android in the future i will probably switch to android; for now i'm sticking with wm and utd 19.1 ... luckily the institution where i work has unlimited online access to utd from all the computers in the hospital ...
cheers

Mail send me from UPTODATE in May 2011.
We will no longer provide updates for Windows Mobile as of version 19.2, which is released in July 2011.
We made this difficult decision based on limited usage of Windows Mobile devices and on our need to focus on more widely used devices such as iPhone, iPad and Android. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.
UpToDate is currently working on a downloadable version for the iPhone. We are hoping to launch this version sometime this year. UpToDate is also working on a downloadable version for the Android with no projected availability date at this time.
While we do not currently have a downloadable version of UpToDate to load directly on your iPhone, we have found that the program performs very well either through Wi-Fi or your 3G network, and you will receive the most updated content by going directly to our website.
Helpful hint: When you go to the UpToDate login page through your browser, click on the + sign at the bottom of your iPhone, then click on “Add to Home Screen”. This will put the UpToDate logo on your home screen so you can get the online application with one touch on future visits.
Please let us know if we can provide additional assistance.

forget the winmo! uptodate is available for any OS, including Android, and even Symbian. I don't know how they did the trick, but I'm using uptodate 19.3 on my Android 2.3.7. I'm a copyright man, but as we cannot buy uptodate in Iran, we have to reach illegal ways
I know a filesharing link that you can download the whole uptodate 19.3 but I cannot insert the link here in this forum, due to copyright issues. so tell me how I can help you...
to run it, you should just address your web browser (any) to a file in the uptodate folder. in Dolphin or Opera, I type file:///PATH-TO-UPTODATE/
