Diamond 2 will not synch with windows 7 64 bit - General Questions and Answers

Hi
My diamond 2 completely refuses to be recognised by windows 7 64 bit despite the fact that the first time it was connected it WORKED fine. Here are some notes about what ive tried:
I have tried reinstalling WMDC
Changed the settings in USB to PC on the phone (disable advanced USB connections)
I have tried different cables (the device charges but will not connect).
The device connects with NO problems to my windows XP machine at work!
When i install drvupdate-amd64.exe it looks for an 'unknown device' but cannot find it and says the device is unplugged.
Ive tried turning the phone off and on whilst plugged into the USB
**edit** i have also tried different USB ports on the PC!
Can someone help as i want to update to hard spl but i need the sync connection and i have tried everything i can find in various forums!
Thanks in advance!

I have the same problem, did you or any one else have the solution to these problem? Thanks in advance.

if you have asus p7p55d motherboard you should know that there is a fault of the BIOS. When I enable the option "Intel C-State Tech", the driver for my mobile phone can be installed. So actually it is a problem with USB on that board, if the option is disabled. I hope this problem will be solved with a BIOS update soon. Until then I can live with that option enabled.

Well, after a lot time waste, I have a W7 64 bits but Office 2010 32 bits and everything works like a charm. I can sync without any problem with my HD2 (Leo).
to those who have the same problem, just check it and let us know.

You should install ActiveSync at first,if your diamond2 still can't synch with you PC.you can updated your device drivers in device management.

Vista and WMDC can't connect

Well I've spent the last two days searching high and low and nothing I've read has been the solution.
I have a HTC Tilt with PDACorner 16(WM 6.1) and when I connect to usb the phone will say connecting, authenticating user, then user authenticated and display that it is connected however WMDC will say not connected. Below are the steps i've taken. I do not use MS onecare.
I added all the appropriate ports to my firewall
on the computer:
disabled the firewall altogether
disabled antivirus(symantec endpoint protection)
disabled windows defender
removed the driver, updated the driver, reinstalled the driver
on the phone:
disabled advanced usb connection(on my phone its labeled as fast usb syncing, without this disabled the phone wont connect at all)
re-flashed the device
finally, I have synced the phone with other vista machines and xp machines which worked flawlessly.
I cant figure out what I am missing, any help would be very much appreciated! I swear I've searched this forum and all of google high and low and none of the solutions have worked for me.
edit: i forgot to add that the usb connection that I am getting now is good enough that the RUU program has no problem running and flashing a rom its just WMDC which will not connect with the phone
Try updating your version of WMDC....
I found I needed to upgrade to get my Omnia to sync.

Computer Can't Detect my HTC Fuze

I have a windows vista 64 bit. and I've installed WMDC and my computer just won't recognize the device. It sure see's it, but it says that its an "unknown device" and then nothing happens. Any solutions?
is there a chance that your x64 Vista doesn't have all drivers? try using windows update.
if this didn't work, i'd back everything up on my device, go to Start/Control Panel/Device Manager and delete whatever it identified. restart your PC and hard-reset your fuze and try again.
oh and by the way, If i were you, i'd use Windows 7 Build 7077 instead of Vista x64

I tried everything listed above, still nothing, I can't believe two Windows based operating systems can't just hook up without problems. Why is this happening?
I have the same problem with my diamond. Just not possible to sync, so I have to use bluetooth.
It sucks though, I didn't get Bluetooth for this computer thinking I wouldn't need it. So I avoided the extra charge, but now it's coming back to bite me. But technically I still shouldn't need it if this thing would work.
Is there some sort of bluetooth adapter I can get so I can actually use bluetooth with my laptop? Or does it have to be built in?
If a ROM is replcaed and an OS is replaced, and it stil doesn't work, I would only guess it's a hardware problem.. which seems kinda odd.
I had this problem too. I found out that it was actually the USB Cable that was faulty. If you have another device with mini USB that you can try and see if the same result happens with the same USB cable.
The USB change actually worked, but it didn't sync, it opened as a mass storage device, and the WMDC didn't see it...

WMDC doesn't create a new partnership on Windows 7 [SOLVED]

Hello,
After I created a new install of Windows 7, I'm not able to sync my Touch Pro.
If I boot on my previous Windows 7 installation (I kept it on the same computer), sync is OK.
I uninstalled (and reinstalled) many times WMDC, "PocketPC USB sync" and "Windows Mobile Remote Adapter" drivers.
There is some trouble : obviously WMDC doesn't recognize my device.
Both "USB to PC" modes are not able to start WMDC.
Any help?
If you have the Pro version, you should be able to run a virtualized instance of XP, and therefore set it up under as ActiveSync in XP. That is with the official release from what we trained on, 22nd is that date... This allows ANY program to run that was supported by XP 100%
I'm using Windows 7 on my laptop and PC, sync with TP no problem at all. I've done installation on few computers too and they are all good. Things that you might check:
- Check your USB Sync cables and/or your USB port, just to make sure
- Open Windows Mobile Device Center and delete all partnership, then reconnect back
- If possible, try to change your TP ID, so that Windows recognize different device.
Hope it helps.
To supratt93 :
Good idea I'm going to try this
To u2pop :
- I've 2 Win7 installed with a boot selector. Sync works with the forst one and not with the other one, so the cables and USB ports are OK.
- I have never been able to create a partnership. Win7 installed the drivers and WMDC never started. Something goes wrong with the installation of the drivers
- Sometimes I receive a message telling me about a problem with installed drivers (nothing about which device is concerned)
I solved my problem today:
After a reinstallation of the last chipset drivers of my Asus P5k motherboard and a reboot, WMDC started and allowed me to sync my Touch Pro.
I hope that will help someone!
I know that this is solved, however I had the same problem.
I reinstalled WMDC, etc.
In the end a simple swap of the usb port that the USB cable was plugged into and it solved the problem.

Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter Driver ERROR

Hi All,
I'm running Windows 7
1. Suddenly my Windows Mobile Device Center Failed to recognize my phone and connect to sync. After some troubleshooting I realized the "Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter Driver" Failed to work correctly Saying "This device cannot Start (Code 10).
I uninstalled the driver in the Device Manager and attempted to Search for the Driver again after a Restart, my phone was again found while attempting to Sync but once again during Driver installation it failed and gave the Exclamation Mark stating an issue and sure enough it is the Code 10 error again.
2. This exact same issue happens when attempting to Tether to use the Phone as an Internet Modem. The Network Adapter driver to Tether is "Remote NDIS based Internet Sharing Device" and it also doesn't install fine anymore. So no Tethering for me via USB.
Now, all the above happened suddenly while using the Internet Tethering with no issues. It simply disconnected and then that was the end of that.
Let me tell you to what Extent I went to try to get this to work. I re-formated my hard drive and re-installed Windows 7. And NOPE it didn't work. Windows Mobile Device Center is properly installed and that is when all the drivers are provided, during the WMDC installation. Once WMDC was installed, my phone was found, the Activsync feature and the Internet Modem feature, and the driver installation attempt happened, The correct drivers were found, but they just weren't Installed successfully as explained above. I'm currently browsing the internet using the Bluetooth PAN Internet Sharing, which works wonderfully with no issues.
But I really need to get the above two items working again, otherwise I can no longer connect my phone via activesync or better said WMDC for Windows 7 to Flash a New ROM.
Now so that nobody thinks it's a problem with my phone, I have three other computers where I can connect via WMDC and Tether via USB with no issues. But I'm having trouble with my Dell Inspiron 9300 which gave me no issues for Months until now.
I considered myself very computer savvy but at this point I'm really stuck!
Any help?
Thanks in advance,
Raudel

The Windows Mobile Device Center that gets Installed is the one with Windows Update. So it must be the correct one with the Win 7 Drivers.
Thank you for your reply.
Any other ideas would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

i have the same problem with win7 and HTC touch2
i cannot solve the problem with HTC touch GSM everything is OK
any Help !!!!
I'm also getting this problem. It just began after a hardware upgrade. Microsoft remote adaptor cannot start. I have tried re-installing device centre numerous times and i cannot get device center to recognise my phone.
It works fine in disk drive mode however.
Edited to add that my device is recognised fine on other machines. So it is an issue with my PC. Interestingly my wireless usb adaptor won't work either.
I had a similar problem, found a solution online. There were some issues with Intel P55 chipset, it sync up immediately after BIOS update and reboot.
Hope this makes your day, best of luck.

Sprint Touch Pro2 WMDC connection issue

Hello Gurus,
I'm having tough time. I'm unable to connect my htc pro2 w/ WMDC on Windows 7 Ultimate version (32-bit).
I clean installed everything (Windows 7, WMDC multiple times). Tried unchecking USB-PC Connection/'enable faster connection' on phone but of no use.
Please help.
Please help/
Does anyone how to resolve syncing problem? WMDC can not see my device and device manager shows 'unknown device'.
anybody, plz help
I'm not able to connect my pro2 to pc using usb cable. Device driver is not installed corectly.
try using a different USB port, i cant use the front port on my work computer (same things you described, the driver wont install) but it works fine with the rear port, it may not be getting enough power from the front port
also, there is a setting to disable charging from a PC via USB, this might help as well (ive never tried it though)
It did not work.
I tried both things as suggested by you, it did not work. It shows that driver is not installed correctly 'unknown device'.

I resolved the issue by uninstalling the drivers that are marked as suspect. Then connect phone to pc and it will look for the drivers and install them again. It is only a temp fix because it will happen again but MS is working on a hotfix to resolve the issue. Since doing this I have had no issues syncing at all. You can also sync by bluetooth if you have bluetooth installed on your desktop or laptop. Just choose active sync or file explorer if all you are doing is moving files. Hope this helps you
The fix is this:
On your smartphone, in the USB to PC settings, uncheck the setting "Enable faster data syncronization"
Press okay.
Badabing-bada-boom.
ciao

I tried on XP laptop (XP professional) with ActiveSync, I get error that 'connected usb device exceed the power limit of usb hub port'. I searched the internet for solution, tried couple of them but same error.
Please help.
