Connect XDA Orbit2 with micro notebook to navigate and surf the net? - Touch Cruise General

Hi,
this is my first post in this helpfully forum.
Please be mercifully with me, because I´m from germany and my english isn´t the best.
Here are my questions:
I have a very little mini-notebook with a 10" display.
I would like to connect this notebook (with usb cable or maybe Bluetooth??) with my O2 XDA Orbit 2 to surf in internet with the notebook (I have a dataflat on the phone, so i can surf as often as I want).
And also it would be nice to use the handy as an gps
recipient for the notebook and the notebook navigation software.....is this possible?
Can anyone tell me please if such things are possible?
thanks to you all

Can I record and then send sound files from an xda / xda II

Can I record my voice on an XDA / XDAII etc and then
1) send it by phone for someone to hear and
2) upload it to my web page so others could run it from the site or download it and listen later, say as an MP3 file?
In essence it would be using it like a ditaphone of old.
Sorry if this has been asked b4, I ran a search but couldn't find it in there.
Thanks all
you could beam the file to the other xdaI/II
guess you could host it if you just got hold of a ftp client you could upload it to what ever
Sorry - I've just realised a part answer to my qs
1. I mean to any phone that could play sound - rather like a mp3 version of a voicemail
2. I can use active sync to drop the file onto my pc and ftp it (as you said) can't I?

NoteM is the perfect program for your purposes. It records in .mp3 with good quality, then you can send the files by e-mail, or you can use it as a dictaphone. I am using it for some time on my XDA II, replacing the original recording program on the HW button. And it is free! http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?download=626
thanks for the reply - it sounds (no pun intended, honestly) just like what I want. All I now need is to buy an xda. I guess that's a rather important next step!
As an aside, it'll be good to get an xda, I used to use an HP 500 series PDA but passed onto the Psion Revo - b&w screen but the semi-size keyboard made data input sooo much quicker - but the all-in-one-box approach of the xda is drawing me back in that direction.
Also, I want to be able to access web pages 'on the street' and then use the data I've retrieved and that's gotta be easier on the xda than juggling phone + pda and setting up links etc.
Thanks for the post

Of course, there are several other devices on the market that combine phone and Pocket PC, e-mailing, internet, etc. Before you choose, make a survey what fits you the best.
An MDA III Compact device (at T-mobile) has got to the market lately with a sliding keyboard, if screen tapping makes problem to you.
Good luck!
the sliding keyboard does appeal to me. I'm currently with orange for my normal phone and I believe they've launched their version of this xda. I'll check it out

Software integrating WM5 phone and a PC via Bluetooth

I have a carputer in my car with a 10 inch touchscreen and a lot of other stuff. Amongst that stuff is a USB Bluetooth dongle. I would like to be able to dial numbers, browse my contacts and answer calls with the PC instead of the much smaller Atom phone screen. Does anybody know about software that does this?
Thanks in advance!
Hi Mastif,
You may find that Soti Pocket Controller Professional works over BT
for you. It throws up the screen of your pda onto your PC screen (so OI don't see why you couldn't try it on ur carputer). the image can be zoomed and all feature of your pda accessed via the PC screen (or in ur case carputer touch screen). Let me know if it works/ helps.

Thanks! I'll have a look at that.
If you don't want to shell out for Soti or don't need all the bells and whistles, there is a similar free app from Microsoft (Remote Display control):-

WM6 and TomTom One with DUN-Patch

Hi,
I am new here. Thanks for this forum!
I have a big problem with my new o2 xda comet and TomTom One to use the TomTom Plus services (weather, traffic) via bluetooth. TomTom does not support Windows Mobile 6 devices.
I know that Microsoft deleted the bluetoth DUN-service inside WM6. At why-did-we-remove-bluetooth-dun this is discussed. But in this forum exists a workaround at This is an All-in-One cab to install the DUN-service. I installed this patch.
Now my TomTom One can find (pair) the Xda Comet as a possible to use mobile phone.
The 2nd part of the installation fails:
After selecting the country (Germany), the ISP (o2 de), the mobile phone ("other", because not in list) the dial string (at+cgdcont=1,"IP","internet"' OK-AT-OK 'ATD*99#' CONNECT "") my TomTom One shows that it cannot connect wireless. I edited the \ppp\gprs-connect-chat file with a UNIX-like editor but nothing works.
Due to other forum postings the DUN-patch works well with other mobile phones.
After days of searching and changings for the right configuration I cannot find anything to solve this problem.
Do you have any ideas to connect the o2 Xda Comet with TomTom One to use the TomTom Plus services?
Thank you very much.
Hi,
after more and more searching I found no solution.
Due to this and the costs of the TomTom Plus services I decide to buy a 2nd SIM-cart from my provider. I will use the 2nd card in an old mobile phone only for bluetooth-DUN-data-transmissions.
Thank you Micro*oft for your excellent software.

Turn mobile device into bluetooth keyboard and mouse

Hello,
Is there a way to turn these mobile devices into a bluetooth keyboard/mouse?
I am aware of the gremote porject at http://gbmsoftware.com/ but am looking for a more generic way to turn the mobile device into a remote keyboard and mouse.
A generic solution would be ideal because it could be used with any system (not just PCs) including PS3s, PCs, Macs, Linux, etc.
If something like this doesn't exist, what would be involved in creating it? Would one have to write a bluetooth driver?
I am a developer but have never written a driver or written anything related to bluetooth. If someone can point me in the right direction I may be able to write this thing myself.
Ever any luck with this?
My Frenemy has found an app that does this with WIFI - but your point about universality strikes me as important. Not having to install a server app allows this to work on any platform. I wonder why no answers or other posts.
The EVO 4G would make a SICK remote bluetooth keyboard and mouse...
Thanks...
Frank

No,
Nobody really got back to me and I've since moved on to WebOS. I still think it would be great little tool!

Wondering the same thing
Hi i have been looking everywhere. I am also wondering the same thing (mainly to connect to my ps3. Could you possibly repost that link? it seems to not be working. thank you!

This must be possible?

Basicly what I want to do is to be able to connect to my chessbase Fritz 11 interface on my home pc from my wm device using the internet!
So that I can play and analize games when I am on the go!
So my question is, is there a chess software on the ppc that can connect to Fritz 11?
If not then maybe there can be other solutions for doing this?
I was thinking something like this:
1. Connect Fritz 11 to autoplay on FICS or ICC
2. or Connect Fritz 11 to autoplay on Yahoo
3. Use PocketGrandmaster 4.0.1 to play with fritz on FICS or ICC
4. or another software that can connect to yahoo chess and play with fritz from there!
Now I know how to enable fritz 11 to play on yahoo server, no problems there, but I cant find any software that enables me to connect to yahoo chess from my ppc! Is this doable?
I dont know how to connect fritz 11 to autoplay on FICS or ICC, but I do have the program "pocketgrandmaster" on my ppc that can play there!
So as you can see, I have problems one way or the other! :-(
Please can anyone help me to best solve this, I am desperate!
There must be a solution to this!
Thanks in advance!
I don't know if this is helpful.
You can remotely see your PC and control it from your PPC using t2remotetouch - it does connect over internet too (but I haven't tried this myself, I usually use it over wireless router).
However Sanjay is very helpful and there's a forum here.
There is also some help on connecting to your computer from anywhere here.
