please note.
In order to use Tweak2k2, please install NETCFv2.wm.armv4i.cab (about 5 MB)
If you are installing Resco Explorer & Regedit.
Please seperate the installation.
Resco Explorer can be installed into RamDisk
Regedit has to be installed into Device
Any applications that requires Core OS, have to be installed in Device.
Example:
Pocket Informant
MCM (Microsoft Voice Command)
SPB Weather
SPB Plus
If you are using Pocket Mechanic, bared in mind, do not remove registry that you are unsure, as the application will just scan though your registry and display all unwanted registry.
Once deleted, your Camera - Video wont be working anymore.

ROCKON!
thank you dude for the hard hard work.
i can never get this cooking to work! i dont know how ou guys get it done!
but we appreciate the free mooching!!
flashing it right NOW. will let you know what happens
Good job dear, Go on!!!!
1. Have you put in this the MS PPT?
2. If you have removed every thing from this then you could very well pack NETCF 1.0 or 2.0SP1 in it. It is just a suggestion. Only my opinion......
My good wishes to you...
Hi Master,
Seriously speaking, i still a noob here.
Since u told me about the PPT (Mobile Powerpoint) was not install from ur ROM, so i did not, but just use back your ClearView.
What i did was meddling your OEM folder.
Is good to have those Mobile PPT back instead of ClearView, and pre-install NETCF v2 or v1, i really sorry that i have no idea how to do it.
because i read BuzzDeV's forum.
Try to do those rgucomp to get the registry out, and default.hv/user.hv
still dont understand how everythings works.
I did installed Registry Workshop or Hex Editor, even i manage to open the Registry, i see things that i dont wish to see there, but again, if i remove, i dont even know where those registry links to which files.
haha, basically, i am just a noob who only know how to meddle the OEM folder. haha.
I did try to use Tof_clock ROM, but because his already packed everything together, likewise, your 3.00 is seperated into different folders, just need to remove or add links to OEM folder.
Hope i did not disappoint u for not able to fulfill your suggestion.
BuzzDev Forum has the Rom Kitchen thread, too many useful tips, but i just cant get to understand their explanation. lol
I will try out again.
Setting NETCF v2 into your customization folder, is not a problem.
I believed NETCF v2 can be extracted out to make as viewimgs , convert to module instead of files.
but because i dont know how to do it, lol
any advice?

1. Download the folder from here--> ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Himalaya/C_Shekhar_HIMA_AKU3.2_R40_P24/MS_office.rar
2. Unrar the folder and the folder inside be placed in the /dev/OS by replacing the existing one.
3. Remove the clearvue folder from the /dev/OEM.
4. cook the ROM.
You shall have MS PPT instead of clearvue. Yes the clearvue PDF reader shall also get lost in the process. I have UPXed the PPT, Word as well as Excel in this which is fully functional and tested. Try it if you can....

Thanks for trying my self cooked ROM.
Everything has to thanks Master for providing the ROM, for me to cook.
I believed the Stabability between 3.00 and Master's ROM is the same, as is both using AUK 3.2. Just versioning different.
For my 2nd Self cook ROM, i have follow Master's suggestion
and have insert in Mobile PPT and remove Clearvue.
I have no way to intergrate NetCF v2, cause is a cab file, and there is no way i can see the DLL files. Unless Master able to create the DLL for me to play with it.
What i did for this 2nd self cook ROM is to put the NetCF V2 cab in it, which takes up Storage space.
Guess nobody would wants this way.
Well. i put it is to convenient me not to install again. lol.
And thanks for helping me to find another free file hosting.
Rapidshare, if i am not wrong, high chance will end up cannot download the file.
/Cheers.

@Hi Keithhiap
Here is the OEM for NETCF v2 SP1 .--> ftp://xda:[email protected]_HIMA_AKU3.2_R40_P24/NETCF2.SP1.Full.rar
Kindly unrar it and place it inside the OEM folder. You have ample space in your ROM. It sould fit into it. All the best...
Cool, Thanks alot Master.
Will dump in and create a new ROM soon.
Really thanks for your help.

The NetCF does not work.
I install Tweak2k2, got the certificate error.
The NetCF 2 for my version is this label NETCFv2.wm.armv4i.cab
If i dont recall wrongly, i downloaded for one of the game.
Binary Casino.
Weird. hehe

No - that's not possible I Think.
But you can use sprite backup.
It worked perfectly for me when I flashed the ROM back.
But keep in mind that it only will work correctly on the same language of the ROMs.

Here is a trick I have used for quite some times with Sprite Backup 5.1
Sprite Backup version 5.1, version 6.02 is more fancy, 5.1 is good enough.
1. Do a full backup, make sure option Create Self Extract Exec
2. Hard reset (optional)
3. Flash new ROM
4. Run the backup file, make sure the Upgrade Mode Restore Option is Check.
5. Kneel down and pray (optional, or take a cup of coffee).
SKtools is handy.
Step 4 is most important. When it asks you for the upgrade fine, Click None. Minor cleanup unavoidable but heck a lot better than of re-install all the softwares.
Sometimes you may find the machine run slugglish by doing that. I am not sure why.
You may flash the new ROM, re-install all the softwares, see if the machine run faster, but few days later, you will feel it run slugglish. I am not sure why. (The laptop runs runs much faster than once I bought it and take it home and installed with applications.)
So I just keep buying new machines... hahaha
holy moly.
going great at 10% of flashing.
but i feel confident the tute was on the spot.
muchos gracias.
And yes you are right (you didn't say it but you must have thought it), I could have added it myself to WIKI. But just had to try it myself first off course.
And am i right in believing i could have allready replaced some of the graphical files in the dumped "ROM" directory?
Or is it to dangerous at this change because the file size needs to fit?

Next step, getting familiar with hypercore kitchen.
Thanks for this tutorial.
Now i can safely backup my Dutch rom and test some custom ****..

Do NOT change files in the dump directory without proper tools!!!
You will mess up the ROM
When you have a look at the dump directory there are some info files with data for the places in the ROM which need to be recalculated.

Dumping Elf WM6 Italian version ROM
Before trying to put new Rom images, i would like to backup the original one.
I followed the (simply) tutorial, but i'm confused about this step:
"need the ruu_signed.nbh from valid update (extract with winrar)"
Which file do I need?
I don't understand why I need a valid ROM when I'm trying to dump a Rom from my Elf
Can I use an other language ROM version (English, Dutch....) or is needed only an Italian one?
Thx in adv and sorry for my poor english

you need this as a "shell" or "template" because the .nbh files are made in a way that cannot be recontructed (so far I understand - correct me if I'm wrong).
And yes you can use an ROM with another language. I took the Australian ROM - look at the first paragraph "files you need"
This is usually a .exe file that you can extract with winrar (or winzip maybe)
P.S.: your english is not so bad

Don't upload to XDA. I've seen some directories with full roms on FTP. But this is no longer allowed and files will be deleted.
XDA's allready been in trouble with MS about this. So either use third party file sharing or privatly owned FTP.
r0p3..
So to get the radio and SPL do i need to redo first extraction but then for these files? Or are these IPL/SPL?

I don't know yet - I still have to dig in the wiki about that.
It's very dangerous in this area - if you mess up IPL or SPL your baby is usually lost forever. I don't mind about those as long pof's USPL works beautiful.
Radio might be not so critical. But 2.97. is already available - so it would only be for the fun of it
Hi all,
before I get started I would just like to say thank you to bengalih for
providing his excellent tools. All credit goes to him. Also, this method
would probably have been posted by him, but I think he's done enough
for us already
MODS: If this is in the wrong section, or should not be a thread, please
move it or delete it
So, this thread is basically dedicated to ROM chefs who would like to
make their ROMs compatible with the excellent SASHIMI tool which bengalih
has so graciously provided us with.
To get started, it's quite simple:
Download the attached OEM Package taken from bengalih's new ROM
Extract the Package in your OEM Packages folder (called Packages in KaiserChef and Kaiserkitchen
Cook it up!
What it does:
This OEM Package is actually quite simple. If you look at it, you'll see that it
includes Mortscript, which is used to trigger the .mscr script that is run by a
shortcut in startup, which checks for a SASHIMI folder every time the device
boots, and if there is one, it proceeds accordingly.
again, all credit goes to bengalih
enjoy
reserved.... (you never know)
reserved for changelog (if any)
I hate to ask seeing how bengalih has left, but is this all that is needed for SASHIMI compliance? I ask because the google cache of the tutorial states the use of a SASHIMI.xml file, which is not included in the package. I have not tested out your method, but will soon as I am trying to cook my own rom. I appreciate any help I can get on this as I waited too long before getting the package
this is the google cache here

This is my first ROM I'm releasing.
I have created a Danish WM6.5 ROM with 85 MB free ram
I have done everything I can to make it stable and fast. I'm using it myself and I'm very happy with it.
This ROM is based on the latest Danish stock ROM I could get hold of.
I have removed some of the stock programs, and have added the following programs:
Code:
Bluetooth notifier
Mortscript (Un-Installable)
The ROM is extendir enable. You can everything about extendir here
This ROM is created with ervius visual kitchen
I thank everyone that have made this possible.
If I'm distribution anything that I shouldn't or haven't mentioned any people that I should then please let me know. It is not out of respect of other people, it is simply because I either didn't realize that I have used some of their stuff or because I have forgotten.
To use this ROM you must have a storage card for the initial flash.
First you extract the contents of the lagerkort.7z to the root of the storage card, so that you end up with a folder called extendir with a few folders and one file inside.
If you want some cabs to be installed as part of the new flash then copy then to the extendir\setups\. only cabs that are in a sub folder in setups will appear. So make one and only one level under setups for the cabs. (they will not be installed automatic, you get to chose which you want to install, so all all you cabs if you want)
Then you flash the ROM and leave the storage card in for the first 2 boots.
on 1st boot after you have calibrated the screen the customization starts, WM looks awful here, don't worry about this, as this step will extract all of the missing WM files to to the extendir folder.
On 2 boot the preset installer will boot and you can chose a few extra cabs to install and the ones that you have added.
You can download the ROM from here:
4shared
You can download the extra package here:
4shared
Congratulation and wellcome new chef
I suggest you to include some pics because you will be ask for that
Cheers.
Thank you.

Danish rom with Manilla?
Would it be possible to create a version with Manilla? I would really love a danish rom with Manilla and HTC Weather...
Regards Ulrik
I possibly could create one.
But I recommend that you install Manilla after with a cab, or with zip files (in the extender folders) this should give the fastest rom. I can help create the scripts so that Manilla will install on first boot if you want?
hey man i can't get the hardware keyboard to input properly for æ, ø, å. I looked through your cabs but don't see a fix do you have one?
I tried this SkandinaviskTastatur5.CAB and XDA_JCEspi2005_Danish_Input_Kaiser.cab neither of which work. Let me know if you have a solution
I have a danish keyboard on my too, and the mappings are just fine on that one. So have no idea what could be wrong, unless there are more than one version of a danish keyboard. I access my æøå by FN and <UP><DOWN><UP> respectively.
I forgot to mention that I'm using a different rom to yours. Maybe you need a Danish WM 6.5 to get the hardware keyboard to work. If you could help me out in anyway that would be awesome cause it's a bit frustrating hunting around to find ? and stuff heh
Ahh that explains.....
I have no idea how to get the danish keys then. If I knew what to put in it I could create a CAB file for you, but I really have no idea what to put in to this cab...
I had the same problem when I used WWE roms, and never got it sorted.
@ Blindpet, try doing this:
Use a registry editor and change the following:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Hardware\Devicemap\Keybd\CurLang to 1044, this worked for me
I tried your ROM and overall its pretty good but i dont know if its my phone thats not set up properly but this rom have got a lot of screen lag though.
Anyway would be great with a proper danish rom for this great phone, keep up the good work
//KillerBee
EDIT: This solution doesnt work for me now.. I am not quite sure how you are supposed to change the HW keyboard language for a winmo 6.5 phone
I was working on a ICS based hoppy rom. Unfortunately I just had a catastrophic screen failure, apparently when my laptop bag fell last night, it landed with enough force to shatter the screen on my nextbook! Oh well. it may be a while before I can work on anything to further the version I was working on.
FYI- Due to work, my time is very limited for working on the next version of Hoppy Rom. I apologize in advance. The company I work for is
setting up new engine test cells in China, and my self and 2 other people are main points of support! again Sorry for anything new taking so long!

CRAMFS STYLE 3.0
AND
FULL ON ROOT v2.0
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for Bricked Tablets. This is known to work on tablet with SN starting with YF1011, and some YF1211.
First you will need to decide which version of the Rom you are going to load. The CRAMFS Style version has SU but you CANNOT write to the /system directory. This is a good all around Rom for those who may need SU but do not need to write to /system.
Full On Root is just that, you have full read write to the /system and can customize the Rom to your hreats content.
HOW TO INSTALL:
TO FLASH CRAMFS STYLE 3.0 Put the UPDATE.IMG file from the Cramfstyle Folder onto your SD card, while tablet is on and follow the on screen instructions.
After running the self extracting Zip file you will have a directory containing the following folders and files.
Drivers (folder)
CramfsStyle(folder)
FullonRoot(folder)
Log(folder)
Language(folder)
Readmefirst.txt
Rkusb.log
RkusbComm.dll
Setting.ini
RK29update.exe
TO FLASH CRAMFS STYLE 3.0 Put the UPDATE.IMG file from the Cramfstyle Folder onto your SD card, while tablet is on and follow the on screen instructions.
To flash Full On ROOT, Plug your nextbook into your PC via usb cable. Turn your nextbook over and with a safety pin or something of similar size, press and hold the reset button for 2 to 3 seconds.
Run the RK29update.exe
Select your Rom files via the boxes containing the .... And navigate to the correct directory for the rom you want to install.
Insert eache file in order according to the update tool.
Clear IDB. (this is like a lowlevel format for the Rom tool:
After the Tool says OK. Select Run. This will begin to load the Rom onto your tablet. It will go through loading and then checking the Rom install.
After the Rom loads and the tool comes back with an OK, patiently wait for the tablet to reboot, and load the new ROM. If the tablet is still connected to the pc via USB when the rom boots it will show the screen allowing you to select weather or not to turn on USB storage. So freaking sweet, great work on RW!
I used Wendal's tool to decompress the cramfs file system.
As for the /system, Because the device uses cramfs, and based on everything I have read, using Wendal's tool to decompress the file system, make the changes, and compress is the only way I can see to be able to
customize the rom for the device. The image is rooted, but after the update.img is compressed, the /system file remains read only. I tested this using root explorer, but anything requiring su works fine. But all hope may not be lost, I was reading on a chumby forum someone suggested using mkfs.jffs to make it writable, but further down it notes that you would need to change the kernel (easy enough to recompile I think), to utilize a different file system. The boot loader would also need to be modified, something I am not ready to try and tackle just yet, I think I would be bricking my nextbook pretty quickly.
It is a start and I am actually learning a lot as I go.
Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.
I am definitely a long time user / cyanogenmod / aosp fan, but as far as ripping open .img files its definitely new territory, I tried to find an internal SD card like the nook has, to maybe dump it, but I cannot find such a beast. Any progress you make is awesome. So do things like root explorer work, just not on /system due to cramfs?
Correct, root explorer does work, but due to cramfs, it does not allow you to toggle to rw from ro on the /system.
Working on taking apart apk's and customizing and rebuilding and resigning next.
just flashed this rom and it works great!
How would I go about doing a custom boot animation or image?
... even if it means flashing a new rom from clean?
This is great. Thanks. The only question I have is why do I see so few items in Market? Does it have anyhting to do with compatability?
Calendar & Sync Access
First, thank you for your work.
Before I update by Next7P, have you included Google Calendar and Sync access in this update?
I use MyPhoneExplorer and will need calendar sync to work so I can fully use for business.
Thanks.
There is another method to get Google Market on the Next7P, I am a new user so I can not post the link, but google , forums Whirlpool net au archive 1756859
, very easy and works great, but cannot get sync to work.
Dan,
Thanks for the responses!
sgtfoo : You can use Wendal's rk29xx tool to take a copy of my rom image, or the original update downloadable from nextbookusa.com, and
unpack it. You then have access to the system directory in an editable format. you can go into the system folder /system/media and replace the bootanimation.zip file with another one. Just be sure the image format is 480x 800 and that the zip file has 0% compression ratio. After you make the changes, just repack .img file via Wendal's tool and reflash.
dodoclub : Not sure why. I have a full market. You might try clearing the data and cache for the market. My market shows pretty full, I.E. I got 31050 entries when I searched for facebook in the market.
Danno65: Actually that is something I have been working on. I can get my google calendar to sync, currently I am using a calendar from the market called Jorte, which works great, how ever, googles actual calendar.apk closes unexpectedly, I am thinking it is just a version problem with the calendar, but haven't had a lot of time to follow up on it.
FYI here is the link to Wendal's tool, which makes it much easier to work on the update.img file.

If you have any request or questions please feel free to ask, I will help anyway I can.
Thanks Dochoppy
Got one of these tablets for Christmass to replace an old broken tablet I use for work.
Google hosts our work email, so I still need to get Contacts and Appointments going, but I maybe able to side load them.
Noticed build.prop still has ro.secure=1. This prevents adb from having root access??
Calendar & Sync Access
DocHoppy,
I came across a post where the "Calendar.apk" and "CalendarProvider.apk" files must be in the "system/app" directory to work properly, I tried to copy these files to the above directory but found it to be read/only, will wendalls tool have to be used to get access to the directory?
Also, did you get your google calendars on your desktop to sync with Jorte on the Next7P, I tried but no luck.
Thanks
Dan
The updated image file worked great, thanks again
Thank you so much for your work in building a new rom for this thing. I am anxiously awaiting a new filesystem so we can have true root. How do we manage to recompile the kernel for ext4 support and change the /system fs?
Hello, first of all, thanks for your work!
I am having trouble loading this rom. it says there's an invalid image file in my sd card and if I want to delete.
Now, I don't know if my tablet is a never or older version of what you guys have...
Next7p

kernel: 2.6.32.27
build: v2.0.7.....
my serial is also different from alot..it starts with YF0511
any help or tips?

I would say the serial number would have something to do with it, check on the site for nextbook and see if your serial is in the same *batch* as ours, if the original serial is in a different group, im assuming the hardware may be slightly different? If so, you can always use his method to repack the original with root.
First off I would like to say that I was very pleased when I came across this thread from another one. I haven't flashed this ROM yet, but plan to. Thank you for your work on this as I have been searching the whole internet since I got this thing [4 weeks now] for some sort of custom ROM. It is hard to use this tablet when I have ICS on my Captivate and Vibrant. GB just isn't as cool.
One thing I hope we can work on is root access, so we then can use Titanium Backup. Then we won't have to manually reload everything when new releases come out.
With all that being said, if there is anything I can do to help, I would love to. Like I said, I plan on flashing this probably tomorrow or Tuesday. Thanks again.
For the record, I got titanium backup working fine on this rooted rom. it is capable. You just need to reboot after it restores a backup.
i'm new to android. glad to see rooted rom finally, keep it up!!!
i have a clarification, any improvement in the booting time? my device took 1min30sec (power ON to ready to use, for me, 90sec seem like not fast enough).
Good luck on improving boot time. And besides a tablet is best used when on all the time... try using the suspend state to quickly wake it. We're just starting with the early versions of this rom... give it time to grow.

Build.prop editing
Okay so observation:
Our tablet is not recognized as a "tablet" by the Android market, only and android device.
What prop would I have to edit in order to have us recognized as I tablet. I noticed this when:
I finally managed (through some internet tutorial before this rom) get the market working (the first version, not 3.1+). And when I downloaded apps (I'll use Minecraft Pro as an example) I noticed that the way mine looked and the way the tablet version looked via android market photos and Youtube, ours looks like an enlarged phone version rather than a tablet optimized version. What can I edit to fix this?
Flashed this today... so for it works great. Love the new boot animation. Great work and can not wait for future releases!

One thing that would be great on a future release [not sure if it is possible yet with out r/w], would be a bigger data partition for apps. Moving everything large to the SD is ok, just takes longer to boot those apps. A kernel that would allow voltage control app [like CPU Master] to work also. Just a thought!
