I've been trying to get help on another thread but no one is helping.These cabs are mainly ment for WM6, but is there a way to patch these for WM5? Check out the link here:

I agree. It is time to upgrade my friend... There are so many roms out there that are almost 100% stable with everything working and not all of them include all of the extra crap either... If you wanted to keep the same general look going on and not the touchflo if thats what you're trying to avoid, then look into some of the professional roms instead of the touch roms.
A good example is TNT5.0 Professional. It has all the amendaties of WM5 but also supports all of the WM6 software.

I've updated to WM6 many times with multiple roms, but they tend to lag in performance. Though one rom looks promicing is this one here:

BUT! It's a Hermes rom and I have no Idea how to flash that onto a wizard. So instead of risking my Wizard to brick, I was hoping someone could possibly patch those cabs for WM5.
If anyone is looking for a little project, please patch those cabs on the first post.

i use TNE with over clocking, with no problems. just as fast as wm5 if not faster.
touch no evil.
and dont flash a wm6 rom that wasnt built for the wizard.

give this rom a try. It was originally made by its right but I personally modified it to have a larger page pool and is quite fast.
It is a touchflo rom though... Not sure how fond you are of those style roms...

Well does anyone just have the base WM6 rom that I can flash? Nothing custom, just the standard, factory WM6 rom? Cuz that would be the only way I would be willing to upgrade. If not then I just want the cabs to work on WM5.

Well there is TNT Official... It's the closest to an actual OFFICIAL Wizard WM6 rom as you are going to get...
Install that(it is CLEAN, nothing on it really) and you can install anything you want if you're not interested in a custom rom.
You could also give this a once over...

please help me with my wizard
i got wizard 8125 from my friend. at the same time i had samsung blackjack2. i found this site that helped me to flash the BJ2 from WM5 to WM6, without any problems. but now im trying to take care of Wizard, and the whole process of flashing crashes,and i get screen with 3 colors(RGB) and my Windows Vista gives me a report that updating software has stopped working. can any one help me???? please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

vista bites for flashing
well the basics of flashing are read! read ! read !
full charge on the battery
the tri color screen is the boot screen
use xp its way better and few glitches
find the rom
make sure if you have a G3 or G4 wizard
G3 IPL / SPL are 2.xx format (eg.. 2.26 2.21 3.08)
G4 IPL / SPL are 2.xx.xxx format
to flash a rom you must be unlocked read about the methods
for each wizard the G3 and G4
and happy flashing

Htc Universal - G3 - Windows Vista : How to Flash ?

Hi to everybody
i'm new of this forum and a noob too .
I've gotten a HTC Universal G3 version.
I've read a lot of threads about flashing Htc Universal but the most of them are refering to Htc Wizard.
I have a laptop with Windows Vista OS, and i would like to flash my Universal G3 version with an updated ROM, possibly a stable version of WM6.5 (or 6.1, it's the same)
Could you show me le last, simple and secure way to do this ?
I'm very confusing, so anyone can help me, do it !!!

Welcome to the forum
By now not any wm6.5 is STABLE, and if it´s your first time flashing I would strongly recommend to install a 6.1 stable ROM, for that I can recommend Tomal 8.5 or 8.81 ROM´s, they are just great!!
Also if you can flash in XP is easier than in Vista. anyway here instructions for flashing with vista http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=313001

Welcome to the forum,
I would strongly stick with what Orb says here and stick to 6.1. as well as 6.5 being very new, it also uses a lot of ram to run. you find yourself having to reset to reclaim used ram. To start using 6.5 you need a 128mb upgrade.
TAKE YOUR TIME, do nothing until you are SURE you know what to do!

Just by reading these guides have become confused.
The first thing i woud like to understand is what you can see in bootloader mode:
when i put my PDA in bootloader mode i can see only a dark monitor with this 2 writtens :
upward : "serial"
bottom : "v1.00"
This is my IPL/SPL version ? So if i've understood well my PDA it's a G3 model, is it right ?
Looking at this guide

i've understood i need to downgrade my PDA to 1.05 ROM, but mine have 1.00 ROM (look upward, refering to booloader mode), so this step will be not a downgrade for me, is it right ?
Could you help to understand this first things ?

You're doing OK! it is indeed a G3 and when you plug it in to the pc's usb it will say USB instead of serial. now follow THIS to upgrade your bootloader. its off the WIKI HERE. read it, it will tell you loads. The biggest problem you will have is running Vista, I only use XP so I cant help you there.

Untill now i have done only what "Duanes" has suggested (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=313001) and you also suggested (upgrading bootlader).
About this last thing, i don't understand very well if i've upgraded or downgraded th bootloader, look this
Now what i have to do ?
Please help me, because i'm making meself confused.

I would now suggest you download a good stable rom, such as TOMALS 8.5 STANDARD build rom onto your today screen connect your pda into the USB port and then follow the instructions for flashing in vista it will then load onto your pda. Now hard reset.
thats it! You can try others later on but its best to try a good solid stable rom first. Like I said use the standard build first.

Hi, thanks a lot. Finally i solved.
It's MORE SIMPLE that it could seem.
So it's not more necessary to CID-unlock and to download UniversalRUU, becuase in the last ROM there is just inside program to upload new ROMs.
Maybe it's necessary to change WIKI instrunctions.
What do you think ?

Only 2 things go wrong.
Indeed it seems it doesn't function at all GPRS with my Tim italian Network. I've to try UMTS with 3 italian network.
Maybe it's a RADIO Rom version problem.
What can i do to solve this issue ?
Also i can i see in my Home the tipical screens with shortcuts to applications, contacts etc.

System tray is one way to add icons to the home screen, however they only appear in a row at the bottom and it is a bit of a fiddle. you might be better off adding a third party software like mobile shell 3.0 to your rom so you can customise your PDA.

A piece of advice when posting and especially as you are wanting to flash your device...... You need to read a whole heap first and understand what you are doing..... if you do not you will end up bricking ur device and end up a shiny paperweight....
Suggest you read the wiki page and as pilot says the relevant section on xda, and please dont flash if u dont understand the process because we will only see you in here asking for more help on how to unbrick yes?

If you arent prepared to read then you shouldnt flash ..
ps before my first flash i read for hours and days, making sure i understood what was happening, why it was and what to do if it went wrong. My first flash on my prophet didnt go right, but i knew after reading more why and how to correct it.

THe universal is an old device and hence you wont get official 6.5 rom or even a 6.1 come to that lol. If you read the wiki page above like a said before you will find a link to all official roms

so 6.1 or 6.5 will not come to my device
it means i have to use this 5.0 version only ?

lol HTC wont bring out an official 6.1 or 6.5 rom for that device, its too old and they want people to buy new devices, hence why XDA is great!!!
You only need the official 5.0 if something goes wrong, my mate had the same device and used a m2d rom which was very nice, so flash away!!

Download and keep safe an offical 5.0 rom, dont use it unless flashing to cooked 6.1 goes wrong.
There are many good 6.1 roms in the forum, so go ahead and try some when you understand what you are doing

so i dont want to try it if it is not clear that 6.1 is supported ot not
i will only do if u r 100% sure that it is supported

take a look in the universal section, you'll find many 6.1 roms there my friend

You have one of the best HTC devices ever build!!
I can recommend you Tomal wm 6.1 8.5 or 8.1 ROM´s
Actually wm6.5 ROM´s are in beta and are not so stable, and if its your first time flashing go for 6.1

Noob question

Hi first time poster.
I am the proud owner of a HTC touch pro 2.
Ive been reading on this site about the different roms eg Manila but goodness im so confused, im not really that tech pro. In my settings screen it says "TouchFlo 3D 2.1.38158.2", after some reading on this site it seems to me thats the manila version. is that right? if so how do i upgrade it so i can use the custom themes and skins.
Also i have windows 6.1 on my device atm. should/can i flash it? If so what is the recommended rom to put on (if thats the right way to put it)

You can upgrade to wm6.5 if you want.
I can recommend Energy ROM´s
Leo= Manila 2.5 (slower for Rhodium)
Phoenix2= Manila 2.1 (better for Rhodium)

I just flashed my fone with hardspl but have yet to install a rom.
should i (do i have to) update my wm6.1 to wm6.5 to use the Energyroms?
i guess another way to put that question is, is it worth installing roms on my 6.1 or is it just simply better and wiser to upgrade to 6.5 and then flash a rom?

Give it a try!
Don´t be afraid, if you follow instructions all should be ok
And if you don´t like 6.5 you can always move it back easy!

I cant seem to locat.e an upgrade rom for my fone and ive searched these and other forums like crazy, ive googled everything, been on the HTC website i just cant seem to locate it.

Thats the infromation on my fone. i put up a thread in another forum and they just showed me the google link for the search and closed the thread. The search didnt help at all. Does anyone know where i can find the update FOR THIS.
