Best GPS App & Device

Hi Guys
I wanted to know what GPS app is the best (and easist to install)?
and which GPS device/reciver is the most compatible?
Regards
Kim
Hi,
I use Route 66 with France's maps. The soft is fast, easy, we could modify pois, but maps are old (2005).
I have tested TomTom, V6, for pda. The soft is good, but hard to use with fakecursor.
Bye.
And excuse my poor english.
For route planning I use Tom Tom Mobile 5.2 with the Tom Tom MKII blue tooth receiver - only because I already had it when I got a WM 2003 phone a couple of years ago, but it works fine with my HTC S710.
For other general GPS stuff I use the freeware program GPS VP - downloaded from http://gpsvp.garminmapsearch.com/ or Google Maps
The Tom Tom receiver is a bit slow in getting a fix, but it can be used with the Navizon Virtual GPS which combines Phone GSM and WiFi triangulation with the GPS signal - so you always get a fix - even indoors!! plus they pay you for collecting the WiFi and phone position data - download from http://my.navizon.com/Webapps/UserAdmin/register.aspx?referral_code=5D575C5D5C5C
tomtom
Hi guys
thanks for the help..
what about tomtom v6 - will it work?
Tomtom v6 works, look here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=335963
It's not easy to use Tomtom v6 on Vox, it's developped for pda, not for smartphone, and we have to use FakeCursor (cursor on screen, like a touch screen) to use tomtom on Vox.
Bye.
And sorry for my poor english.

Connect XDA Orbit2 with micro notebook to navigate and surf the net?

Hi,
this is my first post in this helpfully forum.
Please be mercifully with me, because I´m from germany and my english isn´t the best.
Here are my questions:
I have a very little mini-notebook with a 10" display.
I would like to connect this notebook (with usb cable or maybe Bluetooth??) with my O2 XDA Orbit 2 to surf in internet with the notebook (I have a dataflat on the phone, so i can surf as often as I want).
And also it would be nice to use the handy as an gps
recipient for the notebook and the notebook navigation software.....is this possible?
Can anyone tell me please if such things are possible?
thanks to you all

more noob help please!

I have successfully flashed my first rom onto my new Fuze. My question is how to get the gps going for driving? I have these apps in the gps folder-
chartcross gps
htc gps tool
visual gpsce
quick gps
google maps
Don't know what I need to do here, seems all of these just run tests. Does anyone know of a free, easy to use app for driving? I am in the US. Please let me know via reply or pm.
Thanks again to everyone on the forum for all of the help!
i think you are looking for a navigation software, there is a number of them that you can install, from the professional, TomTom, Garmin, iGO, these are for money, and others are available that are (still) free, e.g. Navit and nav4all. google maps can help in the begining as it can give directions (no audio). and i still continue to use now to search for addresses of places to go to.
Thanks, I'll give Navit a try...
Do you have a favorite?
TomTom is currently the one
Why did you post this in general? although it does classify as a general GPS question, you probably would get more replies if you posted it in the Raphael Software forum.
My current favorite Navigation software is iGO8.
ALSO if you have a data plan, enable aGPS, it helps you get a GPS lock faster and keep your quickGPS up to date.

GPS Sharing

There are Apps of GPS sharing for-
ExtGPS for S60
BlueGPS / GPSGate for WM5/6
Any apps for Android? Pls help.
Share what? Coordinates?

Click to collapse
just treat the android phone as a BT GPS receiver.
S60 and WM6 could do so...
Yes I would be very much interested in this also. Would be good for running a mapping program on a laptop. GPS over wireless would be good too.
After some hunting I havent been able to find much other than a few guys hacking out software that utilises the SPP (Serial Port Profile) bluetooth profile. You'd need to expose the GPS hardware (Com9/dev/tty??) using SPP, Problem is, from what i have read, SPP is not supported in the SDK. Correct me if i am wrong.
