Holding the power button down turns off the phone - As everyone knows.
Pressing it just turns the backlight off. Is there a way to keep the backlight on pernamently? Especially during a call. When the light turns off I can't touch the keypad or write notes then, I want it to be pernamently on during a call and even when not used (Obviously unless i press the power button that turns the backlight off).
Thanks all for reading and hope you can help.
first off check ur setting and make sure proximity sensor is off and there is also a program on freewarepocketpc.net that keeps backlight on, o and btw are u the Terrum from tfc and the specialists, i still play tfc and ive talk 2 terrum before on the specialists.
-maybe this prpgram will help you:INCALL SCREEN TWEAK .
-This app will turn your screen off while you are talking and turn it on while you are looking at it (for example, to write a note or whatever).
-It works using the light sensor.
-Hope you like it!

The one and only. Add me on steam if you want to talk. (Considering my signature is related to you knowing me, it's obvious i'm the Terrum you're talking about I made up the name and i'm the unique Terrum)

You need to get NoSleep!! or NoSleep_Raphael.cab (something like that). Diamond Tweek and Advanced Configuration can also help you turn off Fast Sleep.
Even with one of these installed, sometimes the Fuze confounds me and shuts the screen off during a long call.
But it has nothing to do with the brightness level that you select in Power settings.
Also check this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=446306, and all of the Raphael forums.
Hi,
How I can disable the auto display light off during the voice call on my windows phone 7.
please advise.
Thanks
JAZEEL
Ah! Thank you button and quote buttons are too close! Well.. enjoy the thank you vote!
You cannot. I mean it is critical function. If the screen stays on it will register the touches and will create undesired effects like ending the call, or putting it on hold etc... Windows Mobile had these problems and people came up with numerous ways to get the screen off during call.

I mean, if we keep the phone on our ear, the screen display will be automatically off. It's because of the sensor action on the top of the phone. Is there any registry fix for it?
Why would you want the display on while the phone is at your ear? It comes back on as soon as you pull it away.

KTLO does NOT work on the Infused despite what others say. It might work for a few minutes after initial install but then it gets all messed up. Try using it for an extended period.

I sure wish there was. The current design is stupid. I have an open offer of $50 for a DEV who would make an app that will function in Froyo and GB on the Infuse to do just that. If anyone is interested let me know.
Maybe they can reverse engineer "Keep the light On?" I was in touch with the DEV of KTLO and since he doesn't have a Infuse he said he can't do it. He also confirmed that KTLO is not compatible with the Infuse. I have it installed and sometimes it works for a few minutes then eventually it doesn't.
at least i am not the only one who think design is awful....why would the backlight turn off after like 5secs of not touching the screen? ugh
Agree!
Agree! the button lights tune off too fast.
I can't access the button in dark place. really stupid design.
I tryed the "Keep button lights on",, not work on Infuse.

Ok, my mistake. The "Keep button lights on" works fine on Infuse.
We must use it as desktop widget, then we can turn on/off the button
lights via touch the desktop icon.
Good luck!

You'll find that after using it for a little while it will cease to function. It is not compatible with the Infuse. Sometimes it will keep the lights on, sometimes it works in reverse, sometimes it keeps the lights OFF. It does not work properly (even with the widget). If you use the widget each time you want the lights on it will sometimes work until they go off. It's supposed to leave the lights on anytime the screen is on without further intervention. It doesn't. The widget is only supposed to enable or disable it.
In some (this XDA Premium app being one of them), but not all apps, I've noticed that the lights will come back on by touching the screen.

I try this app few days, I think it's work, the logic is:
1.Install:
Install it, put on desktop, turn on, remove it from desktop
2.Work:
The button lights will not automatic turn on while screen on.
but, once you touch any button, the button's back light will keep on
until the LCD off.
not perfect, but not too bad.
Would likely need kernel support - the current behavior doesn't bother me so it's a pretty low priority.
There's also the fact that messing around in the driver for the bottom buttons is a great way to create an unstable device. (As evidenced by the pain and suffering of those testing BLN implementations.)

BLN is mucking around with a lot more than just turning on the backlight. It's dealing with system notifications for various events. I'm obviously not a developer/programmer in any sense of the word but just "turning on the lights" when you enter the room should be a LOT less intrusive then making them react differently to each different shirt color of the person walking in. There is already an app that works on most other Galaxy S devices so I would guess it's something that shouldn't be terribly hard just to turn on the lights when you walk into the room and turn them off when you leave.
Again .... I don't pretend to know what is involved, just "guessing."

Touching ANYTHING in the backlight code of that driver can do weird stuff... Lots of potential for race conditions.
Ok, so i opened my phone yesterday only and i am already so frustrated with it that i might even sell it. Anyhow, i have the following problems:
1) The screen turns off automatically after 20seconds, even when i am keeping the phone my hand.
2) the 4 touch keys at the bottom do not light up 95% of the time. They randomly light up sometimes, then they turn off automatically.
What is this? How to solve these issues?

1. Screen will turn off in the specified screen timeout, if you want to increase it go to Settings\Display Settings\Screen Timeout
2.Touch capacitive button lights are controlled by proximity sensor which is placed in top right, when sensor detects low light it turns on the backlit of capacitive buttons.

Ok take a deep breath and calm down a bit. Increase the screen time out in display settings.. it does not matter if you keep it in your hand or keep it on the table, if you dont use it, the screen will be turned off, to save the battery and the display itself of course.
And the lights on the capacitive screen, they act according to the lighting in the room, you have sensors beside the earpiece. It takes care of the display brightness and as well as the capacitive button lighting. When they are not lit up, try covering the are around the earpiece with your hand the capacitive keys will light up.
And remember the thumb rule search before posting, google it or search in the forums.

Okay, so I am making this "my problems" thread. I will not open new threads.
I want to stop auto searching for updates for apps (which happens every few hours/minutes i think). How can I do that?

Use a firewall like we use on our windows pc to avoid certain programs accessing internet. Best free app on google play is droidwall.

Can't for some reason find an option anywhere on the phone to stop this from happening. Every time I'm on a call after about 10 seconds the screen will dim and a few seconds later goes to black. Can tap on screen 2x to wake it up again but I don't want this to ever happen. Not connected to full device shut down that I have turned up to 5 mins so has nothing to do with that setting. Can anyone assist and help me stop this form happening all the time? Many thanks!

Not sure then because that was the only thing I could find.. Maybe it's a setting that we don't have control over.. I do know that the screen is supposed to shut off when it's close to your face and the reason being is so that your face isn't pressing on stuff and making the phone do things you don't want it to be doing.. My moms face sure does seem to disable a lot of stuff like fast charging and even turning the screen brightness so low that she thought it was broken haha..

HA. No, phone is on a desk, not near my face. But yeah most phones nowadays do that. Thanks for trying tho.
Anyone else with any thoughts?
Tried replicating the problem on my end. I called someone, enabled speakerphone and put the phone on the table.
The screen indeed turned dim after 10 seconds and turned black afterwards. It bypassed my screen timeout setting which is 5 minutes. The phone app is in the foreground. Double tapping the screen wakes it up.
I minimized the phone app; the homescreen is now in the foreground. It adhered to the 5 minutes screen timeout setting.
I guess the temporary workaround is that after you answer the call, exit out of the phone app.

Hi. I had the same problem and found the solution using third party application: Screen On Call from Google Playstore: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vorlan.screenoncall.free
It is compatible with Samsung dialer. On the top later you have small button to prevent screen going dark or to disable it. Proximity sensor is working without problem when you hold the phone to the ear.

Thank you. Life changing.
