I am using the HTC keyboad (HTC_IME.apk) on Cyanogen 4.2.12 and am quite pleased with this keyboard.
However, as I daily switch between English, Dutch and German I would love the autocorrect function to support all these languages (at the same time).
I have noticed that the HTC keyboard saves unknown words in its English autocorrect library when they are not in there already. So, by typing in other languages while having english language correction on I slowly "teach" the HTC keyboard my other languages.
Now my question is, can I speed up this process by copying the the dutch and german dictionary of the Android system to the autocorrect library of HTC? If so, I would be very happy to learn how that is done.

I am not scared about having my neo in english after the update process,
but I'd like to have my T9 dictionary in italian, and, if possible, also the keyboard layout,
the autocompletion for entering text (is that still controlled by T9?), and the smartdial application.
Is there a way to do so?
Shall I take some cab somewhere?

As far as I know; The t9 language of the ophonepad is selectable to different languages including Italian. the t9 of the keyboard itself is the language of the ROM only

I installed the htc_ime.apk. The hero keyboard is just amazing. The problem that I face like many many other users is that I write in French and German and text prediction is only available in English. Would anyone be able to provide the hero keyboard with more prediction languages? I believe that would help a lot of people! Many thanks!
If your ROM supports French and German you can set the XT9 language to those with a trick. First set your keyboard language and the system language to english, reboot, then set system language to french (or whatever) and reboot again, now your XT9 is in french. This works for Dutch in Cyanogen 3.6.8.
If you want to do it easier flash Smartphone France firmware, it has Dutch, German, French, English and Spanish XT9 and you can select the input lang from the keyboard settings.

Actually I have the normal swiss cupcake and I have installed the HTC_ime. The xt9 language change works indeed when changing phone's language, even without restart. But I would like to be able to change xt9 language without changing phone's language. any ways to do that without loading another firmware?
is anyone able to bring this modification?
I'd also love this feature. I'm from Spain, but I like my phone in English (computers, and whatever), because of the poor quality and completeness of the translations. I'd love to be able to get back Spanish XT9
In the German "Telephone Keyboard" Mode, the letters ü/Ü, ä/Ä, ö/Ö doesn't exist...

I have the same issues, I live, in the US, speak english, like my phones, and everything in english, except, most of my texts are in spanish,
I don't want to have my whole phone in spanish, so just that I could write a text message, windows phones have this feature with no problems,
also better keyboard has it, but, I found out I like HTC keyboard better
By default the HD2 keyboard comes with 5 languages. Does any one know how to incorporate additional languages? I am specifically interested about the greek language.
I also are intrested in alternetive language keyboard settings. I want Swedish, and that im thinking of keyboard support for Bluetooth Keyboards. External BT keyboards works great, but cant se that im using a Swedish Keyboard. We have the darn å,ä,ö thats messing up the usability for me.
Any Ideas?

Use the search tool on the top bar with key words like t9, xt9 or even et9 and your preferred language. You might find a suitable solution on another device's topics.

Use Fingerkeyboard 2.1 for additional languages... its free and has a much better interface than the standard keyboard. You can switch between languages easily...
I recently upgraded from a HTC Magic with android 1.6 to a HTC Legend with 2.1 Eclair and noticed alot of new and upgraded stuff.
The only problem is that i can't use English language in the menus without losing the swedish XT9 dictionary. is it possible to install a swedish one and where can i get it?
i already checked in my phone settings and i can't choose swedish xt9 even when i have set swedish language for the phone menus, but when i have on swedish language the swe xt9 works.. (really strange)

I installed this keyboard and it works really well and i like it a lot. I tested other swype keyboards, but didnt really like them. But this one I like.
But since i 99% of the time i use Slovenian language I would like to have Slovenian swype too. But here is the problem. When i choose Slovenian, I can't swype any more. I can swype in Italian or Chroatian but not Slovenian. Looks like there isnt Slovenian dictionary or something? I try to use Chroatian whitch is somehow similar to Slovenian and punch in my words to dictionary. It works, but there is a lot of Chroatian words in, of course. How could i do that in Slovenian Keyboard? Can I inport it somehow?
I just looked at add-on-dictionaries and there is Hrvatski (Chroatian) language installed, but there isn't Slovenian available to install. Can it be inported somehow? Or is there some file I could open in Chroatian dictionary and replace words with Slovenian one?
Looks like there is nothing I could do about it?!
